Oluwo berates EFCC over litigations against Naira abusers

Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi has criticized the Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) over the recent litigations against Nigerians for abusing Naira.

Oluwo described the recent efforts by EFCC to punish Naira abusers as a misplaced priority, stressing the need for the commission to carry out comprehensive enlightenment for Nigerians on naira handlings before enforcing penalties.

“The recent litigations by the EFCC against naira abuse is a misplaced priority. The practice of spraying money is more cultural to the Yorubas and Igbos. There is a cultural spirit in Yoruba that forces you to spend money uncontrollably at your exciting moment. I’m sure the spirit will be tamed when people have public knowledge of possible penalties for naira abuse.

“The commission should not place the cart before the horse. EFCC should devise both print and electronic media to enlighten the public on those acts constituting naira abuse and spell out penalties. The public knowledge will unavoidably caution individuals and empower the commission to identify and punish arrogant naira abusers.”

He noted that the government ushered in new rebirth of prosperity and abundance for Nigeria.

According to him, “if any government or political officer holder is hoarding palliatives, it is a curse. People should not incur the wrath of God in these periods of Ramadan and Easter. You can’t finish that food by yourself, it will only kill you. Instead, distribute it like I am doing to those who need it. This is leadership! King is the servant and the people; you treat them as kings because I want to raise kings.”

The monarch said traditional rulers are links between the government and the people, adding: “I went to my people one-on-one and I met them in their homes to give them food. I am only complementing the efforts of President Tinubu.

“It is a new rebirth of Nigeria. We saw it, when the government of President Tinubu came to power, we didn’t really know what was going on, people started lamenting hardship, but after that, we can see that there is sincerity of purpose, he has a good plan. This is why we are imploring Nigerians in this time of rebirth that rich Nigerians should help their neighbours and the poor.”

“But I must advise the local manufacturers and producers in Nigeria, this country has been good to them by banning importation, they should try as much as possible to grab this opportunity and not use it as a way to suffer our people. We can as well open our borders for importation but the government wants to help local manufacturers.

“So I want to urge them to give back to the people by bringing down prices, I don’t see why the price of cement will go up, it is just like sand, rock, limestone… everything used in producing cement is from this country, this is not about foreign exchange, why will cement be N10,000. Local manufacturers must desist from trying to sabotage this government; they should work with this present administration to succeed. We can see that the current government is trying and we know that we have capable hands in his cabinet.”

He said: “No bandit or kidnapper can attack or ambush me, not on this earth. They can try it, then they want to test the efficacy of the authority that I am representing. Kingship institution is owned by God and I am his representative, you can’t kill me nor kidnap me but once kings fail to acknowledge God, there will be problems.

“There is no kidnapper nor bandit who is born that can attack me in such a manner, no war can conquer me. What is happening in Yoruba land to kings is not good at all, they are removing kings at will and death is not the only thing happening to traditional rulers. Kings have now become servants to the government. Abomination!”

He added that when kings return to God, they will be fortified like the olden days. Evil occurrences cannot befall them. I can help them out.
