    2Baba, Waje, Dakolo, Patoranking to coach The Voice Nigeria contestants

    As preparations for the maiden edition of the much anticipated The Voice Nigeria show reach fever pitch, some leading Nigerian vocalists including 2Baba Idibia, Waje, Timi Dakolo and Patoranking were on Tuesday unveiled by organisers as coaches to the contestants ahead of the show which will begin airing in April.

    The unveiling of the coaches which took place at The George Hotel, Ikoyi, Lagos, was on the heels of the talent auditions in Calabar, Port Harcourt, Abuja and Lagos.

    Sponsored by Airtel Nigeria, The Voice franchise, since its original launch in 2010, has won audiences in countries like the U.S., Australia, South Africa and the UK, where other renowned artistes have occupied the show’s famous red chairs as coaches. The Voice Nigeria, according to organisers, employs the same format including the panel of four coaches who critique the contestants’ performances. The coaches guide their teams of selected artistes through the remainder of the season whilst also competing to ensure that their act wins the competition.

    “It’s an exciting time for us at M-Net,” says the Director, M-Net West Africa, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu said. “The Voice is an internationally renowned franchise and has consistently provided exciting television content whilst giving great opportunities to talented individuals to showcase their talent to the world. The Nigerian adaptation will be no different and our viewers can expect the best television entertainment even as we wait to discover the next generation of talented singers,” she added.

    Commenting on the unveiling of coaches, Mr. Ahmad Mokhles, the Chief Commercial Officer of Airtel Nigeria noted that Airtel is passionate about creating platforms that will delight, excite, entertain and engage talented youth as well as telecoms consumers across the country.

    According to him, “The Voice Nigeria demonstrates Airtel’s commitment to its vision of connecting Nigerians to their dreams. We are also pleased by the fact that the majority of the coaches are not just icons in their respective music genres but also members of the Airtel family, underscoring our intense interest and support for the entertainment and creative industry.”

    Patoranking and Dj Xclusive to headline Kiza Dubai New Year Concert

    Dubai’s first authentic fine dining Nigerian owned/African restaurant and lounge, Kiza, has announced Patoranking and Dj-Xclusive as special celebrities that will be headlining its New Year concert, taking place at its flagship venue located at Emirates Financial Towers, DIFC..

    Since its inception in 2012, Kiza has hosted African celebrities such as  D’banj, 2Face Idibia, P-square, Wizkid, Ice Prince, Davido, Mi Casa, Sauti Sol, Redsan, Freshly ground, to mention a few.

    The new Kiza venue which was launched in October 2015, is a modern affair which boasts of a lounge, stage, LED screen and VIP seating areas.

    Seating up to 154 people, Kiza, which is popular among Africans, is the perfect set up for events such as music shows, spoken word events, concerts and movie premieres. It also caters for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and brand launches. In addition, the restaurant serves traditional dishes from the four regions of the continent.

    Regarding entertainment, Kiza, in partnership with Nigeria’s “Industry Nite” music event hosts a weekly showcase of top African musicians. And recently, KIZA partnered with comedian BasketMouth to begin the monthly Lords of the Ribs comedy event. The first edition was held on December 19, 2015 and headlined by Ugandan comic Anne Kansiime.

    The KIZA resident DJ performs every night from 11pm while the KIZA live band is on between 7pm and 11pm from Wednesday to Saturday.

    One of the factors that determine the success of an artiste is his ability to get brand endorsement. So, it came as news to many when Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie, better known as Patoranking, was named as one of the brand ambassadors of Airtel.

    But when Sky Vodka branded him as their ambassador, many affirmed that his time has come. The artiste was recently unveiled at the office of Luxury Jeweler, Malivelihood as their first ambassador.

    To add another feather to his cap, Patoranking has been named as one of the artistes who will be performing at the Born 2 Win concert, holding at Bassline, Johannesbourg, South Africa come November 7.

    Patoranking started his musical career doing underground collaborations with artistes such as XProject, Konga, Slam and Reggie Rockstone. He signed a record deal with K-Solo’s Igberaga Records in 2010, releasing Up in D Club under the outfit.

    Patoranking became a protégé of Dem Mama Record’s honcho, Timaya, after collaborating with him on his song, Alubarika. In February 2014, he signed a record deal with Foston Musik and released Girlie O, a single that put him in the limelight. On February 9, Patoranking announced via Instagram that he signed a distribution deal with VP Records.

    Malivelihood is owned by a Michael Awujola who has racked up popularity over the past few years for his unique works and designs, offers quality luxury products like gold phones, iPads, classic luxury goods which include clothing, and accessories.

    MTV Base Top 10: Patoranking displaces Korede from #2 spot

    Patoranking’s hit single, My Woman, My Everything has knocked off Korede Bello’s Godwin from the number two spot of the MTV Base Official Naija Top 10 music chart.

    The video of the Foston music act’s single which features Black Diamond’s singer, Wande Coal was shot by UK-based director, Moe Musa.

    Godwin is now on the number three spot followed by other amazing videos such as Runtown’s Banger, Reekado Bank’s Katapot and Seyi Shay’s Right Now which made its debut on the chart last week.

    Meanwhile, Olamide’s Shakiti Bobo video has remained on the number one spot for the sixth week running. Other hit videos on the chart are Timaya’s So More, Fans Mi from Davido, Ashimapeyin by Wande Coal and debut entry, Do Something by Chocolate City signee, Koker.

    This week’s edition also featured singer, Bigiano who delivered a fantastic freestyle session before giving away autographed CDs and poster,

    Chacha Eke, Patoranking, others storm Ebonyi today

    Preparations are in top gear by the Ebonyi state government to host over 50 indigenous stars from the state who are making waves in the entertainment industries.

    The event which holds today is to showcase to the world, the hidden potentials of the state, using entertainment industry as the driving force and indigenes that have made the state proud in the industry.

    Briefing reporters in Abakaliki, the chairman, Organising Committee, Dr Jerry Uhuo noted that prominent among the artistes are top Nollywood actress, Cha Cha Eke, and dancehall star, Patorankin, among others.

    He noted that Ebonyi has great and hidden potentials which if harnessed could boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state and end over dependence on the crude oil, the major source of revenue in Nigeria.

    Uhuo said: “if we can harness the kind of potentials we have, we wouldn’t have ordinarily been talking about crude oil. What we have is enough to give Ebonyi what it needed to develop”.

    “We took time as committee members to tour over 40 tourist centers in Ebonyi and we found out that we have enough potential to develop the state.

    “We specifically visited Amancho Cave; it is about six kilometers under the ground and right inside the cave, it has a place where you can host over 4000 persons for an occasion and we need to develop and showcase such places to the world.

    “The committee felt that the only way we can get the world to know what we have is to involve those in the entertainment industry.  We felt that it is important for us to bring home so many of these stars from Ebonyi so that they can see the potentials we have”.

    “A lot of those big names in music industry are from Ebonyi state. In fact,in the marketing sector of music industry, Ebonyi state has the highest and 90 percent of the marketers are from Ebonyi. But they do not identify with the state because they felt the state did not identify with them and that is why we felt we could do something”.

    Uhuo disclosed that they have formed a union called ‘United Ebonyi Artistes, of which all artistes from the state would be registered.

    He said that the platform would afford the upcoming artistes the opportunity to develop their talents.

    He noted that entertainment industry was capable of generating five hundred million Naira quarterly to the state coffers, thereby cushioning the effect of over dependence on Federal Government allocation.

    Patois musician, Patoranking, recently nominated for the 2015 Best New Act at the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) is surely desirous of winning as he canvassed for votes from his fans on Thursday.

    After retweeting a poster  urging fans to vote for Patoranking, the artiste, whose latest jam, My Woman, My Everything, featuring Wande Coal, later tweeted the link to vote on the MAMA’s website, mama.mtv.com/votin.

    Patoranking, who describes himself ast the ‘next big thing after Bob Marley’ on his Twitter account, is in contention for the award with Anna Joyce (Angola), Cassper Nyovest (South Africa), Duncan (South Africa) and Stonebwoy (Ghana).

    MAMA which holds in Kwazulu Naaatal, South Africa on Saturday, July 18, is a major event that rewards African entertainment personalities.

    Fans have until Wednesday, July 15 to vote for their favourite nominees. They can vote 20 times per category per day.

    Telecommunication giant, Airtel Nigeria, last Thursday unveiled Hip-hop icon, 2Face Idibia; Rap sensation, Phyno; Dancehall artiste, Patoranking; fast-rising comedian, Akpororo and renowned On-Air-Personality, IK Osakioduwa as brand ambassadors.

    The celebrities were presented to the public at a star-studded event tagged ‘The Icon”. The event held at the prestigious MUSON centre, Onikan, Lagos.

    While addressing the gathering, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Nigeria, Mr. Segun Ogunsanya, stated that the new Airtel brand ambassadors were selected due to their fine image, sound characters and achievements in their various fields.

    He said: “We have carefully selected ambassadors who embody the values, character and overall image inherent to the Airtel brand, therefore making them a perfect fit for further endearing Airtel to millions of Nigerians whilst strengthening the relationship we have with our customers.”

    Ogunsanya also noted that the appointment of enterprising and talented Nigerians as brand ambassadors is in line with Airtel’s commitment to delivering value and rewarding excellence.

    He noted that all the ambassadors have recorded monumental successes in their respective fields. 2Face Idibia is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most popular musicians and has received numerous awards, including the Headies, KORA, MOBO, Channel O Music Awards and MAMAs. He is also engaged in a number of CSR activities as an artiste.

    IK Osakioduwa, an accomplished Presenter is a six-time host of the celebrated reality TV show, Big Brother Africa and has been rated among the top three most influential young people in Nigeria. He was also recognised by the Future Awards as the ‘Best On-Air Personality.’

    Patoranking, the reggae dancehall singer won the coveted Next Rated Award at the 2014 Headies, while just recently, he was named the Best African Act at the 2015 Ghana Music Awards.

    Fast-rising comedian, Akpororo, is regarded as someone with very strong work ethic and his passion for comedy has earned him so many accolades. He also sponsors a football competition as a way of supporting talented youths in his community.

    Phyno, is known for rapping in Igbo language, and has also earned several awards including the Headies, for Best Collaboration in 2013 and Best Rap Single in 2014.

    As the tour of the award-winning MTV series, Shuga, reaches the University of Lagos, top notch entertainers such as Ice Prince, Patoranking, DJ Neptune and DJ Humility are set to storm the campus.

    The show will begin by 4pm on Saturday, May 16, at the Indoor Sports Complex.

    Hosted by VJ Ehiz and Sharon Ezeamaka, the event also affords attendees the opportunity to interact with stars from the series such as Emmanuel Ikubese (Femi), Timini Egbuson (Toby) and Sharon Ezeamaka (Princess).

    Apart from entertainment, the tour plans for young people to know their HIV status as confidential HIV testing and counseling will be available free of charge at the venue.

    Shuga is an MTV Base production targeted at educating young persons on the importance of practicing safe sex at all times.

    Fuji star, Pasuma, keeps upping the ante with every new song he drops. This time, the Kwara State born singe has teamed up with reggae/dancehall act Patoranking on a new song titled Our Lagos. The song is produced by award winning producer, Puffy Tee and mixed/mastered by Sheyman.

    In recent times, Pasuma, who is the CEO of Wasbar records, has consistently dropped new pop singles in a quest to drop a full pop album before the year runs out. He currently has songs like Abo, Omo Olope, O ti Clear, Ife featuring pop diva Tiwa Savage, and Ogede ti pon which is still enjoying massive airplay on radio and TV.

    “Music is a universal language, and my team works very hard to make sure we put out the best we can. Working with Patoranking was great, he’s a great kid and he actually killed the song. We would drop a couple more singles before we finally drop the album,” Pasuma stated.

    MTV Base Artiste Of The Month, Patrick Okorie, aka Patoranking, owes his life to music. The sought-after reggae star, while chatting with journalists during the week, noted that not only has music given him fame and fortune, the talent has also rescued him from imminent doom.

    Music, he said, has saved him from becoming a criminal.

    “The slum is not a place that gives many options. There, it was either you make it the right way or the crime way but I chose music and it has worked for me,” he said at a parley organised by MTV Base.

    While thanking the music channel for making him the Artiste of the Month, he recounted that it also helped him secure the partnership deal with international reggae music label, VP Records, a feat he described as one of the high points of his musical career.

    “As many of you know, VP Records is one of the biggest record labels in New York so, being signed under that label is a big deal for me, which is why I am grateful to MTV Base,” he said.

    He said plans are ongoing for the release of his debut album later this year, and relayed his wish to feature International reggae artistes like Beenie man and Sean Paul in the works.

    Patoranking, 25, came to limelight in 2013, following his hit single with Timaya, Alubarika. He has since gone ahead to release other popular tracks including Girlie O, featuring Tiwa Savage, which was listed on the MTV Base Official Naija Top 10 Hottest Videos Of The Year. The artiste also featured in Seyi Shay’s hit song Murda.
