    …tasks Alia on reconciliation

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a fresh directive to Nigeria’s security chiefs, urging them to implement without delay earlier presidential instructions aimed at bringing lasting peace and stability to Benue State, which has been rocked by renewed violence and reprisal killings.

In response to the latest spate of attacks in the state that left several people dead, President Tinubu ordered intelligence agencies, the police, and the military to immediately mobilize and take control of security operations on the ground.

“The latest news of wanton killings in Benue State is very depressing. We must not allow this bloodletting to continue unabated. Enough is now enough,” President Tinubu said in a strongly worded statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

The President also called on Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, to rise to the occasion by initiating a robust reconciliation process involving all aggrieved groups in the state.

“This is the time for Governor Alia to act as a statesman and immediately lead the process of dialogue and reconciliation that will bring peace to Benue.

“Our people must live in peace, and it is possible when leaders across the divides work together in harmony and differences are identified and addressed with fairness, openness and justice”, Tinubu stated.

The President described the persistent violence between farming communities, herders, and other local groups as “inhuman and anti-progress,” warning that no meaningful development can occur in an environment beset by bloodshed.

He also decried what he described as inflammatory rhetoric and inciting remarks from political and community leaders in the affected areas, noting that such utterances have only worsened tensions and deepened divisions.

“Political and community leaders in Benue State must act responsibly and avoid inflammatory utterances that could further increase tensions and killings.

“They should also rein in those who go out to cause provocations and ignite reprisal attacks”, he said.

Tinubu reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to restoring peace in the region, stressing that justice would be pursued on all fronts and perpetrators held accountable.

Tinubu has empowered indigenous participation in oil sector – Former Minister

Former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Edmund Daukoru, has commended President Bola Tinubu for prioritising the welfare and active participation of oil-producing communities in the nation’s oil and gas sector.

Daukoru noted that the Tinubu-led administration’s policies have significantly empowered indigenous players to enter a space once dominated by International Oil Companies (IOCs).

He cited the transfer of onshore and shallow water assets from foreign operators to local firms as a key outcome of the president’s leadership.

The Amanyanabo of Nembe Kingdom made these remarks during the inauguration of the Nembe Okiori Host Community Development Trust (HCDT) in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

The event was hosted by Anatolia Energy and Services Limited, operator of Prospecting License 204/Nembe Okiori Oilfield.

Daukoru urged members of the HCDT to view their appointments as a call to service and to ensure that all funds allocated to the trust are used transparently and effectively for the development of Nembe communities.

His words, “I wish to thank Mr President for providing the enabling environment for oil communities to benefit from the operations of oil companies.

“The President from his body language, policy implementations has prioritised the welfare of the people who bear the brunt of oil exploration and production and encouraging indigenous companies to participate in the oil and gas sector.”

The 18-member Host Community Development Trust has Chief Howells Isaiah Young Dede as its Chairman.

Chief Executive of NUPRC, Mr Gbenga Komolafe, represented by Head of Bayelsa Field Office, Mr Sylvester Bighoro noted that 103 HCDTs have been inaugurated.

He said that the HCDTs were platforms provided under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA, 2021) to utilise the three per cent operational expenses by operating oil companies for development of their host communities.

Dignitaries at the event include Nembe community leaders, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, the Mingi of Nembe Kingdom, Dr Edmund Daukoru CON; the Executive Chairman of Nembe Local Government, Chief David Alagoa and Management of Anatolia Energy and Services Limited led by its Chairman, Mr Toyin Olagunju and Chief Operating Officer, Dr Adeleke Adedipe.

Mr Toyin Olagunju, Chairman, Anatolia Energy urged the HCDT members to emulate King Daukoru’s noble dispositions to work for the development of Nembe communities.

He noted that Daukoru, an encyclopedia of Niger Delta geology is an asset to the nation and is volunteering his knowledge to develop the Nembe kingdom as a king.

Olagunju commended NUPRC for establishing the governance structure to drive the smooth running of the HCDTs.

He urged the newly inaugurated Nembe Okiori HCDT to justify the trust of the communities they represent and pledged to meet the development obligations to the Nembe communities.

Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo applauds Tinubu, Umahi on East-West Road, others

Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo Worldwide, Rivers State chapter, has commended the President Bola Tinubu and his Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, for innovative, speedy and quality work at some of the ongoing federal road projects in the state

The group gave kudos to Umahi on redesign of the East-West Road, Section III (Eleme Junction – Onne Junction), under reconstruction, the 39-kilometer Bodo – Bonny road with bridges and the Ahoada section of the East-West Road.

The Rivers State chapter President of Ohaneze, Livingstone Wechie, appealed to the minister to sustain the pace of work saying they were looking forward to the superstructure of the flyovers and the bridges meant for the entire design and total completion in record time.

Wechie said, “We are further impressed that the Minister is not an armchair Minister but a field manager, always on site to ensure that the job is done in compliance with needed standards.

“The completion and commissioning of phase one of the Eleme-Onne section is very inspiring, looking back at the economic and social loss suffered due to its deplorable history.

“Thankfully, this points to the larger phase two knowing the overall importance of that entire stretch as being a most vital route where you have a massive presence of Multinational Oil and Gas players that hold the economy of Nigeria”.

Wechie hailed the federal government on the progress of the long anticipated Bodo-Bonny road construction, which he said was more than 80 per cent completed, describing it as key to a robust economic revival for the state and the country.

He said, “It is, however, regrettable that these projects particularly the East-West Road sections was awarded with more than 150billion Naira by the past administration with no significant result on ground.

“They treated that road with spite and ignored the state despite the outcry and in spite of the unprecedented investment worth of that road to the nation and the world.

“While we express our deep appreciation for the foregoing, His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Tinubu we believe has in his wisdom entrusted the Minister of Works with this duty because of his antecedent professional competence beyond the partisan fray for which we impress on him to stop at nothing to evince that tact with a lasting quality assurance for these projects in their final delivery as promised”.

Wechie commended Rivers communities for cooperating with contractors handling the roads in the state saying their attitude was an indication that the state was peaceful and that the minister institute robust stakeholders’ management.

He said, “We seize this opportunity to appeal to Mr. President to intentionally consider major signature federal infrastructure projects in Rivers state taking cognisance of the highly improved security situation in the state.

“The Port Harcourt-Aba Road should be given special attention due to its strategic importance. Roads linking the South-South and Southeast should be reconstructed and expanded for a broader commercial advantage.

“We strongly appeal to our dear President for more tertiary health institutions due to the current grossly inadequate facilities including Federal Medical Centres which is lacking in Rivers State with its ever growing population.

“The state contributes a lot to the economy of Nigeria and should be given a priority attention in projects allocation. It is part of our proposal and recommendation to the President that the Wharfs in the state should be fully reactivated as it will expand the economic frontiers in the region and in turn generate more revenues to the federation account.”

..calls home the first leadership institution

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said Nigeria’s strength lies in the integrity and leadership of fathers within their homes, describing the home as the “first institution of leadership.”

In a Father’s Day message shared on his verified X handle, @officialABAT, on Sunday, the President paid glowing tribute to Nigerian men—both biological and symbolic—around the world. He praised their quiet sacrifices, resilience, and unwavering commitment to building the nation.

“Our country is only as strong as the men who lead with integrity within their families. To be a father is to carry the weight of responsibility with quiet strength. It is to sacrifice comfort so your children can dream, to model discipline, and to lead with love and firmness”, President Tinubu stated.

The President emphasized that fatherhood goes beyond biological ties, celebrating all men who shoulder the mantle of responsibility and mentor the next generation, whether at home or in public life.

“Today, we honour our first teachers, silent defenders, and tireless nation-builders…our fathers,” the President wrote, noting that these values are fundamental not only to family life but to the broader fabric of a stable society.

As a father and grandfather himself, Tinubu reflected personally on the role, calling it “the most sacred” of titles. “The home is the first institution of leadership,” he noted, underscoring the foundational role of families in shaping the nation’s future.

The President expressed his gratitude to Nigerian fathers, both within the country and in the diaspora, saying their everyday sacrifices form the moral compass and strength of Nigeria.

“Thank you to all Nigerian fathers, biological and symbolic, home and abroad. Your everyday labours shape the character of our country and the future of our children,” he said.

Tinubu’s aide holds talks on benefits of new tax reform bill in Kano

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement, Abdullahi Tanko Yakasai, has hosted a roundtable discussion to highlight the benefits of the Tax Reform Bill 2024, recently passed by the National Assembly.

The event, held at the Avenue Event Centre in Kano city, focused on the four key components of the bill: the Nigeria Tax Bill, Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Bill, Nigeria Tax Administration Bill, and the Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Bill.

Yakasai explained that the reform aims to overhaul Nigeria’s fiscal framework by simplifying tax administration, boosting revenue generation, improving compliance, and fostering sustainable economic growth.

“Many benefits are anticipated, particularly for individuals and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

“Some of the benefits of the Reforms include: harmonization of tax structure to avoid multiple taxes, more objective and fair assessment of taxes from entities, lower taxes low and middle income earners.

“Other benefits include Full exemption and reduced Pay As You Earn (PAYE) tax for workers earning up to N1.3 million per annum and workers earning up to N20 million per annum, this, benefiting a large percentage of workers,” he said.

Commending the Executive Chairman of Federal Inland Revenue (FIR), Dr. Zacch Adedeji, he explained that the tax reform will reduce the cost of living, as there will be zero Value Added Tax (VAT) on essential items like food, healthcare, and education, which constitute a large portion of household consumption.

“It’s important to note that the full impact of these reforms will depend on their effective implementation and how they interact with existing economic conditions.

“While the intent is to create a more equitable and efficient tax system, ongoing adjustments and monitoring will be crucial,” Yakasai said.

Other speakers who shedded light on the topic spoke VAT exemption on rent, transportation, renewable energy, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), baby products, sanitary towels, and fuel products.

“These measures aim to cushion the impact of rising costs, especially for low-income earners,” Dr. Umar K. Shehu said.

According to him, the Nigerians will also benefit from enhanced disposable income, by reducing direct and indirect tax burdens.

“The bills contain provisions for tax breaks on wage awards and transport subsidies for low-income earners, and removal of bureaucratic approvals for wage awards.

“There will be tax waivers to promote affordable housing, VAT exemption on rent and acquisition of real property, and exemption of stamp duties on rent below N1 million.

“Other benefits include rent relief, to replace Consolidated Relief Allowance, allowing employees to claim 20% of annual rent paid.

“Essential items such as food, education, healthcare will enjoy 0% Value Added Tax (VAT) while rent, public transportation, and renewable energy have been exempted.

“Businesses will be granted tax credits for VAT paid on their assets and all expenses incurred to produce Vatable goods and services.

“The reforms aim to simplify tax laws and reduce the burden on taxpayers, making it easier for businesses to comply.

“Others include stimulate employment opportunities, reduced production costs, maximised capital allowances for SMEs with minimal non-taxable income to claim full capital allowances.

“The reforms seek to broaden the tax base and improve tax administration, reduced tax evasion, leading to increased government revenue. This revenue can then be used to fund infrastructure, social programmes, and public services,” Shehu said.

Benue killings: Northern CAN urges Tinubu to declare total war on killer gangs

In response to the recent killing of over 100 people in Benue and Borno states by terrorist groups, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to declare a total war against violent criminal gangs.

The appeal was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the association’s Secretary General, Elder Sunday Oibe, who decried the worsening security situation in the region.

According to CAN, violent attacks carried out by Boko Haram terrorists and criminal herdsmen have continued to make life unbearable for innocent citizens, with many communities under constant threat.

Citing recent incidents, the association said, “On Saturday, June 13, we received distressing reports of attacks by suspected herdsmen in Yelewata and Daudu communities in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

“These attacks occurred less than 48 hours after the tragic killings of 25 people in Mtswenem and Akondotyough Bawa communities, in Makurdi LGA, resulting in massive loss of lives and widespread displacement of residents.

“Reports indicate that many internally displaced persons (IDPs) and farmers were killed, with some reportedly burnt alive in makeshift shelters. The gunmen, reportedly armed with sophisticated weapons, were said to have launched the attack around midnight and operated for over two hours.

“Similarly, last week in Borno State, one person was killed, and Rev. Fr. Daniel Afina, a Catholic priest and project coordinator of a Christian NGO, along with nine others, were abducted by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists on the Gwoza-Limankara Road. The group was returning from Mubi in Adamawa State when they were ambushed,” said Northern CAN.

While lamenting that, the security situation appears to be worsening at a time when it was hoped that the criminal elements had been contained, Northern CAN called on the Federal Government to take decisive and comprehensive action to stop the killings and restore peace and security.

It acknowledged that, President Bola Tinubu’s administration has made initial progress in curbing the violent activities, it however appealed that, the gains be sustained and expanded.

“We urge the President to urgently declare total war against these criminals and direct security agencies to neutralize the threat within a clear and enforceable timeframe. Should the situation prove beyond the capacity of Nigeria’s security forces, the government should seek international assistance to halt the killings and abductions.

“The killings are unacceptable; even within the animal kingdom, this brutality is generally limited, yet in Nigeria, innocent lives are lost senselessly and repeatedly. In Benue State, many people have been displaced, farmers cannot go to farm.

“It is imperative that the people of Benue unite and collaborate closely with security agencies to bring an end to the bloodshed. Likewise, the menace posed by Boko Haram and associated terrorist groups must be decisively checked to prevent further loss of life and abductions.

“The sovereignty of our nation and the safety of its citizens depend on a robust and unwavering response from all security apparatus. We call on the government and security agencies to marshal all necessary resources and resolve to eradicate these threats without delay,” said Northern CAN.

Ex-Osun lawmaker urges Tinubu to prevent crisis over council chairmen reinstatement

A former member of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene and prevent a potential crisis following the reinstatement of council chairmen by a court ruling.

In a statement on Sunday, Oyintiloye expressed concern that a recent Court of Appeal judgment— which dismissed the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s application for the relisting of its suit — is being misinterpreted by the Osun State Government and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as overturning an earlier ruling delivered on February 10, 2025, which reinstated the APC chairmen and councillors.

He warned that the alleged misrepresentation of the judgment could spark unrest across the 30 local government areas of the state if not swiftly addressed before Monday.

The former lawmaker declared that the APC chairmen and councillors, who have since resumed duties at their various council secretariats, would resist any attempt to forcefully remove them.

Oyintiloye urged President Tinubu to order the immediate deployment of additional security personnel to the state to forestall any breakdown of law and order.

“We don’t want any bloodshed in the state again and that is why I am calling on President to intervene swiftly to avoid loss of lives. The open declaration by PDP members to invade the council secretariats in the state on Monday can lead to mayhem and that is not what we need at the moment.

“Both the state government and the PDP must be cautioned against causing crisis in the state due to wrong interpretation of the court ruling.”

  • President Tinubu and June 12

    President Tinubu and June 12

    By Tunde Rahman

Around this period in 1993, precisely on June 12, 1993, the day of that historic election, this writer operated in two different but mutually reinforcing capacities. While I was the Political Correspondent of the old Daily Times, covering the then-unfolding electoral process in Abuja, I was also an officer in the Nigerian Election Monitoring Group monitoring the poll in the federal capital.

It was an important day in the nation’s life, as it was in my journalism career. The late Professor Omo Omoruyi, an intellectual giant and the brains behind General Ibrahim Babangida and his transition programme, who designed most of the electoral ideas introduced by that regime, including Option A4, had put the election monitoring group together.

As the Political Correspondent of the Daily Times, I had an uneasy sense of foreboding when the then National Electoral Commission, which had been announcing the results of the election on a display board mounted at the commission’s headquarters then at Area 10, Abuja, suddenly stopped adding new results after results from 14 states had been announced. I promptly filed a story on this strange and disturbing development.

The next day, the late Dr. Femi Sonaike, Editor of the Daily Times at the time, ran a front-page editorial demanding the continuation of the publication of the results. I was beside myself in ecstasy at the NEC HQ, celebrating the editorial and Dr. Sonaike’s bravery and boldness. For a government-owned newspaper, the editorial was an unforgivable affront to the military. As it turned out, that was the last edition Dr. Sonaike edited as Daily Times Editor. He was instantly removed from office.

Then began a sad spiral of events, culminating in an announcement formally annulling that free and fair election. A dark pall descended on the nation. The country erupted in turmoil, with almost daily protests against the election’s annulment. The rest did not simply become history, as they say, but a profound history with compelling lessons.

This piece is not an odyssey of my journalism career. It’s about President Bola Tinubu and the undocumented contributions to June 12, particularly after that annulment. Tinubu played a frontline role in the conception and later agitation of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), which stridently fought for the de-annulment of June 12.

At the time of the election, he was a Senator of the Federal Republic. In defiance of the military, he and others reconvened the Senate that had gone on recess, during which they demanded the de-annulment of the poll or immediate termination of military rule.

For his agitation, the military hounded him. His residence at Balarabe Musa Crescent in Victoria Island, Lagos was petrol-bombed by agents of the junta who thought he had been burnt alive.

However, he escaped abroad and continued the agitation, providing direction and funding for NADECO Chieftians abroad. All of that had been widely publicised and commended.

Many may also recall that iconic and viral picture, which circulated online, where Asiwaju Tinubu was seen behind the late Bashorun MKO Abiola as Abiola went to confer with the late dictator, General Sani Abacha, on the June 12 matter.

The significance of that event signposted Asiwaju’s relationship with MKO as a trusted ally and his essential role in the then-unfolding struggle. Asiwaju Tinubu, it was learned, warned the late MKO to tread cautiously and be wary of Abacha or the military over June 12. As he often says, the military uniform is called camouflage, and camouflage, according to him, is a synonym for deception.

It is thus unsurprising that much of his contributions, particularly after June 12, remained indelible years after the death of Abiola, owner of the stolen mandate. The profundity of June 12 is evident in the fact that its ghost has refused to go away years after the restoration of democracy in 1999.

President Olusegun Obasanjo, who inherited power on a silver platter and his Peoples Democratic Party, carried on as though oblivious of the historical import of June 12 and the ominous pall that its years of neglect had cast on the nation’s democratic system. Although the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua inaugurated the Justice Muhammed Uwais Electoral panel to reform the nation’s electoral process after admitting his election in 2007 was flawed, he battled ill-health for the better part of his presidency to think of June 12.

President Goodluck Jonathan also remained seemingly unfazed about that annulled poll. For 16 years after the democratic renewal, the PDP government carried on with the utter neglect of June 12 and its symbolic place in our democracy.

However, President Buhari took bold steps to resolve the June 12 conundrum and put Abiola in his rightful place even in death. Recognising him as the winner of June 12 and as President, Buhari bestowed on MKO posthumously, the highest national honour of GCFR reserved for presidents.

He also declared June 12 a national public holiday. Buhari gave Abiola’s running mate in the election, Ambassador Babagana Kingibe, the second-highest honour of GCON. Buhari’s gesture won him admiration and commendations.

Many didn’t know that Asiwaju Tinubu had made the recommendation to President Buhari.

Addressing the National Assembly last Thursday, President Tinubu again commended Buhari for this critical decision: “Let me pay tribute to former President Muhammadu Buhari for reaching back into history to rectify a national misdeed by making June 12 Democracy Day and by officially acknowledging Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola and his running mate, Babagana Kingibe, as the victors and thus duly elected President and Vice President respectively of Nigeria after the June 12, 1993, elections.”

President Tinubu completed the restitution for Abiola and other heroes of democracy that Thursday. He conferred posthumous national honours on Kudirat Abiola, MKO’s wife, and other heroes. Agents of the military junta killed Kudirat on the streets of Lagos in the wake of the June 12 struggle.

It is relevant to state that certain things are instructive about President Tinubu and June 12. Tinubu became President in 2023, 30 years after June 12. Is this simply a coincidence or divinely ordained?

The late MKO Abiola christened his campaign manifesto “Hope 1993: Farewell to Poverty.” President Tinubu called his own Renewed Hope Agenda for a Better Nigeria.

Read Also: FATF praises Nigeria for progress on anti-money laundering, terror financing reforms

Now, has the ghost of June 12 been finally laid to rest? Is MKO’s vision for Nigeria alive in Tinubu’s presidency? Vice President Kashim Mustapha Shettima thinks so.

Speaking during the public lecture commemorating the 26th year of unbroken Democracy, VP Shettima said decades after the June 12 debacle, providence returned the baton of Abiola’s struggle for a better Nigeria to “one of his most trusted lieutenants—President Tinubu.”

He affirmed that, based on the final account of Abiola’s life, the military could not take away or extinguish hope. “It is this faith in the promise of Abiola’s vision that has renewed the hope of this nation,” he said.

The work is not entirely done. Although the recent resolution of the National Assembly adopting June 12 of every year for the Presidential Address is a step in the right direction, as it will help to institutionalise June 12 and immortalise Abiola, I think MKO deserves full recompense for his contributions and for paying the supreme price for Nigeria’s democracy. The government should pay the debts if actually it owes Abiola some money, as his family claims.

In the meantime, President Tinubu’s pronouncements last Thursday at the hallowed chamber of the National Assembly stand as homage to resilience and a bold reminder of what might have been.

Delta North APC endorses Tinubu, Oborevwori, Nwoko for 2027

…unveils leadership council amid push for Anioma State

…as Okowa, Onyeme, others absent from stakeholders’ meeting

The country home of Senator Ned Munir Nwoko in Idumuje-Ugboko, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, on Saturday became the rallying point for Delta North political stakeholders who met to chart a new course ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a unanimous resolution, the stakeholders passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and Senator Ned Nwoko—a strategic endorsement widely seen as an effort to consolidate political influence across party lines.

Senator Nwoko used the occasion to declare that the long-proposed Anioma State is now “a done deal.”

He revealed that 75 senators had already endorsed the bill, which has moved past committee consideration.

A public hearing is scheduled for July 4 and 5 in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, with a third Senate reading to follow.

To accelerate the process, Nwoko announced the inauguration of a technical committee on June 15 and outlined plans to visit all nine LGAs in Delta North in July to update constituents directly.

Praising both President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori as “transformational leaders,” Nwoko pledged full support for their administrations, signalling a unifying political tone in a region often divided along party lines.

Rt. Hon. Ngozi Okolie, representing Aniocha/Oshimili in the House of Representatives, emphasized the importance of cross-party collaboration to achieve shared developmental goals.

APC stalwart Chief Emma Ejiofor also urged grassroots mobilisation during the party’s membership registration exercise and reiterated his backing for the Anioma State initiative.

Representing the Ika people, Chamberlain Dunkwu pledged loyalty to both Senator Nwoko and President Tinubu, reinforcing the growing regional support behind the movement.

A major outcome of the meeting was the unveiling of a strategic leadership structure aimed at enhancing grassroots mobilisation and internal coordination within the APC in Delta North.

According to a communiqué read by former federal lawmaker Rt. Hon. Ossai Nicholas Ossai, each of the nine LGAs will nominate 10 members to a newly formed council.

Automatic membership is reserved for serving and former National Assembly members from the district, former speakers of the Delta State House of Assembly, APC national and state working committee members, and all LGA party chairmen—aligning with Articles 12 and 13 of the APC Constitution.

The meeting drew prominent APC figures, including State Chairman Omeni Sobotie, NDDC Chairman Chiedu Ebie, Dr. Antonia Ashiedu, Almona Isei of Ukwuani, and former lawmaker Engr. Doris Uboh.

Notably, the strong attendance from all nine LGAs underscored growing momentum for the Anioma State push and a possible resurgence of APC influence in Delta North.

However, the absence of key figures—among them Delta State Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme, former Governor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, and Victor Nwokolo—sparked fresh questions about internal cohesion in the region’s political establishment.

Of the three current House of Representatives members from the zone, only Rt. Hon. Ngozi Okolie was present, underscoring what appears to be a growing divide between the emerging APC power bloc and members of former Governor Okowa’s political camp.

Despite the absences, the meeting proceeded as a pivotal platform for regional dialogue, state creation advocacy, and strategic preparations for 2027.
