    NSCDC issues fresh licences to 28 private security organisations

    The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Dr Ahmed  Audi has presented 28 Operating Licenses to Chief Executive Officers, (CEOs) of  Private Security Guard Companies in the country. 

    Addressing the National Executives of the Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALPSPN) and the Newly registered Members, Dr Audi said the business of enhancing effective security across the nation is a collective responsibility which calls for prompt and timely Intelligence gathering.

     Audi was represented by the Deputy Commandant General Directorate of Technical Services, DCG Zakari Ibrahim Ningi, who made the presentation of licences to newly registered Companies at Corps’ National Headquarters in Abuja.

    The public relations officer of the NSCDC, Babawale Afolabi said in a statement that the private guard companies were urged to adhere strictly to lay down rules and regulations as established by the law of the land. 

    ‘We are acquainted with the fact that most of the Chief Executive Officers of the Private Guard Companies are ex-service men whose wealth of experience would stimulate and provide credible Intelligence needed to enhance adequate security;  premise on this, you are therefore charged to uphold the integrity and standards of professionalism and commitment so that together we can build a nation; safe for investors and habitable for technological advancement across board”, Dr Audi said. 

    The Commandant General explained that  though the licences might be for business profit, it is also an opportunity for them to contribute their quota to strenghten national security.

    “Be assured that your companies would be assessed and rated based on adherence to regulatory requirements therefore; future relationships with the Corps, including renewal of your licenses shall be based on your performance”, the NSCDC boss said. 

    The NSCDC Boss further stated that the licences are issued in a time when Unified Training Curriculum which translates to guards being exposed to the same training irrespective of their location in Nigeria is launched. 

    While congratulating the newly licensed companies, he urged them to maintain the qualities of integrity, impeccable character and trustworthiness which were considered requirements before the approval of their licenses. 

    The Assistant Commandant General (ACG) in charge of Private Guard Companies Department, ACG Peter Maigari, who described the process as rigorous, reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to professionalism and service to the country.

    Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has charged personnel of the corps in Abia State to intensify efforts in safeguarding the nation’s critical infrastructure.

    Speaking during his official visit to the Abia State Command as part of his tour of the Southeast, Prof. Audi raised concerns over the increasing threats posed by asymmetric warfare and criminal activities such as illegal oil bunkering and vandalism of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI).

    He warned that unchecked acts of economic sabotage could severely impact Nigeria’s economy, including its Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

    Reaffirming NSCDC’s core mandate to protect national infrastructure, Prof. Audi said the corps is ramping up efforts to address threats and enhance operational efficiency across the country.

    “The tour is not just ceremonial. It is part of a broader strategy to assess field performance, strengthen security operations, and ensure improved outcomes in Abia and the Southeast,” he said.

    On staff welfare, the Commandant General reiterated his commitment to capacity building, prompt payment of entitlements, and enhanced insurance packages to boost morale and performance.

    Prof. Audi also commissioned a newly constructed office complex at the state command headquarters, built under the leadership of the Abia State Commandant, Akinsola Aderemi. He praised the commandant’s initiative and urged him to sustain the momentum.

    He expressed gratitude to the Abia State Government for its continued support of the corps and called for strengthened collaboration to enhance security in the state.

    The Commandant General emphasised that the NSCDC remains committed to aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s national security agenda and will continue to safeguard lives, property, and the nation’s future.

    NSCDC Abuja Command graduates 200 fresh elite Corps as emergency response team

    The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory, Abuja Command on Wednesday, graduated 200 fresh elite Corps as Emergency Response Team to respond proactively to emerging security threats within the FCT and its environs.

    Speaking at the Headquarters of the FCT Command during the passing out parade of the elite team, the Commandant of Abuja  Corps, Dr Olusola Odumosu, said the strength of the specially trained team has increased to 472, going by the previous training of 135 and 137 in the first and second batches, respectively.

    Odumosu stressed the significance of training in weapon handling, intelligence gathering, discipline, basic training in sign language, tactical response, among others, to the operations of the Corps, saying that they have to adapt to emerging security situations in the FCT.

    “Today’s event is not just another ceremonial gathering. It is a strong statement of our unwavering commitment to capacity building, operational readiness, and the overall enhancement of our internal security architecture within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT),” Odumosu said.

    He said the Command has organised different strategic training programmes for its personnel to fine-tune their skills and update their knowledge to enable them to consolidate on keeping the FCT safe and secure from the activities of criminal elements.

    “The security landscape in the FCT is evolving, and so must we. The training of this batch is part of a carefully thought-out series of trainings designed to respond proactively to emerging security threats with precision, discipline, and professionalism”, he stated.

    Odumosu said, “These trainings cut across Area Commands and Divisions, and the initiative is part of a broader vision to mould a responsive, versatile, intelligent, and elite Corps that can engage with the public in every corner of our society.

    “Today, we are not just passing out personnel who have just concluded basic weapon handling training.

    “We are flagging off our ‘Emergency Response Team” Another crucial phase of our transformation journey.

    “This elite team will serve as a quick response unit, specially trained and tactically equipped to intervene swiftly in high-risk situations. We are deliberate in what we are doing, and our vision is clear: to build a Corps that is not only responsive but also anticipatory in approach”.

    He praised the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike and the Commandant General of the Corps, Prof. Ahmed Audi, for their steadfast support, encouragement, and guidance, which made the Command a success story.

    He, however, cautioned the personnel against misuse and mishandling of weapons, saying, “The rifle is not merely a weapon; it is a responsibility. It must not be misused. Let discipline, integrity, and professionalism be your watchwords at all times. The NSCDC uniform you wear is not for harassment or intimidation. It is for service.”

    NSCDC FCT Command arrests 16 suspects for vandalism

    The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command have arrested 16 suspects for vandalism and thefts of public infrastructures.

    The arrest was effected by operatives of the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) department, following surveillance and intelligence operations by the Corps.

    According to the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Monica Ojobi, the suspects were arrested at different locations in the city while attempting to vandalise armoured cables, galvanised pipes, telecommunication equipment and other equipment.

    Monica said in a statement that three of the suspects hail from Kano, while others are from Kaduna, Katsina, Borno and Plateau states.

    She said exhibits found on them include eight rolls of armoured cables, one LG outdoor AC, one sound speaker, two plastic chairs, two bags of electrical cables, one travelling bag containing clothes and one saw.

    Others items recovered from the suspects are black armoured cables, three shovels, seven diggers, knife, pincers, two pinches, two transformer fuse, ring boiler and electrical cables, Ojobi said.

    Commenting on the arrest, the FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, reaffirmed the Corps’ zero tolerance for vandalism in the Federal Capital Territory, stating that he is resolute to stamp out such criminality.

    Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), in the Ondo State Command have arrested four suspected vandals allegedly transporting telecommunication wires, cables and electric transformers from Kano to Lagos.

    Mogaji Ibrahim, 40, Umaru Adamu, 32, Abba Muhazu, 19, and Adamu Idris, 25, were apprehended at old Ore Toll Gate, on the Lagos expressway, in Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.

    The spokesperson for the NSCDC in the state, Daniel Aidamenbor, said the suspects were intercepted following a credible intelligence on their operations.

    “They were apprehended while transporting vandalised telecommunication wires, BEDC equipment such as transformer parts, high tension cables, copper and   armoured cables, and other cut-to-size metal objects from Kano to Lagos,” Aidamenbor said.

    According to him, the exhibits being transported by the suspects have been recovered and secured as evidence.

    He added that the suspects are also in  custody, and the command had begun  investigations to unravel their sponsors and other syndicates who might be behind their crime.

    The NSCDC spokesman reiterated the command’s effort at fighting ‘economic saboteurs’, who are in the crime business of targeting critical national assets and infrastructures of government across the country.

    NSCDC intercepts four Kano-Lagos bound suspects with stolen BEDC cables, transformers in Ondo 

    Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, have intercepted four suspected vandals allegedly transporting telecommunication wires, electric cables, and transformers from Kano to Lagos.

    The suspects—Mogaji Ibrahim (40), Umaru Adamu (32), Abba Muhazu (19), and Adamu Idris (25)—were apprehended at the old Ore Toll Gate along the Lagos expressway in Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.

    NSCDC spokesperson in Ondo, Mr. Daniel Aidamenbor, disclosed the arrest in a statement issued on Sunday. 

    He noted that the suspects, all of northern extraction, were tracked and intercepted based on credible intelligence regarding their activities. 

    “They were apprehended while transporting vandalised telecommunication wires, BEDC equipment such as transformer parts, high tension cables, copper and armoured cables, and other cut-to-size metal objects from Kano to Lagos,” Mr Aidamenbor said in the copy of the statement obtained by the Nation. 

    According to him, the exhibits being transported by the suspects have been recovered and secured as evidence.

    While stressing that the command has intensified its intelligence-led surveillance across the 18 local government areas of the state, Mr Aidamenbor warned criminal elements to stay off the entire areas of the state. 

    “The state commandant has warned all criminal elements in the state and those using the state as a thoroughfare to other states to stay clear of ondo state as operatives of the command are on high alert to flush out criminal elements from the state,” he said.

    Benue killings: NSCDC boss calls for upscaling of intelligence gathering

    The Commandant General (CG) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr Ahmed Audi, has called for the upscaling of intelligence gathering and sharing among security agencies and operatives.

    The NSCDC boss condemned the gruesome murder of unarmed civilians during the attack in Yelwata village in Guma local government area of Benue state and urged security operatives to ensure the arrest of the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

    Dr Audi made remarks during a scheduled visit to the state for an on-the-spot assessment of the situation alongside other security chiefs.

    He commiserated with the Governor and people of Yelwata in Guma Local Government Area who lost their loved ones in the attack and assured that the Corps is working closely with other security agencies to put a stop to the killings.

    According to a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Corps, Babawale Afolabi, the CG decried the mindless killing of unarmed women and children in the unfortunate incident.

    Dr Audi said there was no justification whatsoever for the gruesome murder of innocent citizens.

    The NSCDC boss, therefore, ordered the Zonal Commander and the State Commandant to effectively deploy covert operatives, Special Forces and all tactical units to every nook and cranny of the state while at the same time collaborating with other stakeholders to enhance well-coordinated operations for a renewed onslaught against the perpetrators.

    “These killings must stop, and we must be very strategic, decisive, and resilient in our approach to the restoration of peace and order in the State.

    “All hands must be on deck. There must be maximum deployment of all Special Forces, counter terrorism units, and intelligence operatives for both covert and overt operations.

    “Just as Mr. President has directed, the perpetrators of this heinous crime must be brought to book, and we need to be on top of our game to make this happen,” the CG asserted.

    Dr Audi further assured that the High Command of the NSCDC would deploy more tactical operatives and logistics to support the Benue Command in boosting their operation for a more effective security coverage.

    He promised to work closely with the Military, DSS, the Nigerian Police, the Indigenous Security apparatus and other critical stakeholders within the Communities to gather credible information that would lead to the arrests of those who carried out the acts of criminality.

    The NSCDC boss thanked the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr Hyacinth Lornem Alia for the support to the State Command and reaffirmed his commitment to the restoration of peace, order and the safeguarding of all Critical National Assets and Infrastructures in the state.

    Scam Alert: NSCDC raises alarm against fake recruitment

    The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun command, has warned the general public against fake recruitment scam circulating on social media, stating that no recruitment exercise was currently ongoing.

    This is contained in a statement issued  in Abeokuta on Tuesday by the command’s Spokesperson, Mr Dyke Ogbonnaya.

    According to Ogbonnaya, some  scammers are using a senior officer’s photographs and goodwill to deceive and swindle unsuspecting individuals.

    He clarified that any genuine recruitment exercises would be announced through official channels and media outlets.

    Ogbonnaya, however, advised the public to be cautious and vigilant to avoid falling victim to these scammers.

    “We have been intimated of the social media scam by a syndicate group on unsuspecting persons using the photographs and goodwill of a senior officer in the Corps to smartly swindle individuals, groups and others of their monies through this negative scheme.

    “The Corps is using this medium to warn the general public to completely dismiss and avoid any of such wrong impressions because, it is a scam.

    “The Corps through its team of intelligence and surveillance is doing everything in its powers to uncover this syndicate and bring them to justice.

    “Before this is unravelled, we hereby dissociate the Corps and the senior officer in that fake/scam alert from such anomalies and also warn those behind it to desist from such criminal act.

    “On a last note, if the Corps is going to recruit, there is a channel and always a general notification on such in the various media. Until then, let us stay safe from these bunch of scammers,”he said.

    He, however, assured the public that efforts are underway by the command  to uncover and bring the perpetrators to justice.

    He also urged residents to be aware and report any suspicious activities.

    NSCDC boss asks Mining Marshals Commander to withdraw petition

    Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Audi, has ordered the Commander of the Mining Marshal  Attah   Onoja to withdraw his petition from the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, over an alleged attack and shooting of mining marshals by policemen.

    Audi expressed displeasure over the petition, which includes alleged obstruction of efforts to prosecute illegal miners arrested in Nasarawa State.

    The commandant said   Onoja did not allow the internal resolution mechanism of settlement of disputes among security institutions to be explored before filing the petition.

      Audi argued that the commander acted outside his purview by filing the petition without the authorisation of   NSCDC management.

    In a statement issued by the Corps Public Relations Officer, Babawale Afolabi, the NSCDC

     Management dissociated itself from the petition and ordered the officer to immediately withdraw the said petition.

    The NSCDC management maintained that the withdrawal would “allow for a smooth and amicable resolution of issues raised in the spirit of the robust interagency relationship between the Nigeria Police and the Corps as well as the harmonious working relationship between the IGP and the CG.”

    “ It was also discovered that the IGP was not aware of the complaints before the petition was written by the officer, “ Babawale said.

    He said:”The CG noted that the office of the IGP has been very supportive of the Corps’ operations by enjoining the Police to work closely with the Corps and other Services to enhance national security and the realisation of Mr President’s  Renewed Hope Agenda

    “Meanwhile, the Management is already working out appropriate measures to take on the officer.

    “The Commandant General reiterates his determination to continue to effectively collaborate and synergise with the Nigeria Police in an avowed commitment to stamping out crime and criminality to make Nigeria safer and more secure.”

    Babawale said a joint investigation with the police, to unravel what transpired, would be conducted on the matter as the two institutions find solutions to the problem.

    He said the NSCDC CG has appealed to the IGP for the embarrassment that the said petition may have caused.

    “I have spoken to the IGP on the matter and sincerely apologise for the embarrassment that the petition might have caused.

    “I have also directed that the petition be withdrawn immediately with a view to resolving it administratively without any rancour”, the CG said.
