    • ’No discrepancy in Obi’s certificates’

The National Publicity Secretary of the Lamidi Apapa-led faction of the Labour Party (LP), Abayomi Arabambi, has alleged a discrepancy in the credentials of the party’s presidential candidate in this year’s election, Mr. Peter Obi.

Arabambi made the allegation during an interview on Africa Independent Television (AIT), monitored by The Nation, while reacting to Obi’s media briefing on the controversy over President Bola Tinubu’s Chicago State University (CSU) certificate controversy.

He said: “I was part of the people who did screening for him. In the Form EC9 we gave him, he wrote that he attended the University of Nigeria Nsukka and he wrote that he finished his national youth service. But unfortunately, in the final submission of the form, he only submitted his school certificate.”

“So, something is fishy. I want to say the name of the school sent for mobilisation was not what was written on his NYSC certificate, and he knows that.

“This destination that he is going, I don’t know what he wants to achieve. We have before the Supreme Court his own petition and the pleadings are not there. You are now calling out someone to come and reveal his true identity. For us, we don’t know the true identity of Peter Obi, even in the Labour Party, because everything was shrouded in secrecy at that time between him and Abure in Asaba…”

Also, the National Publicity Secretary of the LP faction, led by Julius Abure, Mr. Obiora Ifoh, has dismissed claims that Obi has discrepancies in his certificates.

In a statement yesterday, Obiora said: “Arabambi is obviously doing the bidding of his paymasters who are desperate to destroy our party and distract Nigerians from further querying the less than transparent credentials of President Bola Tinubu.

“He should try something else. Our candidate, Peter Gregory Obi, is a known figure whose parentage, birth, schools attended and record of public service, has never been in dispute.

“Like our candidate himself said publicly yesterday, some of his mates at the University of Nigeria Nsukka are alive…”

  • PO as metaphor

    PO as metaphor

Peter Obi is supremely proud of his intitials — PO — and his Obidients put it to devastating, if self-serving, use in the heat of electioneering.

“A new Nigeria is POssible”, went one of the Obidients’ glorious puns, suggesting that “Yes Daddy” Peter Obi, by his glorious initials alone, would snap his fingers and a dirty Nigeria would become holy!

Still, PO in Yoruba (pronounced as “Kpo”), means chamber pot.  No matter how the chamber pot glistens, its essence is smell and rot.

That is fair and legitimate metaphor for Obi’s politics, though he preens it’s otherwise.

The latest proof was his October 11 press conference, when he launched a voyage for President Bola Tinubu’s “identity”, just as Atiku Abubakar, Obi’s co-Don Quixote, tilting at the windmills, launched a voyage to “find” Tinubu’s Chicago State University (CSU) certificate that never was lost.

But just as the CSU registrar shut down Atiku’s “forgery” hallucination, condemning the old man to seek salvation in a “world press conference”, from which he came off as extremely bitter and irreparably damaged, a BBC report, which also dismissed any Tinubu CSU “forgery”, shut Obi up.

Fair but thunderous slap for a dangerous and unrepentant demagogue!  Some clearly have ears but they cannot hear!

Meanwhile, the Obi press conference was another u-turn for a man that, from his public utterances, believes in the supremacy of spin.  On impulse, he shunned bitter Atiku’s invite to join a nude public dance, to bitter music of shame and desperation.

But the core rot in Obi — the stark chichidodo, that Ghana bird that hates faeces but savours maggots! — couldn’t really resist that dance of shame.  Pronto, he called his own press conference!

Meanwhile, like the human chichidodo, feigning sainthood but busy savouring the sweet rot to come from Atiku’s America muck-raking, had gone to run his mouth on Arise TV over “forgeries”, all snide and hollow excitement.

But when the muck nailed nobody but Atiku himself, a stunned Obi fell into a funereal quiet, distanced himself from Atiku and postured he was at the Supreme Court for “justice”.  When he jerked awake from that sweet dream, it was to stage a poor photocopy of Atiku’s bitter original.

You, of course, expect nothing different from a man that hit the polity with China stats (euphemism for blatant lies to excite and confound the ignorant), wept bitterly over an election he clearly lost, and plays delusional Pope after a brazen conversion of  Anambra state money into capital for Obi’s family business, from sacred “savings”!

No doubt, this PO is “Kpo”, the chamber pot.  No matter how it pretends to glisten, it’s stench is penetrating.  PO is a rotten past — as Atiku — posing as a decent future.

Release your academic records, group gives Atiku, Obi seven-day ultimatum

A political group, Team Beta Naija, has given both Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi a seven-day deadline to release their academic records or face legal action to compel the disclosure.

The group emphasized that Atiku should concentrate on presenting evidence of his election victory instead of chasing shadows over the transcript and academic records of President Bola Tinubu.

It also criticized Atiku for diverting attention and resources toward an issue that holds no uncertainty.

The director-general of the group, Etinosa Igiebor, in a statement issued in Akure, said it was laughable that individuals with questionable track records both in public service and private practice were on the chase of President Tinubu, whose academic, administrative prowess, and leadership capacity have been proven both locally and internationally.

Igiebor stated that the group has written privately to both Atiku and Obi, to release their academic credentials to the public but that there was no response from either party.

He said: “We are hereby issuing another public call with a Seven (7) day ultimatum for compliance. Failure to do so will see us asking our lawyers, who are waiting in the wings, to institute a case against them in a court of competent jurisdiction to demand the release of the academic records of both the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his Labour Party candidate, Mr Peter Obi.

“The case before the Supreme Court is a logical one and not an emotional affair. If they want to win, they must prove beyond every reasonable doubt. Anything aside from logic will amount to a waste of time.

“We urge Nigerians to continue their support for the President’s administration. We are mindful of the current challenges, and we are quite hopeful that the tide will change, and the country will blossom again.”

  • Bayelsa guber: Peter Obi, Abure berate PDP govt, drum support for LP’s candidate

Bayelsa guber: Peter Obi, Abure berate PDP govt, drum support for LP’s candidate

The Labour Party (LP)’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, along with the national chairman of the party, Julius Abure, and the LP’s governorship flagbearer in Bayelsa state, Udengs Eradiri, expressed concern over the high levels of poverty and underdevelopment in the state during the official inauguration of the party’s state secretariat on Tuesday, September 19.

They argued that Bayelsa’s core issue lay in leadership, emphasizing the need for purposeful, result-oriented, innovative, people-centric, honest, informed, bold, and brave leadership to effect positive change.

Obi, alongside LP’s national chairman Abure and other prominent party members, made a significant entry into the state through the Port Harcourt International Airport as they were warmly received by numerous party stalwarts and supporters at Mbiama, the border of Bayelsa and Rivers states.

Lamenting the widespread poverty in the oil-rich Bayelsa State, Obi said it was sad, unfortunate and unthinkable that a state where oil was first struck in commercial quantity about 67 years ago still remained underdeveloped and poor.

He stated: “That you can come to this state and still see poverty is unfortunate and sad. This is a state where we discovered our first oil over 67 years ago and it is worrisome that after such a long time, you cannot drive on a good road to Bayelsa.

“Bayelsa is not supposed to be among the list of poor states for what God endowed them with. It is caused by leadership and that’s what we are trying to change. Our candidate has told you other parties will give you money but we are not in politics of sharing money, we don’t have any money to share. Those who are giving you money are giving you, your own money to share, we didn’t steal anything so we can’t give anything. When they give you money, take it but vote your conscience. Labour Party is the party to vote for in order to emancipate you from poverty and underdevelopment.

“We want to reduce the poverty in Bayelsa and the only way we can do that is by using the resources of this state to move the country from consumption to production; it is from production that you will get jobs. I listened to him (Udengs Eradiri) talk about microcredit, and supporting small businesses. That is actually the future of the world the future of Nigeria and the future of young people.

“We have unveiled this man (Eradiri). All we want is for you to support him, you can go and verify all that he said. He has paid his dues not just in Bayelsa but in the region. It is time we worked with wealth creators, not wealth sharers and from what he said he is a wealth creator. He is the perfect man for the job of changing the sad narrative of Bayelsa State and I enjoin all Bayelsans to vote for him.”

Also speaking, the standard bearer for the LP, Udengs Eradiri, an engineer; said he would liberate Bayelsa from the shackles of poverty and underdevelopment if elected on November 11, 2023.

He said that Bayelsa is greatly endowed with several natural tourism sites that could be harnessed to enhance the economic prosperity of the state yet successive administrations in the state had done little or nothing to change the narrative.

Eradiri, a former two-time Commissioner and former President of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, stated: “Unfortunately, despite the abundant wealth and blessings of God upon Bayelsa State, the state is up till date yet to translate to prosperity for Bayelsans.

“Rather, Bayelsa State is in squalid condition replete with abject poverty, abysmal underdevelopment, infrastructural deficit and gross darkness.

“Without any fear of contradiction, the problem of Bayelsa State is purely that of leadership. Bayelsa state needs a purposeful, result-oriented, ingenious, people-oriented, honest, updated, bold and courageous leadership.”

Peter Obi would have visited MoBhad’s family if he died before election – Reno Omokri

Reno Omokri, a former media aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, has claimed that Peter Obi, the presidential flag bearer of the Labour Party in the February 2023 election, would have visited the family of late singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba aka MohBad, if there was an upcoming election.

The singer died on Tuesday, September 12, after reportedly receiving treatments for an ear infection.

The Nation reports that the singer was buried in Ikorodu, Lagos on Wednesday.

Omokri, who stated this via a post on X former Twitter on Monday night, said Obi would have paid Mohbad’s family a visit if the singer had died before the presidential election.

He posted: “Sadly, the truth is that if this were before the election, Peter Obi would have visited Mohbad’s family by now.

“He would have posted about it. He may even have shed some crocodile tears and perhaps donated some money.

“But the election is over. And Mohbad is not from a certain part of Nigeria. He is not a member of the Labour Party or an Obidient. So, there is no need for Peter Obi to even pretend that he cares!”

  • Peter Obi strange song on the judiciary

Peter Obi strange song on the judiciary

    • By Ademola ‘Bablow’ Babalola

Sir: One of the Nigerian politicians whose trust in the judiciary ought to have been well grounded is the candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi. But it’s unfortunate that whenever the verdicts of court favour not many Nigerian politicians, their usual next action is levelling false accusations against the judiciary.

Three times since Obi’s journey into politics started, he had benefited from the integrity and uprightness of the judiciary more than any politician in Nigeria. He had been favoured by the judiciary more than anyone who had ever sought redress in courts.

In 2003 when Obi contested for gubernatorial seat in Anambra State, he lost the election to Dr Chris Ngige of People Democratic Party (PDP) in what turned to be a controversial election. Obi pursued remedy in the court and won his mandate back in Appeal Court.

In November 2006, eight months after he was sworn in as Anambra State governor, that is, in March 2006, Obi was impeached by the state legislature. His removal paved the way for his deputy, Dame Virginia Etiaba, to become the first female governor in Nigeria. Being a believer of the judgements of the judiciary, Obi approached the court again. And against all odds, based on the facts presented in court, he got another favourable judgement from the judiciary, and returned the second time.

As if the judiciary was established for the benefit of Obi alone, another controversy ensued on whether or not gubernatorial election ought to be conducted in Anambra State in May 29, 2007 like in others states, and whether or not the governor, Obi, had the constitutional right to spend four years after Ngige had already spent almost three years of the tenure before another election could be conducted in the state. And without waiting for the issue to be resolved, the INEC went ahead to conduct the gubernatorial election, which ushered in Andy Uba of the PDP into office.

Like he had done twice, Obi again headed to court. He had the conviction that that was the only place he could get justice to claim his mandate back. And being an independent arm of government, the judiciary gave its judgement based on the genuine evidences presented before it by Obi and his party, APGA. The 2007 Anambra gubernatorial election was declared null and void, and Obi was asked by the court to resume office and continue his tenure till March 2010 when another election was due to be conducted. Obi won again in 2010, and this allowed him to govern Anambra state for eight years until he relinquished power to his successor, Willie Obiano, another candidate of APGA.

Prior to the judgement, on Wednesday September 6, that validated the electoral victory of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, there were, allegedly, attacks on the integrity of the judiciary, most especially from Labour Party and its candidate including their supporters. Of course the unfounded imagination and doubts towards the judiciary were obviously born out of sentiment. And this prompted many to wonder why someone who had, on three occasions, even in the midst of power from above, been favoured through the rectitude and honourableness of the judiciary was sceptical about the same institution’s fairness and equity.

But one thing the disgruntled fail to understand is that the judiciary is blind to sentiment. It dispenses judgement on the grounds of genuine facts and evidences presented to defend one’s petition or petitions. The legal maxim: “Ei incumbit probatio qui dicit, non qui negat.” (The burden of proof lies on him who alleges, not on him who denies).

The judiciary that favoured Peter Obi three times many years ago when he had evidences to back his cases was the same judiciary that upheld Tinubu’s electoral victory. Nothing is wrong with the judiciary or the judges. They only did what they were sworn to do. Had Obi and his party genuine proofs and evidences to establish their case beyond reasonable doubt, he would have had it the way he had it long ago.

PEPC judgement: Peter Obi heads to Supreme Court

Mr.  Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) says he rejected the Presidential Elections Petition Court judgement delivered on the outcome of February 25, 2023.

Obi spoke during a news conference at his  Onitsha residence on Thursday.

He acknowledged that though the PEPC’s adhered to the statutory time frames, but he totally disagree with the judgement’s rationale and final conclusion.

“I express respect for the Court’s views and rulings but openly disagree with the judgment’s rationale and final conclusions,” he said.

Obi announced his intention, in his capacity as a presidential candidate and on behalf of the Labour Party, to immediately challenge this judgment through the appellate process.

According to him, the PEPC is not the ultimate authority in this matter, emphasizing that the responsibility now rests with the Supreme Court, which he expressed confidence in.

Obi urged Nigerians to maintain their focus, steadfastness, and commitment to peaceful processes while emphasizing the importance of adhering to the rule of law.

He made it clear that the matter has not yet reached its logical conclusion.

Obi hinted that his legal team has already received firm instructions to file an appeal against the PEPC’s decision.

He expressed unwavering determination in his pursuit of justice, not only for himself but also for the multitude of supporters across the nation whose electoral mandate he said was unjustly thwarted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Obi underscored the pivotal role of solid national institutions and the public’s confidence in them for a thriving democracy.

He pointed out that electoral litigations could be significantly reduced if INEC discharged its statutory functions transparently and fairly.

Obi extended his gratitude to every Nigerian who had supported their cause and the campaign for a New Nigeria built on principles of fairness, equity, justice, the rule of law, peace, prosperity, inclusiveness, sustainable growth, and development.

He  thanked his legal team, the Labour Party, the Obidient Family, and all those who steadfastly attended the court proceedings.

Peter Obi, others inspire youths at Owerri Business Week

Presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, and a host of other business leaders gathered in Owerri, Imo State capital, at the weekend for the Owerri Business Week Conference.

The conference, organised by Bedrock Initiative, a youth-driven initiative aimed at inspiring young and indigenous entrepreneurs to do better in terms of business development, was an opportunity for over 3,000 young people to interact with and learn from these high-flying business leaders.

Leading the conversation, Obi, a successful businessman, while advising business owners to seek ways to improve their business, emphasised the need for businesses to constantly create value.

“Do your business in what you know, not because people are making money from it,” he said.

Speaking on the theme “Build to last”, the former Anambra Governor highlighted the place of leadership in building a successful business.

According to him, character, attitude, behaviour, tolerance, patience, understanding, and constant learning are some of the qualities a leader must possess.

“The greatest job of a leader is to learn. The job of a leader is to listen. People fail because they don’t listen,” Obi said.

He said Nigeria has all it takes to be a great nation but bad leadership, corruption and poor policy implementation had been the greatest impediments to the nation’s progress. He lamented that corruption kills entrepreneurship, professionalism and hard work, insisting that any society where people in government are richer than those in business is finished.

“Our leaders have continued to talk about our problems yet they have not found solution to the problems,” he said, adding that he was able to record great success within a short period of time as a Governor because of his willingness to learn from others.

Obi commended the Founder/Convener of Bedrock Initiative,  Mr Ikenna Okechukwu, and assured the group of his continued support.

He urged the youths to remain steadfast and be ready to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the nation.

The Managing Director/CEO of Pamtech, Engr. Chidomere Ndubuisi, said a thriving business operates on three fundamental elements – Departments (Body), Customer Service (Soul) and Organizational Culture (Spirit).

According to Ndubuisi, customer service provides emotional connections to customers and team members, ensuring loyalty and satisfaction.

He also emphasized the need for every entrepreneur to have a mentor, who would guide him on best ways to get things right and achieve desired growth in business.

The Divisional Head of Business Growth and Transaction Banking at Sterling Bank, Mr Obinna Ukachukwu, shared valuable insights on how to build credibility that helps one build a business that could last.

“For one to build a lasting business, you must have a story to learn from,” Ukachukwu said.

Also speaking at the event, Labour Party governorship candidate in the November 2023 election in Imo State, Senator Athan Achonu, shared from his wealth of experience as a businessman with diverse experience.

Achonu said the Owerri Business Conference was in sync with the vision of ‘Aku Ruo Ulo’ as it was all about business development and investments in the state.

“I am for anything investment, development, and youth inclusivity, especially in small business development which is a key aspect of our agenda for Imo State towards curbing the current unemployment levels,” Achonu said.

“This is achievable with smart business sense, excellence in leadership and unrelenting purpose to ensure enhanced ease of doing business in addition to projects that will help excite the youthful business hubs around the state.

“Such projects in our plan for Imo State include – a Creativity Portal that aggregates all the creative businesses (Creative Arts, entertainment, music, etc); Youth Creativity Hubs and Technology Parks in the three Senatorial Zones,” he said.

Other prominent guests at the conference included Mr Ugochukwu Omeogu, Amb Dr George Smart Obinna, Ken Onyeali Ikpe, Dr. Sam Amadi, etc.

Peter Obi’s PCC Bayelsa coordinator dumps LP for PDP

Ahead of the November 11 governorship election in Bayelsa state, former State coordinator of Peter Obi Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Comrade Alagoa Morris, has dumped the Labour Party (LP) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Morris, an environmental rights activist and Environmental Right Action and Friends of the Earth Nigeria (ERA/FoEN), made the shocking defection on Wednesday, August 30, and pitched a tent with the incumbent Governor Douye Diri, the candidate of the PDP.

The activist, who worked for the presidential ambition of Peter Obi, said he has abandoned the LP candidate in the state, Udengs Eradiri for Governor Douye Diri.

According to Morris, Governor Diri has done so many good things that are not even in the public domain and needs to be totally supported to get re-elected to continue in his good work.

Morris said: “I decided to support the incumbent governor because he is the best among the major contenders. Looking at the available candidates on the ground for the November 11 election, Diri is the only one who should be supported.

“I was not a member of the Labour Party before they appointed me the state coordinator and that job has been completed since, so life goes on.

“I was with Governor Douye Diri yesterday and looking at the candidates that are available, I believe he is the one that we need to support. This is because when anybody comes in now, what they will tell us is that they meet an empty treasury. Therefore, this one that is already working with development partners and other stakeholders, should be allowed to continue.

“Diri has done a lot of things that are not in the public domain and even those that are in the public domain he cannot be perfect but I think he is trying, so we have to support him to continue.”
