    FG orders probe into alleged N5.2m extortion by NSCDC officers in Ekiti

    The federal government has launched an investigation into the alleged extortion of ₦5.2 million by personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) from a group of youths in Ekiti State.

    The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, directed the probe, according to a statement released by his media aide, Alao Babatunde.

    The officers were accused in a viral social media post of extorting the money from young men travelling from Ado-Ekiti to Akure, Ondo State.

    Dr. Tunji-Ojo assured the public that any officer found guilty would be dealt with in accordance with the law.

    “We will not tolerate any form of misconduct from our security agencies. 

    “We are building a paramilitary that is disciplined, professional and serve Nigeria and Nigerians with all sense of diginity and patriotism. 

    “On this case, we will see that justice is upheld and ensure that security personnel serve with forthrightness,” the Minister said.

    NSCDC arrests man with gun in Bokkos church premises

    Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Plateau State has arrested a man allegedly found with firearms in a church premises in Bokkos Local Government Area.

    The suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed, was apprehended about 8:30 a.m. on Sunday during a routine patrol by operatives around the church compound.

    Some communities in Bokkos were recently attacked by gunmen leading to the death of several persons.

    It was further gathered that the suspect could not explain or provide legal documentation for the gun.

    NSCDC operatives arrest seven over illegal oil dumps in Abuja

    No fewer than seven suspects have been arrested by the Special Intelligence Squad of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for operating illegal oil dumps in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.

    The oil dumps located in Jahi/Katampe axis of the FCT have been taken over by security operatives investigating the activities of suspected oil thieves and their collaborators in the oil industry.

    According to the Commander of the Special Squad, Sani Dandaura, the suspects were arrested based on intelligence tip-off and reports of illegal refining of petroleum products.

    “Acting on the Intelligence received my men and I swung into action and uncovered 5 illegal oil dumps out of the 7 raided.

    “The suspects arrested during the sting operations are Akande Olusola, Anas Usman, Jonathan Onekutu, Uchenna Kelechi, Chukwuma Solomon,  Monday Israel, and Bello”, Dandaura said.

    The Squad recovered over 26 different items from the suspects, among them were heavy-duty trucks and cars, as well as containers, Maikano Generators, and pumping machines.

    Among the items recovered from them were a white colour truck with Reg. no. GYA-777XA with three compartments fully loaded with 45,000ltrs of AGO with an unverifiable WayBill seen at the illegal dump, a Mercedes Benz Short Peddler Truck 1202 model with Reg. no FST-425XB and four  Short Peddler trucks with Reg. RSH-197ZANSR-27YW while 2 others are without visible Reg. Number.

    The Commandant said that the NSCDC would approach the Court for prosecution of the suspects, promising that due diligence would be observed in the investigation and prosecution process to ensure that justice is served on the matter.

    Easter: NSCDC deploys 705 personnel across Abia to strengthen security

    The Abia State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced the deployment of 705 officers across the state’s 17 local government areas to ensure the safety of lives and property during the Easter period.

    State Commandant Akinsola Aderemi disclosed that the move is a proactive measure by the command to maintain peace and order before, during, and after the holidays.

    According to Aderemi, the deployed officers will be strategically stationed at key public locations, including churches, markets, motor parks, and other high-traffic areas across the state.

    He emphasised that the operation would be executed with the highest level of professionalism and that personnel would work in synergy with other security agencies to provide 24-hour surveillance and protection.

    The NSCDC boss also called on residents to stay alert and promptly report any suspicious activity to the nearest security agency.

    He said, “I am committed to ensuring the safety and security of all Abians before, during, and after this Easter period.

    “I assure the public of the unwavering dedication to duty and unrelenting effort of my officers to protect lives and properties in the State. I wish you all a happy Easter Celebration.”

    Easter: NSCDC deploys 3,500 personnel across FCT to ensure security

    The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Olusola Odumosu, has ordered the deployment of 3,500 personnel across Abuja and its environs to maintain law and order during the Easter celebrations.

    Speaking at the Corps’ headquarters in Abuja while addressing officers ahead of the Easter operations, Odumosu said the deployment is aimed at safeguarding Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, as well as protecting lives and property of residents and visitors throughout the festive period.

    According to him, the personnel were drawn from various departments and specialized units including Operations, Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI), Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Explosives (CBRNE), Mines and Steel, Special Duty, Special Protection Unit (SPU), Anti-Vandals Unit, and elite squads such as the Female Strike Force, Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Arms Squad, and Operation Adakasu.

    Odumosu emphasized the importance of securing vulnerable locations and soft targets such as churches, markets, shopping malls, motor parks, recreational centres, amusement parks, the city gate, and the Three Arms Zone.

    He also directed that all government buildings and locations housing key national infrastructure must be adequately guarded to prevent acts of vandalism, which tend to rise during festive seasons.

    “On no account should any Critical Infrastructure be vandalized during the Easter holiday, therefore, adequate deployment of personnel to all nooks and crannies of the FCT must be ensured.

    “The government has given us a responsibility to protect lives and property, maintain peace, order and to keep miscreants and criminals at bay and, take note, they are observing our activities keenly. 

    “We have no excuse for failure and we can’t afford to fail, that is why personally, I will be on patrol as usual to ensure compliance and i won’t tolerate any form of indiscipline, compromise or any activities that would jettison our efforts in providing satisfactory security coverage for the FCT”, the Commandant said.

    NSCDC arrests spare parts dealer for allegedly defiling two teenagers

    A45-year-old vehicle spare parts dealer, Ganiyu Kehinde is in the custody of the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for alleged homosexuality and defilement of two teenage boys at lpata-Oloje, Ilorin, the state capital.

    The command’s spokesperson Ayoola Shola said the incident was reported at the Gender Unit of the command on Monday by the parents of the victims and some members of the community.

    They alleged that the suspect had engaged in repeated homosexual acts with the two teenage boys, aged 15 and 19.

    Shola said: “Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect lured the victims with monetary gifts, giving them N500 on separate occasions after having carnal knowledge with them.”

    “The victims further disclosed that the suspect sexually assaulted them through anal intercourse multiple times, at his residence and in an uncompleted building in Oko-Olowo, Ilorin.

    The victims are undergoing medical and psychological assessments to support their recovery and the ongoing investigation.

    “While the suspect denied the allegations of sexual penetration, he admitted allowing the boys to sleep on his chest, describing the interaction as harmless.”

    “The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the ongoing investigation, in accordance with legal provisions.”

    He emphasised: “Sexual abuse, particularly against minors, is a grievous offence and a direct attack on the moral fabric of our society. We are determined to ensure that justice is served, and that perpetrators of such heinous crimes are brought to book.”

    NSCDC operatives impound 70,000 litres of stolen crude in Rivers State

    The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have impounded 70,000 litres of stolen crude oil in Eleme axis of Portharcourt, Rivers State. 

    The stolen crude oil was impounded by the Special Intelligence Squad, established by the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Dr Ahmed Audi. 

    A statement from the Public Relations Officer of the Corps in Abuja, Babawale Afolabi said the Squad had the mandate to “forestall incidents of pipeline Vandalism, Crude oil theft and illegal dealings in petroleum products in the Niger Delta”.

    He explained in a swift response to an Intelligence tip-off, the Squad impounded a long Caravan Truck with an in-built tank fully loaded with stolen crude oil.

    The truck was sighted while on transit around Eleme flyover in Elelewon, Port Harcourt and was impounded by the Special Squad, Afolabi said. 

    According to him, the Commandant the Special Squad, Sani Dandaura hinted that his men were swiftly deployed to the crime scene and upon arrival they impounded a red head navy blue colour container truck with Registration number AGL574XY which was fully loaded with siphoned stolen crude illegally drawn from vandalised well-heads and destroyed pipelines.

    Commandant Dandaura said the owners of the Truck took to their heels as the operatives approached the scene of the crime. 

    He noted that the exhibits are already confiscated as investigative process have been launched to track down the syndicate behind the crime. 

    “For the records, the exhibits recovered at the point of arrest are, a red head and navy blue colour container with 10 tyres (Reg.no AGL564-XL), an estimated content of about 70,000 litres of stolen crude,” he said. 

    The Commander further expressed the commitment of the Squad to keep waging relentless war against oil thieves and their sponsors as he affirmed that suspects arrested would be brought to book after diligent investigation.

    Abia NSCDC deploys 1310 personnel ahead of Eid El-fitr celebration

    Abia State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says that it will be deploying about 1310 personnel ahead of the 2025 Eid-El-Fitr celebrations in the state.

    This is even as the State Commandant of the federal government security agency, Akinsola Aderemi has assured the Muslim community, Abians and visitors to the state within and after the salah celebration of their safety.

    According to the State Commandant, the operational order for the celebration period has been communicated to the Area Commanders and the Divisional Officers covering all the local government areas in the state, with special attention given to the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure.

    Aderemi further disclosed that the Rapid Response Squad, Tactical Team, and the Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU) would continue to patrol within the areas that they described as black spots, vulnerable locations, recreational centers, and other flash points to nip in the bud any criminal intentions.

    He added that the operatives from the Female Squad, Anti-vandal Unit, and Agro Rangers Unit would coordinate and watchfully protect lives and properties before, during, and after the Salah Celebration.

    The Commandant assured Abians that NSCDC will be civil and professional in the discharge of their assignment and also appealed to the good people of Abia State to be security conscious and law-abiding.

    In the State Commandant’s words “Report any suspicious movement of persons or consignment to the security agencies around you. I wish all Muslim faithful a blessed Salah Celebration”.

    NSCDC deploys 1,300 ahead of Eid-el- fitri celebration in Edo

    The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 1,300 personnel across Edo to ensure security during the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

    The Federal Government declared March 31 and April 1 as public holidays for the Islamic festival, marking the end of the 30-day Ramadan fast.

    Efosa Ogbebor, Head of the Public Relations and Media Unit of the NSCDC Command in Edo, said this in a statement on Friday in Benin.

    Ogbebor said that the state commandant, Mr Gbenga Agun, announced the deployment during a briefing on Friday.

    According to Ogbebor, the personnel will be stationed at Eid prayer grounds, palaces, monuments, and recreational centers across the state to ensure maximum security.

    “Commandant Agun emphasised that the command has expanded its intelligence network to preempt and neutralise any security threats during the celebrations,” the statement read.

    He assured residents that the security of lives and property before, during, and after the festival remained the command’s top priority.

    The commandant directed all unit commanders, tactical team heads, area commanders, and divisional officers to maintain a smooth, crime-free, and secure environment throughout the festivities.

    He also urged the public to cooperate with security personnel and provide useful information to help identify and curb criminal activities.

    Eid-el-Fitr: NSCDC deploys 2,800 personnel

    Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 2,800 personnel to protect critical national assets and ensure public safety.during Eid-el-Fitr  in the state.

    The state Commandant, Dr Umar J. G. Mohammed said the personnel had been strategically deployed in the 16 local government areas. Mohammed said priority had been given to high-risk zones, including black spots, flashpoints, vulnerable locations, and areas prone to criminal activities.

    The NSCDC chief added that specialised tactical teams and intelligence operatives had been mobilised to conduct surveillance, deter criminal activities, and respond swiftly to emergencies.

    “Additionally, Area Commanders and Divisional Officers have been directed to intensify patrols and enhance operational effectiveness throughout the festive period,” he said.

    Mohammed urged residents to remain security-conscious and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by reporting any suspicious activities.
