Provincial Pastor, Godwin Obadan, noted that those who attended the event had increased from 6,000 in Season 1, to over 20,000 in Season Three.

“Season one, to the glory of God, had over 6,000 worshipers in attendance; Season two had 12,000 people in attendance. The projection for this year is 20,000. The purpose of the event is to open the heavens over Ijede-Ikorodu and its environs, and win souls while praising God,” the clergyman said.

Pastor Obadan added that over 500 lives were saved in previous editions of the programme.

He said: “This is the first edition since Ikorodu got a region, and the impact the creation has had has been no small feat and, as seen in this year’s edition, has even had a positive impact on the programme. The synergy created by the region has been cascaded to the programme.”

Regional Pastor, Nat Adejuwon, who led the prayer session, said he was dazed by the crowd at the event.

“People love music; everybody likes music, and music is the food of love. If it is so, let’s play on. We have the presence of God, the Holy Spirit, then singing; these are the things people look for; people love happiness,” Pastor Adejuwon said.

The school is an addition to the Christ The Redeemer College at Keana link, Jos.

The new college, which is the first full boarding school by the church in the Northern Nigeria, is located at the Redemption Camp in Kassa, Barkin Ladi LGA of Plateau State.

The school has been designed to have 16 classrooms, boys and girls hostels, administrative block and other basic facilities that would propel learning in a conducive environment.

Pastor Sunday Edward Akande, Special Assistant (Technical) to the General Overseer of RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye laid the foundation at the site.

Speaking at the event, Pastor Akande, who is also the Pastor in charge of Region Eight, said the foundation laying was part of the policy of the Redeemed Christian Church of God to promote sound education and as well raise leaders of tomorrow that would have the fear of God.

He said sound education coupled with spiritual upbringing was the bedrock of any society, saying a society desirous of growth would not to joke with both.

“God is a master builder who works in partnership with men and a rewarder of those who are in partnership with him. The laying of this foundation is in line with the policy thrust of the RCCG to promote education and raise children that would be God fearing.

“What we are doing today is also a stepping stone toward building another campus of Redeemers’ University on this camp ground in line with the vision of our father in the Lord Pastor Adeboye. There is enough land to accommodate all these laudable programmes,” he said.

In his comments, the School Board Chairman, Pastor Tunde Ologere praised Pastor Adeboye and his wife, Folu, for their vision.

  • RCCG, MFM reschedule monthly programmes

CHRISTIAN leaders yesterday urged Nigerians to troop out on Saturday to vote during the rescheduled presidential and National Assembly Election.

This is as some clerics adjusted their programmes in tune with the shift of the polls by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

A Catholic cleric, Dr. Paulinus Ezeokafor, who is the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, said no sacrifice could be too big for a credible election.

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye and the Mountain of Fire and Miracles (MFM) Dr. Daniel Olukoya, readjusted their regular monthly programmes.

Also the Serving Overseer, Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, Pastor Bakare, described the postponement as one too many.

According to him, “in 2011, it was postponed; same in 2015, now in 2019.”

He said the shift has affected the church’s transition plans to move to its new building, the Citadel, which is to begin in March.

“Now, we have to review the timetable”, the cleric said.

In a statement, Pastor Adeboye said: “The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has rescheduled the elections. All things work together for good.”

According to him, the March Holy Ghost Service, which, the mission had earlier streamlined for members within the Lagos vicinity, will hold for the usual four days.

“”Therefore, the Special Holy Ghost Service will now hold as usual between Thursday, February 28 and March 2, 2019 and will end with a thanksgiving service on Sunday morning (3rd March, 2019),” the statement reads.

Pastor Adeboye urged members of the church to publicise the programme, using all available channels, adding that the locational restrictions hitherto announced, have been removed.

The monthly Power Must Change Hands (PMCH) programme of the MFM for March 2019, will be held as usual on the first Saturday of the month.

Dr. Olukoya had announced at the February edition of the crowd-pulling programme that due to the governorship election scheduled for 2 March, which coincided with the PMCH programme, the programme will be held the following weekend.

He said: “However, following the announcement by the INEC in the wee hours of Saturday, 16th February, that the national elections have been postponed by one week, the church authorities have returned the March edition to its traditional first Saturday.

“Members of the MFM worldwide and adherents of the miracle-spinning monthly programme are, through this medium, enjoined to inform others of the development, as the church also apologises for the shift in dates, which was caused by national event.”

Dr. Ezeokafor, who expressed sadness over the sudden postponement of the election, also regretted the pains the shift inflicted on the citizenry.

He, however, urged Nigerians not to be discouraged by the development.

The cleric told reporters in Awka, the Anambra State capital, that no sacrifice was too much for a credible poll, which he was confident INEC would deliver.

He noted that it was unusual for him to be at home on a Sunday, saying he had to reschedule his programme in view of the seriousness he attached to the election.

He said: “The postponement came as a shock to many, especially when one considers the repeated assurances of INEC that it was ready even two days to the Election Day.

“While we feel the pinch, including financial involvement, distant travels and closure of schools, I believe no sacrifice is too much to get it right.

“Whatever INEC can do to correct the mistakes to ensure free, fair and credible elections, should be done, which I still believe they are capable of doing.”

Likening the situation to the travail of a woman in labour, who would forget her pains after delivery, Ezeokafor noted that the pains occasioned by the shift would be history when the elections turned out to be credible.

The programme is scheduled for February 25 to 28 at the Youth Centre, Redemption Camp, Lagos-Ibadan Express Way.

It is expected to draw guests from across the world.

According to him, countries that will be participating in the praise include Nigeria, United States of America, Canada, England, Australia, Spain, Scotland, United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Israel and Zambia.

Other countries are Cameroon, Kenya, Netherlands, Sweden, Malaysia, South Africa, Ukraine, Ghana, New Zealand and Ireland.

“This is a giant step in our quest to bring ‘Marathon Messiah’s Praise’ to the doorstep of every living being on the planet,” he said

Ajayi said that to ensure a hitch-free programme, over 5,000 people have registered to volunteer in various departments and in other various key sectors of the programme across the participating countries.

“Over 120,000 live participants are expected to be in attendance with over 10 million viewers expected to watch the event on TV and social media channels.

“This year’s Marathon Messiah’s Praise will be the greatest in its series and we are confident that as we praise the Great Redeemer, He will do something new in Nigeria.

“As we are coming towards the electioneering time, God is going to give Nigerians good and credible leaders.

“There will be a harvest of souls, miracles, signs and wonders, restoration, peace, progress and divine intervention across the globe,” he said.

  • How Pastor Adeboye prayed for me before chopper crash – Osinbajo

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has revealed how the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, prayed for him night before the Saturday chopper crash in Kogi State.

He made the revelation on Sunday while giving testimony at the RCCG, City of Grace, Lokoja, Kogi State.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and publicity, Laolu Akande, Osinbajo said “On Friday, we went to (RCCG) camp; usually, I attend our Holy Ghost service. We came in very late from Akwa Ibom State. In fact, we arrived just in time for the grace at the end of the service.

“Thereafter, our daddy in the Lord, (G.O) Pastor Adeboye, wanted to speak to me. He asked me how things were going on, the campaign activities and all that, and I explained everything; what I was doing on the campaign trail and all of that, some of the challenges.

“He then said, I am going to pray for you. He said a prayer that turned out to be very interesting because usually, as you know, he doesn’t pray for long.

“He said “Lord God Almighty, I want you to protect this man,” He said it three times and paused, then he continued. “You know how very dear he is to my heart. I want you to protect him.” I found it very funny that he repeated it several times and then he prayed for favour and other things.

“So, when the crash happened, immediately it dawned on me that the Lord God had led him to say that very special prayer. And the Lord God Almighty delivered us in accordance with His word that, “even when 10,000 fall by our side, no harm whatsoever will come near us.”

“I just want to thank the Almighty God for His grace and mercy that has been so abundant in my life and in all of our lives who are here,” he added.

Earlier, the Vice President had called up members of his entourage who were with him in the Chopper and who were in the church to join him at the altar.

They included Labour Minister of State, Stephen Ocheni; and Mr. Femi Osinbajo, VP’S elder brother. He also called the names of Senator Babafemi Ojudu, Special Adviser; and Ambassador Abdullahi Gwary, SSA Foreign Affairs/Protocol – although both of them were not in the service.

Others are Mr. Laolu Akande, the VP’s Spokesman; Dr Biodun Adelowo, Personal Physician; Mr. Doyin Adetuberu, Security Officer; and Ayoola Oladunni, ADC).

“This is my older brother, the same father, same mother. Our father passed on long ago, but our mother is alive. If both of us had lost our lives on the same day, that would have been an absolute tragedy, but God saved that from happening.

“We are truly grateful to the Almighty God and we bless the name of the Lord. And for all of you who are rejoicing with us today, your homes will be filled with rejoicing. You will not know tragedy, you will not know harm, all the days of your lives will be filled with rejoicing,” he said.

  • RCCG refurbishes Kirikiri hospital

The joy of inmates of the Kirikiri Maximum prison in Lagos knew no bounds last Thursday as the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) commissioned the refurbished prison hospital.

The church also donated food items to the inmates.

Dedicating the multi-million hospital, National Overseer of the church, Pastor Joseph Obayomi, who represented the General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, said the RCCG took over and upgraded the hospital fully stocked with drugs, with state-of-the-art medical equipment, including x-ray machine.

At the occasion, which coincided with the 2018 Kirikiri Maximum Prison end of the year service, he urged the inmates not to lose hope, but rather put their fate in God’s hands.

The RCCG National Overseer also charged the inmates to embrace truth and be focused despite their present predicament, promising the church will not relent in assisting them to harness their potentials while in prison and even beyond the wall.

Officer-in-Charge of the Kirikiri Maximum Prison, DCP Emmanuel Oluwaniyi thanked the RCCG for their continue support over the years.

He said the prison used to be a place of condemnation where people rejected by the society were dumped but through efforts of the RCCG and its General Overseer, it has become a place of reformation where inmates get a second chance.

DCP Oluwaniyi said while the RCCG has done so much to make life meaningful for inmates, he would still urge the church to do more for the inmates, especially in the area of skill acquisition.

This, he said, would enable the inmates to re-integrate into the society after they have served their terms as most of them always come back to return to prison because they have nothing to fall back on when released.

He said some of them have become graduates while still in prison while many have also been trained in one skill or the other.

The chapel pastor, Tunwashe Kabiru, appreciated the church on behalf of all the inmates.

He said the bi-annual divine visitation by Adeboye has always been a time of expectations and blessing for the inmates.

The students, he said, will learn through simulations in an interdisciplinary setting such that they will develop the ability and passion to work wisely, creatively and effectively for the betterment of humanity and ensuring global relevance.

He added that the college has a strategic study plan that focuses on learning by doing and combining liberal, professional and industrial education.

He said the college will enjoy 24-hour power supply, courtesy of a twin turbine power generation plant, in addition to other facilities like batching plants, banks, advanced computer centre, medical centre, hostels and others.

He said: All programmes of the College have been approved by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), the regulatory body in charge of polytechnics in Nigeria.
