Why APC will win Delta in 2027, by Omo-Agege

The success of President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms and internal restructuring as well as widespread discontent with the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration have paved the way for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to be booted out of Delta State in 2027, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has said.

The former Senate Deputy President said the All Progressives Congress (APC) which controls the three senatorial seats is primed to take over the state.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Koko, Warri North, Omo-Agege reflected on the APC’s narrow loss in the 2023 governorship election, vowing to unseat the ruling PDP in 2027.

“We came so close in 2023, but fell short by whiskers,” he said.

“However, we’ve learned from our mistakes and are now more determined than ever to win Delta State for the APC.”

Rallying supporters at the meeting, Omo-Agege, addressed post-election grievances and rejected the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s declaration of 4,000 votes for APC and 10,000 for PDP in Warri North, alleging systemic rigging by PDP.

“Our votes were organic; theirs were products of writing,” he charged, recalling the PDP’s dubious record of delivering 68,000 votes in the area.

Omo-Agege defended President Tinubu’s economic reforms, highlighting the removal of fuel subsidies and exchange rate unification.

While acknowledging the initial hiccups, he framed the measures as crucial for Nigeria’s and Delta State’s future development.

“Although increased fuel, food, and forex prices came with challenges, President Tinubu’s wise decision-making will yield a better future,” Omo-Agege stated.

He noted that Delta State receives more funds, as President Tinubu channels savings to states beyond Abuja. This, he believes, will have a transformative impact, tying the APC’s 2027 prospects to the president’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.

The Delta APC leader acknowledged strategic mistakes in response to stakeholders’ criticism, including the failure to integrate new members, which led to the alienation of some loyalists. “We’ve paid the price for this oversight,” he admitted. “I should have fostered a stronger bond between old and new members. That error had significant consequences.”

He urged PDP members to defect, describing the ruling party as a “sinking ship” on the brink of collapse. While acknowledging that APC faces similar unity challenges, he downplayed internal friction as “growing pains” ahead of 2027. “Post-congress disputes are not unique to us; even the PDP is grappling with internal conflicts,” he added.

The leader criticised members who boycotted polls due to grievances, labeling it self-sabotage.

“Why stay home? Vote first, defend your votes, and then resolve issues. By staying away, we all lose,” he said, lamenting missed opportunities to secure seats in Asaba, stressing that “the 2027 demands unity. We must put aside divisions between old and new members and work together towards a common goal.”

Omo-Agege projected optimism, asserting that Tinubu’s policies would stabilise the economy by 2027, making APC the “natural choice” for voters seeking “democratic dividends.”

  • Omo-Agege reaffirms commitment to inclusive leadership in Delta APC

Omo-Agege reaffirms commitment to inclusive leadership in Delta APC

Former deputy Senate President, Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege, has reaffirmed his commitment to more inclusive leadership in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Delta State chapter.

Speaking at an interactive stakeholders’ meeting in Patani, Patani Local Government Area (LGA), attended by party members, stakeholders, and leaders from across the State, Senator Omo-Agege assured that the party will adopt a more participatory approach to decision-making by giving every stakeholder a voice.

The meeting, which was part of Omo-Agege’s statewide thank-you tour, aimed at reviewing the party’s performance in the last elections, identifying mistakes, and correcting them ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to the Delta APC 2023 governorship candidate, this renewed focus on inclusivity would harness diverse perspectives, accommodate all interests, and empower stakeholders to contribute to the party’s future direction.

“I don’t claim to have a monopoly on good ideas. It’s through conversations like these that we can come up with better solutions to move our party and state forward.

“We’ve made mistakes, but what’s important is that we’re engaging in stakeholder discussions. This is an opportunity for us to exchange ideas, learn from each other, and refine our strategies. We must work together to build a stronger, more united party that truly represents the interests of all Deltans,” he stated.

Senator Omo-Agege commended APC members and voters in Patani for their unwavering support despite facing intimidation and hostility from opposing forces.

“I sincerely thank you all for standing by me and our party. Your support is truly incredible, and I’m proud that you voted not just for me but for our President, Senator, and House of Assembly candidate. Your unwavering support means the world to me,” he said.

Omo-Agege also assured the party faithful that addressing the issues they raised would pave the way for a resounding victory in all elections in 2027.

He emphasized the critical role women play in politics, assuring APC women that the party will support and recognize them as vital stakeholders.

“Women are the backbone of our party and our communities. They play a crucial role in elections, and we must ensure they receive the support and recognition they deserve. I assure you that the concerns raised by our women leaders will be addressed, and we will work tirelessly to promote gender inclusivity and empowerment within our party,” he assured.

Charging party faithful to embrace unity at the unit and ward levels, Omo-Agege asserted that internal crises would be resolved and that Delta APC would emerge stronger and more resilient.

He further assured party loyalists that their hard work and sacrifices would not go unnoticed, promising recognition and rewards for those who have stood by the party.

“Political conflicts and internal crises are inevitable, but we must work through these challenges to strengthen our party. We must build bridges, foster dialogue, and promote understanding among our members. By doing so, we will create a more united, cohesive, and formidable party that can deliver victory in future elections.

“We will ensure that those who have worked tirelessly for our party are recognized and rewarded. We appreciate your dedication, perseverance, and commitment to our shared vision. We will continue to stand by you as we move forward, together, towards a brighter future for Delta State and our great party,” he stated.

  • Omo-Agege laments infrastructural neglect of Burutu, Bomadi councils

Omo-Agege laments infrastructural neglect of Burutu, Bomadi councils

Former Senate Deputy President Ovie Omo-Agege has condemned the persistent neglect and underdevelopment of Burutu and Bomadi Local Government Areas by successive Peoples Democratic Party(PDP)-led administrations in Delta State.

Expressing concerns over the State Government’s failure to provide basic infrastructure in Burutu and Bomadi, Omo-Agege said that despite the significant economic contributions of these oil-producing areas, the government has failed to improve their infrastructure and overall living conditions over the years.

Omo-Agege, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the 2023 elections, expressed shock over the deplorable state of roads describing his journey from Warri to Burutu as frustratingly slow due to the horrendous condition of the roads.

He lamented that after 25 years of PDP rule, there has been little or no progress in the areas, leaving the people in hardship despite their wealth of natural resources and contributions to Delta State’s treasury.

Speaking at the APC interactive leaders and stakeholders’ meeting in Delta South Senatorial District, at Torugbene in Burutu Local Government Area and St. Paul’s Catholic Church Hall, Bomadi, Senator Omo-Agege recounted how his party’s victory in the two local government areas were stolen through electoral manipulation.

Citing INEC’s official results, he noted that the APC secured 48 percent of the votes in Burutu, despite the PDP’s perpetuation of irregularities to rig the election. Omo-Agege praised the resilience and determination of the people, particularly the youth and women, who played a crucial role in limiting the scale of rigging in the two local government areas.

“For decades, Burutu and Bomadi have been major economic contributors to Delta State’s wealth. Yet, there is little to show for it in terms of development,” Omo-Agege said.

He pointed out that while the PDP controlled Delta South’s Senate seat, the House of Representatives seat, and the two-state assembly seats for 24 years, successive governments have continuously failed to invest in these local governments.

Omo-Agege noted that the Delta State government often cites the construction of flyovers in Warri as a defense against criticisms of underdevelopment. However, he pointed out that these flyovers, being built by Julius Berger, were part of his campaign promises.

Omo-Agege questioned the inflated cost of the projects, highlighting that Rivers State had built 11 flyovers for ₦80 billion, whereas Delta State is spending ₦85 billion on just three. He added that the cost is likely to increase further due to anticipated variations, emphasizing that the project should not have been so expensive.

He also challenged the government to explain why, despite receiving over ₦1 trillion in FAAC allocations since May 2023, it has failed to construct a simple 20km road connecting Burutu to Bomadi.

Omo-Agege urged the people of the two Local Government Areas to demand accountability from the State Government.

He stressed that political affiliation should not come before community welfare and insisted that the people of Burutu and Bomadi have the right to question how their wealth is being used.

He assured them that if voted into power in 2027, APC would ensure that the Ijaw and Itsekiri people receive their fair share of development.

“For too long, these nationalities have only been given political appointments without tangible improvements in their infrastructure and living conditions. This will change if APC is voted into power in 2027,” he assured.

He insisted that appointments are not a substitute for real development and vowed to continue advocating for the infrastructure and economic empowerment that Burutu and Bomadi rightfully deserve.

Omo-Agege also reminded the people that the fight for development is not over. “The contributions of these local governments to Delta State and Nigeria as a whole must be recognized with meaningful investments, not just empty promises. Until that happens,” he vowed to continue holding those in power accountable for the continued neglect of Burutu and Bomadi.

Omo-Agege breaks jinx of Ndokwa’s underdevelopment with medical varsity- Stakeholders

The Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Kwale, Delta State, Dr. Banye Salisu, Vice Chancellor Prof. Abel Nze Onunu, and other Ndokwa leaders have hailed the establishment of the institution as a groundbreaking achievement, crediting Senator Ovie Omo-Agege for breaking decades of underdevelopment in the Ndokwa Nation.

Speaking at the university’s groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, at its permanent site between Kwale and Emu-Ebendo, the stakeholders applauded Omo-Agege’s efforts in securing the specialized medical institution.

Dr. Salisu described the university as a major milestone, emphasizing its importance not just for Delta State but for the entire South-South region. “Today is a testimony of Senator Omo-Agege’s efforts. He lobbied for this university, and while five others were created at the same time, this institution stands out significantly,” he stated.

He further stressed that the university is not limited to Delta State but is a regional institution meant to serve the entire South-South. “All states in this region are stakeholders, and it is our collective responsibility to rally support for its development and successful takeoff,” he added.

Onunu, in his welcome address, highlighted the university’s significance, noting that it marks the first major federal government presence in Ndokwa land. “Before now, the only notable federal structure in this area was a colonial prison. For decades, Ndokwa has suffered neglect, and today, Kwale still lacks public power supply despite the numerous oil wells in the region,” he lamented.

He commended Omo-Agege for championing the institution’s establishment, stating that it represents the beginning of real development for the Ndokwa people. “For too long, our people have faced stagnation, but today, that chain has been broken. This university is a game-changer, and we are hopeful that more developmental projects will follow,” Onunu remarked.

Other Ndokwa leaders expressed gratitude to former President Muhammadu Buhari for approving the university’s establishment after Omo-Agege lobbied for it. They also commended President Bola Tinubu for supporting the university with a takeoff grant, demonstrating his administration’s commitment to the Ndokwa Nation.

    Omo-Agege

In his remarks, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, who served as Deputy President of the 9th Senate, expressed his profound joy in witnessing the project come to life. He described the university’s establishment as a reflection of his unwavering commitment to development and transformation in Delta State. “As Deputy Senate President, my passion for service and vision for a better future drove me. Today, we take a giant leap towards realizing that vision,” he stated.

Omo-Agege emphasized that the university will provide quality education in medical and health sciences, drive economic growth, foster innovation, and create job opportunities for Ndokwa people. He extended heartfelt appreciation to President Buhari for his visionary leadership and initial approval of the project, as well as to President Tinubu for ensuring its smooth takeoff.

“I want to express my deepest gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for his visionary leadership and for giving the initial approval for this university. Your commitment to education and development is truly commendable, and we are grateful for your support.

“I also want to express my heartfelt appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering commitment to the establishment of this university. His leadership has been instrumental in bringing this project to fruition, and we’re grateful for his vision and dedication to improving access to quality education in Nigeria.

“Under President Tinubu’s leadership, the university is receiving the necessary funding for success. His administration’s approval of this institution, alongside other tertiary institutions, underscores his commitment to expanding educational opportunities and securing a brighter future for Nigerian students,” Omo-Agege said.

He further highlighted Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasizing that the administration is dedicated to enhancing access to tertiary education nationwide. “We are proud to see this vision become a reality in Kwale,” he concluded.

Omo-Agege rallies APC support in Delta, promises strategic victory

The political landscape of Delta State saw a significant boost as Senator Ovie Omo-Agege engaged with All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders and stakeholders in Ogwashi-Uku and Issele-Uku during the week.

The meetings, held in Aniocha South and North Local Government Areas, were marked by overwhelming support for the former Deputy Senate President.

At Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South APC Chairman, Pastor Nobert Akachukwu Sochukwudimma, commended Omo-Agege’s leadership, describing him as a leader who takes responsibility and listens to grievances.

“When he told me he was coming, not just to meet his followers but also to hear from those with grievances, I knew he was a true leader.

Aniocha South APC is eager for electoral success. With your proven strategy, we believe victory is within reach,” Sochukwudimma said.

He urged Omo-Agege to replicate the winning strategies used in Ughelli North and Delta Central, which had previously led to electoral victories.

Former Delta State Commissioner and APC House of Representatives candidate for Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, Dr. Tony Nwaka, also praised Omo-Agege, calling him a “grassroots general” with an exceptional ability to mobilize people.

“Politics is about mobilizing the people, and there is nothing more heartwarming and encouraging than having a proven general leading you into battle—someone with a track record of competence in grassroots mobilization,” Nwaka stated.

He emphasized the effectiveness of Omo-Agege’s strategic approach, citing his personal success in the last general elections, where he secured a 5/5 win in his polling unit.

Other APC stalwarts at the event echoed their confidence in Omo-Agege’s leadership.

Dr. Ifeanyi Odikpo advised him to prioritize grassroots mobilization over transactional politics, cautioning “forget big names and focus on the common people who have the votes”.

Dr. Antonia Ashiedu acknowledged past electoral challenges but expressed confidence in Omo-Agege’s ability to lead.

“Yes, he made some mistakes in 2023 by listening to certain friends, but make no mistake, Omo-Agege is a political field marshal who knows how to win. If he runs in 2027, Deltans should rally behind him”, she said.

At Issele-Uku, Omo-Agege received an enthusiastic welcome, with traditional dancers led by The Owelle of Onicha-Olona,  Chief Jerry Chukwuma Nkeweshe, setting the stage for a vibrant reception.

Women from Onicha-Olona also performed cultural dances in appreciation of his visit and commitment to Delta State’s development.

With the momentum from these engagements, political analysts believe Omo-Agege remains a formidable force in Delta State politics.

As the APC strengthens its base in Aniocha South and North, his grassroots approach could prove pivotal in shaping the party’s future electoral success.

  • Omo-Agege APC’s best for Delta in 2027 – Olejeme

    Omo-Agege APC’s best for Delta in 2027 – Olejeme

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State Dr. (Mrs.) Ngozi Olejeme has declared that former Senate Deputy President Ovie Omo-Agege remains the party’s best candidate to lead the APC to victory in the 2027 Delta State governorship election.

Olejeme, a prominent party leader in Delta North, made this assertion on Tuesday in Asaba, Oshimili South Local Government Area during a stakeholders’ meeting convened by Senator Omo-Agege to review the 2023 elections and and express gratitude to supporters.

She emphasised that addressing the mistakes of the 2023 election, including security lapses, would position Omo-Agege as the strongest contender to secure APC’s victory in the next election.

“If we reflect on the last election, both our governorship candidate and his deputy made some mistakes. We, as party leaders, also made ours. Moving forward, let us forgive ourselves and unite for progress,” she said.

Speaking directly to Omo-Agege, she added: “We will win Delta, and we will stand by you if you decide to run again because you are the best person to lead APC to victory. If we must win the next election, we must stand together. A house divided against itself cannot stand.

“Those who worked against the party in the last election, are you happy now that PDP is in power? Are you benefiting from the state government? If APC were in power today, every committed party member could demand from the government, and they would listen.

“Omo-Agege and his deputy are our own, and we must support them. If APC truly wants to take over governance in Delta State, Omo-Agege remains our best option to get the job done.”

Supporting this position, Prof. Leroy Edozien, APC Leader in Oshimili South LGA, urged party leaders in Delta to set aside their differences, stressing that if avoidable mistakes had been corrected in the last election, APC would have won the state.

In his response, Senator Omo-Agege assured party leaders and members in Oshimili South LGA that the mistakes of the last election would be corrected. He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to winning Delta State and promised to mend fences where necessary to build a stronger and more united front ahead of 2027.

“The mistakes we made in the last election will be corrected, and we will not allow them to cheat us again. You gave everything you had, you made sacrifices, and yet, despite our efforts, we did not succeed.

“I recognise your sacrifices. Some of you endured hardships, even violence, yet you remained committed. Your dedication means everything to me, and that is why I came here today—to speak directly with the grassroots, the people who made everything happen.”

Acknowledging the concerns raised by party members, Omo-Agege urged for unity and dialogue among all APC members in Delta, including those with differing opinions.

“Even within families, there are disagreements—husbands and wives argue, siblings quarrel—but in the end, they reconcile. Politics is no different. Challenges will arise, but what matters is that we acknowledge we are all members of the same political party.

“I have been following discussions and staying updated. This is not just about me —it is about APC Delta State as a whole. We must remain open to dialogue. In our stakeholders’ meetings, we should invite even those who disagree with us and allow them to speak. Open discussions are the only way forward.

“I assure you, especially our leaders, that any differences we have will be resolved. We have done it before, and we will do it again. Those who have followed our politics know this to be true. After the last congresses in 2022, we found a way forward, and we will do so again,” she stated.

  • Gov Oborevwori, Okowa begging to join APC, Omo-Agege alleges

Gov Oborevwori, Okowa begging to join APC, Omo-Agege alleges

Former Senate Deputy President Ovie Omo-Agege has told Delta Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his predecessor Ifeanyi Okowa to remain in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stating that they are not welcome in the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Senator Omo-Agege, who was the APC governorship candidate in the 2023 election, noted the party has continued to gain momentum in the State with the only PDP senator set to join the APC and about three House of Representatives members also preparing to switch allegiance.

Speaking during an APC leaders, elders, and stakeholders meeting on Monday in Agbor, Ika South and Ute-Okpu in Ika North East Local Government Areas, he emphasised that while the party is open to welcoming Senator Ned Nwoko, members of the House of Representatives, House of Assembly members and other PDP leaders, it has no interest in Oborevwori and Okowa joining its ranks.

According to him: “After the 2023 elections, the PDP spread false propaganda, claiming that APC no longer exists in Delta. Yet, this is a state where APC won two senatorial seats and two House of Reps seats. Today, the only PDP senator is set to join APC, and you are still saying we are not on the ground? Are we not the majority party?

“In Delta Central Senatorial District, where I and Governor Oborevwori come from, APC won the senatorial seat. Out of three House of Reps seats, APC won two, while the remaining one was won by the Labour Party. PDP won none. Out of nine House of Assembly seats, APC secured five, while PDP got four. So, which party is truly more popular?”

Omo-Agege accused Oborevwori’s administration of attempting to downplay APC’s strength despite the party’s growing influence.

He also highlighted that despite the presence of a sitting PDP Governor and a former vice-presidential candidate in Ika South and Ika North East, APC still secured the required 25% of votes in the last election.

He reassured party members that all internal issues within Delta APC would be resolved ahead of 2027, emphasising that PDP’s national crisis could render it irrelevant by the next election cycle.

“We should stop focusing on our internal issues and instead take advantage of the PDP’s bigger problems. Are we even sure PDP will still exist in 2027? Their crisis at the national level is worsening. Our focus should be on winning the next elections and re-electing President Bola Tinubu,” he stated.

Omo-Agege further stated that the successes of Tinubu’s policies have made APC the most attractive party in Delta State, drawing interest from several political figures.

However, he firmly rejected any potential defection by Okowa and Oborevwori, saying, “We have built this party from scratch, and we will not allow people with questionable records to destroy what we have worked hard for.”

He added: “Soon, we will have three senators, and I am aware that the three PDP House of Reps members are joining APC. Some House of Assembly members will also join us. We welcome everyone except Oborevwori and Okowa. They should remain in PDP and rebuild their party.”

“Some House of Assembly members will also come to APC. You know that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s government is pushing Delta State House Assembly members. You can’t even speak as a member; if you dare speak, you will be slammed with suspension. So, they are all coming, and we welcome them; the only two people who are not welcomed are Governor Sheriff and Okowa. They should remain in PDP and build their party.

“Stay united, stay strong, and thank you once again for your dedication and hard work,” Omo-Agege added.

Barr. Felix Morka, National Publicity Secretary of APC, also assured party members that the APC National Chairman and other key stakeholders were committed to resolving any internal issues within the Delta State chapter before the 2027 elections.

Several party leaders who spoke at the event, including Hon. Fada Ibudeh, Chief Stevenson Ikpade, Chief Sunny Chuks Obuseh, Hon. Fred Ofume, Pst. Paul Ebede, Lady Philomena Agholor, Dr. Goddy Ibeh, Dr. Chamberlain Dunkwu, Mr. Godwin Ogadi and Barr. • APC is Delta politics’ beautiful bride, says Omo-Agege

APC is Delta politics’ beautiful bride, says Omo-Agege

Former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege yesterday urged the people in Delta State to scrutinise and ask critical questions over the huge oil receipts and other accruals flowing into the state in the last eighteen months.

Omo-Agege, who described the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the beautiful bride in the state, said there is no room for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his predecessor, Ifeanyi Okowa, in the APC.

He said the duo would not be admitted into the APC fold should they decide to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform.

Omo-Agege attributed Delta’s huge allocations by the Federation Accounts and Allocation Committee (FAAC) to President Ahmed Tinubu’s twin economic policies which he noted “ensued that huge sums were freed up for development project”.

He maintained that prior to the coming on board of the Tinubu administration, Delta’s highest allocation for the same period was N150 billion.

Omo-Agege lamented that the state had nothing to show for the huge federal allocations, in terms of real development.

According to him, the state’s allocation in the last eighteen months topped N1 trillion naira, stressing that despite this huge allocation, Delta has remained underdeveloped.

Omo-Agege, who was on a ‘thank you visit’ to Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, urged party faithful to join him in asking questions about the state’s finances.

He said: “There is so much money coming into the state as a result of the removal of oil subsidy and flotation of naira.

“In the last one and a half years, Delta has received N1 trillion. Before President Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, the highest Delta earned was about N150 billion.

“These monies should be used to develop our state but the Delta state government is acting as if nothing is coming in.

“They continue to trick us, yet a lot is coming courtesy of the Tinubu’s administration. The benefits of these allocations are being used to settle debts incurred by previous PDP-led administrations.

“I want Deltans to start asking questions as we are all stakeholders in this state. The state belongs to all of us.”

He boasted that the ranks of the opposition APC is swelling with defectors from the riling PDP.

He urged Oborevwori and Okowa to steer clear of the APC as the beautiful bride in Delta politics.

Omo-Agege said: “The rank of the party is swelling; APC is now the bride of Delta politics; In as much as we want everybody to come, lease tell Oborevwori and Okowa to stay away from APC. We don’t want them to pollute us.”

He said the purpose of his thank you visit to the grassroots is to dispel PDP propaganda that Delta APC is dead, stressing that his party beat PDP in Delta Central in the 2023 election, his home senatorial district and that of Gov Oborevwori, to clinch the line senate seat, including two House of Representative seats.

Omo-Agege added that the third House of Representative seat in the election was won by Labour Party (LP).

He said: “At the end of the 2023 election in Delta Central, the APC, led by my humble self, had more votes than the PDP. The APC defeated the PDP in Delta Central where I and Oborevwori hail from.

“Out of the three House of Representative seats, APC won two while the third seat was won by LP. Out of the nine House of Assembly seats in Delta Central, APC won five while PDP won four. Also APC in Delta South won the senate seat and two House of Assembly seats. They claim there’s no APC in Delta state when we are the majority party.”

  • Omo-Agege: Delta has not treated Ndokwa East fairly

Omo-Agege: Delta has not treated Ndokwa East fairly

Former Senate Deputy President Ovie Omo-Agege has accused the PDP-led Delta State Government of marginalising the people of Ndokwa East Local Government Area.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting with APC elders, leaders, and members in Aboh, Ndokwa East, Omo-Agege lamented that despite the area’s significant contributions to the state’s revenue, there is little to show in terms of tangible infrastructure development.

Addressing the underdevelopment in Ndokwa East, the former Delta All Progressives Congress(APC) governorship candidate said: “Look at Abor, where we are today—no telephone network, yearly flooding, and yet none of these issues have caught the attention of the Delta State Government. Is there anyone here who is not feeling the pains of underdevelopment?”

“My challenge to the state government is simple: What have they done to address these challenges? Or is Ndokwa East not part of Delta State? With all your contributions to the state’s revenue, what do you have to show except neglect?”

Assuring that when APC takes over government in 2027, Ndokwa East will get special attention, he added: “Ndokwa East is a special local government area; this is so because my deputy comes from here. In the last election, because of the fear of my deputy, PDP paid special attention to Ndokwa East. Overnight, they appointed three Commissioners, many Executive Assistants, and Senior Special Assistants. But despite all that, we came very close to winning the local government, losing by just about a thousand votes, according to INEC’s declared results.”

He further alleged that PDP manipulated the election results, stating, “One thing that is clear from the votes we got is that our over 9,000 votes are organic and legitimate votes. But that can’t be said of their own. Like someone said here, where they got 300, they would add one in front to make it 1,300, and that is how they won, unlike our votes, which are genuine.”

Omo-Agege also claimed that the PDP attempted to buy over APC ward and local government executives before the elections. “Recall that two weeks to the election, as one of our leaders here mentioned, they went around offering our Ward and Local Government executives N5 million each to defect to PDP. That is why, overnight, some of our executives decamped. However, those who took the money have been abandoned, and the N5 million they collected has long been spent.”

He urged APC members to remain united, emphasising that politics is a game of numbers and that every member, regardless of when they joined, is important. “Politics is about numbers. One person alone cannot deliver a local government. Our strength lies in our ability to expand and bring more people into the party. We saw the difference in the results from 2019 and 2023 because we grew our support base.”

Omo-Agege assured party faithful that their efforts in the last election were not in vain, urging them not to be discouraged. “Among all the nine LGAs in Delta North, you performed exceptionally well. You came very close to winning the local government for us, but for forces beyond your control. With a little push, I believe you can take us across the finish line. So, don’t be discouraged.”

He also called for unity among APC leaders, stating, “In every political family, just like in our personal families, people have disagreements, but they always settle. Whatever issues exist among our leaders, they will be resolved for the good of our party. We are brothers and sisters; we will not fight to the death. So, go about mobilizing new members to join our party. Let the leaders handle their disagreements and find common ground.”

Omo-Agege: Tinubu’s policies yielding significant gains, giving States higher revenue

Former Deputy Senate President Dr Ovie Omo-Agege has said the economic policies of President Bola Tinubu are already yielding significant gains, including higher revenue for States.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting with APC elders, leaders, and members in Obiaruku and Kwale, Ukwuani, and Ndokwa West Local Government Areas, Omo-Agege explained that while the policies has led to more money coming to the coffers of the States, many of the Governors, like that of Delta has not judiciously used the increase allocation to transform their States.

The 2023 Delta APC governorship candidate  told Deltans to ask questions on what the huge allocation coming to the State as a result of the removal of petroleum subsidy and floating of the Naira are being used for.

Omo-Agege criticised the Delta State Government’s handling of increased revenue following the removal of fuel subsidies and unification of the exchange rate, alleging that funds meant for development were instead used to service questionable loans.

He urged the Ndokwa people to demand accountability from the government regarding oil revenue and other resources.

“Despite receiving over N1 trillion from FAAC and IGR, the Delta State government and local government area councils have failed to develop the state,” Omo-Agege said.

“Instead, they prioritise debt repayment, cater to godfathers and oil party structures. We must put an end to this wasteful governance and enthrone a progressive government that would build a brighter future for Delta State. A win for the APC in 2027 would signal a new era of prosperity, transparency, and accountability.

“It would mean better infrastructure, improved healthcare and education, and economic opportunities for all. The people of Delta State deserve nothing less,” he said.

Omo-Agege reaffirmed support for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stating we must also win Delta State for APC in the presidential election in 2027 to sustain the country’s economic transformation of President Tinubu Renewed Hope Agenda.

“The agenda has already yielded significant gains, including higher revenue for states and local governments, better economic growth rates, declining imports, higher exports, and higher income for farmers. To sustain this momentum and ensure the long-term growth and development of our country, it’s crucial we reelect President Tinubu in 2027,” he said.

Several APC leaders, including Barr. David Ochonogor, Chief Dele Omenogor, Chief Johnson Opone, and Prof. Ogwezi Chuks, praised Omo-Agege for his contributions to Ndokwa Nation. They expressed gratitude for the establishment of the Federal University of Medical Sciences, Kwale, and pledged their continued support for his political ambitions in 2027.

He also appreciated party members for their resilience in the 2023 elections, assuring them that the perceived crisis among Delta State APC leaders will soon be resolved.

He attributed the APC’s loss of the 2023 governorship election to the PDP’s alleged compromise of the electoral process, rather than a lack of support.

Omo-Agege urged party leaders in Ndokwa Nation to unite, emphasizing the significance of the opposition’s win of two senatorial seats in Delta, adding “that we could have secured all three if not for Senator Peter Nwaoboshi’s ordeal.”

“We need everybody to come together and work as a team because the end of one election marks the beginning of another. I appeal to you all—let us put aside our differences and focus on what unites us. No one enters an election divided and expects to win” he said.

Omo-Agege expressed gratitude to APC supporters for their dedication and highlighted his key achievement: securing the establishment of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Kwale, a development he believes will provide quality education and drive economic growth in Delta State.

He stressed that APC must remain focused on its mission, emphasizing the need for unity, discipline, and strategic planning to overcome the PDP’s influence.

“The APC must not dwell on past election mistakes,” Omo-Agege said. “We must work harder to ensure victory in 2027. Overcoming the PDP’s influence requires unity, discipline, and strategic planning. We cannot simply rest on the outcome of the last election. We must continue to strive to change it, to ensure that APC prevails in Delta in 2027. To overcome the challenges posed by the PDP, we need unity and collective action. I encourage you all to rise above sentiments and distractions, focusing instead on our shared goal of defeating the PDP.

“I assure you that efforts will be made to bring everybody on board to ensure a united front against the PDP in the next election. I am committed to APC 100 percent and willing and ready to work with all the leaders and members of the party and supporters of our party.”
