In an interview on the ‘With Chude’ podcast, Alade emphasised support for female collaborations, citing her previous work with artists like Omawumi, Waje, Seyi Shay, and Ghana’s MzVee.

“I’ve had collaborations with Omawumi, Waje and even Seyi Shay. I’ve also worked with amazing female African artists around the world — my song ‘Come and See My Mother’ was with MzVee from Ghana,” Yemi said.

She clarified that there’s no issue between her and Tiwa, but rather a conscious decision to steer clear of manufactured tension.

“You know the thing is that most times, fans and media just tend to stir the waters where the water is supposed to be still.

Afrobeats singer Tiwa Savage has opened up on feeling unhappy about her African heritage while growing up in London to embracing it with pride due to the global impact of Afrobeats.

Speaking at the Unstoppable Africans event, she attributed the genre’s success to its ability to showcase the continent’s positive image.

According to Savage, Afrobeats is the fastest-growing genre in the world, achieving remarkable success despite lacking support and infrastructure.

“Afrobeats is the fastest growing genre in the world. We kind of created it with nothing; no support, no infrastructure, no real belief even from our own people initially.

“I remember growing up in London and I was not happy being African. But now I’m so proud because of how big Afrobeats is growing,” she said.

She dismissed claims that Afrobeats is declining, pointing to its increasing presence on charts and sold-out stadium performances.

Savage emphasised the genre’s unstoppable momentum, noting that one in every four black persons is either Nigerian or African, which underscores its potential for continued growth.

“There was a conversation at one point that Afrobeats is going to have its 15 minutes of fame and then fades away. But we are still here. We are not slowing down. In fact, we are filling out stadiums, and we are getting the biggest songs on the charts right now.

“I don’t know how true this is, but apparently one in every four black persons is a Nigerian or an African.

“So, we are not going anywhere. As much as they are trying to quiet us down, the music is not going anywhere. We are Africans and we are unstoppable,” she remarked.

  • I once thought Mavin’s hit song ‘Dorobucci’ was ‘crap’- Tiwa Savage

I once thought Mavin’s hit song ‘Dorobucci’ was ‘crap’- Tiwa Savage

Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage has opened up about her initial reaction to “Dorobucci,” one of Mavin Records’ biggest hits, admitting she once thought the song was unimpressive.

In an interview with NotJustOk, Savage revealed that during her wedding trip in Dubai, she heard producer Don Jazzy repeatedly playing the unfinished track at their hotel but didn’t realize it was a Mavin project.

“Don’t know if people know this, but ‘Dorobucci,’ I had Don Jazzy playing that in the hotel when we were in Dubai for my wedding, and I didn’t want to tell him, but I thought it was such a crap song,” she confessed.

The singer recounted that after her wedding, Don Jazzy urged her to cut short her honeymoon and return to Nigeria to work on a new record.

“And so after the wedding, he asked me when I was going to come back, and I needed to come back. And I was like, no, I think we’re supposed to go on our honeymoon. He’s like, eh, there’s one record, you have to come back to Nigeria,” she recalled.

According to Savage, when she eventually returned and heard the completed version of “Dorobucci,” she was stunned by how much it had evolved — a transformation that would later make the track one of the biggest Afrobeats anthems of its era.

She recalled a similar experience with her hit Eminado, which she also initially doubted.

“I got back to Nigeria, and I got to the studio, and I heard the song that I heard him play in Dubai. I was flabbergasted.

“I was so angry, like, I don’t know, because this had happened with Eminado too, and I did not like it,” she said.

Hesitant about the song’s potential, Tiwa said she was the last Mavin artist to record her verse, watching her labelmates embrace the track while she remained uncertain.

“I was the last person to record my verse because I was just looking at everybody in the studio, like, do you guys like this really?

“So everybody had recorded it and then I was just the last person to record it,” she said.

Despite her early doubts, Dorobucci became a massive success.

Tiwa credited Don Jazzy’s production talent, vision, and acknowledged the song’s phenomenal impact.

“We all know what happened to the record. I don’t know what Don Jazzy does, but yeah, that was… I heard it, and I didn’t want to tell him.

“I was like, man, who, I was like, is it Reekado he’s doing this song for? Is it Korede or D’ija?

“I was just thinking, ehyaa, like these people, not knowing that I was going to be on the song as well. And it turned out to be phenomenal. So shout out as always to Don Jazzy,” Tiwa concluded.

My ex-partner leaked viral 2021 s3x tape – Tiwa Savage

Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has dismissed viral claims that she deliberately released her s3x video to stay relevant in the entertainment industry, clarifying that it was circulated as part of a bet from her ex-partner’s side.

Speaking in an interview on The Breakfast Club, Savage described the incident as one of the most painful experiences of her life, lamenting the emotional toll it took on her.

The video’s rapid spread on social media sparked controversy and criticism, with many blaming her for not giving in to her blackmailer’s demands.

She, however, expressed frustration over the lack of empathy shown to her, noting that rather than being recognized as a victim of extortion, she was harshly judged by both the public and influential media figures.

Savage emphasised that the narrative painting her as someone seeking attention was misguided, pointing out the absurdity of the accusations.

“I was bashed for my s3x video. Lot of people think I was just trying to get sympathy. Even people with platforms were quite horrible and blamed me.

“I don’t know how they couldn’t see me as the victim in this. They said I did it to be relevant. If I were doing that, I would’ve been intentional about it. I would have used better lighting, lingerie, and my facial expressions would have been on point.

“My mom called me and said, ‘don’t listen to them… I’m just happy that you’re enjoying yourself.’ Hearing my mom say that helped,” Savage added.

The singer also revealed she has been turning to therapy and has shifted how she views love and intimacy.

“For therapy, yeah, a lot of people say to me you’re wasting your money. I’m like, what? I love my son, I love my team, my friends. I’ve been married before, I’m 45, I’m good,” she said.

In her personal life, Savage admitted she has gone years without intimacy and doesn’t chase it outside of meaningful connections.

“I don’t know if I don’t come attached. I’ve gone like maybe three years without. I have to be with someone for me to even think about it. I don’t have toys… maybe that’s what people should get me for Christmas,” she joked.
