    JUST IN: INEC presents certificates of return to Okpebholo, Idahosa

    Edo state governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and his deputy, Hon. Denis Idahosa on Thursday, September 26, received their certificates of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

    The certificates were presented to them by Mrs Rhoda Gomos, a national commissioner who represented the Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.

    They were accompanied to the INEC headquarters by the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, National Secretary, Senator Bashiru Ajibola, and Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, Senator Adams Oshiomhole and the Deputy Governor of Edo state, Phillip Shuaibu among others.

    APC youths pledge support for Okpebholo

    All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth League has assured Edo Governor-elect, Monday Okpebholo, of support to ensure smooth take off of his administration.

    National President,  Olamide Lawal, said the group was ready to be part of the progressive ideas of the governor-elect.

    He said in a statement: “We also urge you to ensure your government is ‘youth-centric’. Rest assured of our readiness and willingness to be part of your government.”

    The senator representing Lagos West District, Dr Idiat Oluranti Adebule, has congratulated Edo State Governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on his victory in last Saturday’s governorship election.

    Senator Adebule rejoiced with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the officers and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at all levels, especially those in Edo State for working hard to secure the victory, as well as ensuring additional member to the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF).

    She hailed the people of Edo State for casting their votes for Senator Okpebholo and the APC.

    This, she said, is a confirmation that the people are hopeful of a brighter and prosperous future for Nigeria which is the main focus of the economic reforms being implemented by President Tinubu’s administration.

    The former Lagos State Deputy Governor expressed confidence that Senator Okpebholo would live up to the expectations of the people of Edo State as their governor.

    She solicited support and prayers from the people of Edo State for the incoming governor.

    Senator Adebule hailed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for ensuring a level playing field for participants and ensuring smooth conduct of the exercise.

    She also commended Nigeria Police under IGP Kayode Egbetokun and other security personnel who participated in the election for doing a good job.

    The National Coordinator of the Edo Strategic Network, Mr. Christopher Omoaghe, has congratulated Senator Monday Okpebholo and Hon Denis Idahosa on their victory in Saturday’s Edo governorship election.

    In a statement in Benin City, Omoaghe expressed profound belief that the people of Edo State have shown unwavering confidence in the leadership abilities of Okpebholo and Idahosa to steer the state towards progress and prosperity.

    Former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege has hailed the election of All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator Monday Okpebholo as governor-elect of Edo State, viewing it as a strong endorsement of President Bola Tinubu’s economic roadmap aimed at restoring Nigeria’s prosperity.

    In his congratulatory message to Okpebholo and the APC, Senator Omo-Agege emphasised that while Okpebholo was the candidate, the election served as a test of President Tinubu’s administration and its policies.

    The statement which was made available to reporters in Warri, Delta State, by his Media Adviser, Sunny Areh, said: “When an election comes up almost at the mid-term point of an administration, it is akin to a referendum on the administration. The outcome is a testament to the sophistication of Edo voters, and I believe the Nigerian electorate, that is not appreciated by political leaders, but unravelled in Saturday’s election.”

    Senator Omo-Agege posted that beyond the immediate challenges orchestrated by the reforms, Nigerians are seeing a bright horizon ahead.

    He enjoined Nigerians to continue to support President Tinubu and his policies, affirming that the ongoing reforms are unique, as they are rooted in rejigging the fundamentals of the economy.

    The Katsina state Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda has extended warm congratulations to Senator Monday Okpebholo on his emergence as the governor-elect of Edo state under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

    The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Okpebholo and his running mate, Idahosa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winners of the Governorship election after polling a total of 291,667 votes to beat Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party who scored 247,655 votes and the Labour Party candidate, Olumide Akpata with 22,763 votes.

    Kalu also commended the electoral umpire, INEC and the security agencies for ensuring that the electoral process ran seamlessly without the breakdown of law and order in the State.
