    StarTimes records growing demand for daily subscription

    Pay TV provider, StarTimes Nigeria says it has recorded a sharp rise in the number of new and existing subscribers who would rather opt for its daily or weekly subscription package tagged “pay-per-day”.

    The company made this known in a statement issued on Wednesday, revealing that it was happy to have been able to ease the financial burden associated with monthly subscription in the country prior to this time and gradually fulfilling its promise to deliver affordable quality entertainment to every African home.

    The Statement quoted its Brands & Marketing Director, Qasim Elegbede “Our Subscriber base continue to soar fast and statistics have revealed that most of our new subscribers come in asking to be placed on the pay per day plan, which is the latest package that allows you pay only for the number of days you wish to watch.”

    He added that “Being the only pay TV operator that offers daily subscription package, it is not surprising that this has been in our favor as most people no longer want to pay for TV subscription they hardly watch.”

    StarTimes had on November 1, 2017 announced the commencement of daily, weekly subscription, announcing that subscribers could now watch as much as 30 channels for N60 per day and over 40 TV channels with just N300 a week on Nova bouquet.

    For Basic bouquet subscribers, daily subscription was at N90 per day and N450 per week while classic bouquet subscribers will pay N180 per day, N900 per week and Unique bouquet N240 per day and N1800 per week on DTT Platform.

    On the other hand, subscribers on the DTH Nova bouquet is N60 per day, N300 per week and 900 per month; N120, N600 and N1, 900 for the subscribers on Smart bouquet. However, the Super Bouquet subscribers will enjoy low rate of N240, N1, 200 and N3, 800 respectively.

    StarTimes owns a featured content platform, with 440 authorized channels consisting of news, movies, series, sports, entertainment, children’s programs, fashion, and religion and broadcasts to over 10 million homes across Africa.

    Subscribers get cash rewards in StarTimes ‘Watch n Win’ promo

    StarTimes has rewarded 20 subscribers with the sum N18,000 each in the January 2018 edition of its monthly ST Yoruba Watch n Win promotion.

    The competition featured two questions per week and subscribers were encouraged to answer correctly on StarTimes Facebook page, while 20 lucky subscribers were selected among over 1,000 correct entries.

    Speaking on the promotion, the Content Marketing Manager, StarTimes, Abosede Adewara, said that “StarTimes is all about entertainment and rewards, the aim of the ST Yoruba Watch n Win promo is to reward subscribers while also entertaining them. This is in a way our new year gift to the lucky subscribers who won today.”

    Some of the winners of the winners expressed their gratitude to ST Yoruba and StarTimes, saying they had seen others win cash rewards in the past months, but could not believe they had won when contacted. One of the winners, Oluwatoyin Morin, said that “I am so grateful to StarTimes for this gift. This N18,000 will go a long way in helping me sort out some needs.”

    Desirous of meeting the growing demands of its Hausa subscribers across the country, Pay TV provider StarTimes Nigeria has announced the listing of Hausa language channel Arewa 24 to its bouquet without extra charges for subscribers.

    The new content offering available on Channel 138 on Digital Terrestrial Television (Antenna) and all StarTimes bouquets, is an all-Hausa lifestyle and entertainment television channel that showcases northern Nigerian life, culture, arts and entertainment that celebrates the potential of Northern Nigeria for Hausa speakers across Nigeria, Africa, the Middle East and around the world.

    According to a statement signed and issued on Monday by its Brand and Marketing Director, Qasim Elegbede, “The demand for more Hausa language channels among our subscribers especially in the North rose significantly last year and as a listening organization fulfilling its promise to customers through best possible access to great entertainment, we heard to their yearning’s with the launch of Arewa 24 on Channel 138.

    Subscribers of leading digital Pay TV – StarTimes are still benefiting from the 50 per cent subscription discount offer which kicked off since November 2017 as part of the Pay TV Christmas promotion for subscribers.

    Speaking on the promo which is billed to last till January 31, 2018, the company said it’s Christmas promotion started quite early to give its esteemed subscribers the chance to enjoy their favourite channels for an extended period and also allow new subscribers get the best from its service offerings.

    In fulfilment of its promise in ensuring that customers receive the best possible access to great entertainment, digital Pay TV company StarTimes, has added new channel, ‘Love World Plus’ to its bouquet without extra charges to subscribers.

    The new content offering is a religious channel for Christian, who want to enjoy interesting Christmas carols, religious teachings, Christmas drama and other related programmes showing on Channel 465 on Digital Terrestrial Television (Antenna) only.
