“If school could teach you how to be rich, the first people that would be rich would be your teachers. But they are hardly rich. School is important. Stay in school. Graduate.

“But don’t expect your certificate to be your ticket to wealth. Financial education is taught in school, but financial intelligence is learnt on the streets.

“Don’t limit your learning to the four walls of a school. Remember that Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg and Steve Jobs don’t have degrees. Yet, they have billions,” he wrote.

‘See your mate’ landed people in troubles – Reno Omokri

Media personality Reno Omokri, has shared his thoughts on the popular phrase ‘see your mate’ amongst people.

He spoke on the cons of comparison in a lengthy X post where he expressed that three of the most destructive words in the English language are,” see your mates”.

He argued how it has landed a lot of people in unhappy marriages and jobs adding that the comparison has pushed people to commit crimes and atrocities just so that they can catch up with their mates.

In his post, he asked the society to create an environment where people do not need to over-compete with each other.

He also advised that if a person does not have contentment, they will have resentment while also encouraging self-development, he stated that there should be a clear distinction between self-development and purpose of life.

“Three of the most destructive words in the English language are, ‘See your mate’. It has landed people in unhappy marriages, prison, jobs they don’t like, courses they have no interest in, and pushed them to commit crimes and atrocities to catch up with or overtake their mates.

“Any culture that engages in ‘See your mate’ may generate much money, but it can’t create wealth, personal fulfilment, and societal harmony. Riches come from individual effort.

“Wealth comes from collective effort. There will always be over-competition in a ‘See your mate’ society, leading to avarice and lack of contentment. Because, without contentment, there will be resentment.

“Self-development is the purpose of life, not competition with your neighbour. It is not you versus your neighbour. It is you versus who you used to be yesterday. The see-your-mate culture is like pursuing your shadow. You will have no rest, because you can never catch your shadow. A lower culture focuses on competition. A higher culture focuses on cooperation.

“Look at the word community. There is a difference between a community and a society.

“The word community ends with unity. Without unity, you cannot have a community. People who come from a society live in competition. People who come from a community live in harmony and cooperation. That is why you have society parties and community meetings”, he wrote.

“Make your home a sanctuary for him or some other woman will start working on him at work. There are two things men need more than sex, respect and peace.

“Any woman who can give a man that will succeed is stealing him from a woman who deprives him of that, no matter how holy he is.”

“That is an inferiority complex and lack of self-esteem talking. Silence those voices and go for your dream woman. Be bold and approach them to ask them out. Women love boldness and audacity and hate arrogance. So be audaciously bold.

“She will either say yes or no. If she says yes, you have your dream girl. If she says no, you will learn how to handle rejection. And let me tell you, in life, few things will help you in your journey to success as learning how to handle rejection.”

On solutions to the issues, Reno said: “Nobody is coming to save Nigeria. It is only Nigerians that will save Nigeria. Local brands may or may not be as good as foreign ones, but with continued patronage, they will improve in quality.

“Buy them, and your Naira will rise along with your personal happiness and the international rating of the green Nigerian passport. Your value is tied to Nigeria’s value. Buy Nigerian and Nigeria’s foreign reserves, trade balances, and debt to GDP ratio will automatically improve.”

Moving depts of CBN, FAAN does not harm Arewa in any way – Reno Omokri

Social commentator, Reno Omokri has said that the moving of specific departments of the Central bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) from Abuja to Lagos does not harm Arewa people in any way.

Recent announcements from the CBN and FAAN about relocating departments from Abuja to Lagos have stirred controversy.

The presidency has been accused of attempting to move the federal capital of Nigeria to Lagos because of these moves.

Omokri explained on his official X page that some departments not being in the federal capital isn’t peculiar to Nigeria.

He wrote: “Arewa people know I am indigenously yan kudu, but socially and mentally Dan Arewa. I will never deliberately go against the interest of Arewa. Therefore, let me say that moving specific departments of the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, to Lagos in no way harms Arewa politically or economically.

“It is in Nigeria’s economic interests that this happens. Money that is made in Lagos does not stay in Lagos. It circulates from there to other states. Especially Northern states. VAT taxes and other sources of revenue collected from Lagos and shared with other states readily come to mind. Let us be our brother’s keeper and make sacrifices for our unity.

“We can subjugate other institutions to politics, but not our economy and military. What should be of utmost concern to Nigeria, and especially Arewa, is how to end banditry and kidnapping, ensure that Northerners do not have to pay astronomically more for fuel than southerners, end or at least arrest the desertification of the core North, reduce the alarming rate of out of school children, get Internally Displaced Persons safely back to their cities, towns and villages, and see to a federal character in the civil service.

“This policy of citing a limited number of federal agencies outside the political capital is not peculiar to Nigeria. South Africa does it. As does the United States and the United Kingdom. No wise nation can afford to concentrate all its vital institutions in one city. It is not pragmatic.

“What such an unwise policy means is that to decapitate that country, all you need to do is suffocate the capital. If, God forbid, some disaster occurs in Abuja, such as the Ibadan explosion, Nigeria should still be able to function.

“Aso Rock is still in Abuja. The National Assembly is unshakeably in the FCT. The Supreme Court dey kampe for the Three Arms Zone. As well as the Ministry of Defence.

“No state or city can compete with the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. However, if we fail to make pragmatic decisions, Nigeria will not be able to compete favourably in the world economy.”
