  • MFM marks 30th anniversary at headquarters

MFM marks 30th anniversary at headquarters

The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has clocked thirty years.

In celebrating the grace, glory, and manifestation of God’s power and abundance in the Ministry, the weekly crowd-pulling Manna Water Service was held to thank and praise God.

The day witnessed the General Overseer of MFM worldwide, Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya, dancing joyously and heartily on the altar, to the admiration of worshippers, who thronged the service.

At some point, Olukoya invited the three assistant general overseers present at the service, Pastors Kehinde Adegbolahan, Gbesan Adebambo, and Abiodun Ladejola, to join him by the pulpit and the quartet held hands, danced, and rejoiced in the Lord, as members watched with glee and surprise.

Speaking briefly before the Thanksgiving celebrations started, the General Overseer gave a brief history of the location, now known as the MFM International Headquarters, according to him, the piece of land, with which the Ministry started its international headquarters, was discovered by his mechanic (who later became a member and is today, a pastor in the Church), who informed him that the plot was up for sale, in 1994.

According to Olukoya, the landlord was asking for N120,000 for the plot, whereas, his salary where he worked then, at the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR), Yaba, was less than N300 per month. However, he said “God raised a sister, who did not know that we wanted to buy land, to pay for the land. The sister had sold something and brought exactly N120,000 as her tithe and we bought the land, which is Auditorium A with the money.”

Amidst cheers and praises to God, the avowed man of God told the eager worshippers that the Ministry was celebrating thirty years of kingdom expansion; of kingdom spread; thirty years of destinies being restored; of promotion. “There are people here, who can confirm that without MFM, they would have been dead. We are celebrating thirty years of rescuing men and women from the mouths of lions. Here people are getting married; people are receiving mysterious promotions.”

MFM has increased the voltage of prayers in Christendom, among other good things the Lord has used the Ministry to do in the lives of His people, Olukoya noted, as he added, “Because of these, we are going to praise God today,” and really, it was praise galore, as different praise teams took time to lead the praises, to which the worshippers sweated it out, dancing heartily.

The General Overseer also disclosed that the monthly crowd-pulling programme, Power Must Change Hands, will be 30 years old too next year. He urged the excited worshippers to relax and wait for the bigger celebration of the Ministry, which is the 35th-anniversary ceremony, coming up in August this year.

  • RCCG, MFM reschedule monthly programmes

CHRISTIAN leaders yesterday urged Nigerians to troop out on Saturday to vote during the rescheduled presidential and National Assembly Election.

This is as some clerics adjusted their programmes in tune with the shift of the polls by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

A Catholic cleric, Dr. Paulinus Ezeokafor, who is the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, said no sacrifice could be too big for a credible election.

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye and the Mountain of Fire and Miracles (MFM) Dr. Daniel Olukoya, readjusted their regular monthly programmes.

Also the Serving Overseer, Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, Pastor Bakare, described the postponement as one too many.

According to him, “in 2011, it was postponed; same in 2015, now in 2019.”

He said the shift has affected the church’s transition plans to move to its new building, the Citadel, which is to begin in March.

“Now, we have to review the timetable”, the cleric said.

In a statement, Pastor Adeboye said: “The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has rescheduled the elections. All things work together for good.”

According to him, the March Holy Ghost Service, which, the mission had earlier streamlined for members within the Lagos vicinity, will hold for the usual four days.

“”Therefore, the Special Holy Ghost Service will now hold as usual between Thursday, February 28 and March 2, 2019 and will end with a thanksgiving service on Sunday morning (3rd March, 2019),” the statement reads.

Pastor Adeboye urged members of the church to publicise the programme, using all available channels, adding that the locational restrictions hitherto announced, have been removed.

The monthly Power Must Change Hands (PMCH) programme of the MFM for March 2019, will be held as usual on the first Saturday of the month.

Dr. Olukoya had announced at the February edition of the crowd-pulling programme that due to the governorship election scheduled for 2 March, which coincided with the PMCH programme, the programme will be held the following weekend.

He said: “However, following the announcement by the INEC in the wee hours of Saturday, 16th February, that the national elections have been postponed by one week, the church authorities have returned the March edition to its traditional first Saturday.

“Members of the MFM worldwide and adherents of the miracle-spinning monthly programme are, through this medium, enjoined to inform others of the development, as the church also apologises for the shift in dates, which was caused by national event.”

Dr. Ezeokafor, who expressed sadness over the sudden postponement of the election, also regretted the pains the shift inflicted on the citizenry.

He, however, urged Nigerians not to be discouraged by the development.

The cleric told reporters in Awka, the Anambra State capital, that no sacrifice was too much for a credible poll, which he was confident INEC would deliver.

He noted that it was unusual for him to be at home on a Sunday, saying he had to reschedule his programme in view of the seriousness he attached to the election.

He said: “The postponement came as a shock to many, especially when one considers the repeated assurances of INEC that it was ready even two days to the Election Day.

“While we feel the pinch, including financial involvement, distant travels and closure of schools, I believe no sacrifice is too much to get it right.

“Whatever INEC can do to correct the mistakes to ensure free, fair and credible elections, should be done, which I still believe they are capable of doing.”

Likening the situation to the travail of a woman in labour, who would forget her pains after delivery, Ezeokafor noted that the pains occasioned by the shift would be history when the elections turned out to be credible.

  • Fireworks at the temple as Rangers, MFM lock horns

League lovers in the country expect nothing but fireworks as red hot Rangers international and hosts MFM slug it out in Match day 4 today.

Rangers, who have had a jolly good ride in the CAF Confederation Cup so far, are refocusing on the league while maintaining the high spirit that has produced interesting results for them both home and away.

The Gbenga  Ogunbote tutored side have recently imbibed an infectious fight to the finish approach where it hardly matters whether they are playing at home or away, an indication that they will take the war to the MFM from the first blast of the whistle.

MFM equally known to put all the arsenals in the armory in every match will definitely be a tough nut to crack. Die-hard followers who spoke to The Nation   ahead of the mid-week cracker say only momentary loss of concentration on either side will result in loss and victory.

Rangers who have been drawn in Group B of the CAF Confederaton Cup group B alongside Etoile Du Sahel, Sallitas from Burkina Faso and CS Sfaxien, are playing their first league match this season an indication that the Coal City boys will be fighting to begin on a victorious note or at worst earn a point.

Oozing with confidence as they trained at the Agege pitch Tuesday the club announced “We are doing it right now at Agege stadium, Lagos for our first NPFL 2019 encounter with MFM” Rangers have a backlog of matches to play as a result of their continental engagement.

Still waiting on the card are the postponed matches against Niger Tornadoes, Kastina United and Sunshine stars. MFM are going into Wednesday’s match fresh from a 2-0 victory over Kwara United

“I hope my team can make a huge statement from the opening day contest.

“It’s going to be a fresh start for us playing against Enyimba Football Club – one of the best in the Nigerian league

“MFM Football Club is a good side as well, although I know it’s going to be difficult because we lost a lot of our players to other clubs.

“Last season, we lost eight players but the players we have now are young and as well new players.

“I know it’s going to be a little bit difficult but we will do everything possible to get a good result,’’  Ilechukwu said.

This meeting will be the sixth between the Olukoya Boys and the Aba-based side. Enyimba claimed the available three points in the last fixture last season while the remaining four ended in a draw.

The MFM FC gaffer said he was not perturbed in spite of the of previous meetings, adding that he was looking forward to kick-start the season with a large number of newly-signed players.

  • MFM dissociates self from monetary contributions

The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has dissociated itself from information on some online platforms (Facebook and WhatsApp), seeking monetary contributions from the public and unwary members of the church

It said it was not true that it needed monetary contributions from members and the public to meet the financial needs of some faceless ‘poor’ and ‘needy’ members.

A statement signed yesterday by the Media Committee Chairman, Pastor Oladele Bank-Olemoh, said: “The MFM authority, through this medium, warns the shady characters involved in this ungodly plot to dupe unsuspecting members of the church and friends of the MFM to desist forthwith, as their action is tantamount to invitation of God’s wrath.

“The church will take legal action against any person giving the church a bad name. It has put in place a machinery to apprehend the criminals and prosecute them. The public and members of the church are warned not to fall victim.

“The church has a welfare scheme for its members and the needy in our society. It has never and will never request, demand, appeal or solicit financial contributions of any form or under any guise, from the public.”

  • MFM, Olukoya file N2b libel suit against Sahara Reporters, others

MOUNTAIN of Fire & Miracles Ministries (MFM) General Overseer  Dr. D.K. Olukoya has filed a N2 billion suit against Sahara Reporters Publisher Mr. Omoyele Sowore for defamation of character.

The MFM is the first claimant in the suit filed in the High Court of Akwa Ibom State, Uyo.

The second and third defendants in the suit are Sahara Reporters Incorporation and  Objective Media Group Limited.

MFM and Olukoya are claiming N2 billion against the defendants for alleged aggravated libel.

The claimants are asking for an order of the court directing the defendants to pull down and erase each of the offending posts from the internet forthwith.

They are also praying for an order directing the defendants to tender written apology and retraction in form and content acceptable to the claimants and published prominently in Sahara Reporters online news media, on Facebook and in at least three nationally circulating newspapers and two international magazines, including TIME International.

They in addition sought an order of  perpetual injunction restraining the defendants by themselves, his agents, servants, privies or other persons howsoever called or described, from further making, publishing and/or disseminating libellous stories and statements against the claimants or any one of them.

The claimant in the suit alleged that on September 4, 2018, the first and second defendants, using the second defendant’s Objective Media Group Limited, made and posted a video recording of Sowore addressing a crowd of his purported political supporters on their respective Facebook pages under the heading “Breaking! Sowore Reveals Why MFM General Overseer Daniel Olukoya Is After Him, as He Arrives Lagos”.

Sowore was alleged to have falsely and maliciously said to have spoken and published against the claimants the following words inter alia namely: “On Olukoya, very important because this is the latest that happened. I have done reporting on many cabals and you know in this country there are religious cabals, political cabals, traditional cabals and family cabals so I touched all of them not only Olukoya.  Remember the one that was sleeping with a prostitute in Canada… It was then that he then  went and looked for a Judge in Uyo. Imagine a man of God that is on Lagos – Ibadan Expressway now going to look for a judge in a case that doesn’t even involve them.

“My suspicion is that they found a judge who is probably a member of their Church who said that he will teach Sowore a lesson. That is not going to happen…”

Also in their joint statement of claim filed in the case, the claimants averred that they had earlier commenced a suit against Sowore and two others to claim sundry reliefs for libel.

They averred that after being served with court processes in that case, Sowore allegedly took to his Facebook page to falsely and maliciously write and publish concerning the claimants, particularly the second claimant.

The court is yet to fix a date for the hearing of the suit.
