  • Osun APC chides Saraki over senate committee

All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Ife Central Local Government, Adeleke Enitilo and his colleague from Ife East Local Government, Osun State, Mr. Kayode Ogundele have faulted the decision of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki for redeploying Senator Babajide Omoworare from Senate Committee on Rules and Business.

The chairmen lauded Omoworare for making the constituents and the party proud. The senate president had last week reshuffled the senate committees. In the change Omoworare was moved to the committee on Legislative Compliance which the chairmen described as “none existent committee.”

They chided the Senate President and the leadership of the Senate for redeploying Senator Omoworare. According to them, the senator was a victim of his loyalty to the party leadership.

According to the chairmen, “With this step, Saraki and the leadership of the Senate have shown their hatred for independent mindedness, party discipline, professionalism, brilliance and loyalty which Omoworare represents. How will one explain a situation where a Senator with 14 years legislative experience is deployed to a non-existing committee to be replaced by a Senator with just six months legislative experience.”

  • Governor, Osun APC, Omoworare hail Tinubu at 64

Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) and Chairman, Senate Committee on Rules and Business Senator Babajide Omoworare yesterday felicitated with All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu on his 64th birthday.

Bello, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Malam Jibrin Baba Ndace, described Tinubu as God’s precious gift to Nigeria and a detribalised leader.

The governor said Tinubu, over the years, exhibited uncommon political sagacity that has placed him far ahead of his political compatriots.

He extolled the political doggedness and commitment of the former Lagos State governor, which, he said, gave birth to the new political order being enjoyed in the country today.

The governor said: “Your commitment, patriotism and ‘never say die’ spirit with some other democrats are responsible for the new political order being enjoyed in the country. Over the years, you remain committed to the advancement of true democracy and good governance.

“The political height you have attained in the last 64 years was not by a sudden flight, but a reward of hard work, patience, perseverance, tolerance and strategic thinking, planning and execution. You remain a role model to generations and a factor in the political equation of this country.”

The Osun State APC, in a statement by its spokesperson, Kunle Oyatomi, said: “This birthday is all the more worth celebrating because the leader has come a long way in shaping the paradigm of change in Nigeria over the last decades.

“Very few Nigerians, if any, can lay claim to the level of political change that occurred in 2015 for the first time in the half century that Nigeria has been independent. But for the strategic masterstroke of Tinubu’s effort and political influence, a sitting Federal Government would never been removed through a free and fair election.

“His contribution in making Muhammadu Buhari president today is unparalleled in the history of political alliances in Nigeria. In spite of pessimisms and vicious criticism of the present administration that Tinubu helped to power for change, the APC is still standing and the government is firming its hold on power.

“This is not a mean achievement for an individual. The political history of Nigeria, whether we like it not, will give significant and positive mention to Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s contribution to the evolution of democracy in Nigeria.  All well-meaning people should, therefore, join in celebrating this irrepressible national leader of the APC at 64.”

Also, Omoworare, a senator representing Osun East, described Tinubu, as a fearless patriotic Nigerian and harbinger of change.

According to Omoworare: “Tinubu is an enigmatic political calculator and a visionary politician, whose life and leadership capacity is inspirational to everyone who dreams to be great.”

The senator, in his goodwill message by his media assistant, Tunde Dairo, described Tinubu as God’s blessing to Nigeria.

He said: “Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is so many things to so many people, depending on the side of divide you belong in the struggle for a just and people-oriented Nigeria.

“The life of selflessness and sacrifice of Asiwaju Tinubu is second to none in contemporary history. He is a dogged fighter whose dedication to the struggle for a better human society sees no huddle as too big to cross. He is a quintessential leader of all ages whose life and time will ever remain evergreen.”

  • Osun APC congratulates Oluwo

It called on the Oba to rule with wisdom and unite his people for progress – therein lies the success for any traditional ruler.

  • Osun APC to security agencies: investigate Omisore’s summit

Osun APC to security agencies: investigate Omisore’s summit

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has called on security agents to keep an eye on the “Summit on Education and Finance” organised by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),  Senator Iyiola Omisore and the Osun Stakeholders.

The APC referred to a briefing of the Osun Stakeholders  which the former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice,  Niyi Owolade, the National Publicity Secretary of Afenifere,  Yinka Odumakin, and former Board Chairman, Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, Dr. Muyiwa Oladimeji, had coordinated.

It said the summit is a ploy to create an atmosphere for mayhem and  chaos in the state.

In a statement by its Director of Publicity, Kunle Oyatomi, the party said: “We have been left with no doubt that the summit is another phase of the grand plot of the opposition to sustain their campaigns of calumny against the government.

“It is germane to inform all well-meaning, decent individuals who may have been invited to this ill-motivated summit but are unaware of the real intention to see through the selfish political aggrandisement that lurks behind it.

“Since when has the PDP become concerned about education? It had all the opportunity in seven years to prioritise education in the state, but left the sector to rot, until Governor Rauf  Aregbesola came in.

“Yinka Odumakin and the rest of the conveners participating in the so-called summit do not have any superior contribution to make that could replace what Prof. Wole Soyinka, erudite professors and other stakeholders had given to the Aregbeosola-led government.

“The Wole Soyinka-led summits’ advice and recommendation on how to reposition education in Osun are beyond what Omisore, PDP and the so-called stakeholders can ever produce.”

On finance, which the summit purports to discuss, the APC said the conveners lack any moral, political, professional or ethical basis to venture into that area.

“In the 90 months of its rule, the PDP administration generated N300 million Internally Generated Revenue, whereas in 40 months of the Aregbesola administration, the IGR was raised five times over without imposing additional tax.”

  • Osun APC rejects planned protest

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has condemned the planned rally calling for Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s impeachment.

The Civil Societies’ Coalition for Emancipation of Osun State (CSCEO) said over 20 civil and faith based societies are mobilising their members for the mass rally.

The party called on security agencies to hold the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyiola Omisore and his party responsible for any breach of peace.

The party, in a statement by the Director of Media and Strategy, Kunle Oyatomi, said it was aware of plans by a group of profiteers, who are being sponsored by Omisore and his party ,to unleash violence on the state using workers’ salaries as a camouflage.

The statement said: “We must alert the world to a threat by Omisore on June 14 at the PDP secretariat in Osogbo, where he promised party members that he was prepared to make the state ungovernable for Governor Aregesola.

“We are using this medium to inform the public and the media to be wary of the activities of these opportunists.

“The APC government under Aregbesola has had very fruitful negotiations with Organised Labour and we can therefore say without any contradiction that Labour has no hand in this proposed protest.

“It is high time the world read through the selfish agenda of Omisore and others, who are cashing in on the national wage crisis.”

  • Why Osun APC elder caucus disowned Deputy Speaker

Why Osun APC elder caucus disowned Deputy Speaker

The Elder Caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has explained why it  disowned Hon. Sulaiman Lasun Yusuf, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives. The group said his candidacy did not have the blessings of the party leadership, therefore,? the Elder Caucus dis-associated itself from the National Assembly poll in which Yusuf had emerged the Deputy Speaker.

According to the group the scenario that characterised the inauguration of the 8th National Assembly and emergence of  Yusuf as Deputy Speaker was not only a despicable act of betrayal and disloyalty to the party but also a breach and negation of the party’s directive.

The caucus  in a communique signed by its Chairman and Secretary, Prince Felix Awofisayo and Barrister Gbadegesin Adedeji respectively, said Yusuf’s  acceptance of the position was condemnable and should be seen as an anti-party acticvity. It further noted that the action disrespected the party leadership, adding that such action, if allowed to remain, is capable of promoting indiscipline and elevating ‘treachery and rebellion to an art.?’

“We examined critically, particularly as regards the circumstances that brought about the election of Hon. Lasun Yusuf, member representing Osogbo/Olorunda/Irepodun/Orolu Federal Constituency of the State as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.

“That the acceptance of the office of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives by Hon. Lasun Yusuf is not only a despicable act of betrayal and disloyalty to the party, but also a breach and negation of our party’s directive on the issue. That Hon. Lasun Yusuf allowed himself to be overwhelmed and driven by admixture of personal interest and vaulting ambition detrimental to the progress and stability of the party that nurtured him and on whose platform he was elected in the first place.

“That his action, if allowed to remain, is capable of promoting indiscipline and elevate treachery and rebellion to an art. That we condemned this anti-party tendency on the part of Hon. Lasun Yusuf without reservation and we hereby dissociate ourselves from it. That we pledge our support and unflinching loyalty to the dynamic and indefatigable Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, with a reminder that when the going is tough the tough gets going,” the group said.

  • Osun APC: Omisore a liar

    Osun APC: Omisore a liar

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has described the allegations by Iyiola Omisore against Governor Rauf Aregbesola as “a worthless vituperation”.

The party said: “The only path of honour left for the failed Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate is to produce proof to authenticate his allegations; otherwise there will be credible reason to doubt Omisore’s stability.”

Its Publicity Director, Kunle Oyatomi, yesterday told the media that “only someone with psychological disorder would make the kind of claims Omisore made without a shred of evidence.

“We are, therefore, challenging this PDP megaphone of falsehood to produce, within seven days, proof for every allegation made with corresponding evidence from the source or sources of his silly information.

“Those who have public interest at heart are invited to Osogbo to crosscheck Omisore’s figures against the facts.”

  • Osun APC calls for understanding

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has called on the people to exercise restraint, perseverance and understanding in the face of the financial adversity facing the state.

A statement by its Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy, Kunle Oyatomi, assured the people that things would soon normalise.

It reads: “Nigeria is going through an avoidable financial tragedy which had befallen the country owing, fundamentally, to human selfishness and carelessness, including gross mismanagement of the country’s financial resources.

“In times like this, when we face a collective challenge approaching the Ramadan, our faith must not waver, our restraint must not snap and our perseverance should hold firm so that we can triumph over this tragedy within the period.

“We give assurances to government workers and the people who depend on government that this crisis of non-payment of salaries and other entitlements will soon be resolved.”

The APC urged residents to disregard “the evil characters amongst us who are trying to incite them against the government over this tragedy”.

It continued: “These cynical people are empty and incapable of even suggesting a solution; but are out there only to sow discord and pry on others’ misfortune to gloat in mockery.”

  • Osun APC appeals to workers to be patient

Osun APC appeals to workers to be patient

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has called on workers and labour leaders to be patient with the government.

It assured that the economic crisis facing the state will be resolved in less than 60 days.

In a statement by its spokesman Kunle Oyatomi, the party said the incoming administration has given assurances that it will look into states’ allocation to the incidence of unpaid salaries.

The party said: “However, whatever is within the capacity of the government to do before then, it will certainly do to ease workers’ plight.

“The long and difficult battle to defeat the forces of evil that have squandered the nation’s wealth has just been won comprehensively. This has now paved the way for a new, progressive and responsible APC government to take over the affairs of the country and end the suffering which PDP’s corruption, mismanagement and treasury looting have brought on Nigerians, including Osun workers.

“This is a pleasant transition moment that requires sober, intelligent and calculating responses from all stakeholders so that we do not turn victory into sorrow by engaging in actions that will create more problems than solutions.

“Mohammadu Buhari has promised to solve this problem, it is our duty to exercise patience and trust the integrity of the new President to deliver on his promise.

“So, we urge labour and civil servants to give the new leader a breathing space to demonstrate his integrity and progressive credentials, which is not in dispute.”

The APC admitted that it is stressful to celebrate in a situation of crisis but also posited that “to create further crisis within a ‘crisis’ is not the wisest thing to do.”

According to the party, the stage is set for a solution but said that dialogue would best address the details of effecting that solution, not strike or demonstration or violence. The APC, therefore, called on all stakeholders to give peace a chance so that Osun will return to the glorious days when the Aregbesola-led APC government paid salaries promptly.

  • Osun APC thanks voters

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has congratulated the people for their “rejection” of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

The party said: “Not only did the people vote for peace and progress, their votes were unmistakably a rejection of everything the PDP and its leadership stood for in Osun.”

In a statement by its Director of Research and Publicity, Kunle Oyatomi, the APC claimed that “if anybody had doubted the rejection of PDP in Osun by the citizens, Saturday’s election said it loud and clear”.

“The PDP’s current leadership is its albatross; and except it is replaced by respectable, intelligent and dignified politicians, the PDP should be considered dead and buried in Osun.”

“The people of Osun have spoken. The coast is virtually clear for one of the most dramatic experience in social, economic and infra structural development residents would witness in the next four yearsunder the unusual and focused leadership of Rauf Aregbesola.”
