  • Buhari, Osinbajo have done well, says VP’s Mum

    Mrs. Olubisi Osinbajo, Mother of the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, on Thursday said that President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration had done enough and deserved another term.

    Mrs Osinbajo, an 85 -year-old widow, disclosed this when his son, Prof. Osinbajo, visited her during the vice president’s house-to-house campaign in Somolu area of Lagos State.

    “They have tried. If anybody says they have not done anything, then you can say that man or woman is not in this world, such is in another world because they have tried.

    “What they (Buhari/Osinbajo) did in three years, people couldn’t do it for 16 years. We are praising God and we shall praise God after the elections.

    Mrs Osinbajo thanked God for sparing the life of his son, following the helicopter crash in Kogi on Saturday.

    “I am overwhelmed with this visit and I must thank God for everything that He is doing in my life.

    “Do you know that on Thursday (Jan. 31), I was busy thanking God and praising God. I didn’t know what was going to happen on Saturday (When Osinbajo Helicopter crashed in Kogi).

    ” I, have been praising God and I told my people I wanted to praise God on that Thursday until evening of that day not knowing that something would happen on Saturday.

    “That gift was given to me by Jesus Christ that I should be praising Him and that I will never be sorrowful. That was what God told me,” Mrs Osinbajo said.

    The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Osinbajo on Thursday moved his house-to-house campaign to Somolu to feel the pulse of the residents and seek support of the people for Buhari’s re-election.

    The Vice President, who visited some houses in Gbagada, Igi Olugbin and Ladi Lak areas of Solmolu, also engaged in “Road Show” on some streets to seek support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates.

    Osinbajo was companied by APC chieftains, including Sen. Anthony Adefuye, Ademorin Kuye, APC candidate for Somolu Federal Constituency and Rotimi Abiru, APC candidate for Lagos State House of Assembly, Somolu Constituency II.

    The team also visited the Palace of Oba of Somolu, Oba H.O.A Kassim-Bashua (Odu I).

  • Buhari, Osinbajo under divine protection, says APC

    All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice Yemi Osinbajo are enjoying divine protective shield from God.

    The party added that the divine protection has was responsible for the Osinbajo’s narrow escape from death.

    Patron, Buhari Campaign Organisation Mallam Yakub Gobir said this in Afon, Asa local government area of Kwara state at a sensitization rally, adding that the duo and all other candidates of APC would emerge victorious in the forthcoming elections.

    Gobir added that “in terms of previous elections I will say our preparedness is at the highest point it has never been. So we are prepared.”

    On the reception accorded his team, the Wazirn Hausa said: “The reception is fantastic. This is not my first time of coming to Asa.

    This local government is very important. This is the first local government that results would be announced.

    “The second thing is that it is a very rural local government in Kwara central and there are great distances between polling units.

    “People had to travel between seven and eight kilometers to get to their polling units. From previous elections, historically Asa local government is where a lot of rigging and electoral malpractices take place, because it is remote and hard to reach.

    “People are able to do a lot of manipulation. That is why in our preparedness to end campaigns for the forthcoming elections, I have chosen that the council is a key area. The people you are seeing here today will make Victory happen in this month’s election. We will deliver victory to President Buhari beyond his expectations and also for all other APC candidates.

    “I therefore plead with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agents to pay special attention to INEC.

    “INEC in the state to let the elections to be free and fair. People’s will should be allowed to prevail.”

    Also APC Kwara central senatorial chair Abdullateef Alakawa said that APC has become a movement in the state.

    “It is very obvious that APC is very well prepared to win the elections in the state. APC is not just a political party in Kwara central, it has become a movement.

    “That is why there is serious mobilisation of our people. Our people are enthusiastic and very much at alert for the monumental transformation that will happen in the state.

    Our people are ready to effect a change from a situation of stagnation to progress. They are ready to do that through a democratic process.

    “This local government is an integral part of Kwara central. Come February 16 that readiness of our people will manifest for the epoch making event of changing government and reaffirming their support, belief and confidence in the party and its leadership at the national level and in bringing a true government of change to our state.

  • 3,000 food vendors in Oyo declare support for Buhari/Osinbajo

    No fewer than 3,000 food vendors in Oyo State have declared their support for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari.

    The vendors had on Wednesday staged a peaceful rally in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, to declare their support for Buhari and his vice, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.

    The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the food vendors, drawn from the 33 Local Government Areas in the state, were those under the Federal Government Home Grown School Feeding Programme.

    Mrs Toyosi Ajobo, the State Coordinator, said they decided to endorse and declare their support for Buhari, having measured the impact of the feeding programme on their lives and their children.

    “We want to say to President Muhammadu Buhari that we are so grateful and we wish him good health. We, the food vendors in Oyo state, are so grateful for his kind gesture.

    “As parents, we got the job to take care of our families and it is also good for our children from Primary 1 to 3.

    “The number of school children is increasing and they are all happy staying in school as they eat free food.

    “With all these, we are sure that Mr President wants progress for all Nigerians. With this food, children come to school early and even stay in school. We are grateful, as parents and as the vendors,” she said.

    Ajobo also noted that the Buhari-led administration had done well in the area of agriculture, another reason for which the vendors were supporting the president’s second term bid.

    “Agriculture is improving. Before now, when farmers have excess produce, what they fail to sell end up as waste, which often discourage them from farming.

    “But when the Federal Government started this initiative, farming has gone to another level and all farm produce are now in abundance and selling fast.

    “We patronise the farmers and poultry producers who are always happy for creating the market to help mop up their farm produce. We are grateful to PMB for the efforts,” she said.

    She thanked Gov. Abiola Ajimobi for allowing the state to be part of the first batch to accept the programme, saying they are grateful and better for it.

    Mrs Bola Ajagbe, the State Financial Secretary of the group, expressed happiness that despite not being a politician or card-carrying member of any party, she was shortlisted to be a beneficiary of the scheme.

    According to her, the transparent and non-partisan nature of the selection of the vendors makes the initiative a truly national project in the interest of the people and the country as a whole.

    NAN reports that other road users suffered traffic gridlock as the vendors stormed the street with placards, singing various solidarity songs in support of Buhari.

  • Buhari to focus on three critical areas if re-elected – Osinbajo

    Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Monday said that President Muhammadu Buhari would focus on job creation for youths, power supply as well as provision of loans for Small and Medium Scale Enterprises and market women if re-elected in the Feb. 16 election.

    Osinbajo disclosed this during a courtesy visit to the Olota of Ota, Oba Adeyemi Obalanlege, in his palace in Ota.

    The vice president said the All Progressives Congress (APC) would also boost youth employment through the N-Power initiative.

    He also said the administration would improve on the nation’s power supply by giving more licenses to companies to supply transformers.

    “We observed that since the privatization of the power sector, most of the companies who bought into it do not have sufficient funds to provide transformers for Nigerians,” he said.

    Osinbajo further said that government would intensify efforts at providing more infrastructures, including good roads and efficient railway system.

    “The decay in infrastructural development can be traced to massive corruption of the past administration,” he said.

    He said that the country needed an honest and trustworthy leader like the president that would help the nation to attain sustainable development.

    In his response, Obalanlege thanked God for saving the life of the vice president in the helicopter crash on Saturday at Kabba, Kogi.

    Obalanlege appealed to the Federal Government to repair the Idiroko and Agbara roads linking Nigeria to some West African countries.

    “Some of the industries around Agbara axis where the Ogun government generates much of its revenue left because of the bad roads in the area,” he said.

    He further appealed to the Federal Government to erect a fly-over at Sango-Ota toll-gate.

    Obalanlege also urged the Federal Government to create an Awori Traditional Council to prevent marginalization of the Awori.

    He further appealed for political appointments for the Awori, expressing the belief   that some of their yearnings would be addressed through this.

  • Buhari, Osinbajo, others storm Ondo

    President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will on Monday visit Akure, the Ondo State capital.

    Already, Akure streets have been adorned with Buhari’s posters and bill boards from the Airport, Eleyewo running through Oba-Ile dual carriage way to Akure metropolis.

    Intermittent radio and television jingles are also on by various groups and individuals to sentisize residents oh Buhari’s visit.

    The president is expected to address APC faithful and his admirers at a campaign rally which will hold at the MKO Abiola democracy park in Akure, the state capital.

    The visit is in continuation of President Buhari’s campaign for second term in office.

    Ondo State Governor, Oluwatotimi Akeredolu is expected to receive Buhari and his entourage in Akure.

    During the visit, the President is expected to pay homage to the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladewusi at his palace in Akure and meet with some top members of the APC.

    Also expected in the entourage of the President are the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi and his Oyo and Osun States counterparts, Senator Abiola Ajimobi and Gboyega Oyetola respectively.

    The former Governor of Osun State, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, Director of Buhari campaign organization in the South West, Chief Olusola Oke, Minister of State for Niger Delta Development, Prof. Cladius Daramola are also expected to join the President.

  • Osinbajo enjoys God’s grace, says Osun monarch

    The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Adewale Akanbi, Telu I, has described the averted chopper mishap of the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, as a grace of God.

    He said Osibajo is a man enjoying the divine grace because of his a clean heart and passion for the survival of a peaceful and united Nigeria.

    In a statement by his press secretary, Mr. Alli Ibrahim, the Oluwo, who said only those serving with pure mind escape incidents of such magnitude, prayed for the vice president that he would continue to enjoy God’s favour in all fronts as he discharges his duties to the nation.

    Describing Osinbajo as an asset and factor in Nigeria, the first class traditional ruler further prayed that he would live long to render more service to the nation and humanity.

    He said: “I pray for God continued mercies on you and your aides. No evil shall befall you because you have a clean heart to support survival of a peaceful and united Nigeria. God will preserve your dear live to render more service to this great nation.

    “I am using the opportunity of my position as the representative of the almighty God on earth to arrest and re-direct all calamities on your way becaus you are His beloved.”

  • Crash: Ooni glorifies God over Osinbajo’s safety

    The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has glorified God for saving the lives of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and his aides who were involved in a helicopter mishap on Saturday.

    The Ooni expressed his feeling in a statement signed by Mr Moses Olafare, Director, Media and Public Affairs, Ooni’s Palace, Ile-Ife, which was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday.

    The helicopter in which the vice president and his aides were on a campaign tour crash-landed in Kaba, Kogi, on Saturday.

    Oba Ogunwusi said he rejoiced with all the survivors, their families, the Government and people of Nigeria over the rescue of the vice president and his aides.

    He urged all the politicians to remain unshaken by the incident and continue with their electioneering activities ahead of the Feb 16 and March 2 general elections.

    The royal father wished them Divine grace and protection before, during and after the elections.

    He also prayed for the country’s economic prosperity, security, political stability and peaceful coexistence among the people.

  • Crash: CAN felicitates with Osinbajo

    The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), on Sunday, facilitated with the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, for surviving an helicopter crash on Saturday in Kabba, Kogi. 

    The President, Rev. Samson Ayokunle, in a statement in Abuja, issued by his Special Assistant, Media and Communications, Pastor Adebayo Oladeji, also appreciated God for Osinbajo’s safety.

    “The leadership of CAN is grateful to God and rejoice with the Federal Government and Osinbajo. 

    “We give glory to God for sparing the life of the Vice President and his team from the helicopter crash while mobilising support for his party in preparation for the coming general elections,” he said. 

    The cleric recalled that the Vice President had similar experience  in 2018 while visiting the Nigeria Customs College in Gwagwalada, Abuja.

    “It is our prayers that God will continue to watch over him and other top government functionaries in Jesus’ Name,” he said. 

    Ayokunle urged the technical team or those responsible for the certification of the aircrafts and helicopters in the country used by the government officials to be more meticulous so as to avoid putting their lives in danger.

    “May God continue to watch over our nation, our leaders and its citizens in the name of Jesus,” he said. 

    The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that a statement by the Vice President Spokesperson, Laolu Akande, explained: “The Vice President, departed Abuja around 1p.m Saturday on a chopper ride to Kogi State in continuation of the Family Chats & Next Level engagements.

    “Prof. Osinbajo headed first to Kabba, and while landing at the Kabba Stadium, the helicopter suddenly skidded sideways until it halted on its side few metres away from the intended resting spot.

    “Alongside VP Osinbajo, the Minister of State for Labour and  Productivity, Prof. Stephen Ocheni, senior presidential aides, security officials and the crew; there were a total of 12 people on board. everyone came out safely after the incident.

    “The Vice President is continuing the planned engagements in Kogi State as scheduled.” (NAN) 

  • Crash: Osinbajo thanks Nigerians for their concern

    Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has expressed his appreciation for the concern shown by Nigerians over the crash of the Chopper carrying him at Kabba, Kogi State on Saturday.

    Osinbajo’s spokesman, Dr Laolu Akande, had earlier confirmed that the Chopper crashlanded but everyone was safe.

    Akande said that Osinbajo was already in Kabba and was continuing his community engagements in the state on the Next Level plan of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.

    Osinbajo thanked Nigerians via his verified Twitter handle @ProfOsinbajo.

  • Osinbajo helicopter crashes in Kabba

    A helicopter flying Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to Kogi State has crashlanded.

    The chopper crashed in Kabba in Kabba Local Government Area of the state.

    But no life was lost following the courage of the crew to manoeuvre it.

    The Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Vice President, Mr. Laolu Akande twitter at about 3.30pm

    Akande said: VP Osinbajo’s Chopper crash lands in Kabba, but he and the entire crew safe. He is continuing with his engagements and plans for the day in Kogi State.

    “We give all the glory to God, our able protector and commend all the Flight Crew officials for their service.

    “We are marching on for indeed we can do all things through Christ that strengthens us!”

    He did not give further details.
