Timi Dakolo responds to daughter’s concerns about her mother

Nigerian singer Timi Dakolo has responded to an emotional letter from his daughter, Hallel, in which she expressed her concerns about feeling unfairly treated by her mother, Busola Dakolo.

In the heartfelt message, Hallel opened up about a misunderstanding that stemmed from her decision to sleep in her father’s room, which upset her sibling, Alex.

“I’m sending this message to you to inform you about a misinformation that happened between me and my mother. It all started when Alex was angry that I came to your room to sleep and started showing signs of aggressiveness,” she wrote.

Hallel admitted to using the word “irrelevant” during the disagreement, a word her father had previously cautioned her against using, and acknowledged her mistake.

“Although you’ve warned me many times not to use it and I accept what I did was wrong, one thing that doesn’t sit right with me is my mother’s unfair behavior towards me,” she added.

Timi, known for his devotion to family, has not publicly disclosed the full content of his reply but is said to have addressed the issue with sensitivity and reassurance. The exchange has sparked public admiration for the family’s openness and the singer’s calm handling of emotional family matters.

“She said we should drop our phones and I said ok but please can I listen to T.d Jakes I’m finding it hard to sleep she said no. I really was having trouble sleeping so I said the phone would be at her side and I will not have any contact with it. I only feel like listening to T.d Jake. I’ve been feeling weird lately and I need the word of God in the form I can understand. Throughout the whole interaction with my mother, I kept calm and never raised my voice but she was offended by some phrases I said like “I’m confused” in my opinion I think she was quite angry at the fact in the beginning I had a bit of an altercation with Zoe and Alex and reflected her anger towards me.

“There have been cases where Alex will disobey her but she will never go this far, every single action I take she is judging. There have been more situations when Alex has kept his phone overnight to watch football podcasts m, but me listening to T.D Jakes is wrong? I know I shouldn’t but she can be very biased towards me.In the end I decided to write this message to you, although I know you will take her side I just wish you will hear mine instead of everyone assuming I’m wrong straight away. If you would like to forward this to her to see if I missed anything please do”.

Responding, Timi began by praising Hallel’s writing skills, telling her how proud he is of her ability to articulate her thoughts so well for her age.

He informed Hallel that he had spoken to her mother about her concerns and reassured her that he wasn’t taking sides.

Timi shared his wife’s perspective, mentioning that she feels Hallel sometimes doesn’t listen and that she gets tired of repeating herself.

He also mentioned that his wife loves and understands Hallel, often explaining her needs and behaviors to him.

Timi encouraged Hallel to be understanding and reminded her that both he and her mother love her very much.

He ended his response by teasing her about bringing a special gift, possibly an Apple desktop, when he visits.

Timi wrote: “My Favorite Halleluyah, first of all, I love how you write. See me prouding and smiling as I read your message. You write so well for your age. I think I should find you a private writing teacher. Now to the matter, I have spoken to your mum about your concerns. Just so you know, I am still not taking sides. Your mummy loves you. You gets you, she even explains you to me when I don’t. Always saying please don’t forget Hallel is growing fast, she needs this and this.

“She speaks so well of you. She has her own concerns too. She said she you make her repeat herself too much and it’s tiring. She says you listen to me more. I get how you feel about my Kuz baby. You know you have obey her before you drop your plenty of reasons why. She will speak with you later today. Alex and Zoe think I am softer with u but I don’t know about that. I love that you are smart and expressive. Don’t forget to be understanding too. Daddy and mummy love you very much. I will bring something special when I am. Coming. Maybe the Apple desktop. I said maybe.”

Femi Lazarus defends $150 fee after Dakolo’s criticism

Popular cleric Femi Lazarus has responded to criticism over the $150 fee for the school of ministry, which offers training and education in spiritual leadership and development he runs.

The controversy began when Lazarus condemned gospel singers’ high performance fees, sparking a reaction from singer Timi Dakolo.

Dakolo pointed out that Lazarus charges a fee for his school of ministry, seemingly contradicting his stance on gospel singers’ fees.

When questioned by a netizen, Deeemaths, about the fee, “But you charge $150 for your school of ministry? Please can you shed more light on it sir? I thought it’s ministry?”

Lazarus simply stated: “Yes o, it is a school”.

His response implies the education and training provided by his ministry school warrant compensation.

Timi Dakolo slams Femi Lazarus over gospel singers’ fees criticism

Singer Timi Dakolo has responded to Apostle Femi Lazarus’ recent criticism of gospel musicians who charge for their services.

In a lengthy social media post, Dakolo aimed at Lazarus’ comments, questioning the apostle’s definition of a gospel artist versus a performer.

Dakolo argued that Lazarus’ stance implies that anyone who charges for their services is not a true gospel minister.

The singer also pointed out that Lazarus charges for his own school of ministry, where he teaches and preaches about Jesus.

Dakolo calculated that Lazarus likely earns a significant amount of money from his school and asked whether this is not also a form of “selling the Gift and revelation freely given” to him.

Timi Dakolo reacted to Femi Lazarus claim on gospel ministers charging to sing

He wrote: “All this was said in love and with respect sir. I am not a gospel artist but a Christian raised in church.

“Let’s not shift the goal post. By your definition, if anyone charges to minister, they are not Gospel artist, they performers.

“And by that definition, if any preacher charges to teach and minister, they are merchants of hope and motivational speakers and performers too.

“Sir, you are charging as low as 150 dollars per person for your school of ministry. Teaching and preaching Jesus. Probably having as much as 1000 students . Let’s do the maths. You even have premium and standard for God house?

“Are you not selling the Gift and revelation freely given to you? Again let’s not keep shifting the goal post.

“Such hypocrisy, The school of ministry has expenses and Music creation doesn’t. Running cost important, production / promotion cost unimportant. Una well done.

“Most of you don’t know how much a producer charges, then the marketing, the promotion. The amount of hours it takes to finish a song. Keep shifting the goal post guys”.

In a recent episode of the “On The Record” podcast, Dakolo reflected on his journey to becoming a professional musician, stating that music was initially a hobby rather than a career aspiration.

According to him, his interest in music began with singing in his church choir and eventually evolved into writing songs to impress his peers.

“I said to myself, ‘Okay, we are here. Sometimes you meet your destiny on the road you take to avoid it’.”

One of his memorable efforts included driving her to and from work in his branded Picanto, a car he won from ‘Nigerian Idols’ in 2007, which she found embarrassing at the time.

I kept going to the area hoping to see her again. Then I saw her one day and I asked her why was she not picking up my calls and she said her phone got stolen.

“I sympathised with her and we became friends. I started developing feelings for her and she wanted to friend-zone me but I refused. I suffered to win her love. I was taking her to work to and fro. At one time, she used to be embarrassed whenever I picked her up with the branded Picanto I won from Nigerian Idols. I said, ‘Okay, don’t worry. I will shock you. Don’t look down on me.’ And I did”.

They have since welcomed three beautiful children together, and their love continues to flourish.

Dakolo said: “For me, I have a rule that you make music for yourself because the food you want to give someone you must be able to enjoy it yourself.

“You are the first person to play it, the idea is yours, the motivation was yours, and the core of it was presented to you so the first person that encounters that idea is you.

“If you’re doing it for people then you are missing the whole point. A good product convinces the people. It speaks louder than asking people to come and hear your music. If the product is good people will embrace it.”
