    Tinubu leads in 10 Sokoto councils

    The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is leading in 10 out of the 23 local government areas announced so far in Sokoto State.

    So far, he has scored 101,612 votes.

    The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Atiku Abubakar follows with 98,080 votes.

    Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) has 342 votes so far.

    The announcement of the presidential results commenced at 10 pm on Sunday.

    The local government areas so far announced are Tureta, Kware, Bodinga, Shagari, Gudu, Yabo, Rabah, Tangaza, Binji and Wurno.

    Ex-Gov Egwu loses third term senate bid

    Former Ebonyi Governor Senator Sam Egwu has lost his bid to return to the Senate for a third term.

    The All Progressive Congress (APC) made a clean sweep of all the National Assembly positions in Ebonyi North senatorial district.

    Egwu, candidate of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and incumbent Senator representing Ebonyi North, lost  to a former State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi 

    Nwebonyi was last night declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC).

    Nwebonyi, candidate of the All Progressive Congress(APC)  garnered a total of  65,863 votes.

    His closest opponent, Ejiofor Vincent Chukwu of Labour Party scored 42,283 to emerge second while Senator Sam Ominyi Egwu of PDP came a distant third with 26,569 votes.

    The report was announced by the INEC Returning Officer for Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone, Professor Nwogo Ajuka Obasi at the INEC Office in Abakaliki Local Government on Sunday night.

    A Former State Chairman of the APC, Eze Nwachukwu Eze defeated his Labour Party and PDP opponents to win the Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency seat 

    He garnered 22794 votes to beat his closest challenger, Ndubuisi Agbo of Labour who polled 14168 votes 

    The APC candidate for Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency, Emmanuel Uguru has been declared the winner of the election for the constituency.

    Uguru, a former Chairman of Abakaliki local government, defeated Eze Emmanuel Eze of Labour Party to emerge victorious.

    The Returning Officer for the election, Professor Amos Nworie announced that Uguru scored 41,771 votes.

    He said that Mr Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh scored 30,877 votes to take the second position.

    Incumbent Senators Binos Yaroe of Adamawa South zone and Ishaku Abbo of Adamawa north have been reelected.

    Senator Binos Yaroe of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won his election comfortably.

    INEC, at the collation centre in Numan, returned Yaroe with 14,6407 while announcing 9,482 votes for his closest rival, the candidate of APC, Adamu Samaila Numan.

    Senator Ishaku Abbo of the APC won in Adamawa north with 71, 927 votes to beat his PDP rival, Reverend Yohanna Amos who scored, 61,895 votes.

    INEC holds re-run presidential, NASS polls in seven Abia councils

    The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said it will conduct fresh Presidential and National Assembly elections today in various polling units in seven local government areas of Abia State.

    INEC Administration Secretary in charge of Abia State, Mr Clement Oha, told reporters in Umuahia, the state capital said the fresh polls start by 8:00 am

    He identified the affected LGAs as Obingwa, Osisioma, Aba North, Aba South, Umuahia North, Ohafia, and Arochukwu.

    The Administration Secretary said that the affected polling units in the affected LGAs had been communicated.

    He explained that the reported skirmishes in the affected polling units during Saturday’s election necessitated the fresh poll.

    ”We had various degrees of discrepancies with respect to the procedures that were violent to some extent.

    “The Commission in their wisdom felt that the credibility of the election should not be compromised and that there should be no winner by default. So, an election must take place in the affected polling units tomorrow (Monday)”.

    When asked to identify the number of polling units affected, the Administration Secretary, said it was still being processed.

    Umahi wins Ebonyi South Senate seat

    Ebonyi Governor David Umahi has been declared the senator-elect for Ebonyi South..

    Umahi, candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC), scored 28,378 votes to defeat his rivals, Linus Okorie of Labour Party (LP)who scored 25, 496, votes to come second while Eleje of APGA scored 11,398 votes to come third.

    The INEC Returning officer, Prof. Augustine Ogugua Egwu of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu Alike Ikwo, declared Umahi elected.

    The member representing Afikpo North/South federal constituency, Ebonyi State, in the House of Representatives, Hon. Iduma Igariwey has defeated his All Progressives Congress, (APC) rival, Eni Uduma Chima.

    Igariwey, a PDP lawmaker, who is the Vice Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation, 24,649 votes while Chima got 11,296 votes.

    The result was announced at the constituency headquarters in Afikpo North by an INEC official.

    Igariwey was reelected for a third term in the House.

    The House of Representatives candidate of Labour Party, Mr. Nkemkanma Kama, contesting for Ohaozara, Onicha and Ivo federal constituency was also declared winner.

    Kama scored 19921 votes to defeat his closest rival of the APC, Mr. Fidelix Igboke who scored 14231, while PDP candidate, Mr Livinus Maker scored 7506 to come third.

    The INEC Returning Officer, Onu Omaka who announced the results, said that Kama, having satisfied all the requirements of the law, is hereby declared winner of the election.

    Gov. Ayade loses bid to return to senate

    Cross River State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade hope to return to the Senate has been dashed.

    Ayade, who was the APC candidate for the Cross River northern senatorial district loss the election to Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe of the People’s Democratic Party.

    Sen. Jarigbe is the incumbent Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial district.

    He was declared winner having polled 76,145 votes to defeat his APC opponent Gov. Ben Ayade who scored 56, 595 votes

    The Returning officer in the election, Dr. Emmanuel Emanghe who spoke on behalf of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC commended everyone who had been in the field and who had made it possible for a successful poll.

    Emanghe thanked all security agents for giving the necessary back up which led to successful conduct of the election.

    “By the powers conferred on me as returning officer, I hereby announced and declare Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe as winner of the just concluded Cross River North Senatorial district election.

    The Labour Party (LP) is leading in the results of the presidential election in five of the six local government areas of Delta State declared.

    The state’s Collation Officer, Prof. Owunari Georgewill , the Vice-Chancellor, University of Port Harcourt, Rivers state announced the results yesterday in Asaba Delta Capital.

    LP is closely followed by the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) with the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the third position.

    The results collated were of Ika South, Ika North East, Aniocha North, Ethiope East and Oshimili North LGA’s.

    Although Labour Party swept the polls in Ethiope East LGA, a stronghold of All Progressives Grand Alliance gubernatorial candidate,Chief Great Ogboru, it failed to win in Ika North East, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s local government area.

    The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, has won, by a landslide, the Senatorial election for Yobe North, in Yobe State.

    The Senate President was formally declared winner on Sunday night by INEC which announced that Lawan polled 91,318 votes, representing 74.7 per cent of the total valid votes (122,193), to defeat his closest rival, Bello Ilu of PDP who polled 22,849 votes.

    The Special Adviser (Media) to the Senate President According to Ola Awoniyi, noted that “This is the seventh parliamentary election won consecutively by Lawan into the National Assembly since 1999, the first two of which gave him ticket to the House of Representatives while the last five gave him ticket to the Senate.”

    Tinubu polls 201,484 to beat others in Ekiti

    All Progressives Congress (APC) standard bearer Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was yesterday declared the winner of Saturday’s presidential poll in Ekiti.

    Tinubu polled 201, 484 votes to defeat other candidates in the election, held across the 16 local government areas of the Fountain of Knowledge State.

    The Presidential Election Collation Officer for Ekiti, Prof. Akeem Lasisi, who announced the result at the INEC Headquarters in Ado-Ekiti, later presented the result to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu at the National Collation Centre in Abuja.

    He said that a total of 988, 923 voters registered in the state.

    Lasisi, who is the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila Orangun, Osun State, said that 314, 472 out of the 315, 058 accredited voters cast their ballot.

    He put the number of valid votes 308, 171 and 6,301 as invalid votes at the end of the exercise.

    The State Collation Officer listed the figure scored by other major contenders as follows: Atiku Abubakar of the  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) – 89, 554; Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) – 11, 397.

    Lasisi, who described the turnout of voters as very impressive, based his observation on the total number of votes cast by the electorate during the presidential election.

    He said: “Yes, the turnout was very impressive as you can see from the number of people that came out to exercise their franchise.”

    LP’s agent Odunayo Okunade claimed that many of his party members were intimidated and prevented from exercising their franchise.

    He also claimed that the names of the party candidates for the Senatorial and House Representatives elections were omitted from the ballot papers.

    Okunade said: “We are going to sit down and study the results for our next line of action. Some of our members were physically intimidated, assaulted and in the process prevented from voting.

    “Not only that, more compounding is the non-inclusion of our candidates’ names on the ballot papers for the senatorial and House of Representatives elections,” he said.

    But the APC agent, Mr. Garuba Arogundade, said, “the result scored by his party is a reflection of the fact that the party was and still highly connected with the people of the state.”

    The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is far ahead of his counterparts in the Peoples Democratic P,arty(PDP) Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) in 11 out of the results of 13 local government officially announced by INEC collation officers in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.

    Kogi State boasts of 21 Local Government Areas.

    Tinubu leads Atiku, Obi and other parties’ presidential candidates in Mopa-Muro, Kogi-Koto Karfi, Kabba-Bunu, Ijumu, Igalamela-Odolu, Idah, Yagba East, Olamaboro, Dekina and Yagba West Local Government Areas of Kogi state.

    On his part, Atiku won Adavi and Bassa LGAs with a very slim margin.

    Obi did not win any local government.

    The results as officially announced at the Kogi State 2023 Presidential election collation Centre in Lokoja, are as follows:
