    I grew up around D’Banj, Mo’Hits records – Wizkid

    Award-winning singer, Wizkid has revealed that he once lived with a senior colleague, D’Banj and the entire Mo’ Hits crew.

    Wizkid opened up in a throwback video that it happened during his early music days.

    In the video that emerged online, Wizkid stated that he grew up around D’Banj and Mo’ Hits, now Mavin Records, during that era.

    The singer described them as family and gave a big shout-out to the entire Mo’ Hits record; D’Banj, Don Jazzy, Wande Coal, Dr. Sid and D’Prince.

    He prayed for God’s blessings upon them, describing them as a really strong team that did a lot for African music.

    DJ Tunez, Wizkid’s personal disc jockey,  has revealed several interesting things about the Grammy singer from surprising lifestyle choices to rare allergies.

    According to DJ Tunez,  the singer is taller in real life than he appears on the screen.

    He emphasised the simplicity that resonates through every aspect of Wizkid’s life, highlighting his grounded nature and down-to-earth approach.

    He stated that unknown to many, Wizkid has an intriguing allergy to milk.

    DJ Tunez also revealed that Wizkid dislikes cold temperatures, stating that when exposed to excessive air conditioning, the renowned musician actively seeks to lower the temperature.

    Speaking in a recent interview with Clout Africa, DJ Tunez said: “Three things that you might not know about Wizkid: he is tall in real life, his life is very simple, and he doesn’t take milk, he’s lactose intolerant.

    “Wizkid doesn’t like to be cold, If the AC is too much, he will ask people to cool it down.”

    Talented singer BNXN formerly known as Buju has opened up on friendship with colleague, Wizkid and how he felt before they met.

    On Morning Runs with Naija 102.7 FM, BNXN asserted that even though he doesn’t know what he used to achieve, Wizkid always replies to him.

    He also said he doesn’t know how many friends Wizkid has but the singer goes as far as apologising if he delays in replying to his messages.

    Before he met the “Essence” hit maker, he always thought that he wasn’t a human being, but a spirit.

    Wizkid has an amazing talent, says Duncan Mighty

    Singer Duncan Mighty has showered encomium on colleague Wizkid following his unique music style.

    In a recent interview with the hosts of a show known as ‘Big Convo’, the singer said Wizkid can turn any song into a hit.

    “Wizkid has an amazing talent, he’s got ears to know if a song would be a hit, he knows how to arrange recordings to make a hit.

    “People think production is the only element that makes a song a hit, not at all. Arrangement is important and Starboy(Wizkid) has mastered that talent. He knows what lines should be made the chorus and what lines should be the hook,” the singer added.

    Duncan Mighty also expressed his happiness over working with Wizkid and how he learned so much from the experience, the duo is credited for the 2018 hit song, ‘Fake Love’.

    Duncan Mighty gave some advice to singers who rely on music labels and management for the identification of hit songs.

    “If you want to know a hit, record a song and take it to the streets. Let random people who are not in the industry listen to it. Watch their response and then you’ll have your answer,” he said.

    The singer also revealed an upcoming album is underway and he will be  collaborating with Wizkid, Burna Boy, Patoranking, Stonebwoy, amongst others.

    According to him, being underestimated is his biggest motivation and energy to fire on.

    I’m not an afrobeats singer, says Wizkid

    Singer Ayodeji Balogun popularly known as Wizkid has slammed critics who floored him for claiming he is not an afrobeat artist.

    The Nation reported that the renowned singer came under fire after he denounced being labelled as an afrobeats artist. 

    Wizkid recently posted a message to his trolls telling them to stop being uneducated and foolish all the time and to Google and do some research or explore the world.

    He took his time to justify his remarks, claiming that despite being African, he creates a wide range of excellent music and will not only be categorised as an afrobeat musician.

    His words: “U lost people always want someone to educate you. U got your phone Google research shit or take a flight and see the world don’t be ignorant and stupid all the time. Listen, am I African ?

    ” Yes! But I do make all sorts of music. Fine music! But I don’t want these labeled just afrobeats. That’s like saying every American artiste makes rap. That’s stupid. This is why no matter how good or amazing the music we make be it RnB or whatever other genre, we all get nominated in one Africa category or the other. I’ve made songs from different genres of music. Made in Lagos is not an ” “Afrobeats album. Thats a fusion of different sounds. Real music! 

    “The word afrobeats was made up by y’all to put all we make into one box. Fela created afrobeat!! I make All sorts of music. Fusion of sounds! “I’m a artiste” before anything else.. True to my art. Not scared to try sh!t. Now y’all drink some milk!”

    Wizkid denounces being an afrobeats singer, hints on new album title

    Grammy-winning singer, Ayodeji Balogun popularly known as Wizkid has denounced being an Afrobeat artist.

    In a series of posts on his Instagram story, while announcing his new album, titled ‘Morayo’, Wizkid cautioned Nigerians against categorising him as an Afrobeat artist as he also warns bloggers against posting his new album.

    Wizkid further read the riot acts as he informed those who fell in love with him during the Pakurumo era to refrain from downloading his new album.

    For those who love Afrobeat, he also told them not to download his album.

    Wizkid went on to brag about his wealth as he claimed he was richer than all.

    He said: “Album done! See you soon b!tches! Lion richer than u niggas lol And pls abeg if u like Pakurumo Wizkid don’t download this new album. In fact, delete me from your playlist and your life! And if you like Afrobeat pls don’t download my album!

    “I am not a f3cking Afrobeat artiste! Don’t call me that hoe! I am not Afro anything b!tch! Album named “oMoaya” best ever made! Now everybody fuck off! 1 more all u Naija blogs or media don’t post my shit when it drops! Una papa!.”

    Controversial singer, Dammy Krane, has claimed that he retains the authority to apprehend his colleague, Wizkid over a 2016 incident at a Lagos club, where Wizkid allegedly attacked him with a bottle. 

    He revisited the matter during a heated exchange with a Wizkid fan on X after the fan challenged him for claiming that Portable was now more talented than his favourite artist.

    Commenting on Krane’s claims, the netizen wrote: “They go soon break another bottle for your head no worry. Fool.

    Replying, Dammy Krane wrote: “Them no born am well, if not for Shina Peller & Obagoal, I would have locked up Wiz; which I still can do if the need arises, Jit threw glass cup in my section in Quilox then ran away to hide in Shina Peller’s office & beg me lol Wiz know say Men for enter am; R.I.P 44.”

    Grammy-winning artist, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun popularly known as Wizkid has opened up on his relationship with his fellow superstar Burna Boy in a throwback video.

    Labeling their connection as family, Wizkid delved into the behind-the-scenes of their collaboration during the creation of Burna Boy’s acclaimed album, “African Giant.”

    Recalling the genesis of their friendship, Wizkid disclosed their crossed paths while Burna Boy was working on his groundbreaking album, African Giant.

    He highlighted the special connection that ignites creativity, pointing out the chemistry between them in the studio.

    Fuji musician, Remi Aluko, has stated that Grammy-winning artist, Ayo Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, changed the Nigerian music industry in terms of the music economy and boosted replay value.

    Aluko made this known in a recent podcast interview with Echo Room.

    According to the Fuji star, Nigerian songs were usually lengthy before the ‘Essence’ crooner ventured into the music industry and changed the norm by releasing shorter songs.

    Remi Aluko said other artists followed suit when they saw that Wizkid’s recording method bloated song replay value.

    He said: “Wizkid did something in the Nigerian music industry, and I picked up from there. Back then, a song used to last for five or four minutes. But go and check now, Wizkid is the one that changed the method of music so that you don’t need to waste music.

    “He changed the method of recording in Nigeria. He will bring the chorus and after that, he will just give you like 16 bars and after that, he will go back to the chorus. If you love the music, you play it again.”
