A Nigerian artiste, Lanre Olagoke has formed a big theatre troupe in London to help young Nigerian artistes to find their bearings. It is called Art Alive Arts Trust (AAAT). He has also extended it to form a runway group with which he and his group are making waves in England.
The Art Alive Arts Trust (AAAT) was formed in 1997 by Lanre Olagoke and registered as a charity in 2001, with the aim of helping children, adolescents and young adults find an opportunity to realise their potential and find their place in society through the use of art. Art Alive founder established Soho Arts Fair and The Big Soho Clean up in 2011 and 2013 which has taking the vision of the founder to a bigger and greater heights. Please also look out for The Open Door in December 2017. This is going to be a phenomenon. The Project is already taken shape.
AAAT employs the therapeutic and educational benefits of art tuition and works primarily with two groups:
Primary school children with behavioural, and or, learning difficulties and
Young vulnerable adults- unemployed, at risk of being homeless or even risk of offending.
The primary goal is to work with these individuals to provide them with life-skills and to help them secure work placements with arts organisations and other businesses in their community.
The Runway Group is a Platform for Youth Development and Creative Growth founded by Kojo Marfo. Over the last 6 years MRG, has championed Youth Excellence through exhibitions, initiatives, programmes, creative productions and workshops with organisations such as British Film Institute, Goldman Sachs, English National Opera amongst others which has earned them an Evening Standard publication amongst others. Having being the voice of the Youth Community, their carefully selected partnerships have given young talents the exposure and access needed to fully embrace their career interests.
