Promasidor Nigeria, a leading food and beverage company, has restated its commitment to promoting education and child nutrition in the country through various initiatives. The company has been enhancing educational quality in schools across the country through its high-quality nutritional products and initiatives. Through the Ikun Milk Day programme, it has also provided its dairy products that contain essential nutrients to students. It was part of the commemoration of this year’s International Day of Education by Promasidor.

Its Chief Executive Officer, Francois Gillet, emphasised the strong link between nutrition and education, stating that proper nutrition is critical to helping children reach their full potential by providing the nourishment they need to learn, grow, and thrive.

He affirmed that the company’s dairy products were fortified with key nutrients, including calcium, vitamins, and essential minerals, which are vital for bone development, cognitive function, and overall well-being.

He stated that the company’s belief that improved nutrition directly contributes to better educational outcomes and long-term societal growth defines the quality of its products.

For nearly a decade, Promasidor has empowered secondary school students nationwide through its flagship career guidance programme, Harness Your Dream. The initiative targets Junior Secondary School 3 (JSS 3) students at a critical stage when career-defining academic decisions are made, equipping young Nigerians with the knowledge needed to pursue sustainable, fulfilling career paths.

  • Promasidor supports families of children with disabilities

Promasidor Nigeria Limited, a leading food company, has provided succour to more than 60 parents of children with disabilities through its low-interest microcredit scheme – “We Too Can Grow.”

The scheme is in advancement of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) policy. Done in partnership with Children’s Developmental Centre (CDC), which supports children and young adults with disabilities, the scheme has benefitted five cooperative groups to which the families belong, with three more to receive their grants.

Promasidor said it initiated the scheme to provide funds to cooperative groups in Lagos and Ogun states through CDC. It is facilitated by Surbpolitan Microfinance Bank.

Commenting on the support from Promasidor at a ceremony held for the cooperatives at the CDC in Lagos, the Project Director, Delphine Misan-Arenyeka, said the company had shown that it cares for children and young adults with disabilities. She said a lot of progress has been made and that other groups would also get the funds after undergoing training with the Community Development Foundation (CDF), which is in charge of capacity building, in partnership with CDC.

The trainings are for proper organisational development, which involves conflict management, credit and financial management and entrepreneurship.

Misan-Arenyeka added that four of the five cooperatives that benefitted from the scheme were in Lagos, while one was in Abeokuta, Ogun State. They included Excellent Cooperative, Success Cooperative, Affectionate Cooperative, CDC/Parents and Atunda-Olu.

She commended Promasidor for the scheme, adding that the company has demonstrated that it cares for the less privileged. “We Too Can Grow also includes provision of Promasidor’s products to CDC, which are sold to support the children through funds disbursed to parents,” she said.

Dr. Olayinka Akindayemi, CDC service director, advised the benefitting parents to take adequate care of their children and make judicious use of funds provided to them. She said there are plans to extend the scheme to other cooperative groups for the wellbeing of children with special needs.

Promasidor Corporate Communications Coordinator Isiaka Lawal said the scheme was a way of saying children with special needs should not be discriminated against in the society.

“We Too Can Grow is a way of saying that we recognise that children with special needs are members of the society. They have the right to pursue their dreams like other members of the society do,” he said

At the ceremony, Akinyemi Akintola, executive director of CDF, stated that apart from the two-day training, which was held in languages the groups understand, its organisation’s role is also to monitor and ensure that loans are used properly by the cooperatives and paid on time for others to benefit. He said CDF is involved in the partnership with CDC in order to bring to use its expertise for development in areas where the centre does not have and then continue from there. On the impact of the trainings and the loans received, the Chairman, Affectionate Cooperative Group, Cornelius Akintola Kasunmu, said the fund was well disbursed among the 22 members of the cooperative, adding that the training at CDF was quite useful as it has helped him to grow his business and also in attending to issues relating to his child’s wellbeing.

Another member of the group, Ganiyat Falade explained that the training by CDF has broadened her knowledge on how to manage funds for investment purposes. “Now, l can adequately take records of sales and products l invest in. The training has been very useful,” she said.

  • Promasidor gets BoI’s N5.6b loan

Promasidor Nigeria Limited, a leading food company, has secured a N5.6 billion credit from the Bank of Industry (BoI) to support its aggressive expansion programmes.

PNL Finance Director, Per Kristensen, said the facility would be used for buying machinery, factory expansion and value chain development, which would create jobs for Nigerians and increase the company’s capacity to support the country’s economy.

Disclosing this in Lagos, Kristensen said repayment of the loan was structured over a seven-year tenure, including a 12-month moratorium. He added that the facility was a vote of confidence on the company’s untainted financial integrity, high credit rating and exceptional corporate governance practice.

He said: “The near single digit interest loan is guaranteed by First City Monument Bank Limited. You cannot compare this with any other commercial loans in the country. What this means is that Promasidor has the needed funds to pursue growth in machinery, backward integration, production plants and create more jobs.”

“The loan comes with comfort because it is denominated in local currency. For the period of seven years, the only risk is the interest rate, which is minimal. We are going to repay in Naira and the process is very transparent. We are excited about the development. It will give us additional opportunity to contribute to the growth of the country’s economy.

“The business is expanding and we need a lot of capital to support that. The injection of the BoI facility gives the management the needed stability and relief to continue to pursue the expansion plans. A lot of expansion activities are ongoing at the factory, and we will continue to see more of that in the next 24 months.”

The company’s Head of Legal and Corporate Communication, Mr. Andrew Enahoro said the company and BoI had shared passion and interest in supporting job creation and the economic growth of the country.

He pointed out: “BoI’s interest is to support business expansion, stimulate jobs and create social values. These are fundamental to BoI’s support for any organisation. Promasidor, on its part, has plans to expand its different plants and develop other exciting products. These will create jobs.

“If we employ additional 500 people as a result of the credit, it is just the beginning of the impact it will create.”

He added that the company would look at other multiplier effects of its spending and that of the employees that would come on board on the economy as well as other indirect jobs that would be created.

“Nigeria’s economy will gain. We should not forget that lower interest rate translates to lower cost of production, higher profits and more taxes. Essentially, both Nigerians and the national economy will benefit immensely from this partnership. BoI is ready to work with us to grow the economy because it has confidence in our processes and corporate governance culture,” Enahoro said.
