Ajiboye hails unity in Plateau United

Plateau United’s goalkeeper, Dele Ajiboye believes that unity among the players, coaches and management is the major reason the Peace Boys are riding high at the top of the league table this season.

Despite stumbling to El Kanemi Warriors last Sunday, the Jos side are still on top of the league table with 48 points from 27 games and the former Nigeria youth international is eyeing the NPFL diadem..

“I still believe we still have the league title to ourselves and I don’t think this setback should demoralize us in any way,” Ajiboye told Goal.

“We should have taken at least a point out of the encounter but it is now history. I believe the unity in this Plateau United team is awesome and worth commenting on.

“All the players are working together to achieve the same goal while the coaches and the management members too are striving not to be distracted. It is this important factor that is the reason we are on top of the league.”

MFM FC striker, Stephen Odey has wheeled away from his other contestants in the race for the NPFL gong for the highest scorer in the premier league after he struck a brace in their 2-1 home win over Plateau United yesterday  for his 10th goal of the season.

Odey is comfortable on top of the highest scorer log with his 10 goals as second placed Samuel Matthias of El Kanemi Warriors fired blanks in his side’s 3-2 loss to FC Ifeanyiubah to remain on seven goals while Mfon Udoh (Enyimba) and Victor Mbaoma (Remo Stars) are on six goals.

Plateau United living on Boboye’s wizardry

Surprise Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) leaders, Plateau United are turning heads with their performances this season as they have notched up four wins in five matches.
Last season, Plateau United finished in eighth position and 12 points behind the champions Rangers to keep their place in the top-flight under Zachary Baraje after initially struggling at the start of last term’s campaign.
In their first six matches on the road last season, Plateau United failed to take a single point and managed to score twice and then midway into the first round conjured a seven-match unbeaten run including six draws.
However, the Plateau United management had been on the tail of the man, Kennedy Boboye, who has influenced things from the dugout for them this season for months while at Abia Warriors for months and in the off-season agreed terms with him.
Boboye is known for having a reputation for his superb start in the NPFL in the previous two seasons with Sunshine Stars and Abia Warriors in 2015 and 2016 respectively.
During the 2015 season, Boboye guided Sunshine Stars to a five-match unbeaten streak in their opening 10 games, losing just twice at Giwa FC and El-Kanemi Warriors. The Akure Gunners, or Owena Waves, took 20 points out of 30 on offer then, including smashing three past Heartland at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.
Last season, Boboye masterminded a 10-game unbeaten run for Abia Warriors in the opening 10 matchdays. Again, he won at Heartland and got a second away success at Akwa United.

“We believe so much in hard work and we are happy that it is yielding the needed results.

Every team in the NPFL is hoping to do well and even win the league, ours cannot be different we want to do very well and there is nothing wrong with seeking continental ticket,” he enthused.

The Jos side have already set tongues wagging over the heartwarming results they have achieved so far.

With four matches played the side won three and drew one. The victories in the kitty include 3-1 defeats of Enyimba and Sunshine Stars respectively plus an impressive 1-2 away win over Remo Stars.
