    Tuface Idibia warms up for commemorative album

    TEN years after he hit the music scene with his debut album, Face to Face, on Kennis Music, multi-award winning singer, Tuface Idibia, is set to mark his 10th anniversary with a collaborative album.

    In a recent interview, the sensational singer revealed that he would be involved in a lot of artistic works after the launch of his latest album, The Ascension.

    “There is an album I’m going to release and it is called Rewind, Select and Update. This is going to be like a re-make of some of my old songs. It is 10 years since Face to Face came out and so Kennis Music and Hypertek Entertainment are about to do a 10- year anniversary about that album. Then, Tuface Foundation will be partnering with NDI. We starting a campaign called Votes not Fight and this is to sensitise the youth for the forthcoming 2015 elections. We are saying that violence during election is like betraying your own future,” the artiste revealed.

    2015: Tuface Idibia flags off Vote Not Fight campaign

    As part of initiatives to ensure a hitch-free electoral process in 2015, Tuface Foundation, in partnership with Young Stars Foundation, National Democratic Institute (NDI) and other partner organisations, has flagged off the Vote Not Fight, Election No Be War campaign.

    The campaign, as revealed by the management of the Foundation at a press conference last Tuesday in Lagos, is an initiative championed by multi-award winning star, Tuface Idibia, and is targeted primarily at the youth.

    In addition, the project’s theme music recorded by Tuface Idibia as part of the Million Voices for Peace (MVP) project and a public service announcement video by the BBC Media Action to sensitise the electorate on the need to Vote Not Fight were unveiled at the event.

    However, the highlight of the launch was the signing of the pledge by Tuface Idibia, Henry ‘K Slim’ Kosiso, a Now Muzik artiste and collaborator on the MVP Break the Silence single, Ms. Ransome-Kuti and EiE’s Yemi Adamolekun, among others.

    Other partners on the Vote Not Fight, Election No Be War campaign include the Enough Is Enough (EIE) Coalition, Isa Wali Empowerment Initiative, Development Initiative For African Women, Hip TV, The Bridge Youth Development Foundation, One Life Initiative for Human Development and The Bridge Yout

    Tuface Idibia to headline Road to AFRIMA 2014

    Some October 15, all roads will lead to the Indoor Sport Hall of the University of Lagos, Akoka, venue of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) and launch of ‘Vote Not Fight’.

    The event will feature many of Nigeria’s finest artistes, as Nigeria hosts this year’s concert.

    According to the organisers, multi-award winning singer, Tuface Idibia will headline the event which will be anchored by comedian Gbenga Adeyinka 1st, an alumnus of the university.

    Other Nigerian artistes scheduled to perform at the event are Skales, Neato C, Jaywon, Dammy krane, Niyola, Zeez, Eedris Abdulkareem, Tony One Week, Queen Moda and Saeon, among others.

    Mike Dada, the Executive Producer of the concert, thanked the artistes whom he said had “shown passion and commitment in supporting AFRIMA events with their talents and professional services for the benefits of the image and perception of Africa.”

    He further revealed that the main award ceremony would take place on the November 9, in Lagos, adding that voting continues in the 32 categories of the Awards until November l 4.

    According to Dada, the event will be preceded by the AFRIMA music village show between November 4 and 7.

    The theme of the four-day of festival of non-stop music and exhibition of African music summit on November 6 and 7 is: ‘Reviving the Business of Music in Africa”.

    The two-day conference, he explained, will be a platform for the music industry stakeholders to engage and deliberate on how the industry can be nurtured, while also becoming a major contributor to national and continental economies.

    Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as 2face Idibia turned 39th on Thursday September, 18. 2baba, as he is fondly called, is undoubtedly one of Nigeria’s greatest legends of all time, as his music has cut across borders. Mr. Idibia, whose music career began about 2 decades ago has featured several international artistes such as Fally Ipupa, Mary J. Blige, Wyclef Jean, T. Pain, R. Kelly and so on.

    He is one of the most decorated and successful Afro pop artistes in Africa. He is the most marketable artistes in Africa.

    2face has received several music awards, which include the MTV Europe Music Award, World Music Award, The Headies (Hip Hop Award), Channel O Music Award, BET Award, MTV Africa Music Award (MAMA) and many others.

    As he marked his birthday recently, many of his fans spoke about him and his contributions to the Nigeria music industry.

    Tuface, Wizkid to headline Hennessy Artistry 2014

    INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed superstars, Tuface Idibia and Wizkid, have been revealed as this year’s Hennessy Artistry headliners.

    The two talents, who are widely known for monster hits and ground-breaking music videos, will join the league of iconic talents who have headlined Hennessy Artistry in the past years.

    This year’s theme represents a blend of the matured, premium lifestyle and the young, vibrant lifestyle, which is generally classified as ‘new school’, according to the management of Hennessy.

    “Great things. Eau de vie… We are getting it this year,” Tuface exclaimed at the recent photo shoot for the headliners.

    Tuface and Wizkid will release their first ever collabo track for Hennessy Artistry this month.

    “I’m really privileged to be working with a legend on Hennessy Artistry… This year is going to rock,” Wizkid also said at the photo shoot.

    As with every year, a selection of talented up- and-coming acts will join 2Face and Wizkid on the Artistry train. The supporting acts will be announced later this month before the club tour kicks off.

    Since Hennessy Artistry was first unveiled in Nigeria in 2007, Hennessy Cognac has remained the world’s leading cognac brand setting very high standards for other brands to follow.

    Icon Weekly begs Tuface

    Icon Weekly, a Nigerian soft-sell publication, has retracted its story concerning sensational pop singer, Tuface Idibia, who was alleged to have been involved in an adultery mess.

    In March, the weekly magazine literally sparked off some controversies when it reported that one Teniola, a Lagos-based banker and graduate of the University of Lagos, Akoka, was pregnant for the award-winning music superstar.

    In its reaction, 960 Music Group, Tuface Idibia’s management, released a statement refuting the report.

    Obviously miffed, the artiste later sued the publication for N100 million.

    However, as the publishers of the magazine seemed to desire an out-of-court settlement, they wrote a letter of apology to the artiste’s management.

    Upon receipt of the letter, Tuface Idibia’s management released it online for public consumption.

    The letter reads in parts: “On behalf of the Management of Tegs Icon Ventures, publishers of Icon Weekly Magazine, I write in respect of our publication of (Vol. 01 No. 09) March 3, 2014 alleging that you were involved in an adultery mess with a Lagos banker.

    “We admit that we failed to verify the source or contact your team (960 Media Group) for a response before printing the fabricated story. We have since discovered that the story was( false) and regret the embarrassment it has caused you and your family.

    “We regret the indiscretion and hereby sincerely apologise for our errors as our reporter was completely misinformed.

    “We hope you would accept our apology and forgive us.”

    Celebrated Nigerian singer Tuface Idibia was, at the weekend, decorated by the Red Cross Society of Nigeria as its brand ambassador.

    The ceremony took place at a press conference to announce a partnership between the artiste’s Million Voices for Peace campaign and the Red Cross Society of Nigeria.

    According to the pop singer, the partnership is to raise awareness and mobilise support for people who are affected by violence in Nigeria.

    By this endorsement, Idibia joins the list of renowned celebrities who have shown commitment in speaking up for some of the world’s most vulnerable groups.

    Lagos zonal programme officer for Red Cross Society of Nigeria, Mr Umoh, who commented on the initiative, noted that Tuface’s feat would inspire others to show more commitment in supporting ongoing peace efforts in the country, while mobilising support in support of affected victims of conflict in Nigeria.

    “Today we take a big step in improvising the plight of internally displaced persons in Nigeria through our partnership with the Nigerian Red Cross Society. My colleagues and I have followed closely the humanitarian efforts of the Red Cross society and I must confess that we are inspired and excited at the chance to support this cause,” Tuface said.

    The singer’s pet project, The Million Voices for Peace, is a campaign running under the umbrella of the Tuface Idibia Reach-out Foundation.

    2face’s dad diagnosed with cancer

    Nigeria’s music icon, Innocent 2face Idibia has announced that his father has reportedly been diagnosed with prostate cancer. The artiste allegedly divulged the news at the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy (CECP) cancer charity event which held on June 8 at Eko Hotels and Suites.
    Information has it that the cancer is said to be in its early stages and the singer’s 67-year-old father is reportedly due to begin chemotherapy soon.
    At the event tagged Banquet of Stars against Cancer (BOSAC) 2Face was joined by other A-list Artistes and one of Africa’s greatest music Maestro, Sir Emeka Nwokedi, the conductor of the Lagos City Chorale in a performance by the Choir and Orchestra of the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON).
    The benefit event served as an opportunity to raise funds in support of the war against cancer in Nigeria.

    Tuface Idibia issues notice on Crazy Love

    NIGERIAN Hip pop sensation, Tuface Idibia, has issued a notice for the song, Crazy Love, warning against a potential infringement of copyright.

    Currently being circulated on the Internet, the song, which was composed and sung by one Ewa, purportedly features Tuface.

    Describing the song as an illegal manipulation and super-imposition on Tuface’s unreleased song titled Could This Be Love, the artiste’s management said that Tuface did not feature in any song composed by Ewa.

    In a statement, the management team said: “This odious and fraudulent act is not only condemnable, but it is an assault to the integrity of the entertainment industry, which thrives on creativity and hard work. In particular, the act is an infringement of Tuface’s right under the Copyright Act Cap C28, LFN 2004 and we shall employ the full force of law to enforce the breach of his reproduction, publishing, performance, communication rights which have been breached.”

    The statement further stated that any person who performs or causes the song to be performed “shall also be guilty of infringement under the Copyright Act and we shall not hesitate to bring the full weight of law to bear on the person.”

    Sensational Hip hop act Tuface Idibia has  joined in the call for the release of the abducted Chibok girls with a new song titled Break The Silence .

    The award-wining act features Sound Sultan, Essence, Joe El and Machel Montano, among others, in the song.

    Idibia, who is currently in France, said: “The call for the safe return of the Chibok Girls and real work towards peace-building must be sustained. This is just another step in the journey towards the promotion of peace and unity in our nation and the world.”

    The song, which is reported to be under the Tuface Idibia’s Million Voices for Peace (MVP) project, has been recorded to articulate the call for peace and unity, while raising funds to support the work of the Nigerian Red Cross.
