Match of the Day host Gary Lineker described the decision as a “nonsense” on social media.

Liverpool were awarded a controversial first-half penalty when Joe Rothwell was adjudged to have fouled Dominik Szoboszlai.

  • Spanish FA president criticised for Hermoso kiss

Spanish FA president criticised for Hermoso kiss

Spanish football president Luis Rubiales has been criticised for kissing Jenni Hermoso on the lips after Spain won the Women’s World Cup.

Rubiales kissed Hermoso during the presentation ceremony following Spain’s 1-0 win over England in Sunday’s final.

“I didn’t like it,” Hermoso said on Instagram, but a statement released later on her behalf defended Rubiales.

Government minister Irene Montero said: “It’s a form of sexual violence women suffer on a daily basis.”

Montero, Spain’s equalities minster, added that up to now it had been “invisible” and that it is something “we can’t normalise”.

“We should not assume kissing without consent is something ‘that happens’,” she said.

In comments later released by the Spanish football federation Hermoso – Spain’s all-time leading scorer – said the moment was a “natural gesture of affection”.

“It was a totally spontaneous mutual gesture because of the immense joy that winning a World Cup brings,” the 31-year-old forward added.

Rubiales’ actions were heavily criticised on social media, with ‘dimision ya’ – ‘resign now’ in English – trending on X, formerly known as Twitter, in Spain.

Rubiales told Spanish broadcaster COPE that it was “a kiss between two friends celebrating something” and those who saw it differently as “idiots and stupid people”.

“Let’s ignore them and enjoy the good things,” he added.

Spain won the World Cup despite controversy over coach Jorge Vilda, who survived a player revolt to keep his job.

The RFEF said in September 2022 that 15 players had submitted identical emails saying they would not play for Vilda unless “significant” concerns over their “emotional state” and “health” were addressed.

However, the RFEF continued to back Vilda and posted ‘VILDA IN’ on Spain’s official X account after their World Cup triumph.

  • My male fans love me because of my boobs, says actress Motunrayo Oluwakemi

My male fans love me because of my boobs, says actress Motunrayo Oluwakemi

Nigerian actress Motunrayo Oluwakemi has opened up about the attention she receives from her male fans, attributing it to her well-endowed bust.

The busty movie director made this known during a chat with Potpourri, where she shared some of her experiences with men, pointing out that it is pathetic how actresses are perceived by men and society at large.

During the discussion, Oluwakemi shared her experiences with men and highlighted the unfortunate stereotype that actresses often face from both men and society as a whole.

Motunrayo narrated: “Some time ago, I was in Dubai and one of my fans got to know about it. He then sent me a message on social media, asking me to name my price. I was furious and asked him what he meant by that. He said I should understand what he meant, that he wanted to send me some money to come over and spend some time with him, I blocked him immediately. I am busty but then I know the only thing my male fans like about me is my boobs. They can’t just get their eyes off it.”

Speaking about how actresses are perceived in this part of the world, the actress said: “I think the most challenging aspect of being an actress is the way people perceive us. The untrue assumptions are quite disturbing. Some people classify actresses as “runs girls” (pr*stitutes) in disguise and I think it is not appropriate to have such thoughts. For instance, I recently bought a new SUV and some people were quick to say it was my sugar daddy that bought it for me. It’s unfortunate that people think we can’t do good things in life through our sweat and without men. Aside from acting, I have a wine and jewellery store,” she added.

On the challenges she faced while starting, she said she experienced both the ups and downs in the industry but she remained unshaken because of her passion for acting.

She said: “I joined the movie industry in 2008 through Afeez Owo Group (Double A Entertainment). Getting into the movie industry was not a walk in the park for me. When I first came into the industry in 2009, the competition between actresses was much but I thank God I am still alive and doing well for myself.”
