Bracket urges Psquare brothers to reconcile amid feud

Popular music duo Obumneme Ali also known as Smashbracket, and Nwachukwu Ozioko known as Vastbracket, have urged the Okoye brothers, Peter, Paul and Jude to reconcile.

Speaking on the Afrimma Podcast, Smashbracket advised the brothers not to allow anger to affect their relationship.

“The thing is, there’s one saying, they say it in Igbo language. You know, what it means is that the anger of a brother doesn’t get to the bone. Do you understand? So no matter how angry you are, like you want to… It shouldn’t get to the bone”, he said.

He also recalled how close they were to the Okoye family before the rift.

“The thing is, you know why? Because we’ve been to, like, it’s not like they are not telling me. Every day, even before they had the first issue, we are in the house all the time. If you listen to Peter, listen to Paul, listen to Jude, you just, you’ll be so confused, you don’t even know where to come in. So you start, it’s like, okay, how can you guys solve it? Yeah.”

Vastbracket stressed the importance of family unity and urged them not to listen to the public.

“Forget about what people say. You are brothers. You know how you started this, you know, yeah, you are twins, the twins, and then your brother, you know, you lived in the same house for a long time. You know how you started, then why are you going to pay attention to people for Christ’s sake?” Vast added.

The music duo admitted that the fallout had gone too far and would take God’s intervention to bring them back together.

“Both of them, all of them, they’ve crossed the line. They’ve crossed the line. All of them. You’re getting your brother locked up. There’s no more brotherhood. So it’s going to take the divine grace of God and the intervention of God for them to ever get back together. Exactly.”

Vastbracket further appealed to the Okoye brothers to ‘swallow their pride’.

“We’re una fans o. We are not happy the way things are going, honestly,” Vast said.

“And unfortunately, the ones that even pain me the most are the people that don’t even know them from Adam, and they choose sight. Now they will say, Oh, Peter is this, Paul is this. And they don’t even know nothing. They don’t even know this. What you see on social media, that’s what you’re judging.” Smash concluded.

Afrobeat singer Peter Okoye has attributed the breakup of PSquare to fans’ behavior.

Speaking during the AYLIVE show, Peter stated that constant comparisons between him and brother, Paul, fueled tension and ego issues.

Fans’ favoritism towards one brother over the other created divisions, ultimately leading to the group’s demise.

He said: “Fans are the reasons Psquare no dey together today. Two brothers dey do one thing, ona dey talk say one better pass one, e con enter one head, he begin misbehave. If ona like make ona dey go house, I no send una.”

PSquare was a Nigerian musical duo composed of twin brothers Peter and Paul Okoye.

Formed in 1997, the group rose to fame with hits like “E No Easy,” “Bizzy Body,” and “Personally.”

Known for their energetic performances and catchy Afrobeats, PSquare became one of Africa’s most successful musical acts.

In 2017, PSquare officially disbanded after years of internal conflicts and public feuds.

The twins had been managed by their elder brother, Jude Okoye, who also owned a significant share of their company, PClassic Label.

Disputes over management, finances, and creative direction strained their relationship.

He also revealed that the rift between the twins began in 2013 and led to the group’s official split in 2016.

He emphasised that he has not been involved with P-Square since 2016 and clarified that his wealth comes from selling his American house and borrowing from colleagues, not from diverting P-Square’s royalties.

He said: “I went to the EFCC office with just Paul. I didn’t go with my lawyer. I gave them all the documents, an officer looked at it and asked if Peter signed. “They were like, you’re even more than P-Square. I said I don’t understand what you mean. They said, look, you’re entitled to 40 per cent shares while the duo are entitled to 30 per cent each. I said, well, I’m not supposed to say it with my mouth, you can see for yourself.

“They [EFCC officers] started asking me some irritable questions like where I got the money to build my house in Ikoyi,” Jude recalled. noting that the building was partly financed by selling his house in America and borrowing money from colleagues.

Paul Okoye, aka Rudeboy, has confirmed that the music group PSquare has broken up for the second time.

In an interview with City FM, Lagos, he revealed that the split was due to creative differences and personal issues.

He explained that Peter told him he was no longer interested in the group and didn’t want to make it public.

Rudeboy also mentioned that they had different visions for their music, and he wanted to share creative responsibilities equally.

However, it didn’t work out, leading to the split.

“The plan of our coming back together was going to produce a lot of hit albums. But as it is now, I’m just focusing on Rudeboy. Trust me, it is not everything that I would want to say.

“I was being accused of saying that he [Peter] was the dancer and I’m the singer. I know whenever we go to the airport, people ask are you a singer or a dancer? I didn’t know it was touching him. But I know there was a time we came together and said, ‘don’t allow this thing get to you, you should be proud of what you’re doing. That’s the role you’re playing.’

“We have a song we did with T.I, ‘Eja Jo’. That was when the issue started. Till today, that song is still on 3 million views because people didn’t hear the PSquare’s voice that they are used to.

“When we came back together, because I didn’t want the issues that happened before, I told my brother to show himself, let us be involved in the creative process together. I told him we should share who carries the tracks equally but still it wasn’t working.

“The new PSquare was peaceful. I needed the past mistakes not to repeat themselves. But then again he [Peter] said he’s no more doing [no longer interested]. In fact, he told me in the face that he wants to quit. I asked if we could make it public and he refused. But what will happen when I go solo? People will call me the bad person. That’s why I’m speaking up now.”
