    Controversial singer Portable has issued a heartfelt apology to pastors and the Christian community after facing backlash for assaulting a pastor.

    Portable had earlier defended his actions, claiming he was unaware the individual was a pastor.

    However, he has now taken a step further, hosting a gathering at his bar where he broke down in tears, seeking forgiveness.

    In a viral video, Portable, visibly overcome with emotion, begged for forgiveness, saying “Forgive me” in Yoruba.

    A Gospel singer, Testimony Jaga, present at the gathering apologised on Portable’s behalf, urging fellow clergy to see the musician as their son.

    Portable’s apology followed widespread criticism from Christian ministers, who condemned his actions as an attack on the body of Christ.

    In an Instagram post on Monday, September 16, Portable explained that his sister had recently been attacked by a man pretending to be a pastor, which left him deeply traumatised.

    Portable claimed that the preacher’s behaviour seemed suspicious, leading him to believe it was another setup.

    He apologised for his behaviour but emphasised that his reaction was a natural response to his distress.

    Portable explained: “They wanted to set me up. He was not a man of God, and if he was a man of God, may God forgive me for slapping him. If I knew he was a real man of God, I wouldn’t have slapped him. The way he acted was why I slapped him, I’m a human being and I’m not perfect.”

    He then apologised for his actions.

    His apology came after gospel singer, Testimony Jaga, gave him an ultimatum of three days to apologise to the slapped pastor or face the consequences of his action.

    Gospel singer Testimony Jaga has condemned Portable‘s recent physical altercation with a pastor, demanding an apology within three days.

    Portable slapped a pastor who came to preach at his bar, claiming the cleric was driving customers away.

    Testimony Jaga, who angrily posted a series of videos on Instagram, said: “@portablebaeby I am giving you three days to apologize to that man.”

    He emphasised that if the pastor had erred, Portable should have involved authorities, not resort to violence.

    “If Portable felt the pastor was doing something wrong, why not call the police or law enforcement to handle the situation? There was no need to slap him.

    “That man is someone’s father and husband. All I ask is for Portable to apologize—to the pastor and his family. If he doesn’t, he might find himself setting an example for why such behavior won’t be tolerated,” he said.

    The gospel artist’s ultimatum comes as many Nigerians continue to condemn Portable’s actions with some calling for consequences.

    Controversial musician Portable has said that it is wrong for rich people to protest.

    The singer made this statement in a recent podcast while explaining why he didn’t join the recent 10- day hunger protest in Nigeria.

    He argued that the protest was for those who are hungry and needy while he is doing financially well for himself.

    The Ogun State indigene noted that although he was involved in a previous nationwide protest in 2020, it was a staged demonstration that he got paid for as a content creator.

    “It’s wrong for a rich man to protest,” he said. “I was a novice then because I was deceived to protest. They lied to me to raise placards because I was a content creator. They asked me to speak for the youths which I did and in truth it was during the coronavirus era and there was hunger, if you don’t come out you may die of hunger. Now I am okay, Nigeria is okay but you are the one that’s not okay.”

    The confrontation escalated when Portable slapped the man and accused him of disrupting his business.

    Social media users have condemned Portable’s actions as assault and criticized him for not deserving his fame.

    Concerns have been raised about his behaviour and treatment of others.

    However, one user defended Portable, suggesting that if the preacher is indeed a genuine man of God, Portable may face consequences for his actions.

    jbrandy_YBNL slammed him, saying ”Why will Portable slap a Pastor? This Bro Doesn’t deserve the fame we gave him.”

    Another user, TemitayoOdede wrote: “This guy portable don Dey do too much ooo Like see the effrontery, slapping man of God like, what could he have done for him to slap that man.”

    However, a user, #delemon supported Portable, saying, “I heard a lot of people saying this is assault and he should get a lawyer. If the Man is a genuine Man of God, Portable can’t escape what is coming to me. You slap a servant of a living God? The man doesn’t even need to alter a word to God, he’s done for.”

    The singer, known for his hit single “Zazoo,” shared on Instagram, showcasing his Canadian visa.

    Portable expressed enthusiasm about performing in Canada, stating that he was looking forward to traveling to and from the country for his performances over the next decade.

    Rave singer Portable is set to serenade music lovers in Ondo state come September 2024.

    The ‘Zazoo Zeh’ singer will be thrilling attendees of the cultural and annual Ogun festival on September 11.

    Portable will be performing at the White Rock Hotel on the eve of the festival.

    Already, preparations are in top gear to host the  singer at the hotel venue in Ondo city, in the state.

    According to the MD/CEO of the hotel, Chief Kenny Duyile, the decision to invite top artists to celebrate with his people is his own way of adding cultural value to his state.

    In 2023, Duyile and his team secured Fuji maestro, Alhaji Abass Akande Obesere, for the celebration.
