    Actress and filmmaker, Toyin Abraham, is celebrating a major achievement as her latest cinematic movie ‘Alakada Bad and Boujee’ gross N500 million at the box office, becoming the 5th highest-grossing movie of all time.

    Abraham expressed gratitude to her supporters, stating that she always strives to surpass her previous achievements and break boundaries in the film industry.

    Toyin Abraham announces premiere date for “Iyalode” movie

    Actress and filmmaker, Toyin Abraham, has revealed that her highly anticipated film, Iyalode, will hit cinemas on June 6, 2025, with an exclusive advanced screening on June 4.

    The movie features a star-studded cast, including Kehinde Bankole, Bukky Wright, Muyiwa Ademola, Wale Ojo, and Kolawole Ajeyemi.

    “Iyalode is coming to cinemas on the 6th of June, and our advanced screening is on the 4th,” she said.

    Under the direction of Adebayo Tijani, “Iyalode” has been generating significant buzz since its completion in July 2024.

    The announcement was made at the FilmOne Exhibitors Showcase in Lagos, where Toyin Abraham shared her excitement for the film’s upcoming release.

    Actress and producer Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi is basking in the success of her latest film, “Alakada Bad and Boujee,” which has ranked fifth among the highest-grossing movies of 2024, with a box office haul of over N200 million. 

    In a celebratory post, Toyin Abraham expressed her heartfelt gratitude to her fans for their unwavering support, which enabled her to achieve this remarkable milestone in a record-breaking 11 days. 

    With her eyes firmly fixed on the future, Toyin Abraham is already gearing up for an even bigger and stronger 2025. 

    She emphasised that 2024 was all about pushing boundaries, breaking records, and reaching new heights, leaving no room for distractions or petty conversations.

    Actresses and filmmakers Toyin Abraham and Mercy Aigbe have expressed their disappointment over some cinemas not showing their latest movies.

    Mercy Aigbe apologised to her fans on social media, revealing that some cinemas were not screening her movie “Thinline” despite having scheduled showtimes.

    She assured her fans that she is working to resolve the issue.

    “Good morning beautiful people, I have been getting a lot of complaints about some cinemas not showing Thinline despite having showtimes. Please, I want to apologise. We are working on it, and hopefully, this will be resolved soon,” she wrote.

    Similarly, Toyin Abraham celebrated her movie “Alakada Bad and Boujee” hitting N134 million in cinemas, but also expressed disappointment that it was not being shown in many cinemas and the screen time allocated to her film is discouraging. 

    She thanked her fans for their support and expressed gratitude for their loyalty.

    In contrast, Funke Akindele’s movie “Everybody Loves Jenifa” continues to dominate the box office, grossing over $190,000 in the diaspora within eight days of its premiere, in addition to N783 million in Nigeria.

    Akindele celebrated the success on Instagram, thanking her cast, colleagues, and fans for their support.

    Actress Toyin Abraham has expressed her gratitude and excitement after her latest movie, “Alakada: Bad and Boujee,” broke her previous box office record.

    According to Toyin, her previous year’s record showed N52 million in earnings after seven days, while this year’s movie has already grossed N134 million within the same timeframe, representing a 157.69% increase.

    Toyin attributed her success to her God, expressing her gratitude for helping her achieve this feat.

    She also thanked her fans, cinemas, and everyone who has supported her movie.

    In her post, Toyin wrote, “God of my journey, thank you. I am grateful that you helped me beat my last record! I am my own competition!

    Last year, I made 52m after seven days; this year, I made 134M after seven days. That is over a 157.69% increase. God, I am that woman who returns to say thank you.

    Filmmaker and actress Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi has addressed the controversy surrounding a recent social media post, which some fans interpreted as a subtle dig at her colleagues, Funke Akindele and Mercy Aigbe. 

    The controversy arose after Toyin shared a statement appreciating her fans for supporting her movie, “Alakada: Bad and Boujee.”

    In her post, she wrote, “Without expecting a gift or inducement at the box office to buy our tickets, you’ve stood by us, and we are deeply grateful.” 

    Clarifying the intent of her message, Toyin explained that it was directed at expressing gratitude to her fans who watched the movie without demanding giveaways or incentives.

    She disclosed that some fans had refused to see the film, citing reports of other actors hosting meet-and-greet events with additional perks to attract viewers.

    The actress concluded by reiterating her gratitude, emphasising the importance of her fans’ support in her career journey.

    She wrote on Instagram: “I have seen many messages suggesting that my post about the three-day box office performance of Alakada: Bad and Boujee was intended as shade.

    “Please, that is not true. I am genuinely appreciative of those who have been watching the movie in cinemas without receiving any gifts.

    “People hosting meet-and-greet events for me have been coming back with feedback that some people are asking for gifts before watching the movie, while some are watching without asking for any incentives.

    “The movie itself is a gift of love and hard work and is packed with quality entertainment. Therefore, reaching the milestone of ₦58 million in sales in just three days is a true testament to the love and support of those to whom I couldn’t give anything.

    “Thanking them sincerely is my goal, not shading anyone, and once again, thank you for seeing my movie.”

    Although she didn’t mention names, actresses Funke Akindele and Mercy Aigbe have been known to offer gifts to fans at cinema screenings.

    She wrote on Instagram: “With an overwhelming outpouring of love, kindness, and compassion from fans all across the country, we were able to make this as our opening weekend figure. Thank you for watching and supporting us.
