Osimhen has not signed for Tottenham – Agent

The bonafide representative of Golden Boot winner at the FIFA U-17 World Cup, Victor Osimhen, has said that there is no truth to reports that claimed the striker has agreed a deal with Tottenham Hotspur.

Shira Yussuf, the elder brother of Nigeria international and ex- Dynamo Kiev midfielder Yussuf Ayila, and his partner, Ariyo Igbayilola, have pleaded that their client should not be unsettled with transfer speculations, as he just returned to Lagos after spending several months with the U-17 national team.

“We have not agreed anything with Tottenham Hotspur, it’s just speculation, ” Yusuf Shira Ayila told allnigeriasoccer.com.

“Victor Osimhen needs to rest, they shouldn’t unsettle the player with these transfer stories. How will a player be in Lagos and they are speculating he has signed a contract with Tottenham Hotspur?”

Shira Yussuf added : “ For now we don’t know where he’ll play. We have a lot of top clubs in Europe that are after Osimhen but in due course the public will know where he is heading to. We can’t decide without the player.”

Allnigeriasoccer.com has been informed by sources that Osimhen is likely to join an English Premier League club, with the likes of Manchester United, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool all scrambling for his signature.

The Ultimate Strikers poster boy etched his name into the FIFA U- 17 World Cup folklore after netting 10 times at the recently concluded tourney in Chile.

Osimhen arrived in Lagos late Friday night from Abuja alongside his coach,Chinedu Ogbenna and his intermediaries.

Man United pip Tottenham in EPL opening day

An own goal from Kyle Walker ensured Manchester United opened the Premier League season with a 1-0 victory over Tottenham at Old Trafford on Saturday, Goal reports.

The right-back stabbed the ball into his own net midway through the first half after a new-look United side had made a shaky start.

David de Gea watched on as Sergio Romero made his United debut, with Louis van Gaal stating that the Spanish goalkeeper is not in the right frame of mind amid ongoing speculation over a move to Real Madrid.

The Argentine international Romero produced an assured display – making a couple of fine, late saves – as Tottenham pushed for equalizer.

Van Gaal must have seen plenty of room for improvement as he aims to turn United into title contenders, but will be happy with three points after losing at home to Swansea City on the opening day last year.

Romero, Matteo Darmian, Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay made their Premier League debuts for United, while Germany World Cup winner, Bastian Schweinsteiger, was among the substitutes.

  • Adebayor: Levy blocked my Tottenham exit

Adebayor: Levy blocked my Tottenham exit

Emmanuel Adebayor has revealed that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy blocked his exit from the club at the end of the January transfer window.

The Togolese striker appeared set to leave White Hart Lane after falling out of favour under manager Mauricio Pochettino, making just 11 Premier League appearances in 2014-15.

West Ham made a deadline day move to sign Adebayor on loan having seen their attempt to recall Mauro Zarate from QPR fail, and the striker was understood to be keen on the prospect of joining the Hammers.

But the 30-year-old has now revealed that Levy personally intervened to stop any such switch, due to the rivalry between the two clubs.

The striker told Sky Sports News: “The club decided to send me out on loan, which I was pleased with.

“I was lucky enough to have five good clubs in my hand. I decided to go to three, and then when I decided the one I wanted to go, Mr Levy was against it, because they’re a rival.

“He decided I should stay at the club and I’m happy to stay at the club and do my job.”

Adebayor has scored just two goals in all competitions this season, and has slipped behind Harry Kane – who signed a new contract on deadline day – and Roberto Soldado in the pecking order in north London.

  • Tottenham plan €21m Schneiderlin bid

Tottenham will make another attempt to prise Morgan Schneiderlin from Southampton as their pursuit of the midfielder goes down to the wire.

Goal understands that Mauricio Pochettino remains determined to land his former player and has sanctioned a bid of around €21 million.

Spurs are confident that Schneiderlin is still determined to make the move to White Hart Lane, despite playing the full 90 minutes against Liverpool on Sunday after it had initially been suggested that he would pull out of training and matches.

However, Southampton are refusing to grant the Frenchman an easy exit from St Mary’s Stadium, with manager Ronald Koeman reiterating that he is not for sale.

Speaking after the 2-1 defeat at Anfield, where Schneiderlin was denied a late equaliser only by an outstanding Simon Mignolet save, Koeman explained that he had no concerns about the France international’s commitment.

  • Newcastle 0-4 Tottenham: Adebayor’s brace ruins Magpies

Tottenham Hotspur cruised to a comfortable 4-0 win over Newcastle United as Emmanuel Adebayor scored a brace in their victory at St James’ Park.

Spurs had a great chance to open the scoring in the sixth minute when Davide Santon was robbed of the ball by Younes Kaboul who teed up Paulinho, but his effort was well saved by Tim Krul.

Newcastle responded to this early threat as Mathieu Debuchy lifted a cross to the back post where Luuk de Jong won a header, and turned it into the path of Papiss Cisse who failed to find the net from close range.

Cisse was punished for his miss as Spurs took the lead in the 18th minute when Nabil Bentaleb raided into the box and powered a low cross across the face of goal, which fell into the path of Adebayor who tapped the ball home.

Tottenham came close to adding a second goal as Aaron Lennon received the ball down the right and he cut inside onto his left foot and fired at goal, but his effort was tipped onto the post by Krul.

After the break, Spurs doubled their advantage when Paulinho teed up Adebayor on the edge of the area and his shot was well saved by Krul, but Paulinho was able to pounce on the rebound to slot his effort into the net.

  • Tottenham sacks Villas-Boas

    Tottenham sacks Villas-Boas

Tottenham has confirmed that manager Andre Villas-Boas has been sacked following Sunday’s 5-0 thrashing by Liverpool at White Hart Lane, goal.com reports.

The defeat leaves Spurs in seventh place in the Premier League table, eight points behind leaders Arsenal and comes less than a month after the club received a 6-0 drubbing in the hands of Manchester City.

Goal.com said last week that the relationship between Villas-Boas and Daniel Levy had deteriorated to the point where he was no longer expected to remain at White Hart Lane beyond this season.

But following Sunday’s humiliation Levy, who looked less than impressed watching from the executive box, has decided to take immediate action.

“The club can announce that agreement has been reached with Head Coach, Andre Villas-Boas, for the termination of his services,” goal.com quoted the club as saying in a statement.

“The decision was by mutual consent and in the interests of all parties.”

  • Distin happy with progress

    Distin happy with progress

Sylvain Distin believes Everton’s frustration after their goalless draw with Tottenham is a sign of how much progress they are making.

In what has been a fine start to their Barclays Premier League campaign, the Toffees claimed another creditable point as Spurs’ visit to Goodison Park ended in a stalemate.

The result left the Merseysiders seventh in the table but a victory could have lifted them to second and further underlined the positive start to the Roberto Martinez era.

Distin said: “Right now we are in a spirit where we want to win every single game.

“When we draw at home against Spurs and feel disappointment, that shows where the team wants to go. It is great.

“We feel like it is two points missed but I think it is a fair result.

“In the first half I think they dominated us and in the second half we were much better.”

Distin’s assessment is a reasonable one. Spurs controlled possession and created the better chances before the break as Everton struggled to gain and retain the ball.

The hosts commanded more control in the second half and Hugo Lloris – who controversially played on after a nasty collision with Everton’s Romelu Lukaku late on – was the busier goalkeeper.

Distin said: “You have to learn from your mistakes and adapt your position.

“They had a gameplan and we had to change our gameplan, and that worked fine.

“It was still a good game. We had some great chances and didn’t concede a goal. At home, that is good.”
