    FCT police declare 68-year-old woman missing in Abuja

    The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has appealed to the public for assistance in locating a 68-year-old woman, Becky Mbazuan Wende, who has been reported missing.

    In a statement on Sunday, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed the search for Wende and urged anyone with relevant information to report to the police.

    Adeh said: “She is aged 68 years old and hails from Kwande LGA in Benue State. She was last seen on December 7, 2024, when she left her house to attend NKST Church in New Nyanya, dressed in green Ankara attire.

    “The police have appealed to well-meaning members of the public with any useful information about her whereabouts to contact the nearest police station or call the FCT PPRO on 07038979348 or 08180382808”.

    Bauchi police nab robbery, vandalism suspects; recover guns, stolen Items

    The Bauchi state police command has arrested two suspects in connection with the vandalism and theft of state government property worth millions of naira at various project sites.

    The suspects, identified as 26-year-old Ibrahim Mohammed Inuwa, a truck driver, and 17-year-old Ukasha Abdulmalik, a resident of Karofin Madaki, were caught red-handed on December 5, 2024, while loading stolen concrete kerbs belonging to the State Government into a truck.

    Spokesman of the Command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, in a statement issued on Saturday, revealed that the operation leading to their arrest was led by SP David Silas of the Command’s Works Department in collaboration with the Bauchi State Ministry of Works.

    According to the statement, Ibrahim, who is believed to be the mastermind, confessed to buying the stolen kerbs at the shocking rate of ₦350 each from unidentified individuals along Emir’s Drive in Bauchi. 

    He allegedly used his truck to transport the stolen items to his residence.

    The police have since recovered the truck and the stolen concrete kerbs as evidence, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the other suspects involved.

    Similarly, the Command has apprehended three suspects linked to a notorious armed robbery syndicate operating in the state. 

    The arrests followed a raid by a patrol team attached to the ‘C’ Divisional Police Headquarters in the Sabon Layi area.

    The first suspect, 40-year-old Suleiman Adamu, popularly known as “Baba Mai Ruwa,” was arrested with a locally-made revolver, eight rounds of live ammunition, three expended ammunition of 7.62mm calibre, and two motorcycle number plates.

    Preliminary investigations led to the arrest of 30-year-old Adamu Sale, also known as “Dogo,” from Rafin Makaranta. Sale was identified as a key player in a series of armed robberies in Zaranda village.

    The suspects were said to have confessed during interrogation to using the recovered firearm to rob three motorcycles.

    The stolen motorcycles were sold to a third suspect, Jibrin Mohammed, aged 30, of the Railway Area in Bauchi.

    Jibrin admitted to purchasing one of the stolen motorcycles but claimed the matter was resolved when the owner confronted him.

    He further confessed to buying a second stolen motorcycle for ₦70,000, which he later sold to scrap metal buyers for ₦80,000.

    The Enugu State Police Command has apprehended eight suspects, including a dismissed soldier, involved in armed robbery and financial fraud in the state. 

    According to the command’s spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe, the interstate criminal syndicate was busted through coordinated operations involving the Emene Division, Crack, and Octopus Tactical Squads, along with the Neighbourhood Watch Group.

    The efforts led to the recovery of firearms, ammunition, cash, and other stolen items.

    The arrested suspects include Ismaila Isah (23), Sadik Ahmed (a dismissed soldier, 28), Abbas Usman (33), Mubarak Garba (24), Abubakar Haruna (23), Abubakar Sani (32), Obiri Chukwuebuka (22), and Bright Omeniru (22). Ndukwe reported that two locally made pistols, one loaded with a live and expended cartridge, and a cash sum of three hundred thousand four hundred and fifty Naira (₦300,450.00) were recovered.

    Additionally, the police recovered ten laptops, land documents, ten mobile phones, assorted jewellery and watches, one MP3 player, one headphone, four power banks, two SIM cards, footwear, and bags.

    “The operation commenced on November 12, 2024, around 3:30 a.m., when operatives from the Emene Division, supported by Neighbourhood Watch members, responded to a distress call regarding an armed robbery at an estate in Emene. During the operation, Ismaila Isah was apprehended with one locally made pistol, the said ₦300,450.00, and some stolen items, while others escaped.

    “Ismaila was later transferred to the Crack Tactical Squad for further investigation. His confessional statements and subsequent discreet investigations led to the arrest of Sadik Ahmed, Abbas Usman, Mubarak Garba, Abubakar Haruna, and Abubakar Sani at their hideouts in New Garriki, Awkunanaw, Enugu. Another locally made pistol and additional stolen items were recovered.

    “Furthermore, operatives from the Octopus Tactical Squad utilised an intelligence report and arrested Obiri Chukwuebuka and Bright Omeniru in Owerri, Imo State. During interrogation, they admitted to using phones stolen by the syndicate to fraudulently withdraw funds from victims’ bank accounts. Two SIM cards from different networks were also recovered.

    “Investigations reveal that the suspects confessed to committing multiple armed robberies within the Enugu metropolis and using the victims’ mobile phones’ SIM cards to also commit acts of fraud. 

    “They further confessed to moving and selling the stolen proceeds in Imo and other states. Sadik Ahmed, the dismissed soldier, admitted to exploiting his background as a former security agent to bypass checkpoints during the interstate shipment of the stolen items,” the statement said.

    Ndukwe disclosed that the suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

    Meanwhile, the commissioner of police, Kanayo Uzuegbu, has commended the operatives for the operational breakthroughs. 

    He urged them to sustain the momentum against criminal activities, especially during the festive season

    The Rivers State Police Command has killed a notorious kidnap kingpin and murder suspect, identified as Nkem ThankGod, but popularly known as 2man.

    The 42-year-old suspect, who hailed from Ogbologbolo Community, Ahoada West Local Government Area, was said to be a leader of the Greenlander Cult Group.

    Parading the remains of the suspect at the Police Headquarters in Port Harcourt, the  Commissioner of Police, Mustapha Mohammed Bala, said Thankgod met his end during an intelligence-led operation while attempting another kidnapping.

    “His gang members managed to escape with injuries, and efforts are underway to apprehend them,” Bala said.

    He said before his death, the suspect was responsible for a series of heinous crimes in Ahoada East and Ahoada West local government areas.

    He said the suspect was responsible for the killings of the Youth President of Okogbe Community, Mr. Christmas Ede, on December 21, 2021; multiple killings in the year, including two PMF 48 personnel, three civilians, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Kiriki and Mrs. Abigail Victor, and a spare parts dealer after collecting ransom.

    He said Thankgod further murdered two Shell employees in Okogbe and stole their Toyota Hilux; shot SP Bello during a rescue operation in 2022 and killed two Rapid Response Team officers early last year.

    Bala said Thankgod kidnapping and carjacking a red Toyota Camry from Dare Shola in October; orchestrating several kidnappings and extorting ransoms before killing victims.

    He said the suspect was one of the economic saboteurs, who frequently vandalised oil pipelines and government installations in Ahoada West.

    The Rivers State Police Command has neutralized a notorious kidnap kingpin and murder suspect, Nkem ThankGod, widely known as “2Man.”

    Katsina police arrest bank official for stealing customer’s N18 million

    A bank official in Daura, Katsina State, was arrested on Thursday for allegedly stealing N18 million from a customer through an ATM. 

    The suspect, an Assistant Operations Officer at a new generation bank, is accused of conspiring with a friend to carry out the theft.

    ASP Abubakar Aliyu, the Police Spokesman for the Katsina Police Command, confirmed the arrest during a briefing at the Police Headquarters in Katsina. 

    The arrest came after a complaint was filed by the victim, Okojie Herbert, who reported the theft to the authorities.

    He said: “Following the receipt of a complaint from one Okojie Hubert Erayomon,  m, an Assistant Head of Operation at Access Bank Daura Branch, on a suspected case of fraud against one Adewumi Bolaji Gabriel, m, age 28, of Daura LGA, the Head of ATM at Access Bank Daura branch, Daura LGA, Katsina.

    “The suspect criminally conspired with a friend, one David Mesioye, a staff member of Access Bank Kafur Branch, now at large, to steal the sum of eighteen million one hundred and sixty-four thousand naira (₦18,164,000.00) from customer’s bank account.

    “The suspect, Head of ATM, who was responsible for managing the bank’s ATM operations at the branch, conspired with his friend to steal the sum of N18 million from the bank. The suspects used their expertise of the bank’s operations to carry out the theft, which was discovered during an audit.

    “In the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the offense as the following exhibits were recovered from the suspect: the sum of ₦10,180,000.00k from his different bank accounts. Physical cash of ₦366,900  and other valuables’’.

    “The suspect will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.”

    The Command’s spokesman also gave details of other recent arrests in the state by its operatives.

    He said: “The command has succeeded in arresting one Mu’azu Yunusa, m, of Mai Danko via Tudun Willi village, Kankia LGA, suspected to be in connection with two kidnapping incidents in his village’’.

    Police arrest Ogun student-teacher for injuring pupil’s eye

    The Ogun State Police Command  has arrested a student-teacher Adeola Adeyemo for injuring an 11-year-old pupil’s eye.

    The trainee-teacher was on Tuesday allegedly holding a cane while addressing pupils in her class when the victim mistakenly ran into it.

    This, it was learnt, damaged  her eye and was deemed so serious that a healthcare expert had to remove the damaged eyeball.

    The spokesperson of the state Police Command, Omolola Odutola, said: “On December 2, 2024, around 3:00 pm, Ilesami Christiana, residing at Sabo, Abeokuta, reported that she received a phone call informing her that a teacher had injured her 11-year-old daughter, Alao Idera, in the right eye while she was attending school at Owiwi Nursery and Primary School in Obada Oko.

    “The child was immediately taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Abeokuta for treatment. Following this complaint, the teacher, Adeola Adeyemo, a 400-level student from Tai Solarin University in Ijebu Ode, who was on teaching practice, was swiftly arrested and is being interrogated.     Police arrest Ogun student-teacher after her cane blinds pupil’s eye

    A trainee teacher in Ogun State, Adeola A. Adeyemo, has been arrested after an 11-year-old pupil, Alao Idera, lost her right eye in a classroom incident.

    The unfortunate event occurred on Tuesday, December 2, at Owiwi Nursery and Primary School in Obada Oko, where Adeyemo, a 400-level student of Tai Solarin University, Ijagun, was undergoing teaching practice.

    According to the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, the pupil accidentally ran into a cane held by Adeyemo while she was addressing the class. 

    The impact caused severe damage to the pupil’s eye, necessitating the removal of the eyeball during surgery at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta.

    The pupil’s family reported the incident to the police, leading to Adeyemo’s arrest. 

    SP Odutola revealed that the teacher, visibly shaken by the outcome, attempted to ingest harmful substances upon learning that the injury had resulted in the pupil’s blindness.

    The police are investigating the case. 

    “On December 2, 2024, around 3:00 PM, Ilesami Christiana, residing at  Sabo, Abeokuta, reported that she received a phone call informing her that a teacher had injured her 11-year-old daughter, Alao Idera, in the right eye while she was attending school at Owiwi Nursery and Primary School in Obada Oko.

    “The child was immediately taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Abeokuta for treatment. Following this complaint, the teacher, Adeola Adeyemo, a 400-level student from Tai Solarin University in Ijebu Ode who was on teaching practice, was swiftly arrested and is currently being interrogated. Further updates will be provided.

    “The teacher didn’t flog her, the student didn’t commit anything, just the way teachers hold cane, and saying, preparing for end of year party, student rushed into the cane, but the question is why was she holding a cane? Primary 6 , 11yrs. She was operated on at FMC and the right eye was removed

    “The student  teacher (Adeyemo Adeola) on hearing the situation of her pupil attempted to drink harmful substances, but the police rushed her to hospital and she is now stable,” Odutola stated.

    Police confirm alleged killing of man inside hotel in Ogun

    The Police Command in Ogun has confirmed the alleged killing of one Gideon Ebukwe by unidentified armed men at Ok Winners Hotel, Igbosoro, Igode, Sagamu Local Government.

    The Command’s Spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed this in a statement, in Abeokuta on Tuesday.

    Odutola said that at 3.30 p.m., the CDC Chairman, Atobatele Igbosoro, reported an incident involving a suspected assassination.

    He said that a group of  five unidentified armed men arrived at Ok Winners Hotel in Igbosoro, and attacked a guest, Gideon Ebukwe, whose address was currently unknown.

    “At the time of the attack, the hotel staff, mostly women, were locked in another room, while the assailants proceeded directly to the guest’s room.

    “In an attempt to escape, the guest broke through the ceiling but was chased and shot dead, and his belongings were taken.

    “Upon receiving the information, the divisional police officer led detectives to the scene. No arrest has been made, and the body was transported to Jas Medical Mortuary in Ogijo,” she said.

    Odutola said that investigation had commenced to unravel the nature of the crime, if it was cult related.

    She said that the case would be transferred to the Police headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for a more discreet investigation.

    The Imo State Police Command has recorded a significant victory in its fight against terrorism with the dismantling of a notorious hideout in Aku, Okigwe Local Government Area, linked to the Eastern Security Network (ESN) commander, known as “Gentle.”

    The state Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, announced the breakthrough on Wednesday, revealing that the weeks-long operation resulted in the arrest of key suspects and enhanced security across the state.

    “We urge residents to continue providing actionable intelligence to support ongoing security efforts against criminal elements,” CP Danjuma stated, emphasising the importance of public cooperation in sustaining peace and safety in Imo State.

    Also, Brig. Gen. Joseph Ogbonna (Rtd.), Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security Affairs, reassured the residents of Aku of the government’s commitment to their safety.

    The operation also saw the involvement of top security officials, including Brigadier General U.A. Lawal, Commander of the 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze, and the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), highlighting the coordinated efforts to combat terrorism and restore stability in Imo State.
