  • RCCG First Born family empowers students, widows at 30

Over 140 less privileged, including students and widows last Sunday received empowerment support courtesy of parishes and churches under Region 19 of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Lagos.

Popularly known as First Born Family, the parishes and churches gave the widows undisclosed cheque each and awarded scholarships to 15 students of the Redeemers University Nigeria (RUN).

98 grinding machines at the cost of N35, 000 were also distributed free to the needy to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Region, which started the model parish experiment in the RCCG.

Pastor-in-charge of Region 19, Pastor Brown Oyitso, said the gestures were to give the less privileged a facelift and support them through life.

He informed the region was not only committed to their spiritual but also their physical and financial well-being.

Distributing the items to the beneficiaries at the Tafawa Balewa Square venue of the 30th anniversary with the theme from glory to glory, wife of the general overseer, Pastor Mrs. Folu Adeboye, urged them to reproduce the seeds.

She described the items as seeds of greatness, which if well planted, will turn the beneficiaries to employer of labour and wealth creators.

Ministering at the anniversary that attracted thousands of worshippers, general overseer of RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye described glory as anything that causes shame.

He said there was nothing glorious in poverty, sin, sickness or captivity, asserting God was indeed in the glorious manifestations of His children.

To move from glory to glory, he said Christians must obey God and hand over everything to Him.

He added that no one becomes rich by being stingy, urging Christians to sow bountifully for manifold harvests.

Adeboye also harped on diligence, saying those who emerge glorious are never slothful but always begged to take a rest from their several endeavours.

Emphasising the needs to be in Christ for glorious living, Adeboye said: “If Christ is dwelling in you, you will be full of glory. Christ is the King of glory. If you associate with Him, glory will be your portion.”

  • RCCG empowers 143 as ‘first born family’ turns 30

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) yesterday  empowered 98 less-privileged persons and 30 widows as the ‘first born family’ of the church turned 30.

While the 98 less-privileged went home with grinding machines, the widows were given cash gifts.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 15 students also bagged scholarship at the Redeemers University of Nigeria (RUN) as the 30th anniversary of the ‘first born family’ climaxed with a service at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos.

NAN reports that the first born family started as a model parish in 1988 at Ladipo Oluwole in Ikeja, after Pastor Enoch Adeboye assumed the office of the General Overseer.

It has grown from one parish to over 2,500, located both locally and internationally.

Pastor Brown Oyitso, Special Assistant to the General Overseer of the Church on Missions, said the empowerment was part of the first born family’s effort to support the people.

Oyitso, who is also Pastor-in-charge, Region 19, urged the beneficiaries to make good use of what they got.

He said each of the grinding machines cost N35,000.

Mrs Folu Adeboye, wife of the General Overseer of the church, said the support was like a seed.

She thanked those who made it possible and prayed that the seed would germinate and multiply in the hands of beneficiaries.

The General Overseer of the RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, during the sermon, urged Christians to live a holy life.

Adeboye, preaching on the theme of the celebration, ‘From Glory to Glory’ said God had the ability to change one’s lot for the better once a person pleases Him.

“If you must move from glory to glory, you must sow bountifully, surrender all, you must be ready to let God be God,” he said.

According to him, God can move one from glory to glory spiritually, physically and materially.

He said those who had the privilege of moving from glory to glory in the bible, were also hardworking.

“They were all diligent and they had contact with the King of glory, which is Jesus Christ and so, you cannot afford to be lazy”.

Adeboye acknowledged the qualities of the ‘first born family’ across the globe.

“I want you all to know that your representatives all over the world are doing excellently well.

“Anywhere I go, in America, in Europe, in the Far East, in the Middle East, anybody they say is performing excellently well can be traced to the First Born Family,” he said.

The pastor congratulated the family on its 30th year anniversary.

NAN reports that a 2,000-member mass choir drawn from parishes in the first born family, among others, sang at the programme.

It attracted a crowd of local and international faithful.

RCCG declares 80-day prayer and fasting

The General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has declared 80-day prayer and fasting for the church yesterday at the annual Minister’s Thanksgiving of the church at the New Arena, Kilometre 43, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Adeboye announced this prayer and fasting exercise after a prophetic declaration. Thousands of the church ministers from across the country were on ground at the meeting with awards given by Adeboye to the best performing region, provinces on house fellowship, church growth and tithing.

The GO said that first phase of fasting and prayer will start on the 11th of January and end on the 1st of March, while the second phase starts on the 1st of July and ends on the 30th of July, 2018.

He noted that although the church always embarked on 40 days of fasting and prayer annually, but with the 80 days, it is going to be double blessings for every member that obeys.

God, he claimed, told him that stubborn mountains will fall, many people will wake up to realise that their future is not in the hand of any man and as a result, a lot of lost grounds will be reclaimed, while saboteurs will be disgraced and displaced.

He noted that aggressive praise, prayer, giving and faith are important to receiving abundant blessings from God in the New Year.

Adeboye posited further that victory over the challenges of lives is not complete until people make it to heaven, where they will live eternally with God.

He said that the greatest victory of all in life is to finish well in one’s steadfast walk with God.

He said that last year, he lost a couple of his sons in the Lord. “I know that they finished well. Though God took them suddenly that I had no chance to negotiate, they are in heaven laughing and rejoicing that they finished well,” stated the man of God.

The cleric encouraged worshippers to trust in the infinite power of God to heal, deliver, protect and provide for the needy and noted that God can turn against a sinner who refuses to repent of his sin and evil practices.

RCCG signs 10 artistes to record label

In its quest to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ through music, the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has unveiled 10 gospel musicians signed to its recently launched record label One Hallelujah Records (OHR) on Thursday at the church camp.

They were unveiled at an event and presented with cheques of One million naira each as sign-on fees except Kunle Ajayi who signed on for free.

According to Kunle Ajayi, the mission to start up a record label started as a vision of Pastor Enoch  Adeboye.

“He found out that everywhere he has been to, he hears joyful noise and he discovered that there are talents in RCCG that we can use to preach and sell to the world and to bring about change to the world,” Ajayi said.

“Daddy is looking for a way to project these talents and he supports it in every way. It is a vision that he is into.

“The aim is not just to entertain but to bring change into the world of entertainment.”

It was also revealed that the artistes would be going on a tour of Europe and Nigeria in a couple of months.

Director of the label, Pastor Lanre Oyegbola said “the purpose of RCCG setting up One Hallelujah Records is for those that can actually sing meaningful songs that can bring down the presence of God to have a platform, hence we decided to sign these 10 bubbling music ministers on the OHR imprint.”

Leke Adeboye who was also there said it’s been long overdue since RCCG should own a record label.

“We are sitting on a volcano of talents and we don’t want it to erupt the wrong way so we got to channel the energy the right way and obviously with the right backing we might start small but we can only grow bigger from where we are starting.”
