    Veteran actor Kanayo O Kanayo has declared that Jesus is the only ‘juju’ he knows.

    Well-known for his movie roles as one who engages in money ritual practices, the thespian in an interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, distanced himself from such acts in real life.

    While addressing many social media’s weird notions about his personality based on movie roles, KOK expressly refuted engaging in any kind of fetish act or voodoo practices in reality.

    He expressed indifference over the multiple name tags like ‘nnayi sacrifice’ and others by social media users, noting he had no problem being called such names as long as he keeps getting paid.

    “For me, I haven’t done any juju. The only juju I know is Jesus. All these ‘nnanyi sacrifice’, and so on, ehn… Call me, no problem; as long as you’re paying my cheque,” he said.

    Human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong has said going to prison will fortify him to fight harder for Nigerians who cannot fight for themselves.

    The Nation reports Akwa Ibom Chief Judge, Ekaette Obot, had sent Effiong, to prison on Wednesday.

    On his Facebook page, Effiong said: “I was at the Federal High Court in Abuja yesterday to defend Sowore and the AAC.

    “I flew into Uyo last night to defend Leo Ekpenyong in a libel suit filed by Governor Udom Emmanuel and Senator Effiong Bob against him over alleged libel.

    “I have helped many people out of unlawful detention.

    “Going to prison myself will fortify me to fight harder for Nigerians who cannot fight for themselves”.

    “Uyo prison has rejected me. We are going back to the court now for His Lordship to determine where I should be jailed. History will vindicate the just.”

    Man impregnates 15-year-old step daughter in Ekiti

    A man identified as Ojo Babatunde from Omuo-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has been arrested by Police for impregnating his 15-year old step-daughter.

    A statement by the Police Spokesman, DSP Sunday Abutu, on Wednesday, in Ado-Ekiti, Babatunde was arrested by the Juvenile Welfare Centre, JWC, of the state CID.

    According to the statement, the culprit had carnal knowledge of the victim (name withheld) which led to a four-month pregnancy.

    The Police Spokesman noted that the suspect will be arraigned in court as he confessed to the crime claiming that it was the handiwork of the devil.

    Passenger airfare increased by 0.31% in June – NBS

    The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Wednesday said passenger airfare rose by 0.31% from N55,906.86 in May 2022 to N56,082.64 in June 2022.
    According to the Bureau in its “Transport Fare Watch,” for June 2022, the fare increased by 52.97% year-on-year basis.

    NBS said: “While the average fare paid by air passengers for specified routes on a single journey, increased by 0.31%, on a month-on-month from N55,906.86 in May 2022 to N56,082.64 in June 2022.

    “On a year-on-year, the fare rose by 52.97% (N36,662.57) in June 2021.”

    It noted the report shows Transport Fare Watch for June 2022 covering the following categories: bus journey within the city per drop constant route; bus journey intercity, state route charged per person; air fare charge for specified routes single journey; journey by motorcycle (Okada) per drop; and water way passenger transport.

    According to the report, the average fare paid by commuters for bus journeys within the city per drop, increased by 0.10%, on a month-on-month from N582.06 in May 2022 to N582.61 in June 2022. In terms of year-on-year.

    However, the average fare paid by commuters for bus journeys within the city per drop rose by 42.02% from N410.23 in June 2021 to N582.61 in June 2022.

    The average fare paid by commuters for bus journey intercity per drop, said NBS, rose to N3,662.87 in June 2022 indicating a decline of -0.16% on a month-on-month compared to the value of N3,668.64 in May 2022.

    It noted that on a year -on-year, the fare prices rose by 45.21% from N2522.44 in June 2021.

    The Bureau added that in another category, the average fare paid by commuters for journeys by motorcycle per drop declined by -0.10% on month-on-month from N417.39 in May 2022 to N416.97 in June 2022.

    Continuing, it said “Also, in terms of year-on-year, the fare rose by 43.20% from N291.18 in June 2021 to N416.97 in June 2022.

    While the average fare paid for water transport (waterway passenger transportation) in June 2022 increased to N943.26 showing a growth of 0.17% on a month-on-month from N941.63 in May 2022. On year-on-year, the fare rose by 12.80% from N836.23 in June 2021 to N943.26 in June 2022.”
