    To celebrate this achievement, Toyin Abraham has pledged to donate five bags of rice to support a good cause, embodying the spirit of giving and kindness.

    Why I can’t speak my native Edo dialect – Toyin Abraham

    Actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has revealed why she cannot speak her native Edo language despite being from Auchi, Edo State.

    Speaking with TikToker Jarvis at the premiere of the movie Ginger, Toyin revealed that her fluency in Yoruba stems from being born and raised in Yoruba land and marrying a Yoruba man.

    “I can’t speak Edo. You know I was born and brought up in Yoruba land. And I married a Yoruba man. So I’m practically Yoruba. I can’t even speak Edo. One bit. But there’s no Yoruba I can’t speak,” she explained.

    Born in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, to Edo parents, Toyin grew up immersed in Yoruba culture in Ibadan, Oyo State.

    She attended Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, and later Ibadan Polytechnic before pursuing her acting career full-time.

    Filmmakers Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham have rekindled their friendship, putting past rumors of a feud to rest. 

    The actresses speculated to have a rift due to industry competitions, recently showed affection on Instagram. 

    After following each other on the platform, Toyin praised Funke’s dancing video, commenting “Aunty Funke, you hot oooo.”

     Funke playfully responded, calling Toyin “Onijobon” and thanking her for the compliment.

    In a heartfelt post earlier in April 2024, Toyin reflected on their past relationship, revealing that they were once competitors in the Yoruba film industry. 

    However, she’s since come to appreciate Funke’s success, celebrating her record-breaking achievement of selling over N1 billion worth of movies. 

    Toyin acknowledged that Funke’s success has inspired other women, including herself, to strive for similar goals. 

    She expressed admiration for Funke’s work ethic and wished her well, stating that they should support and compliment each other despite the competitive nature of their industry.

    She wrote: “In those days of the Yoruba film industry, Funke Akindele was like number one after the likes of Aunty Bukky and Aunty Faithia. I was the next in line. The competition was much and with many gossips in between, we became competitors and persona non grata.”

    She added: “But with time, age, and more wisdom, I have realised we can compete without being negatively competitive. Aunty Funke, I celebrate you for showing us what is possible. You are a winner. You sold over N1bn, you made it possible for other women to dream. You ran us street with that N1bn o, this year, many of us will move to N1bnand we pray God makes you bigger.

    “Thank you for making great movies and selling them like your life depends on it. You taught other women to hustle harder. I had set box office records; Aunty came and beat them; today I am happy because she has challenged me to set higher goals.

    Abraham shared the screenshot of the message on her Instagram, proclaiming herself a prophet who speaks and heals through her movies.

    She encouraged her followers to watch “Iyalode,” which is still showing in cinemas, promising they would be blessed.

    She wrote: “I just don’t shoot movies, I’m a Prophet and I speak and heal people through my Movies.

    Actress and filmmaker Bimbo Ademoye has playfully called out her colleague Toyin Abraham for pulling a hilarious prank on her.

    According to Bimbo, Toyin jokingly accused her of being uncaring after missing a phone call, claiming she was hospitalised and on oxygen.

    When Bimbo demanded video evidence, Toyin responded with a staged photo from a video call, featuring phone charger cables wrapped around her nose to mimic an oxygen tube, leaving Bimbo and fans in stitches.

    Sharing the hilarious moment on Instagram, she wrote: “Just because I missed & Toyin Abraham’s call once!! She started threatening me, saying i don’t care about her. I told this woman I’m on set and I cannot take calls. Next thing she says, ‘I’m in the hospital.’

    Why Niyi Akinmolayan sought my husband’s approval for ‘Elevator Baby’, by Toyin Abraham

    Actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has recounted how filmmaker Niyi Akinmolayan took permission from her husband, Kola Ajeyemi before shooting award-winning movie ‘Elevator Baby’. 

    In an interview with PulseNG, Abraham said she was seven months pregnant with her son, Ireoluwa while she filmed the movie. 

    Unaware of her pregnancy, Toyin said Akinmolayan reached out to her for a role that required a pregnant character. 

    She said after Niyi’s request, her husband, did not only agreed but also attended the shoot to support her. 

    To ensure her comfort and safety, two nurses were present on set and despite the challenges, Abraham said she enjoyed the experience and recalled the special moment fondly.

    She said: “I was pregnant with Ireoluwa, and Ire will be 6 in August, when we shot this movie. When I got pregnant, I didn’t want people to know. So, I got a call from Mr Niyi and he said there is a scene that I would do and they would do make-up for me as a pregnant woman. It is actually not my movie, it is Antar Hills, and I am like ‘Did you know I am pregnant?’, and I was like 7 months. I told him he had to ask my husband if he would agree. He came to the house and spoke to my husband, and he agreed. My husband was on set, and two nurses were on set. It was a crázy shoot but I enjoyed myself.”

    Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham is set to make a big screen debut with her highly anticipated film, ‘Iyalode.’

    The project, directed by Adebayo Tijani and produced by Kolawole Ajeyemi in association with Film One Studios, is scheduled to premiere on June 6, with an exclusive advanced screening on June 4.
