Ogun to host $50m beverages company

Mamuda Group Nigeria Limited is set to invest $50 million in Ogun State through one of its subsidiaries, Mamuda Beverages.

Mamuda is involved in food, beverages, care, and agro-processing.

The Chairman of the Group, Mr. Hassan Hammoud, made this known when he led high ranking officials of the company to meet the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta yesterday.

He disclosed that the governor would lay the first foundation stone for Mamuda Beverages next month.

The Chairman also said Mamuda Group would be setting up its investment in stages, adding that other areas of interest for the company, like foods, care, and agro-agro-processing would also be established in the state.

“Mamuda Group is based in Kano. We have different types of factories. We have Mamuda Industries, which is the leather factory for export to Europe and everywhere in the world. We have Mamuda Agro, which produces agricultural sacks.

We also have Mamuda Foods, which is the confectionery business, and we have Mamuda Beverages, which is the CSD business.

“We also have Mamuda Care, which focuses on detergents and beauty care. Mamuda Group has 13,000 workers. So, if we have 13,000 workers in Kano, we should have the same number of staff here too in the next five to six years,” he said.

He also disclosed that Mamuda Group would employ about 1,500 workers initially, stating that the number of its workforce would expand to 3,000 on completion of the expansion of the beverage company.

While commending Prince Abiodun for making the business environment in the state attractive to investors, Mr. Hammoud said the state is the best destination for businesses to thrive in the country.

“His Excellency has made the environment very attractive that you wouldn’t want to miss out.

“We believe that if you don’t come here, you will be missing out. The market is huge; you have Lagos on one side, and you have Ibadan-Benin, so if we need to cover the South West region, we have to invest here, and it would be very good for us and very competitive for us to produce here,” he said.

In his remarks, the governor noted that his administration is working hard at all times to ensure the state increases its ranking on the global ease of doing business index.

The governor added that his administration has just built the best-equipped airport in the country, which sits in an industrial zone. He noted that out of the six industrial zones licensed, that of Ogun State is the only one that has hit the ground running.

Prince Abiodun said the Business Environment Council, created by his administration has helped build the confidence of both existing and new investors.

“Today, we have an airport, and we are licensed for a dry port, which we will start constructing very soon, right on the rail line, so that when you start importing raw materials, you don’t have to go to Lagos to clear them anymore.

“They will be put on the train because the train goes all the way to the port, and you can clear them at the dry port, so you don’t have to pay unnecessary fees on demurrage or waste time and energy going to Lagos,” he said.

  • Remo indigenes insist on state creation

Remo indigenes insist on state creation

The Remo people have reiterated their unwavering demand for the creation of Remo State from the existing Ogun State, with Sagamu as its proposed capital.

They cited distinct ethnic identity, economic viability, and infrastructural development as compelling justifications for their demand.

In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the Remo Committee on State Creation and Aare Gbo-Gbo-Gbo of Remo-Land, Aare Kola Oyefeso, and the Committee’s Secretary, Wole Awe, the people of Remo expressed unity and determination in their quest for statehood.

The statement was issued at the instance of the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remo-Land, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, alongside traditional rulers, elected representatives, high chiefs, professionals, and other Remo stakeholders.

According to the statement, “Remo has ticked all the boxes required for the creation of a new state: economic sustainability, infrastructural readiness, growth potential, land mass, and, above all, the consensus of its people.”

The Committee emphasised that the push for statehood is not rooted in “primordial sentiment” but in historical facts and administrative logic.

It disclosed that internal disagreements over the proposed name and capital city had previously hindered progress during past attempts to secure state creation.

The Committee also recalled how, in 2009, the Remo and Ijebu divisions failed to reach a consensus on a joint memorandum.

“While the Ijebus submitted their own bid for Ijebu State with Ijebu-Ode as capital, the Remos presented a separate memorandum proposing Remo-Ijebu State with Ikenne as its capital. That division ultimately cost both sides the opportunity,” the statement read.

Addressing the endorsement of unity documents in 2020 and 2024 by the Awujale of Ijebu-Land and the Akarigbo of Remo-Land, the Committee described the move as “symbolic and innocuous,” asserting that genuine state creation efforts go far beyond royal endorsements.

“Remo remains republican and has never been subjected to autocratic rule,” the statement added.

Highlighting the rapid growth of Sagamu and surrounding areas, the Committee stressed the region’s strategic proximity to Lagos, its industrial strength, and robust transportation links.

“Remo stands tall, head and shoulders above other towns in Ogun East. Our readiness is unmatched,” it declared.

The statement further noted the presence of an operational airport in Remo Central, which caters to both cargo and passenger flights—an asset that would ease pressure on Lagos’ aviation infrastructure and boost regional connectivity.

On revenue potential, the Committee affirmed that Remo contributes significantly to Ogun State’s internally generated revenue and has the financial capacity to function independently.

“We are not seeking to depend on federal allocations; Remo can stand on its own,” it said

•Abiodun okays N6.7b to offset backlog of gratuities

WITH the release of N6.7 billion to offset backlogs of gratuities for retired public servants, the Ogun State government yesterday reiterated its commitment to the prioritisation of retirees’ welfare.

Governor Dapo Abiodun dropped the hint at the opening of the 9th Quarterly General Meeting of the Association of Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries – South West, Nigeria (ARHOSPS-SWN), hosted by the Ogun State chapter of the Association at the ARHOSPS Secretariat, opposite OOPL gate, Abiola Way, Abeokuta.

Represented by the Head of Service of the State, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, the governor said the gesture is a show of appreciation and the responsibility of a responsive government that is totally committed to the welfare and well-being of its senior citizens, as the roles they play in the ongoing actualization of the administration’s “Building Our Future Together” agenda have not gone unnoticed.

He restated his administration’s commitment to maintaining strong ties with the forebears of the Public Service and has continually demonstrated a deep respect for the founding fathers of the Civil Service, upon which he is privileged to build.

The governor said: “There is a clear recognition that progress is not complete without the voice and wisdom of those who have walked the path and contributed immensely to shaping the standards we uphold. In this regard, we shall continue to support the Association and maintain open lines of engagement to harness the wealth of experience within the distinguished body.”

According to him, an initiative has been put in place to train prospective retirees, especially members of the top echelon, in preparation for life after service.

The governor said: “This is also part of the government’s support for workers as they transition into retirement, in order to make them remain valuable to themselves, society, and the continued progress and development of Gateway State.

“Esteemed senior citizens, I urge you to reflect on the challenges and opportunities facing the Public Service in your respective states and the South West at large.

“Use the platform to craft ideas, develop strategies, and consider collaborative solutions that align with the aspirations of our people.

“This is because when leaders with your experience and vision engage in thoughtful conversation, progress is not far behind.”

The association’s President in the Southwest, Dr. Ebenezer Okebukola, recapped the events that had taken place in the region, including partnering with Brazil Amber Energia to establish power plants to further enhance industrial growth and food security in Ogun State, among others.

Some of the delegates, including Otunba Nurudeen Ojora from Lagos and Mrs. Mojisola Ajayi from Ondo State, appreciated the host government for the prompt payment of pensions and gratuities to retirees in the state.

  • Ogun collaborating with Amber Enegia Brazil For sustainable power generation

Ogun collaborating with Amber Enegia Brazil For sustainable power generation

    • By Femi Ogbonnikan

Ogun State government has gone further in its investment promotion and industrial growth drive. The latest move towards the creation of business-friendly environment is the recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Confederation of General Employers of Morocco (CGEM), as well as a partnership arrangement reached with Ambar Energia, a leading Brazilian energy company, to collaborate on power generation and distribution. These two proposals are significant steps aimed at enhancing sustainable investment and industrial growth. Among other benefits, the collaborative effort will improve the state’s power infrastructure, ensuring a stable and reliable energy supply for industries and households. With proper implementation of the agreement, the initiative is expected to boost economic growth, create jobs, and increase investment opportunities in the State.

As important as power is to industries and domestic consumers Nigeria has not been able to overcome the daunting challenges of generation, transmission and distribution. The country’s power generation, while currently showing some progress, still faces challenges with a significant gap between demand and supply, resulting in high cost of production. The good news is that the states can now generate, transmit and distribute power independently to  consumers. Some proactive governors, including Governor Abiodun, have made significant progress in their Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangements to boost power supply in their respective states. Ogun State is one of them. Not only will such initiative support the growth of industries, it will also stimulate economic development.

By the terms of reference, the signing of Memorandum of Understanding with CGEM is meant to address the deficiency in power supply to the state’s 6,000 industries and other businesses. By so doing, the state government aims to fostering an economy that promotes growth, equity, and resilience through sustainable development plans. The collaboration with Ambar Energia is equally meant to sustain the effort to drive economic growth and development in Ogun State. This has been part of the focus of the Abiodun’s administration on creating a favorable business environment, attracting investments, and promoting industrial growth.

With the signing of MOU with CGEM, Ogun State government is expected to benefit from the experience of reforms which have helped Morocco to achieve significant success in the areas of solar power, education, technology, manufacturing, agriculture, and a host of others.

Governor Abiodun, while signing the agreement on behalf of the state, noted that Morocco had become an emerging leader in solar energy, attributing the success to such initiatives as a 30 percent subsidy incentive for investors and 60 trade agreements with different countries across the world.

Abiodun further stated that the country had transitioned from importing to exporting electric vehicles to Europe and manufacturing parts for aircraft manufacturers, expressing assurance that the success story would be replicated in Nigeria with the arrival of the Confederation of General Employers of Morocco to establish operations in Ogun State.

He said: “We hope that in our partnership we can unlock all the potentials and maximize it. We want to learn from you how you perfected hydro, solar, and gas energy, presenting the right mix that, of course, brings down the cost of energy.

“We identified agriculture, agribusiness, and agricultural technology, in which you are very advanced. Morocco today is the largest producer of fertilizer on the continent and one of the biggest exporters of fertilizer. I recall that you were informed of the plan to establish a massive fertilizer plant in Nigeria. We hope that we can bring that plant to Ogun State.

“Being an industrial state, we discussed manufacturing and industrial development, in which you’ve excelled. How do we partner? How do we learn from you so we are not starting from scratch? How do we develop technology together? How do we collaborate with companies in Morocco to bring the automobile industry to Ogun State, where we know that from here, you can easily ship vehicles to all other countries in Sub-Saharan Africa?”

The Governor disclosed that the state already had a Special Economic Zone at the Gateway Agro-cargo International Airport, which would serve as a Free Trade Zone. According to him, by bringing manufacturing and agricultural companies to the state, the partnership will focus on technology transfer.

“We have issues with generation capacity, we have issues with efficient and effective distribution, we have issues with transmission, and we know that you have succeeded in that area in Morocco. We discussed how we can collaborate to ensure we generate enough electricity for the state under our Light-Up Ogun Project,” he added.

Speaking further on infrastructure, the Governor stressed the need to share experience on port development. “Ogun State has a designated port area called Olokola, which is meant to be the deepest seaport in Nigeria. The desire to construct the port has been present for quite some time, and we would like to see this happening under our watch, even if it is a temporary berth port in the meantime,” he stated.

Mr. Ali Zerouali who signed for the Moroccan side, expressed the readiness of his organisation to partner with the state in the automobile, agro-food industries, and the education sector. He said the partnership would strengthen the cordial relationship and enhance economic ties between the two countries.

The same optimism also greeted the strategic partnership alliance between the Ogun State government and Ambar Energia to establish power plants across the state. Speaking while receiving a delegation led by its President Marcelo Zanatta, at the Governor’s Office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Abiodun harped on the importance of Ogun State as Nigeria’s industrial capital, promising to take full advantage of the constitutional amendment that decentralizes power generation, allowing states to produce and distribute electricity independently.

“The energy needs of our state are enormous. The current allocation is grossly inadequate. With this partnership, we aim to bridge that gap and unlock the full industrial potential of Ogun State,” the governor said.

Addressing the specifics, the Governor reveals that Ogun and Lagos states currently consume about 40 percent of Nigeria’s 6,000 megawatts, adding that demand is projected to rise to 45 percent of the megawatts by 2030. To sustain its competitive edge, he submitted that Ogun is rapidly growing industrial cluster-such as Ijebu-Ode, Abeokuta, Atan-Agbara, Remo, Imeko-Afon, and Aworo—needed robust and localized energy solutions.

“We’re expanding our current power infrastructure. A plant that once generated just four megawatts is being upgraded to produce 30 megawatts in its first phase-primarily to serve government offices and residential areas. But this is merely a drop in the ocean. Our goal is to replicate such captive power plants across the three senatorial districts of the state,” he added.

It is worth noting that the state has abundant natural resources like gold, lithium, bitumen, silica, limestone, and cement which, according to Abiodun, require stable power supply for maximum economic benefits.

He also disclosed that construction would soon begin on Africa’s largest garment production facility, to be located at the Special Agro-Processing Zone near the Gateway International Airport, which alone will require 300 megawatts of electricity to operate.

Commending Ambar Energia-ranked among Brazil’s top five energy firms with 27 plants and a combined capacity of 4.3 gigawatts.

Governor Abiodun, therefore, expressed confidence in the firm’s technical capacity and commitment to collaboration.

“Our government believes in enabling private sector growth. We’re here to create the right environment for businesses to thrive because the government doesn’t do business—it facilitates it. As businesses grow, they employ people, and that brings shared prosperity,” he stated.

Marcelo Zanatta, President of Ambar Energia, expressed readiness to work with the state in developing sustainable energy solutions, stating that his team had already visited critical infrastructure sites, including the Gateway Agro-cargo International Airport, Olorunsogo Power Plant, and the Onijanganjangan Power Plant.

In a related development, Governor Abiodun also received a delegation from the JBJ, JBS, and SEARRA Group of Brazil, led by renowned agribusiness leader Jose Batista, to discuss potential investments in large-scale farming and food production.

Boosting of over 16,000 square kilometres of land, of which more than 12,000 square kilometres are arable, Abiodun said Ogun State offers vast opportunities for agricultural expansion. The governor put the number of registered farmers at over 200,000 actively engaged in diverse food crop production.

“We are establishing what will become the largest farmers’ market in Abeokuta. It will allow farmers to process and sell their products at affordable prices, right from the source. We also support them with inputs like tractors, land clearing, and linkages to reliable off-takers,” he said.

He also listed such as attractions as extensive road network, an integrated multi-modal transport system-including access by land, sea, and air-plus two major gas pipelines running through the state, which have made the state investment destination of choice.

As an incentive for enhanced agricultural production, he said N5.4 billion has so far been invested in farmer support and training.

He, therefore, urged the Brazilian conglomerates to take advantage of Ogun’s strategic location, rich resources, and investor-friendly environment.

In his response, Mr. Jose Batista expressed satisfaction with the state’s readiness and enthusiasm and extended an invitation to Governor Abiodun to visit Brazil to deepen investment ties.

Meanwhile, another recycling plant for the production of aluminium and copper ingots has been established in the state.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Neveah Ltd, Mr. Ibidapo Lawal, disclosed this after a meeting with Governor Dapo Abiodun in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Lawal noted that the multimillion-dollar recycling plant, when fully operational and at full capacity, would generate over $150 million annually and employ more than 500 people.

He said the plant would recycle aluminium scraps from car engines, cans, and other metals into ADC 12 and export them to car manufacturing companies in Asia, Japan, Indonesia, and a host of others.

He said: “The plant is situated in Mowe, and it will employ more than 500 people, thereby creating jobs locally and also contributing to the development of Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole. It will account for about 2.53 per cent of the entire non-oil export for Nigeria.

The governor attributed all these developments to the positive business climate fostered by his administration, assuring of his commitment to creating an enabling environment for innovative investors.

Ogun youths urged to build better world through cooperatives

Youths in Ogun State have been called upon to embrace the cooperative model as a sustainable solution to unemployment, poverty, and economic inequality.

The charge was made at the 2025 Ogun State Youth Cooperative Seminar held on Wednesday, April 9, at the Oba K. O. Olubiyi Conference Hall, Tayo Sobanjo Building, Asero, Abeokuta.

The event, organized by the OGSCOFED Youth Cooperative Multipurpose Society Ltd., drew participants from across the state and focused on the theme: “A Better World Through Cooperatives: Eternal Relevance and Youth Empowerment.”

Delivering the keynote presentation, Mr. Ola Otinwa, MSc, FICP, President of Ike-Oluwa Sagamu Remo CMU Ltd., emphasized that “cooperatives are not relics of the past, but revolutionary tools for building sustainable futures.”

According to him, youth cooperatives are springing up across Africa, solving local problems and providing new pathways for wealth creation and leadership.

“From Kenya to Rwanda and from Kaduna to Akure, young people are using cooperatives to create jobs, improve food systems, and bridge the digital divide,” Otinwa noted.

Emphasizing the relevance of youth cooperatives globally, Otinwa cited success stories, including Kenya’s Youth Bunge, South Africa’s Siyavuna Cooperative, and Nigeria’s own Youth in Agribusiness Cooperative in Kaduna and Young Farmers’ Cooperative Society in Ibadan.

“These cooperatives have not only empowered thousands of youths but also created lasting impacts in local economies,” he said.

The President of OGSCOFED Ltd., Alhaji Abdulwasiu Olaleye, who served as the Chief Host, charged Nigerian youths to embrace cooperative societies as viable tools for social and economic transformation, especially tackling unemployment and poverty.

Olaleye reiterated the organization’s commitment to deepening youth involvement in the cooperative movement.

“Cooperatives remain one of the most inclusive and democratic models of enterprise. The youth must take ownership and shape it for their future,” he asserted.

In his welcome address at the 2025 Ogun State Youth Cooperative Seminar, the President of OGSCOFED Youth Cooperative Multipurpose Society, Badejo Adeyemi, charged youths across the state to embrace the cooperative movement as a driving force for leadership, innovation, and sustainable development.

“Today is more than a gathering; it is a movement of ideas, innovation, leadership, and transformation anchored in the spirit of cooperatives”.

“We are here because we believe that youths are not just the leaders of tomorrow, but the change-makers of today”, Badejo said.

Reflecting on a key global development, he noted the United Nations General Assembly’s declaration of 2025 as the International Year of Cooperatives, calling it a timely reminder of the relevance of youth in global cooperative discourse.

“This year’s global theme, ‘Cooperatives Build a Better World,’ resonates with our local theme: ‘A Better World through Cooperatives: Eternal Relevance & Youth Empowerment.’ It emphasizes the power of cooperatives in fostering inclusive and prosperous societies—especially through youth engagement,” he added.

He emphasised the goals of the seminar, which include inspiring purposeful youth leadership, increasing youth participation in cooperative governance, promoting peacebuilding, and exploring technology-driven cooperative solutions.

Ogun lifts trauma care with state-of-the-art facility

In a significant step towards improving healthcare delivery in Ogun State, a newly completed Alhaji Sulaiman Adebola Adegunwa Trauma Centre at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu, was inaugurated by the state government at the weekend. The state-of-the-art trauma centre, which opened its doors immediately, was established through the generous donation of renowned industrialist and elder statesman, Dr. Sulaiman Adebola Adegunwa (OFR) in celebration of his 80th birthday.

The four-storey, 50-bed facility is designed to provide specialised care for trauma patients, particularly those involved in accidents along the Lagos-Ibadan and Sagamu-Benin expressways, which have seen an alarming rise in the number of casualties. The trauma centre, valued at 1.5 billion naira, is a much-needed addition to the region’s medical infrastructure.

During the commissioning ceremony, Dr. Oluwabunmi Fatungase, Chief Medical Director of OOUTH, emphasised the long-standing need for such a centre in the area. “For over 20 years, successive administrations have envisioned a trauma centre like this, but today, that dream has finally become a reality,” Dr. Fatungase said. “We handle approximately 2,000 trauma cases monthly, and with this new facility, we now have the resources to provide specialised care to those in need.”

The trauma centre boasts several advanced medical features, including an MRI suite, CT scanner, resuscitation units, a seminar hall, and three state-of-the-art surgical theatres, specifically designed for neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery, orthopaedic, and general trauma interventions. Dr. Fatungase also highlighted that the centre will operate with private sector collaboration and government support, ensuring free emergency care for the first 24 to 48 hours for accident victims. She further praised Dr. Adegunwa’s generosity, calling the facility a “gift that will keep giving.” “He may not fully realise how many lives will be saved here. This is more than just a building—it’s a future-saving initiative,” she added.

Also speaking at the event, Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, highlighted the facility’s functional design and its significant impact on Ogun’s emergency care system. “Papa Adegunwa personally supervised even the painting of this building. This isn’t just a medical facility; it’s a symbol of compassion and visionary leadership,” she stated. Dr. Coker expressed confidence that the centre would reduce fatalities from moderate injuries and elevate the state’s response to emergencies.

Governor Dapo Abiodun also reflected on the progress made at OOUTH since his administration took office in 2019. “When we took over, this hospital was essentially a ghost town. We declared a state of emergency here. Today, it stands tall, and this trauma centre is a part of the ongoing effort to reposition the health sector to offer accessible, quality care,” Governor Abiodun said. He credited the hospital’s transformation to strategic reforms and a strong partnership with the private sector. He praised the role of Dr. Adegunwa in making the trauma centre a reality, describing it as a “perfect example of what vision and collaboration can accomplish.” The event was graced by Vice President Kashim Shettima, who applauded both the Ogun State Government and the donor for their efforts to address Nigeria’s pressing healthcare challenges. “This initiative is exactly what the country needs to meet the healthcare demands of our people,” the Vice President remarked.

Finally, Dr Adegunwa, the benefactor, expressed his deep gratitude to Allah and to all who contributed to the completion of the project. “True prosperity lies in how we uplift others,” he said. “This centre is not about me; it’s about the lives that will be saved, the pain that will be eased, and the futures that will be secured.” Reflecting on his long connection with OOUTH, Dr. Adegunwa stated, “This facility is my gift to the people, my way of expressing gratitude for the blessings I’ve received.”

The Administrator of a private school (name withheld) in Arepo, Ogun State, Mrs Abimbola Olawunmi has denied claims that the alleged incisions found on the bodies of two pupils were inflicted by the staff members of the school.

Addressing a press conference yesterday, Mrs Olawunmi, who was in the company of some staff members and parents, said she was compelled to speak out to the public because of the campaign of calumny against the school by the parents of the alleged victims.

According to her, the matter, which is a subject of litigation in the court, was blown out of proportion by some unsubstantiated reports in a section of the media and the extrajudicial measures by the parents.

Going down memory lane, Mrs. Olawunmi, who recalled that the parents of the affected pupils lodged complaints with the school several weeks after the discovery of the alleged incisions on their children’s bodies, said she had since provided ample evidence exonerating the school of any guilt.

She said: “The parents of the two pupils ages (girl two plus and boy six years) came on March 11 to lodge the complaints that they saw strange marks on their children. They showed me, and the girl said “aunty” rubbed pepper on her back. Let me emphasise here. We don’t address anyone as ‘aunty’ in the school everyone is known by their names. Mother, daughter, jailed six months each for stealing ponmo, stock fish, dried meat

A Magistrates’ Court in Abeokuta, Ogun State yesterday sentenced a mother, Falilatu Amidu, and her daughter, Ayisatu, to six months imprisonment each for stealing dry ponmo, stock fish and dried meat valued N1 million

The defendants, who reside at No 21 Ago-Oko area of Abeokuta, were convicted on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Odumosu, held that the evidence presented by the prosecution had proven beyond reasonable doubt that the convicts were guilty of the offence as charged.

Odumosu sentenced both mother and daughter to six months in prison each with an option of N5,000 fine.

She ordered that the convicts should refund N100,000 each to the complainant as restitution before accessing the N5,000 fine option.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Kehinde Fawunmi, had told the court that the defendants committed the offence at Lafenwa market sometime in August 2024.

Fawunmi explained that Falilatu conspired with her daughter, Ayisatu, to steal a big sack  containing stock fish, dried ponmo and dried cow meat valued N1million, belonging to one Mrs kafayat Alao.

According to him, one of the defendants, Falilatu, used to help the complainant to carry load from her store in Lafenwa to where the complainant sells her items.

“The complainant asked her to help her pick some goods from the store. She waited for over an hour and did not see the defendant, which made her to go to the store to check on her.

“On getting to the store, she did not find Falilatu, and she noticed a big bag containing dried meat, ponmo and stock fish was missing while the defendant was nowhere to be found,” he said.

Fawunmi further explained that Falilatu stole the goods and gave it to her daughter (Ayisatu) to sell. He said Ayisatu received the goods from her mother, knowing that they were stolen.

The prosecutor noted that the offence committed contravened sections 516, 390(9) and 127 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun 2006.
