The Yobe State 30 anniversary celebration will commence from August 23 2021. The Chairman of the Central Planning Committee who is also the Deputy Governor Idi Barde Gubana has said.
Gubana, who presided over the second meeting of the committee yesterday, said the state is set to organise a grand celebration as a way of showing gratitude to the Almighty Allah for seeing the state through thus far.
He noted that the anniversary will begin on August 23 2021 and will feature series of events and activities as a showcase of the rich cultural heritage of the state.
The displays will include Dubar traditional dances from different ethnic groups and tribes in the state, Emirs Bands from Emirates Councils across the state, among others.
Other activities lined up for the event, he added, include different musicians, comedians, inauguration of projects by former and present leaders of the state and outside the state as well as special prayers in churches and mosques across the state.
The Committee, which was inaugurated more than a week ago, is charged with the responsibility of organising an elaborate and special celebration that will be a showcase of the journey of the state from its creation up to date.
Governor Mai Mala Buni, at the inauguration of the committee disclosed that the state finds it very important to celebrate the day so as to show the progress and development the state has made in the last 30 years.
Yobe was created on August 27, 1991, and the state’s sporting arena is named August 27 Stadium.
