  • Promasidor launches Onga cubes

    Promasidor Nigeria Limited, makers of Cowbell Milk, has launched Onga cubes into the market.

    This followed the success of Onga powder, which was introduced into the market a decade ago.

    Its Executive Director, Commercial Mr. Kachi Onubogu, said: “After almost two years of insightful and innovative work by the Promasidor team, I am happy to welcome Onga Cube into the Promasidor Nigeria family of brands.”

    He said the new cube is in four grammes and two variants, which can be used for dishes while Onga Chicken, with superior chicken flavour.

    It has 50 cubes in a pouch and 24 pouches in a carton.

    He added that cubes are diffrent from the Onga powder.

    Reduce regulatory agencies, Promasidor boss urges govt

    The Federal Government has been urged to reduce the number of regulatory agencies in the manufacturing sector.

    The Managing Director of Promasidor, Chief Keith Richards who made the call in Lagos, said the increased number of the agencies has negative implications in the operating environment.

    He listed some of the agencies to include the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Lagos State Environment Protection Agency (LASEPA), among others.

    On the Promasidor Quill Awards 2013/2014 for journalists, he said his company is committed to growing the awards as a professional platform rewarding for outstanding journalists.

    He said: “These awards seek to remind journalists of the importance of their role in society and to the society, the need to encourage professionalism and appreciate outstanding work. As a company, we have taken this step to reward excellent news reportage that informs, educate and responsibly shape public perception on topical issues and industry activities.”

    He said in its first outing last year, winners in the various categories received state-of–the–art tools for the trade and a week certificate course at the prestigious School of Media and Communication at the Pan Atlantic University, Lekki, Lagos to further equip them.

    Richards said the categories for awards for the year are education reporter of the year, best report on nutrition, best CSR & sustainability reporter of the year, brand advocate of the year, photo story of the year, best report on children and future reporter of the year.

    Promasidor, Shell, others submit entries for CSR awards

    SOME big names like Promasidor, Shell, Olam, Total, Diamond Bank and 27 others have submitted entries to contest for the coveted awards of the most responsible Corporate Social Citizen being organised by TruContact Ltd.

    In a statement made available to The Nation by the organisers, they said the firms submitted their entries well ahead of the May 2013 submission deadline for the 7th edition of the SERAs.

    Over the past six years, TruContact Limited has implemented the SERAs in collaboration with key partners including the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON). From inception, The SERAs team has made it a standard practice to verify all entries. This year’s verification of over 30 companies has commenced. The 2013 edition of the Nigeria CSR Awards is scheduled for September 21, 2013 at the MUSON Centre in Lagos.

    This year’s theme, ‘Shaping the Future Through Innovative Value Creation: Making a World of difference’, will continue to identify key players and showcase how business is creating shared value in a manner that benefits the business enterprise as well as its various stakeholders.

    Promasidor announces judges for Quill Awards

    Promasidor Nigeria Limited, makers of Cowbell Milk, has announced the appointment of five distinguished professionals as judges for its Quill Awards.

    The awards is a platform to reward journalists for dedicated news reportage on industry, education, corporate social responsibility and nutrition issues all year round.

    The awards cover five categories among which are the Brand Advocate of the year, Best Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report of the year, Most Educative Report of the year, Best Report on Nutrition and the Best Photo Story of the year.

    Mr Andrew Enahoro, Head of Legal and Public Relations of the company said the judges were carefully chosen because of the regard the company attached to the awards.

    He listed the judges as Ambassador Patrick Dele Cole, a veteran journalist who will serve as chairman of the panel; Professor Emevwo Biakolo, Dean of School of Media and Communication of the Pan African University (PAU); Barrister Jide Ologun, Chairman, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Lagos Chapter; Kadaria Ahmed, former editor of 234 Next, and Kelechi Obi Amadi, a renowned international painter and photographer.

    Ambassador Cole, Special Adviser to The Guardian since 2002 and Delegate to the United Nations and the African Union (1976, 1989, 1989, and 1990) obtained a Masters Degree in History and Political Science from University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand and in 1969 bagged a Ph.D from   Stephen Berhens Cohen College, Cambridge.

    Professor Biakolo graduated from the University of Ibadan in 1978 where he studied literature, philosophy and classics as a Federal scholar. He completed his M.A. in 1984, graduating at the top of his class and was awarded a doctorate in 1988.

    He later joined the editorial board of The Guardian and wrote a weekly column which commanded very wide following in Nigeria. Besides social and political questions, he was especially concerned with family issues in his writing.

    Jide Ologun, a principal solicitor at Jide Ologun & Co is the chairman of the Lagos chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).

    Kadaria Ahmed, an influential journalist, is a co – founder of Reinvent Media Limited and formerly senior producer with British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) between 1996 and 2004. She was also the editor of the now defunct, 234next newspaper in Lagos.

    Kelechi Amadi is a dexterous painter, photographer and lawyer, but however things took a turn when his passion for the arts led him to pursue a career in photography and painting.

     

  • Promasidor gets Lagos tax compliance award

    Lagos State Government has presented Corporate Organisation Tax Compliance award to Promasidor Nigeria Limited, in recognition of its compliance with the state’s tax laws.

    The award was presented to the company by Lagos Sate Governor, Babatunde Fashola at the sixth Lagos State Taxation Stakeholders’ conference held in Lagos.

    Executive Chairman, Lagos State Board of Internal Revenue, Tunde Fowler, said Promasidor Nigeria has always been consistent and regular in paying its taxes. “This company has been regular in paying its taxes, without being pushed. Some other companies do pay through their agencies while it pays directly and promptly. In most cases, Promasidor calls us to their office that our payment is ready.” He enjoined other companies to emulate Promasidor and be tax complaint.

    Head, Legal and Public Relations, Promasidor Nigeria, Andrew Enahoro, said the firm is excited to be given the award. “We take paying tax seriously. As a company, we try as much as possible to ensure that all our documents are intact.

    We do not wait for them to come and tell us we are owing rather we go to them that this is our tax levy,” he said.

    Promasidor Nigeria, makers of Cowbell milk has called for entries for its media excellence awards for journalists, tagged Promasidor Quill Awards.

    Its Head, Legal and PR, Mr Andrew Enahoro, said in Lagos that the awards were now officially opened and urged journalists to enter for the competition through its website.

    “The ‘Promasidor Quill Awards’ which was launched in March, is now officially open. Submission of entries will run all through to March 2013 when it will be closed for compilation. Interested journalists can log on to the website http://quillawards.promasidor-ng.com/ to submit their entries.”

    Enahoro said the awards would encompass five categories and will be done strictly on an e-platform.

    “The ‘Promasidor Quill Awards’ will cover five categories which are the Brand Advocate of the year, Best CSR Report of the year, Most Educative Report of the year, Best Report on Nutrition and the Best Photo Story of the year. These categories have been carefully thought-out to accommodate most journalists in the industry. Unlike others, the ‘Promasidor Quill Awards’ will be done on an e-platform. It will be done strictly using the internet so as to avoid difficulties in submitting entries. This will give interested participants equal opportunity to participate in the awards and also there will be no case of lost entries as you will receive an immediate response after submitting your entry.”

    When asked who the judges were, Enahoro said “the panel of judges will consist of a representative from Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), an academia and a veteran journalist.

    Speaking further, Mr. Ayodele Oguntubi, Coordinator Corporate Affairs, Promasidor Nigeria while demonstrating how to upload entries for the awards, said journalists are entitled to one entry per category.

    “Interested journalists can only submit one entry per category, except the Brand Advocate category where we will do the collation ourselves with the help of our agency. It will be required that a scanned copy of the story in print and a Microsoft word copy of the story be submitted for legibility,” Oguntubi said.

    Revealing the prizes, Oguntubi said winners in each category will get an opportunity to do a course at Lagos Business School (LBS), a high-end Laptop, a high-end camera for the photojournalist, and all Promasidor products.

    The ‘Promasidor Quill Awards’ is a platform in Nigeria to reward journalists for dedicated news reportage on Industry, Education, Corporate Social Responsibility & Nutrition issues all year round. These Awards will be an annual event that would add more depth and reward reporting excellence. Winning journalists would be rewarded with befitting prizes and be given the opportunity to add to their knowledge and skills set.
