    Oke unfolds industrialisation agenda

The candidate of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in Ondo State, Chief Olusola Oke, has expressed dismay at the state of the abandoned multi-billion naira Okeluse cement factory and the Ifon ceramics industry located in Ose Local Government Area.

He promised to revamp the companies and make them viable for the development of the state.

Oke, whose mother hails from Imoru, Ose local government, was in the area in continuation of his campaign tour, preparatory to the November 26 election. He bemoaned the derelict state of the factories, which he lamented, were dead, despite billions of naira  spent on them by the Olusegun Mimiko administration.

While addressing a mammoth crowd of supporters at Ifon, Oke, who was hailed as their worthy son by the people,  said: “ Isn’t it sad that this very important ceramics factory is lying in ruins? We have inundated with tall tales of billions of naira spent on the Ifon Ceramics factory by this government and up till today, what do we have? A dead factory, which ought to have employed thousands of our youth who have now turned to riding commercial motorcycles and doing all sorts of odd jobs to survive.”

Oke asked whether a bag of cement had been bagged from the vast deposits of limestone and the glib assurances that cement would be produced in Okeluse. The people replied in the negative.

The flag bearer promised to harness the huge limeston and ensure that the factory begins to roll out real cement.

His words: “We are going to turn around the fortunes of all our industries and make them functional. We shall ensure that we bring back the Ondo State of old where industries abound, where our youths were gainfully employed. We will bring in investors with finances to partner with us in this onerous task of industrialising the State.

“We are going to plug wastages, renegotiate the huge debt which the outgoing government has incurred, build all our industries and partner with investors to make Ondo State.

“From the riverine areas of Ondo, to the hinterland of Akoko and  indeed all over the State, industries hitherto built by the founding fathers of the State are in comatose and we shall resuscitate them all to make our state great again, this is our pact with the people,” he assured the cheering people.

Oke, who also visited Ifon, Imoru, Ute, Arimogija and, ijagba Okeluse, was received by supporters who promised to vote for him at the poll.

The Alliance for Democracy (AD) governorship candidate, Olusola Oke, has promised that his administration would ensure the rapid development of riverine communities.

He also promised to make the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) more alive to its responsibility.

Oke spoke in Agbadagba Obon and Arogobo communities in Ese Odo Local Government Area during his campaign tour yesterday.

He said the neglect of the area and its attendant hardship had left the people wallowing in poverty.

The AD governorship hopeful said he will reposition the State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC).

The people asked for a link bridge between Agadagba and Arogbo; connection of the riverine communities to the National Grid and dredging of waterways for easy transportation

Oke said he was familiar with the area coupled with his passion for its development and experience.

He added: “We should not allow retardation. We should not allow the wheels of progress roll backwards, hence the need to vote for the AD to redress all the wrong, neglect and injustice.

“Since former Governor Olusegun Agagu left office in 2009, what this area has seen is total neglect. Nothing has been added to the roads, water jetty, and health facilities. Everything stopped where Agagu left it.

“Today, the roads are even wearing out and need attention. AD will give you the much-desired attention.”

The Alliance for Democracy (AD) governorship candidate, Olusola Oke, has assured the people of Ondo South that his administration will redress the neglect the area has suffered in the last seven and half years.

Oke, who bemoaned what he termed as “deliberate abandonment of life-transforming projects and amenities” in the oil rich district, assured the people that the AD government would complete the projects for the benefit of the people

The governorship candidate, who spoke at campaign rallies in wards and communities in Okitipupa, said the neglect of the projects and amenities by the present administration had, no doubt, left the people impoverished and also impacted negatively on the state’s economy.

He listed the neglected projects and amenities which his administration would give the Midas touch to include the Olokola project; State University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa; Omotoso Power Plant, Omotoso; Cassava Processing Company, Ikoya; Irele-Ayeka/Okitipupa Road; and igbokoda – Ugbonla Road.

Oke also promised to restore electricity to the six local governments in the district- Odigbo, Ile Oluji/Okeigbo, Okitipupa, Irele, Ilaje and Ese Odo council areas which had been in blackout in the last three years.

He, however, promised to reverse the economic situation by creating the enabling environment to attract investors and encourage farmers with necessary implements and aids.

The AD candidate told the people that his administration would complete reticulation work on the Owena Multi-Purpose Dam and the Golf Course began by the Olusegun Agagu administration and other necessary amenities.

Oke visited the Owa of Idanre, Oba Fredrick Aroloye; the Aladeokun of Alade Kingdom, Oba Olusegun Akinbola; the Awosunye of Atosin-Idanre, Oba Gilbert Ogunlowo; and the Alajowa of Ajowaland, Idanre, Oba Sunday Akinbo, and their chiefs.

He assured the people that he had put in place a programme to revamp the economy and make the people the cornerstone of his administration.

A statement by the Chairman, Media and Publicity of the Olusola Oke /Ganny Dauda Campaign Organisation, Bisi Kolawole, described the AD as a movement resolute to form the next government after its victory on November 26.

His words: “This poverty in the midst of plenty and the glaring ineptitude of those in power is unacceptable.

“We want to change this, we want to bring in a new order, we want to bring in a new vision, we want to make our people happy and bring joy into the lives of all and sundry in Ondo State.

“We will revamp our economy, we will make our traditional rulers happy, make our people the cornerstone of our programme and empower our youths to benefit from the abundant recourses that abound in Ondo State.’’

The AD candidate said his campaign would begin at Ondo East Local Government today to meet with the people and intimate them on his programmes to take the state back on track.

Oke is our candidate, says AD

The Ondo State Executive Committee of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) has defended the party’s choice of Chief Olusola Oke as its flag bearer in the November 26 governorship election, saying the former All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain has met the requirements stipulated by the party’s constitution.

Speaking at a press conference in Akure, the Ondo State capital, its Chairman, Seriki Adebobola, debunked the report by some youths under the aegis of Akin Olowookere Youth Vanguard (AOYV), claiming that they still recognised Akin Olowoolere as the flag bearer.

Adebobola said Oke has met the conditions stipulated by the party, adding that it has structure which its governorship candidate passed through before he was adopted to replace Olowookere.

“We are using this forum to disown the youth in their unruly action to embarrass our candidate; we want Chief Oke to note that such statement did not emanating from the AD.”

He recalled that Oke was earlier planning to defect into Action Alliance (AA), but quickly retraced his step, “because the AD is a party for the Southwest”.

The chairman said Oke was embraced and welcomed into the party as a man with sound academic and administrative pedigree that makes the AD the party to beat in the November 26 poll.

Oke presents running mate, campaign director

ONDO State Alliance for Democracy (AD) governorship candidate Chief Olusola Oke at the weekend presented his running mate, Ganny Dauda and his campaign organisation’s Director General, Bola Ilori, to party’s supporters in Akure.

Dauda is a former member of the House of Representatives for Akoko Northeast/Northwest.

Ilori was Special Adviser on Environment and Sanitation to Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola. He is from Ondo Central District.

At the event organised to sensitise AD supporters from the 18 local government areas, Oke announced committees that would assist his campaign organisation.

He said the sudden return of the AD to the political firmament of Ondo State was a surprise to many.

The former APC governorship aspirant described Dauda and Ilori as experienced politicians imbued with administrative qualities that would join him to rebuild the Sunshine State.

Oke lamented that in the last seven years, people had been traumatised because of visible maladministration.

He said: “Those who believed in power dominion thought APC had collapsed and as such, would have a smooth ride to Alagbaka. They have failed, as God has brought AD back to life.”

AD defends its flag bearer Oke

The Ondo State chapter of the Alliance for Democracy( AD) has defended its choice of Chief Olusola Oke as its governorship candidate in the November 26 election, saying that the former All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain is qualified, because he has met the requirements.

It debunked the report by some youth under the aegis of the Akin Olowookere Youth Vanguard (AOYV), claiming that they still recognised Olowoolere as the party’s flag bearer.

Speaking at press conference in Akure, the state capital, yesterday, the AD chairman, Seriki Adebobola, said the party has a procedure which a governorship candidate must pass through and that Oke has met all the conditions and was consequently adopted with the consent of Olowookere.

He said: “We are using this forum to disown the youth in their unruly action to embarrass our candidate. We want Chief Oke to note that such statements did not emanate from the AD.”

He recalled that Oke was planning to defect to the Action Alliance (AA), but quickly retraced his steps by joining the AD, because it is a platform that has structure all over the Southwest.

Adebobola said Oke was embraced and welcomed into the fold, because he is as a man with sound academic and administrative pedigree, which would make the AD the party to beat in the November 26 poll.

He said: “Olowookere stepped down for Oke formally with due process; he signed all the necessary papers with the independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and consequently the electoral body has ratified him as the AD flag bearer in the election.

“Similarly, we want to inform the public that Olowookere never took a kobo before handing over the ticket to Oke; hence he has been honoured as the AD leader in Ondo State. We want to say categorically that such youth association does not exist.

“They want to create confusion within our party; we know the antics of the opposition. Thus, we are not moved; we remain focused, because our target is victory on November 26. We know the faceless youths were sponsored by those desperate for power; they can embark on any prank, but we are winning the election.”

The AD chairman urged Oke to continue with his strategic move of wooing voters to the party to facilitate his victory and that of the party in the election.

Oke picks ex-Rep Gani Dauda as running mate

ONDO State Alliance for Democracy (AD) governorship candidate Chief Olusola Oke has picked a former governorship aspirant under All Progressives Congress (APC), Gani Dauda, as his running mate for the November 26 governorship poll.

A source close to the state AD hierarchy confirmed that the decision to pick Dauda was agreed on Sunday after the party’s caucus meeting in Akure, the state capital.

Stakeholders in the four local government areas of Akoko land have been agitating for Muslim deputy governorship ticket under any party to secure votes from the area.

Oke had on Saturday dumped the  APC for AD, where he was consequently picked to replace Akin Olowookere as the party’s candidate.

It was learnt that the former member representing Akoko North East and Akoko North West Federal Constituency at the National Assembly was at the venue of the meeting to sign his membership card as a member of the AD.

The former lawmaker said the Christian/Muslim ticket of the AD would win the next election in the state.

“I am a Muslim and from Akokoland. We are taking Ondo State to a new height,” Dauda said.

He added that Oke, Senator Ajayi Boroffice and Dr. Olusegun Abraham “are all working together”.

Dauda, from Irun Akoko, represented Akoko North East and Akoko North West Federal Constituency between 2011 and 2015.

Ondo 2016: Oke dumps APC for AD

After weeks of speculation, one of the aggrieved governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress(APC) yesterday joined  the Alliance for Democracy(AD).

Oke, who polled 576 votes after the September 3 gubernatorial primaries, said he dumped the party because of the action of its National chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.

Oyegun overruled the decision of the National Working Committee (NWC) that called for fresh primary following irregularities detected by the Appeal Committee that probed the post-primary crisis.

Addressing crowd of supporters at his Ijapo estate residence, Oke said since the leadership of the party had failed to do justice to the irregularities, he decided to dump APC to realise his aspiration under the AD.

Oke, who was the former National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), described APC as a good party but lamented it had been hijacked by some cabals.

According to him, it was illogical and wrong for Oyegun to jettison the verdict of the majority members of the NWC when it was cleared the shadow election was allegedly manipulated in favour of the governorship candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu(SAN).

Oke noted that many APC stakeholders including National Leader of the party Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar had condemned the NWC, calling for cancellation of the exercise which was not addressed.

The legal practitioner assured his supporters that by God’s grace, he would actualise his dream on the platform of the AD.

Sources hinted that the National leadership of the AD had formally written to the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) for replacement of its candidate for the coming governorship election in Ondo State.

The AD asked that the name of the party’s candidate Dr Akin Olowookere be substituted with that of Chief Oke for the governorship election.

The party had already persuaded Olowookere to make way for Oke, following intervention of some prominent founding fathers of the party.

Olowookere, it was gathered, has agreed to the arrangements and will become an integral part of Oke team.

Oke is expected to be joined in the AD by some aggrieved governorship aspirants from the APC, including Senator Ajayi Boroffice.
