Actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has responded to allegations of owing an online fashion designer millions.

Toyin dismissed the claims as a “complete misunderstanding” and untrue details.

The designer took to social media to vent frustrations over alleged unpaid debts totalling millions, implicating Toyin Abraham, Annie Idibia and Gabriel Anthony.

“@toyin_abraham @annieidibial @gabrielanthonys, my patience is running out already. 1 year and 2 months. How can you be with someone’s millions and feel so reluctant,”  the fashion designer wrote.

However, Toyin Abraham clarified the situation on Instagram, revealing that the dresses in question were borrowed for her production, Malaika and returned to Gabriel Anthony.

Gabriel Anthony corroborated Toyin’s account, confirming that he informed the designer the dresses had been returned and borrowed by someone else.

“Hello everyone, I want to address the recent allegations about an unpaid debt to a fashion designer. The situation has been completely misunderstood. During the production of Malaika, there was a runway scene, and we needed dresses. We contacted a couple of designers, including Tiannah, to provide the dresses.

“Additionally, Gabriel, who was part of the team, mentioned that a friend of his also wanted to contribute some dresses, and she did. I even bought a hairpiece from her, for which I paid in full. As for the dresses she provided, they were borrowed for the shoot, and once we finished using them, I handed them back to Gabriel, who brought them to us.

“Upon seeing the online allegations online, I called Gabriel immediately for clarification. Gabriel confirmed that he informed the designer that the dresses had already been returned to him and subsequently borrowed by someone else. Therefore, it is no longer my responsibility. I hope this clears the confusion,” the actress wrote.

Cyberbullying, criticism of Toyin Abraham unnecessary – Tacha

Big Brother Naija star Tacha has defended Toyin Abraham, who faced backlash for supporting the All Progressive Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 general elections.

Tacha questioned why Abraham continues to be bullied and criticized for her political choices, emphasizing that everyone has the right to support their preferred candidate.

She also clarified the controversy around Abraham’s reported involvement with the police and a troll, stating that writing a petition is a legitimate action and does not necessarily involve using the police to silence critics.

“Personally, I don’t understand the constant bullying of someone for picking their candidate of choice. In the same way, you have picked your choice of candidate, everybody has the right to pick their choice of candidate. The same way you saw qualities in your candidate is the same way that other people saw them.

“I really don’t understand the constant, steady bullying based on the candidate she chose to support. Let’s not act naive… If you write a petition to the police and the person that you’ve written the petition against refuses to honour the police invitation, they will pick him up. This has nothing to do with whether Toyin Abraham is a public figure or not, or if you’re just a regular citizen,” Tacha explained.

She added: “You people are the same people who dragged the Nigerian police for not taking Mohbad’s petition seriously; now they are taking it seriously and you are saying that they are using the Nigerian police.

“Now with everyone dragging Toyin Abraham, I want to know what her impact was on last year’s election. Would our president still be our president without Toyin Abraham? Yes!!”
