    Dele Ajiboye joins Plateau United

    Goalkeeper Dele Ajiboye has been given the all-clear to join Plateau United from Warri Wolves at the expiration of his year-long contract.

    The NFF Players Status and Arbitration Committee has asked the League Management Company (LMC) to register Ajiboye for Plateau United.

    Ajiboye and his agent, Tunde Fabiyi, will also report Warri Wolves to  the NFF and FIFA over his unpaid salaries of five months totaling N2.5 million .

    “We will do everything to get justice,” said Fabiyi.

    Warri Wolves had demanded that Ajiboye forfeit his unpaid salaries before he will be cleared to move to another club.

    Plateau United’s Isa Danladi has attributed his brilliant performance in the 2016 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) to hard work.

    Many had questioned the move of the ex-Sharks shot-stopper to Jos despite his experience, but it turned to be a good one as he had one of his best seasons since he turned professional.

    “I believe hardwork was one of the the key factors that propelled me in the last top-flight season,” Danladi told Goal.

    “My performance was great. As a team we fought a lot of battles and scaled through the hurdle.

    “There was a lot of determination and willingness to win games and the quality in terms of individual players also helped us get the points that we needed in the last 15 games of the last season.

    “I have settled down very well in Jos. My major objective is to play for Plateau United in the next campaign and see what happens.”

    Kennedy Boboye takes over Plateau United

    Former Sunshine Stars and Abia Warriors coach, Kennedy Boboye will be announced as the new coach of Plateau United this week.

    Boboye will replace Zakary Baraje, who quit at the end of the past season.

    Boboye’s new appointment has been delayed because Plateau United’s general manager is currently out of the country.

    Last season, Boboye chalked up a 10-game unbeaten run at Abia Warriors, but the Umuahia team will later struggle causing the young coach to throw in the towel.

    Plateau United successfully navigated a first season back in the top flight after a rather difficult start.

    The head coach of Plateau United, Zachary Baraje has praised the impressive run of Ikorodu United in the concluding part of the current campaign but disclosed to SportingLife that the Jos side would put an end to the Oga Boys’ recent good spell.

    Ikorodu United have taken the league by storm since they got to Abeokuta’s MKO Abiola Stadium and have beaten Enyimba and Kano Pillars and an away win in Owerri against Heartland.

    Baraje informed SportingLife that with the full complement of their players in place for the weekend tie, Ikorodu United will have it tough surmounting Plateau United.

    The former Enyimba and Nasarawa United coach praised Ikorodu United for their fighting spirits despite having no realistic chance of playing in the elite division next season.

    Abia Warriors’ second home loss in the NPFL was handed out by Plateau United on Sunday, after the Jos-based outfit left the Umuahia Township Stadium with a 1-0 victory.

    Danladi Isah, whose series of saves kept Plateau United in the game, admitted that it was a tough match but divine grace saw them through.

    “It was a very tough game but God’s Grace saw us through. It’s a great feeling for the entire team, the management and the fans. “Victories don’t come cheap, we thoroughly deserve this win and it’s only important that we keep delivering at this level,” Danladi told Goal.

    “Our supporters have been celebrating, they’ve been dancing for our latest result. Everyone at the club played a part in this victory. It’s a collective effort, it’s a team effort.

    “I know that we shall keep our NPFL status intact, we won’t go down. The players will continue to give their best at all times and hope for a good finish like what we did against Abia Warriors in Umuahia,” he said.

    Plateau United head coach, Zachary Barajes has said there is work to be done before his side can climb out of the murky waters of relegation.

    The Tin City side pipped Abia Warriors 1-0 in Sunday’s NPFL matchday 25 clash at the Umuahia Township Stadium.

    Substitute Ibeh Johnson scored the match winner for the Jos landlords as they notched their first away win in the 25-week-old top-flight.

    Baraje said he will build on the away win to ensure his side win more matches.

    “We are not completely out of the relegation zone. The outcome of the next match against Akwa United will decide whether we have achieved the breakthrough or not, but that aside we are really happy about the win at Abia Warriors and our first on the road this season.

    Teams are tightly parked on the league log; any small slip and you will find yourself way down the base so there is no celebration or relaxation right now.

    “We will definitely build on the success to ensure we win our next match against Akwa United and other matches.

    “Neither side played particularly well, but I think my match plan worked as we tried to frustrate them, then look for a small opening to throw the killer punch.

    “The key thing is that we are heading home with three points ” said the former Akwa United and Enyimba coach to supersport.com.

    The away win at Abia Warriors takes Plateau United’s points haul to 29 from 24 matches.

    Plateau United defeated league leaders, Wikki Tourists 2-0 at the Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos to activate the N40,000 pledge for each player promised by club’s management headed by acting General Manager, Pius Hemwan in a NPFL Match Day 24 yesterday.

    The Jos side have thus moved to 26 points from 23 matches after goals from substitute, Daddy Francis and Anayo Ogbonna in the 71st and 78th minutes steered them to their second win in the last three matches.

    Players of Plateau United were told they would be paid double win bonus if they could surmount Wikki Tourists and their second half performance proved they were more than ready to deliver the maximum points against the Bauchi side.

    In Ibadan, there was mild drama at the Lekan Salami Stadium when home side, 3SC let slip their two goals lead to play out a 2-2 draw against FC IfeanyiUbah.

    The Oluyole Warriors seemed to be coasting to a comfortable home win when Sunday Adetunji doubled his side’s lead in the second half but two goals inside two minutes in the 81st and 83rd minutes pegged the hosts back to reality.

    FC IfeanyiUbah reduced the arrears in the 81st minute from the penalty spot when Tamen Medrano converted from 12 yards before new signing, Onyebuchi Ajunwa scored the equaliser two minutes later to tie the game at 2-2.

    Sunshine Stars were also truly at home in Akure where a brace by Dele Olorundare guided them to a 2-0 home win over MFM FC.

    The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has sent a reminder to Nigeria premier league side Plateau United that their newly appointed coach Victor Wikadson has been banned for life after he was involved in some scandalous matches three years ago.

    Plateau United appointed Wikadson in place of sacked Zakary Baraje.

    The Nigeria Football Federation has fired a reminder to the Plateau State Football Association that the ban placed on some football players and officials following a couple of scandalous results in the 2013 Play-Off matches of the Nigeria Nationwide League, in Bauchi Centre, is still in force.

    In results that attracted global alarm and condemnation, Plateau United Feeders, Akurba United FC of Lafia, Police Machine FC of Yola and Bubayero FC of Gombe were involved in unimaginable scorelines of 76-0 and 89-0, and the Nigeria Football Federation set up a panel that recommended that players, team officials and match officials involved in the shameful events be banned for life from the game.

    The letter signed by NFF general secretary, Mohammed Sanusi, on Tuesday instructed the Plateau State Football Association to ensure that the ban is enforced in its domain.

    The reminder became necessary in view of the move by NPFL side, Plateau United on Monday to appoint Victor Wikadson as new head coach.

    CHAN 2014 Eagles star, Joshua Obaje has told AfricanFootball.com he is looking forward to score more goals to lift Plateau United after his debut goal helped the Jos team record a 2-2 draw with Shooting Stars in Ibadan.

    The former ASO Chlef of Algeria forward said he also believes Plateau United will compete on their return to the top flight.

    “I feel so excited to score my first goal for Plateau United against 3SC and earn our first away point,” he told AfricanFootball.com

    “I won’t set any goals’ target, but I will keep working hard to score as many goals as I can to lift my club.”

    Plateau United reshuffle technical crew

    Plateau United have made minor reshuffle in the technical crew to ensure that the Jos side put an end to their dwindling fortunes in the league after the management of the club approved the changes in the coaching set up.

    Under the new development, former captain of the team, Victor Wickadson, who was seconded to the feeder team six years ago, has returned to the main team as chief coach alongside Audu Isa Pele.

    Pele who until now was an assistant in the feeder team to Wickadson was a former technical adviser of the defunct Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) FC is to serve in the same capacity in the main team.

    Also, the head coach of the state football team at the Plateau State Sports Council, Morris Longmiap is to join the Plateau United technical crew.

    A letter to that effect was officially issued to the affected coach while the trio of Sani Adamu, Sunday Boyi and Cornelius Gopar are to move to the feeder team.

    A statement signed by the media manager of the team, Albert Dakup quoted the General Manager of the club, Pius Henwan as saying that the changes become necessary in order to bring some experience on the bench that will assist the technical adviser, Zachary Baraje.

    Henwan noted that the three coaches who all bagged their CAF B coaching licence last year alongside Baraje will bring their experience to bear having coached at the highest level in the recent past.

    He disclosed that the team which only returned to the top flight this season is doing everything possible to ensure they retain their premiership status and he urged the club’s esteemed fans to support the management as its strive to reposition the team.

    Henwan who admitted that recent results especially the last 1-1 draw against MFM FC was not good enough assured that the team would bounce back with impressive results in the coming premier league matches.

    Plateau United who are 12th on the league table with 11 points from nine matches zoomed to the final of the state Federation Cup after beating Mighty Jets Feeder team 2-0 in the semifinal played on Wednesday in Jos’ Rwang Pam Stadium.
