He said Natasha must appear before the House standing committee on Ethics and Privileges within a week to defend her self in respect of a case of misconduct.

    Let Tuface breathe

Sir: When Tuface Idibia, also called Tubaba, announced that he and Annie Idibia were heading for divorce, social media exploded. Tongues wagged, people took sides. Some stood firmly behind Annie, expressing sympathy and solidarity. Others shrugged and said, “If moving on brings Tuface peace, why not?”

Then came the unexpected twist — Tuface publicly declared his love for Honourable Natasha, and soon after, news of their engagement surfaced. Just like that. In a world full of surprises, this one still managed to shake many.

Growing up, celebrity divorces were almost routine — a normal feature in entertainment gossip columns. And it’s not just celebrities. Divorce rates globally, and even here in Nigeria, have been on a steady rise. The reasons? Plenty.

Once upon a time, marriage was seen as “for better or worse.” Couples were conditioned to stay, regardless of hardship, betrayal, or even danger. But times have changed. Today, people are walking away from unions that no longer serve their peace or purpose. Sometimes it’s for a just cause — abuse, infidelity, toxicity. Other times, it’s over issues that could’ve been resolved with more patience and understanding. Either way, the mind-set has shifted.

Technology has not helped matters. Social media, movies, influencers — all play a role in shaping how we think and feel about relationships. Unrealistic expectations, glorified versions of love, and constant comparison have led many to dissatisfaction in their real lives. We are all influenced, whether we admit it or not. So we must guard what we feed our minds.

Then there’s the harsh reality of economic hardship. Nigeria’s economic woes have strained many marriages. Some men have abandoned their homes, unable to bear the financial pressure. Some women have walked away, frustrated and overwhelmed. Instead of judging, we should be humble and prayerful. As a former Nigerian governor once wisely said, “May your loyalty not be tested.” No one knows how they’ll react until they’re truly under intense pressure.

So, back to Tubaba. Why won’t we let him breathe? Calling him an “old man who suddenly found love” is unfair. The man is only 49. Those criticizing his choices forget that love is personal. Beauty, after all, is in the eye of the beholder. Just because you wouldn’t pick her doesn’t mean he shouldn’t. Let’s also not pretend like Tuface is doing anything wildly different. He’s not suddenly all over the place — we’re just paying more attention because he’s trending.

He’s a grown man. A music legend. An adult fully capable of making decisions about his own life. And even if you don’t agree with his choices, remember: you don’t know the full story. We rarely do.So, let’s leave Tubaba alone. Let him live. Love who he wants. Heal how he chooses.

    • Family petitions DSS, claims he’s been missing since Feb 10
    • Mother begs Edo lawmaker Osawaru to ‘free’ him
    • Singer proposes to new lover days after separation from wife

Nigerian music star, Innocent Ujah Idibia, also known as 2Baba or Tuface Idibia, has been in the news since he quit his 12 years old marriage with Annie Macaulay about 17 days ago.

The singer had on January 27, 2025 announced separation from Annie, saying they were both awaiting divorce.

The 49-year-old singer, who made the announcement via his verified Instagram account, noted that he and Annie had been separated for a while. Although he did not give details of the cause of their impending divorce, he promised to release a detailed press statement on the issue much later.

He said: “Hello to my beautiful people of all federations. Well, this thing I have to say is short but also long. Annie Macaulay and I have been separated for a while and have filed for divorce,” he said.

“I would grant a press release soon to say my story—not because it is anyone’s right to know about my personal life, but because I love my people, and I need them to know my innocence or offence.

“Stay blessed, my people. I love you all.”

The import of Tuface’s announcement of separation from Annie had barely sunk in when the news filtered that the singer is romantically involved with the Deputy Majority Leader of Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Natasha Osawaru. It was, however, quickly discarded by Osawaru’s media aide, who described it as a figment of the writer’s imagination.

While many were still wondering about the veracity of the story or otherwise, 2baba surprised his fans with another announcement, maintaining his impending divorce from Annie. In the same video, he professed love to Hon. Osawaru and went on to create a stir in the Edo State House of Assembly during the week.

A day after the stir, a video of Tuface and Hon. Osawaru surfaced online. The viral video had the singer and Ms Osawaru dancing together inside a house, surrounded by friends.

The short video also captured him performing a song before presenting a ring to the lawmaker.

Although Hon. Natasha neither accepted the ring nor gave a response to 2Baba’s gesture, they both shared a long embrace.

But if Tuface was having fun cuddling Natasha, it was nothing for the musician’s mother, Rose Idibia, to cheer about. Rather, she alleged in a video that Hon Osawaru had cast a spell on her son.

The singer’s mother claimed he was not in his right senses when he proposed to the 30-year-old lawmaker and pleaded with her to release him. And in a move that seemed to reinforce Madam Idibia’s claims, the singer’s family yesterday filed a petition with the State Security Services (SSS), declaring him missing.

The petition signed by Wilson Anuge on behalf of Anuge, Anuge & Co. reads: “We are writing to urgently seek your assistance regarding a profoundly troubling situation involving a member of the Idibia Family, Mr Innocent Idibia (also known as Tuface or 2Baba) who our client reasonably believe may be missing since Monday 10 February, 2025.

“We believe that Mr Innocent left his residence in the early hours of 10 February 2025 in his loungewear, suggestive that he was going on his habitual walk, but never returned home since then.

“Despite the best efforts of members of his family, his staff and management of his record label to reach or locate him, including reaching out to his friends and acquaintances, they have been unable to establish any contact or ascertain his whereabouts.”

“By reason of his celebrity status, it’s established protocol for Mr Innocent to be accompanied by protective guards wherever he goes. However, on the day he was last seen, he left his residence unaccompanied by his protective guards, his Personal Assistant, or any of his staff.

“This disturbing discovery and the fact that those who ought to hear from him have not heard from him for over 72 hours left his entire family deeply concerned.

“Mr Innocent is a responsible individual, a family man and a dedicated artist who is very passionate about his art and often dedicates the better part of his time to songwriting, recording, and other studio-related activities.

“He’s never gone missing before, nor has he ever abandoned his work for such protracted hours.”

In another breath, the Idibia family claimed that the singer’s sudden disappearance suggests he may have been abducted.

“These messages are alarming, as Mr Innocent is financially independent and has never required assistance in such a manner.

“This has led his family to suspect that his identity may have been compromised and that someone may have abducted him and is actively manipulating him to exploit his contacts for monetary gain.

“Adding to the family’s distress are the calls from several of his close friends that have received messages from what appears to be his social media account, soliciting financial assistance.

“The implications of this situation are grave, and the possibility of foul play and coercion cannot be overlooked.

“As a family, our clients are deeply worried not only about his physical safety but also about the potential misuse of his identity while he remains unaccounted for.

“In light of the above, I earnestly request the intervention of the Department of State Services to assist in locating Mr Innocent.

“Our humble request is that you intervene urgently to investigate, locate and rescue the victim from wherever the suspect is currently detaining him.

“We anticipate your unalloyed cooperation in this regard.

“It is worthy of note that the victim is a legend and holds a celebrity status in the Nigerian music industry, and whom countless youths and citizens emulate, not to mention the victim’s wife, children, relations and employees who have become traumatised, and his musical empire which is now rendered comatose as a direct consequence of the suspect’s criminal act of abducting the victim and rendering him incommunicado.”

Annie has remained silent since the announcement.

Drug abuse, infidelity rock Tuface Idibia’s 12-year-old marriage to Annie

All is definitely unwell with the 12-year-old marriage of accomplished and highly decorated music star, Innocent ‘2Baba’ Idibia and Annie Idibia.

The couple, it was gathered, have been managing a storm in their marriage of over 12 years but have also been able to manage the situation.

In 2019, the couple had a meltdown where 2Baba went on his social media account to share apologies for allegedly cheating on Annie but the messages were deleted and the Afropop singer claimed his account was hacked and nothing was wrong with his marriage.

However, shortly after the meltdown, another rumour was quickly spread around that the father of seven had put a banker in a family way. The rumour was quickly shut down by his management team and denied by 2Baba himself.

Few weeks ago, the rumour mill had been agog with tales of Annie battling to stay off substance abuse. A TV series, Rich, Famous, and African, which features Annie and Tuface alongside other African celebs further gave life to the rumour of substance abuse as fans and social media users wondered if Annie is truly battling with substance abuse and addiction.

Over the weekend, as the rumour of Annie’s alleged addiction and substance abuse continued to spread like a wild inferno, a video of Tuface confirming a separation and an impending divorce surfaced online.

The video and Instagram post by the African Queen singer claimed he had separated from Annie and both of them are working towards a divorce. After some hours, the videos and social media posts were deleted.

Subsequently, popular show presenter and celebrity, Toke Makinwa, allegedly took a swipe at someone, who has been reported to be Tuface, for deciding to leave or announce their separation at Annie’s lowest time.

It was further alleged by an online platform that Annie is currently in a very bad state and allegedly currently in a rehabilitation centre.

  • Edo COSON threatens to drag Tuface manager before Benin Monarch

Members of the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) have threatened to drag the manager of Tuface Idibia, Mr. Efe Omorogbe before the Benin Monarch, Oba Ewuare II for engaging in conduct that negates the culture of Edo people and the creative community.

The COSON members said the decision to drag Omorogbe before the Benin Monarch was for him to be called to order and appropriate sanctions imposed on him.

Speaking at a press briefing in Benin City, Chief Arala Osula, the Osula of Benin, urged Omorogbe to stop parading himself as the Chairman of the Governing Board of COSON.

Chief Osula said they only recognised Chief Tony Okoroji as Chairman of COSON and not Omorogbe.

Reading a letter addressed to Omorogbe by the Edo CUSON, Chief Osula stated that their grouse against Omorogbe was because they felt the support and contributions of Okoroji.

The letter reads in parts, “It is unfortunate that given your position of visibility as the manager of Tuface Idibia, no one in the state as felt you impact in any way.

“While you purport to come from Edo State, we do not know you because you always go around with your nose in the air.

“We are shocked that despite our clear democratic choice of Chief Okoroji as COSON chairman, you have mischievously and fraudulently continued to parade yourself as Chairman of COSON. Your behaviour is contrary to the norms and culture of the great people of Edo State.”
