Injured Stoke City forward, Victor Moses has returned to parent club, Chelsea after suffering a thigh injury. The Super Eagles winger sustained the injury during the 2-1 defeat to Burnley on Saturday and has been ruled out for up to eight weeks. Stoke City manager, Mark Hughes confirmed yesterday during a press conference ahead of their game against Liverpool that the Nigerian international is now back at Stamford Bridge to begin rehabilitation. “Victor Moses has gone back to Chelsea now for his rehab following his thigh injury,” Hughes told reporters. The Potters are already without Peter Odemwingie (knee) for the season but Hughes believes the absence of Moses will give the duo of Marko Arnautovic and Ossie Assaidi to break into the team, though the latter is ineligible for this Saturday’s trip to his parent club Liverpool. “We approached Man City and Spurs in a positive manner. We had a game plan, we always do. We’ve been organised and difficult to break down but having a threat on the break. We’ll still have that even without Victor Moses. “It’s been a frustrating time for Marko Arnautovic and Ossie Assaidi who haven’t been able to break past Victor Moses but there’s an opportunity now for one of them to make a big impression.” Meanwhile Moses has expressed sadness over the injury that has ruled him out of action until 2015. The 23 year old who took to the social media to express his disappointment however promised to bounce back stronger. “Disappointed to be ruled out through injury but I’ll work as hard as I can to be back as soon as possible. Thanks,” he tweeted.

Moses eyes Chelsea return
Nigeria international and Stoke City forward Victor Moses has admitted that he is not too keen on pushing a permanent move with Stoke City.
The 23-year-old forward, who has been in blistering form for the Potters since moving to the Britannia Stadium from Chelsea, said his aim is to ensure Stoke City finish well on the league table before thinking about his future.
“I’m still a Chelsea player. I am here to help Stoke as a club to make sure they are in the right position in the Premier League. And I will keep working hard and trying to help the team as long as I am here,” Moses told Stoke Sentinel.
Moses also made known his innocence following an attack from Swansea manager Gary Monk that he dived to win a penalty against them in an English Premier League encounter.
“If you look at the picture, there was contact. To be honest, he (Monk) shouldn’t have said that. That’s the mistake he made. It was a clear penalty. My conscience is clear, I got a penalty and now we move on. That really meant a lot to me, everyone supporting me. The chairman in the paper, everyone was behind me and I was very pleased with that.”
He said Stoke supporters seem to have embraced him from day one and that has helped him settle after an unproductive campaign on loan at Anfield last season.
“The fans have been fantastic for me so far. Singing my name really helps me to go out determined to work even harder to help keep the club in a good position and to keep the fans happy. I just want to play football and obviously the manager has given me the opportunity. I’m starting to enjoy my football again.”
Moses has started eight of Stoke’s 10 Premier League games and he scored his first league goal for the club in his side’s 2-2 draw with West Ham.

Nigeria attacking winger, Victor Moses, has played down talks of sealing a permanent move to Stoke City.
Moses is currenty on loan from Chelsea to Stoke City for the season, and he has already hit the ground running with eye-catching performance.
However, the former Crystal Palace man preferred to talk about helping The Potters finish this season as high as possible in the English top flight.
The 23-year-old winger also made it clear he is “still a Chelsea player.”
“I’m still a Chelsea player. I am here to help Stoke as a club to make sure they are in the right position in the Premier League.
“And I will keep working hard and trying to help the team as long as I am here,” said Moses.
Moses, who had a tough time at Liverpool last season while on loan from Chelsea, said he is beginning to enjoy playing football once more.
He also credited the Stoke City chairman (Peter Coates) and supporters for backing him even in the face criticism during the controversy surrounding the penalty he won in a league game against Swansea.
“That really meant a lot to me, everyone supporting me. The chairman in the paper, everyone was behind me and I was very pleased with that. The fans have been fantastic for me so far. I’m starting to enjoy my football again,” he said.

Moses’ injury worries Keshi
Head coach of the Nigeria national team, Stephen Keshi has expressed worry over the recent injury picked up by Stoke City winger, Victor Moses.
Moses pulled up injured in Stoke’s 1-3 defeat to Sunderland in the Barclays English Premier League on Saturday.
He provided the assist for Stoke’s solitary goal at the Stadium of Light, dispatched by Charlie Adam, before he was forced off with the injury.
He is now a huge doubt for Nigeria’s 2015 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying double-header against Sudan.
Speaking exclusively to supersport.com, Keshi expressed concern about the injury and expressed hope that it is not as serious as is feared in some quarters.
“I was naturally worried to see him (Moses) get injured (on Saturday). He’s been in good form and I just hope that the injury is not that serious because we need him for those important games against Sudan,” Keshi said.
Meanwhile Stoke City manager, Mark Hughes says the extent of Moses’ injury is not yet clear.
He suffered a recurrence of the tight thigh he injured in Monday’s win over Newcastle, but Hughes defended the decision to start the on-loan winger against the Black Cats.
“Victor had a bit of tightness after the Newcastle game (on Monday).
“But he felt discomfort and we weren’t going to take a risk. We are hoping it’s nothing serious, but given nothing showed on the scan we’ve got to get to the bottom of what’s causing it,” he said.

Stoke sweat on ‘slight’ Victor Moses injury
Stoke City boss, Mark Hughes is hoping Super Eagles forward, Victor Moses can shake off a slight injury in time ahead of today’s game against Sunderland.
The Nigeria international could require a late fitness test after suffering what his manager called “a slight tightness in his thigh” which forced him off shortly before the end of Monday’s 1-0 win over Newcastle United.
“Victor Moses has a little bit of tightness in his thigh which we need to keep an eye on too. We are hoping that it won’t compromise him,” Hughes said ahead of the team’s trip to the Stadium of Light.
Hughes also confirmed that forward Peter Odemwingie will not play again this year after undergoing knee surgery last month, but there is better news regarding full-back Geoff Cameron, who is stepping up his recovery from a hernia.
“Peter Odemwingie is going to be out well in to the new year,” Hughes added. “Whether he makes the end of the campaign or not is something we will have to look at.
“The operation went well and we will give him time to heal. It is hugely positive for him, and for us, is that he has a tremendous attitude. He will come back from this.
“Geoff Cameron has trained this week but he isn’t yet fit enough to be involved. He needs another week before he is available.”

Enyeama, Moses return to Eagles squad
Stephen Keshi has named goalkeeper and skipper Vincent Enyeama and 23 others for next month’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations must-win qualifying tango away and home to Sudan.
Both teams clash in Khartoum on October 10 before trading tackles at the National Stadium, Abuja four days later.
Keshi has also included a handful of new faces, including former junior international Raheem Lawal, China –based striker Aaron Samuel and relatively unknown Anyora Ugonna, who plays in Norway.
There are also opportunities for World Cup star-boy Babatunde Michael, back from injury, Reading of England’s Hope Akpan and Austria –based forward Sunday Emmanuel.
African champions Nigeria must win both matches against pointless Sudan next month to have any realistic chance of reaching the finals in Morocco early next year.

Moses to start against Newcastle
Super Eagles forward Victor Moses as usual be leading the attack alongside Peter Crouch when Stoke face Newcastle in the premiership on Monday. Moses who contributed a great deal to Stoke’s 2-2 away draw to Queens Park Rangers last Saturday has been listed to start the home tie against embattled Newcastle with coach Mark Hughes hoping that the former Wigan Athletic ace who has been named in Stephen Keshi’s 22 man list to face Sudan on October 10, can repeat their blend against Newcastle.
Aside from Moses other players that have been listed in the first 11 to compound Newcastle woes include Begovic: Bardsley, Shawcross, Wilson, Pieters; Whelan, N’Zonzi; Diouf and Adam.
Stoke Manager Mark Hughes, who did not hide his satisfaction with Moses’ contribution is not only hoping for a repeat performance but is also hoping that the Nigerian international will score to further push Stoke currently in the 13th up the table
Predictions favour Stoke to carry the day with some fans already tipping Moses to score. Some, however, opine that victory will not come on a platter for Stoke playing at home notwithstanding. Newcastle, still basking in the euphoria of 2-3 away victory over Crystal Palace Wednesday in the league One cup, will be gingered by the away win to push for impressive result, an indication that Moses and his teammates will have to need to clinical to grab the desired resul

Hughes in dilemma over Moses
Manager of Stoke City Mark Hughes has admitted Victor Moses has added to his selection problem ahead of today’s game against Manchester City.
The Stoke boss admits he is tempted to throw the Chelsea loanee in from the start after being impressed by his first appearance for the Potters in the 4-2 Capital One Cup victory on Wednesday against Portsmouth.
Moses was voted sponsor’s and fan Man of the Match after a near faultless showing against Portsmouth.
“It’s still a little bit early for him,” said Hughes to Stoke Sentinel.
“So we will see whether he starts or comes on, but he’ll play a part, I’m certain of that.
“He looks strong, but was visually tiring against Portsmouth the other night. We’ve got an international break coming up as well, so that’s an opportunity to do more conditioning work with him.
“It’s important you don’t put anybody at risk, and I’ll speak to the medical staff and the sports scientist (before deciding what to do).
“Obviously I have the final say, but more often than not I would try to protect the assets we’ve got.”
Whether or not Moses does play a significant part today, Hughes is increasingly convinced the 23-year-old winger will become a hit at the Britannia Stadium during his season-long loan.
“I thought he was excellent against Portsmouth,” he continued. “I think he’s shown everybody the talent he’s got and the reasons why I bought him to the club. He’s got pace, ability, can retain possession and is powerful on the ball. We wanted to be strong in wide areas, and there were a number of players we tried to bring in. It wasn’t for the lack of trying.
“He hasn’t had as much game time as his talent deserves, but if he plays like he did against Portsmouth then he will get a lot of game time while he is here.”
