According to him, the sustainability of good governance is important, therefore, the state deserves the best in terms of good governance.

According to him, the APC-led government has performed well, saying what the government accomplished through Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) would remain a reference point

He enjoined party faithful to collect their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) as it is their only weapon to vote in the APC.

  • Osun APC denies Aregbesola, party leaders’ dispute

The All Progressives Congress in Osun State yesterday denied allegation that leaders and elders of the party disagreed with Governor Rauf Aregbesola on where the candidate for this year’s governorship election should come from.

In a statement yesterday in Osogbo, the state capital, the party’s Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy Kunle Oyatomi said the reports in some newspapers on the alleged impasse were false.

According to the party, there was no disagreement at a meeting between the governor and leaders, adding that “no one discussed the issues reported by a section of the media”.

The statement said: “What the meeting set out to discuss was a review of last local government election and measures required to strengthen the party structure throughout the state.

“It is unfortunate that the newspaper (not The Nation) has been misled by unscrupulous individuals who fabricated the story for whatever advantage they thought they could get from it.

“In the process, the newspaper itself has misled the public.

“We hope in the future, this kind of error will not occur and the newspaper should always try to seek information from the appropriate quarters.”

  • Osun APC greets Akande at 79

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has congratulated former Governor Adebisi Akande on the celebration of his 79th birthday today.

A statement yesterday by the party’s Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy, Kunle Oyatomi, said: “We join families and friends to honour our great leader and use this occasion to also celebrate some of his grand achievements.

“It is to the credit of Papa Akande that APC was nursed until it was given birth to in 2013. We had to depend on his wisdom and political sagacity in putting together parties of different orientations into one cohesive family that we are today.

“Besides, we celebrate his uncommon wisdom, which was not appreciated by some, at the time he was governor, in placing this state in a firm foundation, administratively.

“Also, Papa Akande will be treasured for his statesmanship, which cuts across party lines and has brought him to the forefront of national leadership.

“As Papa turns 79 today, we wish him many more glorious years of selfless service to the state of Osun and the country.

“Many happy returns of this day.”

  • Osun APC: govt’s key role is welfare

Osun APC: govt’s key role is welfare

The Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) has cautioned “mischievous politicians, especially those in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to stop deceiving Osun workers by spreading the false idea that the primary obligation of government is to pay workers’ salaries”.

It said: “This stupid idea is not in the interest of government workers themselves, because it is capable of inciting majority of the people against workers and creating chaos in the society.”

A statement yesterday in Osogbo, the capital, by its Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy, Kunle Oyatomi, noted that “government has enormous responsibilities to the entire population of Osun; and these responsibilities are as important as paying salaries to workers”.

The statement added: “The difference between a failed and irresponsible government and a successful and responsible one is the ability to manage available or limited resources to satisfy the needs of the people from who the government derives its authority and legitimacy to govern.”

APC noted that “it has become necessary to put a stop to the ungodly falsehood circulated by a few impressionable people who the PDP has deceived into believing the senseless idea that government exists only to pay salaries. Nothing could be farther from the truth”.

The party lauded workers’ perseverance and urged them to understand the important position they occupy within the establishment.

It said: “Civil servants are managers of the permanent infrastructure of government, while politicians are the variable executive and legislative aspects that are continually elected by the people to represent and protect their interests in government.

“Government workers are mostly professionals, trained to keep the engine of government running. And together with the politicians, they are constitutionally responsible for creating, providing and maintaining the economic, social and environmental infrastructure to enable continuous activities of the masses that promote justice, peace and prosperity in society.

“Therefore, any political party, like the PDP, which attempts to distract or misdirect the civil servants from this fundamental responsibility is an enemy of the people and the state.

“Such a political party must be rejected and prevented from participating in governance in the State of Osun.”

  • No faction in our party, says Osun APC

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged its members, supporters and friends to disregard what it called the false information the party is breaking into factions.

“There’s no faction in Osun APC,” the party said, adding: “Its leadership is intact and solidly behind the Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola administration.”

In a statement at the weekend by its Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy, Kunle Oyatomi, APC said: “You are either in the APC or you are out; there is no faction in our party.

“We have one chairman: Prince Gboyega Famodun; our secretariat headquarters is on Gbongan-Ibadan Road, in the heart of Osogbo.

“You cannot be out of the party and still claim to be a faction of it.”

The statement noted that “those spreading the lies are veritable losers”.

It added: “Anyone who says otherwise is an agent of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one of those disgruntled elements in the State of Osun, working with merchants of evil to bring death, destruction and anarchy to the state.

“The ugly past is enough lesson for us that when inordinately ambitious people create discord within, the party has a responsibility to unite and move on without the dissidents.

“It’s not in the interest of the people that a party, which has done so much for Osun, should dissipate energy on dissidents. We are focused and united.  Only those who have bought into the sadistic narrative and dangerous scheming of the PDP are thinking otherwise.

“The APC is, therefore, standing together and determined to overcome whatever obstacles the PDP and its agents, wheresoever located, are piling in our way to prevent continuity and progress in the state.

“Our people must not allow the difficulties of the moment, which was created largely by PDP’s misrule at the federal level, to influence their stand for progress.

“They should remember the deaths that the PDP fostered by creating a situation, which allowed flood waters to destroy our cities, causing avoidable loss of lives.

“The PDP is not an alternative to APC in the State of Osun; our people are sensible enough to know it.

“Osun must stand united and crush the PDP and its agents, because all that the party offers is mayhem, ‘kleptocracy’ and revisionism.

“Our party is on course to repeat the feat of 2014, in August 2018.”

  • Osun APC: Aregbesola is the best

Osun APC: Aregbesola is the best

All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has described Governor Rauf Aregbesola as ‘the most consistently people-oriented leader the state has ever known.

The party’s Directorate of Publicity, Research and Strategy, in a statement by its director, Kunle Oyatomi, said: “Every project he had designed,  and decision he had taken (even when critics pilloried him for them), were conceived to improve the quality of life of the people and develop the economy of the state.”

“It takes only a person consumed by hate or one totally misinformed by fake news to viciously criticise the governor’s policies and projects as the case has been since he got into office in 2010.

“One of the most topical of these tragic attempts to undermine Aregbesola and the APC government he leads, is the issue of salary.

“This tragedy, which is  national, has been made to look as if Osun was the only one in default.

‘But the truth of the matter is that of all the states that were affected, Osun has the best plan in the circumstance to manage the crisis.

“Even in that process, his vicious critics gave the impression,  and continue to mislead the public that Aregbesola is only paying half salaries to all workers and has refused to pay pensioners.

‘However, what this calculating and populist governor did was to make a rational deal with labour leaders in the state as to how resources available to the government could be best used to pay salaries and pension

‘The deal is as follows:(1) Workers on levels 1-7 will receive full salaries; (2) Workers from 8 -10 will receive 75 per cent of their salaries; (3) others to get 50 per cent of their salaries.  This template applies to pensioners as well.

‘And since this deal was made in 2015, this template has been followed till today. As with workers, so it is with pensioners.”

The party went on: “Fraudulent politicians  have been all over town spreading the misleading impression that Aregbesola is paying all workers in the state half salaries, owing pensioners and had diverted the second tranche of the Paris Club funds meant for salaries and pension.

“This falsehood is responsible for misleading some pensioners, who allow themselves to become pawns in the hands of evil opposition politicians,  to disturb the peace of Osun recently.

“In spite of all the mischief and false information,  the fact remains that no governor yet in the State of Osun can be adjudged to have done better than Ogbeni Aregbesola in developing the state.

“If the satanists in politics would not acknowledge it, and shortsighted people would deny it, history will, however, acclaim it because the facts are there to prove it.

“But more importantly,  it is after Aregbesola would have left the stage that the people for whom he has worked so hard will come to fully realise how much this vilified populist leader had done for Osun and that regrettably is when it will truly matter.

“History will indeed vindicate Ogbeni Aregbesola.”

  • Osun APC, Assembly mourn

    Osun APC, Assembly mourn

THE Osun State All Progressives Congress and House of Assemblyyesterday mourned the senator.

In a statement by its spokesperson, Kunle Oyatomi, the APC said: “Our party is in great sadness and shock because this is a monstrous blow to the APC, which will be virtually impossible to overcome in the short run.

“To imagine that the first civilian governor of the state and two term senator of the National Assembly, who was still vibrantly active until Saturday night, has suddenly died is the mother of all shocks that anyone can get, and it hurts beyond measure.

“We are momentarily shaken and short of words to respond to this tragic event appropriately,  except to advise supporters, friends and family to summon courage, (however hard it may be), to pray for and  mourn this fallen hero of Nigerian politics in general and Osun State in particular.”

The APC, therefore, called on Osun State residents, irrespective of their political affiliations, to show solidarity and empathise with the deceased family and the city of Ede, where Adeleke was an icon.

Also, the House of Assembly described Adeleke’s death as “a shock and great loss”.

In a statement by the Chairman, House Committee on Information and Strategy, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, the assembly said the death was a great loss to the people of Ede, Osun West Senatorial District, Osun State, the Senate and Nigeria.

It said the death of the federal lawmaker had robbed the state of one of its grassroots and experienced politicians as well as a philanthropist, who entrenched himself in the quest for good governance.

Describing the late Adeleke as a politician of repute, whose existence was significant to the state’s democratic tenet, the statement noted that the role he played as the first Osun State executive governor could never be over-emphasised.

  • Tinubu’s achievements epic, says Osun APC

Tinubu’s achievements epic, says Osun APC

OSUN State All Progressives Congress (APC) has congratulated the party’s national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his remarkable achievements since he became involved in Nigeria’s politics.

The party spoke in a statement by its Director of Publicity, Kunle Oyatomi, in Osogbo yesterday on the 65th birthday anniversary of Tinubu.

The statement reads: “Whether you like or hate Tinubu or you are his ardent admirer or critic, nobody can remove from the fact that in the last 17 years (and counting), the APC national leader has earned a place in history as one of the most spectacular politicians, who effected monumental democratic change in the country’s political evolution.

“In the last two decades, your (Tinubu’s) deft political strategies have not only warded off political crimes against the Yoruba nation by those who sought and still seek to humiliate and subjugate us, you have also steered the course of events in Nigeria to make what was thought impossible happen.

“You piloted the APC into an epic electoral battle, which, for the first time in Nigeria’s political history, led to the defeat of a government in power at the Federal establishment.

“That by itself is a signature achievement – the first of its kind in Nigeria – and a milestone in our democratic as well as electoral evolution. It is an uncommon feat.”

It added: “At 65, Asiwaju is comparatively still young and our prayer is that Allah should grant the Leader good health to continue in his good work, most of which is impacting positively on people’s lives.

“May Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s days, months and years bring further progress, stronger and greater democracy to Nigeria in general and Yoruba land in particular.

“The APC and the people of Osun stand firmly behind the leader and support his lieutenant and governor of the state, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola, who like the Jagaban of Borgu, has distinguished himself as the greatest achiever Osun has ever had since the state was created over 25 years ago.

“May Asiwaju’s star shine ever more brightly. Happy Birthday!”

  • Think again, Osun APC tells critics

Think again, Osun APC tells critics

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has called on critics of the state’s education reforms to “think again”.
In a statement yesterday in Osogbo by Director of Publicity, Kunle Oyatomi, the party said “no amount of reckless criticism can diminish educational development”.
The APC said: “If critics and political opponents act blind and ignorant, intelligent and responsible people have continued to appreciate Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s achievements in that regard.
“The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC), through its head of the Nigeria National Office, Olutishe Adenipekun, endorsed the project as the best in Nigeria.
“Osun people should therefore stand tall over these achievements. They should not allow selfish politicians, and misdirected interest groups to diminish their pride through false claims.”

  •  Osun APC advises unemployed youths on job opportunity

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has called on unemployed youths in the state to make use of job opportunity created for them by the state government.

In a statement by its Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy, Barr. Kunle Oyatomi, the party said the Rauf Aregbesola administration was “determined to assist in whatever way possible to reduce unemployment of youths in the state despite the difficult economic circumstance in the country.”

The party also advised unemployed youths in each local government to visit, register and submit their credentials in the newly created ‘Osun Job Centres’ that are being opened all over the state.

The party said: “This service will be provided free of charge. The job centre initiative marks the second phase of the government’s gainful employment policy that started in 2011 with the Osun Youths Empowerment Scheme (OYES) and other related policies.

“These policies have succeeded in providing employment to over 40, 000 young men and women as well as empowered scores of others to start up small business enterprises. But with this second phase initiative, Governor Rauf Aregbesola is demonstrating commitment to his developmental programme, notwithstanding that the current economic downturn continues to bite.”

It urged the prospective job seekers to maximise the service rendered by the centre, especially the advantage it affords them to look for jobs from their local government areas instead of roaming the streets.
