Plateau United coaches get three-match ultimatum

The management of Plateau United has given the technical crew of the Jos side headed by Zachary Baraje three-match ultimatum to improve the fortunes of the club in the NPFL or their appointment be reviewed.

The acting General Manager of the club, Pius Hemwan gave this stern warning to the technical crew while reacting to the team’s 3-0 away loss to Northern rivals, Wikki Tourists at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi on Wednesday.

Hemwan who expressed displeasure at the manner of the defeat lamented that result was not acceptable in the light of the government’s unalloyed support to the team.

He noted that Governor Simon Lalong and the good people of the state are passionate about the club and urged them to improve their performance in order not to betray the confidence of the people in the team.

The acting GM reminded the technical crew of the need to work together as a team stressing that a house divided against itself cannot stand.

The former Enyimba and El Kanemi coach who watched helplessly as his team crumbled to their second defeat in the five weeks old premier league expressed optimism that the new players will bring stability to the team.

Joshua Obaje and goalkeeper Danladi Isah who have been training with the team will be joined by other three players identified by coach Baraje to beef up the team.

Plateau United are ninth on the log with six points from four matches and they will face Abia Warriors at Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos on Saturday in a NPFL Week 5.

Plateau is expected to appeal this decision within 48 hours, officials told africanFootball.com.
