Mobilisation for Tinubu in Ondo begins

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, under the umbrella of the Asiwaju Mandate Group (AMG), have launched a door-to-door mobilisation campaign to rally support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

The group, which enjoys the backing of the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, said its goal is to ensure President Tinubu returns to power to sustain the Renewed Hope Agenda and other people-oriented programmes.

Speaking at the inauguration of AMG’s ward and local government executives in Ikare-Akoko, Akoko North-West Local Government Area held on Wednesday, the Director General of the group, Muyiwa Asagunla, said that the grassroots mobilisation has already commenced to consolidate support for Tinubu and the APC.

Asagunla, who was joined by notable APC leaders including Gani Amuda, Secretary of Ondo North Senatorial District; Deni Akerele, former member of the House of Representatives; Liadi Ekunnusi; and Olu Arowolo, former Chairman of Akoko North-East LGA, described President Tinubu as a “human builder and true leader” who has demonstrated commitment to improving lives through intervention programmes.

According to him, the forthcoming general election is a “must win” for the APC, stressing that AMG is determined to “organise, educate, and sensitise voters from the unit level upward, in alignment with President Tinubu’s progressive agenda.”

Asagunla urged the newly sworn executives to prioritise door-to-door mobilisation in line with AMG’s statewide strategy under the leadership of Dr. Tunji-Ojo, while also exhibiting loyalty, unity, and diligence in strengthening the party’s base ahead of the polls.

Others present at the event include Barr. Corporal Nana Opri, State Secretary; Barri. Ade Pelemo, Director of Legal Matters; Engr. Babatunde Gbalajobi, Director of Special Duties; alongside other key state officials of the group.

Tinubu, Macron agree on stronger partnership

Nigeria and France have agreed to a stronger partnership for shared prosperity.

The two nations struck the deal during a “production lunch” at Élysée Palace by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and President Emmanuel Macron.

President Tinubu, who is on a 10-day working vacation in Europe made this agreement known through his verified X Handle @officialABAT.

He wrote: “Had a productive lunch with President Emmanuel Macron today(yesterday) at the Élysée Palace. We reviewed key areas of cooperation between Nigeria and France and agreed to deepen our partnership for mutual prosperity and global stability.”

The meeting underscores Tinubu’s continued diplomatic outreach during his time away from Abuja, with an emphasis on consolidating Nigeria’s strategic partnerships with France, one of its longstanding allies in trade, security, and development.

The Élysée Palace meeting adds to a growing record of high-level engagements between the two countries, which have in recent years broadened cooperation in energy, counterterrorism, climate action  and investment promotion.

  • Triumph of mutual respect

    Triumph of mutual respect

Just as well: President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima serenaded each other at the Vice President’s 59th birthday.  That is good presidential breeding, away from the mutual brickbats of President Olusegun Obasanjo and Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Again, this presidential court politeness is ode to the Muhammadu Buhari-Yemi Osinbajo partnership, which imposed a civil temper, away from the dog-eat-dog gruffness of the Obasanjo years.  Tinubu-Shettima have earned kudos for sustaining that warm civility.

It’s another plus to the quiet institutional deepening of the APC years, away from the proud chaos of the Obasanjo years though, to be fair, the Goodluck Jonathan/Namadi Sambo partnership was much more civil than Obasanjo-Atiku.

Tunde Rahman, a presidential aide, puts the Tinubu-Shettima harmony in perspective: “Their relationship is borne out of mutual respect and trust; and fired by patriotic zeal and the need to promote democracy, good governance, and economic development.”

Rahman states the obvious.  But the danger here is to presume it is — or should be — routine.  It’s not: just as common sense is seldom ever common!  It’s public conduct to be applauded, entrenched and routinized in our democracy.

Still, shove the president and deputy aside.  Bring on their spouses.  Wherever First Lady Remi Tinubu is, look no farther: Mrs. Shettima too would be there! Yes, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, the late PMB’s widow, was arguably less activist with her pet project than Mrs. Tinubu.  But Mrs. Buhari and Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo enjoyed no less camaraderie.

It’s the making of an integrated presidential family, that uses the harmony of its nuclear families, to forge policy unity, that balks at all distractions, in a rare determination to face Nigeria’s onerous challenges.  Again, Obasanjo-Atiku were a diametric opposite.

Still, not even this clear harmony could keep political hustlers, eying 2027, from portraying the Vice President as some useless “spare tyre” that must be changed if the Tinubu machine were to smoothly purr to victory.

That was, of course, humbug — and the fiercely loyal, dynamic and effective Borno Governor Babagana Zulum, wasted no time at shooting down that nonsense.  The Borno wing of APC North East also poured cold water on any 2027 BAT ticket without Shettima.  Just as well!  You don’t fix what’s not spoilt.

But Hardball isn’t really bordered by errant political behaviours — politicians will be politicians, angling and hustling for posts and sinecure, at any cost.  It only pushes a constitutional deepening that inserts clauses to respect and honour the office of Vice President — and in states, Deputy Governors.

You can’t claim a presidential or governorship ticket is incomplete without a running mate, only to win the election and demote your electoral partner as a serf, fated to the whims and caprices of others — including presidential appointees.  That’s simply not right.

Still, the APC two presidencies so far have started building a powerful convention that gives the Vice President his due.  That should do for the long run.  Bravo!

Tinubu orders further crash in food prices

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed a committee within the Federal Executive Council to ensure further crash in food prices in the country, it was learnt on Wednesday.

The Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, disclosed this in Abuja while presenting a paper at a one-day capacity-building workshop organised by the Senate Press Corps for its members.

Abdullahi explained that the further reduction in food prices would be achieved through safe passage of agricultural produce and commodities across various routes in the country.

The Minister said the President’s directive was geared towards the realisation of his vision on food sovereignty.

Abdullahi said: “In addressing the high cost of transportation of farm produce in the country, I can say it on good authority to you that the President has given a matching order to a Federal Executive Council committee already handling it, on how we are going to promote safe passage of agricultural goods and commodities across our various routes in the country.

“We are aware, and I’m sure as media, you are also aware, that there are routes through which commodities are taken before they are delivered, if you know the amount of money that is being spent, you can now understand why those commodities have to be expensive at the point of delivery.

“So we are working very hard. We are doing quite a lot. But I’ve just given you a snippet because I’m here, and I felt we should look at that.”

On the President’s food sovereignty target Senator Abdullahi said the vision is within the ambit of food security and food sufficiency encompassing availability of the food, accessibility of the food, affordability, and in the right nutritional content on a sustainable basis.

He added that other programmes like the Farmer Soil Health Scheme and cooperative reform are being mapped out for implementation.

“We are having what we call the Farmer Soil Health Scheme and that is ready for launch. We are just waiting for the date.

“Another important part I would like you to take note of very seriously is that we are promoting, or we are having what you call, cooperative reform and revamp programme.

“Mr. President has shown tremendous interest in the cooperative sector as a veritable tool for resource mobilisation, for economic activity generation, and to improve the livelihood of members.

“The principle of cooperative is clear and is democratic, yet it is also very productive. We are reforming this.

“There’s a number of things we are doing there and I will urge you, as a Press Corps, to consider forming a cooperative,” he said.

Southern group urges North to support Tinubu’s re-elections

The people of Northern Nigeria have been advised to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

This call was made by a political pressure group, known as SOUTH FOR TINUBU (S4T).

The group, in statement on Wednesday, in Warri, Delta State by the Convener,  Comrade David Obialor Nnamdi  JNR, said President Tinubu will return power ( Presidency) to the North in 2031.

Obialor noted that the North  must consider the unity of Nigeria by allowing the South to complete 8 years in the Presidency.

“The North had the Presidency for eight years, from 2015-2023 uninterrupted, and the South fully supported the Northern President, late Mohammed Buhari”

“If we truly believe in One Nigeria, it is also expected that the Northerners should support President Tinubu from the South to serve eight years”

According him: ” The President, Tinubu is working hard,  committed and has been  providing both short-term and long-term solutions to the problems he inherited in 2023.”

The group maintained that the President is just an individual and he alone cannot do the job.

“This is why all Nigerians must support President Tinubu. The 2027 Presidential election should not be a do or die affair, and for the sake of our growth and unity, the Northerners should rethink and give full support to President Tinubu in 2027.”

    • ‘No Nigerian should die due to power failure in medical facilities’

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has restated his administration’s determination to transform Nigeria’s health sector.

He said no Nigerian should die because of power failures in health facilities.

The President spoke yesterday at the National Stakeholders’ Dialogue on Power in the Health Sector at the Ladi Kwali Hall, Continental Hotel, Abuja.

He said the Federal Government was prioritising innovative and sustainable solutions to ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply in medical institutions.

Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, President Tinubu said: “Today, we face a pressing issue that affects every Nigerian: the persistent power supply crisis in our tertiary hospitals and public health institutions.

“In surgical theatres, maternity wards, intensive care units, laboratories, and emergency rooms across the country, power outages too often compromise safety, interrupt care, and cost lives. This crisis demands our immediate attention and concerted action.

“These outages cannot continue, and under our administration, they should not. Lives are at stake. We must act now.”

A statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the SGF, Yomi Odunuga, the President said the initiative to improve energy supply in health facilities formed part of the Renewed Hope Agenda’s broader effort to tackle energy poverty by decentralising electricity delivery and boosting private sector participation.

“Let me, therefore, affirm unequivocally that my administration is fully committed to the transformation of our health sector by targeting innovative solutions to the hydra-headed challenges bedeviling the sector, including the sub-optimal, inefficient and often uneconomical electricity supply that drives up the cost of services, disrupts care, compromises quality and increases patient dissatisfaction,” he said.

President Tinubu assured investors that Nigeria remained open for business in health, energy, and infrastructure, pledging an enabling environment for returns on investment.

He restated his administration’s readiness to partner with credible investors in renewable and hybrid energy solutions.

Describing the dialogue as a launch pad for “collaborative action, strategic alignment, and shared responsibility,” President Tinubu added that ongoing reforms under the Energy Transition Plan and Power Sector initiatives were laying the foundation for a more resilient and decentralised energy framework.

“Our focus is on expanding off-grid solar and hybrid systems for critical public infrastructure, creating incentives for private sector participation through supportive regulations and fiscal measures, promoting public-private partnerships as drivers of sustainable energy deployment, as well as leveraging blended financing to attract investments from development partners, international financial institutions, and local financiers,” he said.

The President expressed optimism that the measures would restore confidence in public healthcare, improve outcomes, and guarantee that quality services are accessible to Nigerians regardless of their socio-economic status.

In a statement, the team noted that since assuming office, President Tinubu had demonstrated “exceptional courage and visionary leadership” through policies that were reshaping the nation’s economic, infrastructural and institutional landscape.

It highlighted key reforms such as the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange windows, the administration’s repayment of the $3.4 billion COVID-19 IMF loan and the N100 billion Sovereign Sukuk Loan, describing the steps as evidence of responsible economic management.

The Media Team also praised the Ministry of Interior under the leadership of  Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his “transformative contributions” to effective governance.

It praised the ministry for clearing a backlog of 204,332 passports within just three weeks, while restoring  citizens’ confidence in government service delivery.

“Dr. Tunji-Ojo has redefined efficiency and innovation in public service,” the statement said. “His leadership has not only eased the burden on Nigerians seeking passports, but has also repositioned the Ministry of Interior as a model of modern governance.”

The team also lauded  the minister for spearheading an unprecedented transformation of Nigeria’s correctional system.

“Under his dynamic leadership, correctional centres—once seen merely as punitive spaces for punishment and social exclusion—are being repositioned as hubs of reformation, rehabilitation and empowerment. The recent inauguration of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Special Study Centre at the Abakaliki Correctional Centre, Ebonyi State, marks a significant milestone in these far-reaching reforms, offering inmates the rare opportunity to pursue quality education and rebuild their lives.

‘’In line with the minister’s vision, correctional centres are no longer to be viewed as places where society condemns and abandons its offenders, but as platforms for personal transformation and national reintegration,” it said.

APC women in Lagos endorse Tinubu for second term

APC women in Lagos have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027 at their annual summit, which drew thousands of participants.

Themed “Arise, Aspire, Ascend,” the summit, held over the weekend in Lagos, brought together women leaders, youths, and stakeholders across the state to chart a stronger path for female and youth participation in politics.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, urged women to move from being mobilisers at the grassroots to assuming leadership roles.

“As women, we must arise from complicity, aspire to take our rightful place in leadership, and ascend to new levels of impact,” he said.

He added that youths, particularly first-time voters, must be drawn into the political process early. “If 4,000 of us each bring 20 people to register, that’s 80,000 new voices for democracy. This is how we multiply our impact,” he noted.

The summit, which attracted over 4,000 participants, focused on mobilising women and young people ahead of the 2027 elections.

Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, declared that Nigerian women will unite to endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027, citing his unprecedented commitment to women’s empowerment and youth development.

The minister said women are the “heartbeat of this administration” and pledged that, this time, Nigerian women will speak with one voice to demand their rightful place in governance.

“Collectively, we are going to endorse Mr. President, and we’re going with a shopping list, because 26 years into democracy, we still have no female governor, only four female senators out of 109, and just 3.7% of elective offices occupied by women. But things are about to change,” she declared.

Highlighting Tinubu’s record, Ibrahim said the President has launched the Renewed Hope Social Impact Programme, targeting women, children, families, and the vulnerable across eight thematic areas, including agriculture and market women support.

She also revealed that for the first time, the Women Affairs Ministry has secured N2.5 billion for small and medium enterprises and another N2 billion for women in agriculture.

The minister stressed that true empowerment must be economic, insisting that “when women have money, they can run for office, send their children to school, fight malnutrition, and reduce gender-based violence. Nobody beats a woman who is financially independent.”

She urged women and youths, particularly first-time voters, to register and collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), warning that political participation must go beyond attendance at rallies. “As politicians, we must make the vote count. We don’t want charity seats; we want positions because we have something to offer and the heart to carry the people,” she said.

“The best is yet to come. This government has done more for women than any before it. Come 2027, we will line up in even greater numbers to return Mr. President for a second term,” she concluded.

The APC Lagos Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, praised women as resilient and indispensable to development.

He endorsed Tinubu for a second term, citing the administration’s economic reforms. “In just three years, this government has reset Nigeria and earned international respect. Continuity is essential,” he said.

APC National Women Leader, Dr. Mary Alile Idele, urged members to be proactive, while Lagos APC Women Leader, Jumoke Okoya-Thomas, called on women to move beyond being “silent beneficiaries” of government programmes to become “loud ambassadors” of APC’s achievements.

Okoya-Thomas announced plans to launch a women’s mobilisation platform focused on voter education, community organising, and amplifying stories of government impact.

“The grassroots are not below; they are the foundation. When women dream, societies evolve,” she said, directing each local government to mobilise at least 1,000 young voters before year’s end.

With songs of solidarity and renewed pledges of loyalty to the APC, the summit closed with a rallying call: “Arise with dignity, Aspire with vision, Ascend with APC.”
