Uche Montana denies drug claims in Regina Daniels, Ned Nwoko feud

Actress Uche Montana has broken silence on the ongoing controversy surrounding Senator Ned Nwoko and estranged wife, Regina Daniels.

In a statement on Instagram, Uche Montana denied allegations that linked her to Regina’s drug-related issues, stating that she has no involvement or connection to the situation.

She wrote: “I wasn’t going to say anything, but I feel it’s important to clear the air. My attention has been drawn to a circulating post that appears to link my name to certain claims.

“For clarity, I have no involvement or connection to the situation described. This note is simply to set the record straight and protect my peace”.

The controversy began when Ned Nwoko accused Regina Daniels’ colleagues, including Uche Montana, of undermining rehabilitation by bringing her the same drugs she was being treated for.

“Unfortunately, Sammy, Destiny, some of their siblings, together with a few of their friends, notably Uche Montana among others, constantly defied those instructions. They would come into the house uninvited, sometimes forcing their way in, and would bring her the same drugs she was being treated for. Instead of helping her recover, they encouraged her addiction and completely frustrated the efforts of the doctors and therapists working with her,” he alleged.

However, Uche Montana, on Monday morning, denied these allegations, stating that she is focused on her career and peace.

Nwoko, Regina Daniels fight dirty over drug claims, brother’s arrest

Senator Ned Nwoko (North East) and actress Regina Daniels have opened more cans of worms over the marital crisis marked by drug allegations, family arrests and competing claims of abuse.

In a detailed post on X on Saturday night, Nwoko accused Daniels’ brother Sammy West of repeated harassment at the family compound, including a 4 am confrontation a month ago..

“Just four weeks ago, I woke up around 4 a.m. and realised that Regina was in my room and on the phone. She was clearly high… I told Regina that the girl had to leave, and one of my drivers dropped her off. Thirty minutes later, Sammy came to my house shouting and demanding that I come downstairs to face him.

“I eventually went downstairs and had to instruct the security to physically push him out of my compound. The level of audacity was shocking. Without the influence of drugs, could he have been so bold and disrespectful?” Nwoko recounted.

He released security footage showing West being removed by guards.

“These videos show Sammy, Regina’s brother, repeatedly coming to my home and harassing my children and domestic staff, especially whenever I was not around. His visits were often aggressive and disruptive,” Nwoko wrote on his X handle on Saturday.

The senator claimed he funded West’s university education, music equipment and an Abuja apartment as well as transferring N125 million to Daniels’ mother, Rita, over two years.

Daniels responded on Instagram on Sunday morning, admitting past drug use but rejecting Nwoko’s narrative.

She said: “Fine, I did drugs. So what? Is that even the issue between us? The moment we had a fight, you rushed to the public, shouting ‘drugs, drugs, drugs,’ because you knew it would make a perfect story for the media — something dramatic enough to distract everyone from the real issue!”

She claimed he encouraged intoxication for s3xual reasons and isolated her by targeting family.

“You say you want me to go for rehab but you are the same Ned who always wanted me high because, in your words, I’m ‘sexier’ when I’m high. You liked me that way because it made me wild and romantic exactly how you wanted me to be.

“You want to find a reason to arrest everyone around me so that I will have no one left beside me… Then, when I’m completely isolated and broken, I will be forced to come back to you because I will have nowhere else to go,” she added”.

She stated there was no court-registered marriage and described the relationship as non-consensual in its later stages.

“No matter how much you think you spent on me, it can never equal the value of the time I gave you, my prime years, my energy, and the career opportunities I sacrificed while being with you.

“And for the record, I would have filed for divorce long ago if there had ever been a legal marriage between us. We were never married in any court of law… Leave me alone, Ned. Marriage is not by force. Love is not by force,” she said.

This development follows weeks of reports about Daniels’ marital troubles with husband, whom she accused of domestic violence in an earlier social media post.

Nwoko, however, denied the allegations, blaming her behaviour on alleged drug and alcohol abuse.

He stated that Regina’s “current battle with substance abuse” had caused strain in their marriage and insisted she undergo rehabilitation.

How Nigeria can tackle crude oil theft- Ned Nwoko

Chairman of the Senate Ad Hoc Committee on Crude Oil Theft and Sabotage, Senator Ned Nwoko raised concerns about the menace of crude oil in the country and suggested how the challenge can be addressed.

Nwoko disclosed this while presenting the committee’s interim report before the Senate.

He said: “Our investigation has so far uncovered massive revenue losses amounting to over $300 billion in unaccounted crude oil proceeds over the years. This represents one of the most troubling cases of economic sabotage our nation has ever faced.”

The committee, he said, has  “made far-reaching recommendations to end this long-standing menace. These include: The strict enforcement of international crude oil measurement standards at all production and export points.

Polygamy key to marital stability – Ned Nwoko

Senator Ned Nwoko has defended polygamy, stating that having multiple wives brings balance and stability to a man’s life.

He revealed this in an interview on Channels TV on Politics today.

The lawmaker representing Delta North, who has four wives, expressed sympathy for men with only one wife, likening their situation to standing on one leg.

He said: “Yes, all men should do that. For instance, just imagine standing on one foot or leg. You know how difficult it is. But to stand on 2, 3 or 4 is more balanced. So, I feel sorry for those who have one wife ‘cos it’s difficult to stand on one leg.”

Ned Nwoko denies taking another wife amid viral photo

Senator Ned Nwoko (Delta North) has refuted viral reports claiming he has taken another wife, clarifying that the woman seen with him in a trending video has no personal connection with him.

In a statement on his official Instagram  handle, the Delta North senator addressed the rumors, describing them as “false” and “mischievous.”

“A video recently brought to my attention shows a young woman who visited with her team under the Peace Ambassadors initiative, led by Ambassador Dr. Adejo Sule, and it is now being circulated online with false claims attempting to affiliate me with her. It is unfortunate what social media has become, a space where moments are easily twisted for clout and misinformation,” he said.

He explained that the visit was purely formal and photos taken during the courtesy call were being misrepresented online.

“During the visit, photographs were taken with members of the delegation, as is customary whenever I receive guests. This is not unusual; even in public places or outdoor events, people often request to take pictures with me, and I oblige. It is therefore mischievous and malicious for anyone to exploit such gestures to fabricate false narratives.”

Nwoko further stated that there was no personal relationship with the the woman in question.

He also warned those spreading the misinformation to desist or face legal consequences.

According to him: “I strongly caution individuals, groups, or media outlets spreading this fabricated story to desist immediately. Any further propagation of this false narrative will attract appropriate legal action. The Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015 remains in full force and applies to anyone involved in the deliberate spread of falsehood or defamation in cyberspace.”

The statement comes amid ongoing social media chatter about the senator’s marriage to actress Regina Daniels, with fans speculating about a possible new wife after the video surfaced online.

  • Ned Nwoko’s renewed advocacy for Anioma State

Ned Nwoko’s renewed advocacy for Anioma State

Sir: Since he was sworn into office in 2023, the senator representing Delta North Senatorial District has led a renewed advocacy for the creation of Anioma State out of Delta State. This is only a continuation of the pioneering efforts of leaders like Dennis Osadebe, Senator Nosike Ikpo, and Chief Philip Asiodu, a fact which needs no further rehashing.

However, it must be noted that the quest around delineating a sub-national territory or state for the people variously referred to, through colonial, post-colonial, and even in contemporary time as Western-Igbo, Bendel-Igbo, and now Delta-Igbo, is arguably the longest running social-political agitation for delineation of a sub-national jurisdiction in the country.

Today, this sincere agitation has spurned many copy-cat requests for a myriad of new states from all the regions of the country, some of them deserving, others spurious and shameless opportunism. In this atmosphere, only a creative and compelling argument, like a good ad copy, can attract the attention necessary to give traction to our agitation. Senator Nwoko must therefore be commended for recognizing this need and anchoring his Anioma State advocacy on the need for the Southeast to have at least six states like the rest of the five informal regions in the country.

It is surprising that this logical strategy has elicited obtuse opposition in some quarters in Anioma area. But here is the stark reality: While there may be a slim chance of creating a new state anywhere in Nigeria from our rigid constitution, there is zilch – zero chance of creating a new state in the South-south region. In case there are some who are unaware, all the regions have at least six states, except the Southeast which has only five. This situation has left the door a crack ajar, and all reasonable Anioma people must do everything humanly possible to lend a hand to Senator Ned Nwoko to push it open. It will not be easy, seeing that the people in the Southeast know that they have the most justified need for an extra state, and are themselves pursuing their objective through the same argument. But we must be opportunistic and dispassionate, and instead of the Igbophobic pre-rational opposition to this cause, we should make cold-blooded calculations. Especially, since getting a new state for ourselves trumps any perceived disadvantage that may arise.

Regional sub-groupings are informal arrangements that bear no hand in the administration and functioning of states, which are fully independent entities and cooperate directly with the federal government. None of those who disclaim Igbo ethnicity would be forced to swear allegiance to Igboness. But I must say that it is quite painful to have to spell this out publicly, for it gives a heads up to our competitors in the struggle for new states.

Now, a few words about Anioma-Igbo identity. I have interacted with many elders who went to school in the 1950s and 1960s, and even read the biography of a great Anioma son who was born in the 1800s. It was interesting to notice that they all saw themselves as Igbo before the Civil War. This Igbo denialism seemed to have originated in the trauma of that period, which pushed some of us into retreating into presumably safe ancestral identity: Ika, Ukwuani, Enuani etc, or historical origin narratives like; we came from Benin, Igalla, and others. But this kind of reasoning negate the fact that ethnicity is dynamic and can change over a long period of time.

I have heard the Oba of Lagos say that they originated from Benin, but never heard him say his people are Bini. Over the centuries, whatever their provenance, they have become full-blooded Yoruba. The Philistines, Jebusites, Egyptians and Babylonians of biblical times are the Arabs of today. And among the Arabs there are still many subdivisions, the same way we have Yoruba subgroups like Awori, Ijebu, Ekiti, and Okun, or even the English who have splinters like Scousers, Yorkshiremen, and Geordies. In my understanding, the Igbo are not monolithic. They could be Mbaise, Enuani, Ika, Nsukka, Ukwuani, or Ebonyi, and have different strands of dialects, but are bound by a common super-Igbo tongue.

So, even if you disagree about our Igbo ancestry, this should not stand in the way of fulfilling our long-held aspiration for an Anioma State, which is best achieved under the guise of a sixth state in the informal Southeast region.  Remaining in self-defeating opposition will be foreign to our commonsensical Anioma ethos.

  • Netizens react to Regina Daniels, Ned Nwoko viral ‘bathroom’ video

Netizens react to Regina Daniels, Ned Nwoko viral ‘bathroom’ video

Actress Regina Daniels caused a stir on social media on Monday with a video of herself and her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, using the restroom.

The viral video captured the look on Ned’s face as he seemingly showed his displeasure before going on to pee.

Regina, who’s a mother of two, was seen quickly blocking the camera’s view as her husband appeared to be using the restroom.

According to the timestamp on the video, the incident occurred around 5:30 am.

The playful moment has since generated a flurry of comments from fans, with many praising Regina for her swift and protective gesture, while others found humor in the early morning recording.

While some praised the actress for her protective gesture and sense of humor, others criticised the video as being inappropriate and disrespectful.

One social media user commented: “He saw the video recording and still brought it out. I didn’t even see anything, so everyone should rest. If he had a problem with it, he would have asked her to delete it.”

    Another critic wrote:“So disrespectful.”

A third user added: “It’s shameful! To showcase a serving senator this way is completely unacceptable.”

State creation: Nwoko urges Anioma indigenes to accept Igbo identity

Senator Ned Nwoko called on the people of Anioma in Delta State to fully embrace their Igbo identity and align with their eastern counterparts in the struggle for unity, justice, and political relevance.

Speaking at a high-powered conference in Asaba, organised by the Igbo Unification Movement and Ndi na Asu Bia, the Delta North lawmaker declared: “There is no argument about our Igbo-ness… The time has come to reverse the old narratives that separated us from our brothers across the Niger.”

The event themed “Igbo Bu Ofu” (Igbos Are One) brought together activists and traditional leaders from across Delta, Edo, and the South-East, reinforcing growing support for Igbo-speaking border communities to reclaim their place in the wider Igbo narrative.

Nwoko, who recently sponsored a bill for the creation of Anioma State, said the demand is not about partisan politics but about historical correction and identity restoration.

“This is not about APC, PDP, or Labour Party. I have no interest in being governor. I want Anioma to stand tall with its own state, with Asaba as its capital,” he said, adding that this aligns with Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s vision of recognising Anioma as an Igbo state.

Recalling the trauma of the Nigerian civil war, Nwoko lamented how Anioma communities were forced to deny their Igbo roots to escape persecution.

“We faced ethnic cleansing. Our people had to pretend they were not Igbo to survive. That identity crisis must end,” he said.

He commended researchers like Prof. Abigail Ogwezzy of the University of Lagos for their scholarly work on Anioma’s linguistic and cultural heritage, which he said reinforces the group’s undeniable Igbo lineage.

The Igbo Unification Movement and Ndi na Asu Bia, now vocal platforms for cultural revival, argue that a united Igbo identity is key to political strength and reversing decades of marginalisation.

Ending his address with a rallying call, Nwoko said: “Just like a Chinese man is Chinese anywhere in the world, the Igbo man is Igbo, whether from Delta, Imo, or Abia. Anioma must rise to embrace its identity.”

He urged continued advocacy, education, and mobilisation, saying only through unity can Anioma achieve statehood and the Igbo nation regain its full voice in Nigeria’s political landscape.

  • ‘Senator Ned Nwoko not leaving APC’

‘Senator Ned Nwoko not leaving APC’

Senator Ned Nwoko (Delta North) has no intention of leaving the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Leonard Esegbue, Director General, Ned Nwoko Campaign Organisation, 2019/former Commissioner has stated.

Esegbue said the insinuation of Nwoko’s potential departure from the APC is the handiwork of mischief makers who are envious of the Senator’s rising political profile and reassured the people of Delta North and Nigerians that there is no truth whatsoever in the rumour.

He said Nwoko is committed to the APC and he is ready to go the whole hog with the party.

Asegbue asserted that the rumours of Nwoko considering leaving the APC are not based on truth but are rather the product of detractors aiming to create discontent between him and the President, whom he supports for the 2027 presidential election.

He urged those spreading rumours to cease their actions and focus on more productive endeavours, indicating a desire to maintain a positive political discourse.

He stated with an assurance that any future political announcements regarding Senator Nwoko would be made under the auspices of the APC, reinforcing his dedication to the party.

He said the clarifications served to clarify Nwoko’s political intentions and discourage the spread of unfounded rumours, reinforcing his loyalty to the APC amidst external pressures and narratives.

Nwoko defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC on February 5, 2025.

Nwoko’s defection made headlines and was hailed by his friends, supporters and his constituents as the best decision at the time.

Angela Okorie apologises to Mercy Johnson, Ned Nwoko over online outburst

Actress Angela Okorie has tendered a public apology to fellow actress Mercy Johnson and Senator Ned Nwoko for her previous outburst on social media.

In a heartfelt message shared on her Instagram page, Angela admitted she spoke from a place of pain and acknowledged that her words may have been hurtful.

She explained that her emotions often get the best of her, leading her to speak impulsively without fully considering the impact of her statements.

Appealing directly to Mercy Johnson, Angela pleaded for forgiveness and asked her to let go of the incident, extending warm wishes to her and her family.

She wrote, “Hi, beautiful people, these past days have been a period of intense reflection for me.

Lately, having reminisced on certain events that had transpired, I can only thank God that I am alive.

“It’s no secret that Mercy Johnson and I have had some difficult issues circulating on social media; moving forward, I would like to address this matter.

“I am human, and when my emotions take over, I speak from the heart, often saying things directly as they come to me, especially when I feel hurt. Once I’ve expressed myself, I forget about it and move on, but I realise now that my utterances, whether uttered from the place of pain or not, were hurtful; some events that have happened these past days made me realise that I should have done better. I feel so sorry having realized how this gets to you, Mercy. Your mental health is very important now and ever & I wouldn’t wish you and your family worse; that’s not my nature, and you know it. Do find a place in your heart to forgive me”.

Angela also apologised to Senator Ned Nwoko, explaining that she reacted poorly to an unprovoked attack and regretted her actions.

“Furthermore, my sincere apology also goes to Senator Ned Nwoko. I understand that my anger in trying to make a reply didn’t find you in a good state; it was a reaction to an unprovoked bashing and attack that was blown out of proportion. I truly reacted in a way I now recognise wasn’t pleasant. I cannot intentionally disrespect you for whatever reason. To buttress this, I remember being part of your political campaign, the one you brought ZuleZoo, myself & other artists.

I have also honoured your family’s yearly children’s carnival when invited.

“All these have made me realize that being at peace is better than war or fighting. I deeply regret my actions and am sorry”.

The apology comes after a series of events that led to Angela’s realisation that she should have handled things differently.

She also mentioned being the target of lies, betrayal, and unwarranted attacks, but chose to forgive those who hurt her.

“I’ve also been the target of lies, betrayal, and unwarranted attacks. Bloggers have spread false information, and people have created videos filled with blatant lies. The betrayal has been overwhelming, but I forgive everyone who has hurt me and leave them to face their own conscience”.
