    THE Oluwo of Iwo land, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi; and High Commissioner of Nigeria in the United Kingdom, Ambassador  Sarafa Isolo, were some of the top dignitaries who witnessed the amazing 60th birthday celebration of a top businessman, Taiwo Afolabi, in London.

    Sheraton by Marriot was the location of the birthday bash and Afolabi was fully supported by his wife and children.

    Rocking a white tuxedo, it would be hard to tell that the Group Executive Vice Chairman of SIFAX was celebrating 60. He looked dashing and youthful.

    He was quoted saying, “as I turn 60, I am grateful to God. I am happy that life has been kind to me. I am grateful for the modest impact God has accomplished through me. I am grateful for a wonderful family and I am grateful for a greater future.”

    Staff, loved ones, and associates also used the opportunity to say good things about him. He was described as a friend, a go-to person, and an inspiration. They also called him a teacher, a strategic thinker, and a philanthropist.

    As part of his birthday celebration, the 6th Edition of U-17 Boys and Girls Taiwo Afolabi Cup 2022 (Lagos/South West Youth) took place in Lagos. There was also a novelty match.

    THE saying that not all heroes wear capes should not be overlooked, as the same applies to Gbenga Omole, a member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Akoko South West Constituency 1.

    Omole might not be a battlefield warrior like his forefathers, but he has shown that he is brave and he has the love of his people at heart.

    As he turns 50 today, the Olubaka of Oka land, Oba Yusuf Adebori Adeleye, will confer him with a chieftaincy title, the Akogun of Oka land.

    Omole’s wife, Wemimo, will also be installed as the Yeye Akogun of Oka land.

    Akogun means warrior.

    According to the history of the Oka people, Akogun must be willing to die for his people.

    Oba Adeleye knows he can always count on Omole and he has decided to crown him with the important title.

    Also, on the same day, there will be a foundation laying ceremony for a football academy, which will be named after Omole’s late father, Pa Jacobs Omole, popularly known as J.O. Jacobs in his days.

    Omole also sponsors an annual football tournament, which has lifted many youths out of joblessness and poverty.

    According to him, upon the completion of the football academy, it will be a centre to discover talents and nurture them into stars.

    “The foundation laying ceremony of this academy is one of the highlights of my 50th birthday celebration,” he said.

    The chairman Ondo State House of Assembly Committee on Information, Youths, and Sports, has not forgotten the needy and less privileged. He donated cash and gift items to children’s homes in Akure and Home for Vulnerable Women and Children in Oka Akoko.

    Omole also donated food, toiletries, and cash gifts to the Daughter of Charity of St Vincent de Paul in Oka Akoko as well.

    MERAM, the daughter of Maiduguri billionaire, Muhammed Indimi, became a year older on Wednesday, April 27.

    The founder of Skinnyseung, a health and beauty brand didn’t have a massive celebration but family and friends showered her with love and exciting birthday wishes.

    Meram is one of the three Indimis sisters. Adama and Mairama are her other sisters.

    Meram, who is married to a politician Baffa Dandatti Abdulkadir, shocked Nigerians in April 2009 when she talked about her fight with depression in a video shared on social media. She is from a wealthy home and she is a successful entrepreneur, so no one saw the revelation coming.

    “A lot of you may know me but what you don’t know is that over the years I have actually been dealing with anxiety and depression. It was quite severe actually. Most days, I did not think they were worth getting out of bed.

    “I want to let you know that if you have loved ones, don’t forget to call them, tell them you love them and believe in them. Anyone struggling with anxiety and depression… Whatever, you are not alone. It can get better. It will get better. I believe in you,” she said.

From the torrent of birthday messages addressed to the Head, Media and External Relations, United Bank for Africa, Ramon Nasir, on Wednesday, one does not need to be told that he is a man loved by many in the media and communications industry.

    Managing the corporate affairs and communications of a leading bank is not an easy job, but Nasir has done it effortlessly since he assumed the position.

    In March, Nasir celebrated 15 years of service to UBA. He was also celebrated by his bosses, colleagues, and friends.

    The Chairman of UBA Group, Tony  Elumelu, in a letter, praised him for his sacrifice and commitment to projecting the financial institution’s image externally.

    He joined UBA as a personal assistant to Nnamdi Okonkwo, who worked at UBA at the time. He occupied other positions before he became the head of UBA’s media relations.

    Nasir bagged a First Class degree in International Relations and a Master of Business Administration, MBA, from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State. He also has a Master’s degree in Media/Marketing, and Communication from Pan Atlantic University, Lagos.

    On his Linkedin page, Nasir describes himself as a lover of mankind and a family man. He is also, proudly Nigerian, he said.

    SHADE Okoya decided to add a different dimension to her 45th birthday celebration on Monday by releasing a documentary showcasing her purposeful life.

    Shade seems to be enjoying her life as the wife of billionaire Rasaq Okoya, mother, and businesswoman. If anyone doubts her fulfillment and happiness, the documentary must have buried that.

    The documentary captures Shade’s love for premium dresses and fashion accessories, and her love for her family.

    Her husband, Chief Okoya, in the film, described his wife and mother of six children as an honest and nice woman.

    “She takes good care of her children and the home. She worries a lot if they are travelling,” he said.

    “She is hard-working. She wakes up at 7 am to clean the house and she gets to the factory at 9 am. She does her best to keep it going.”

    Shade’s children also sang praises of her, saying that she is more than a mother to them.

    According to Wahab, her last child, she’s a go-getter and she made him the man he is today.

    Oyinlola said she is very caring, hardworking, and determined. Subomi said she fights his battles as a lawyer and she is his doctor when he is sick.

    Others, including Olamide, Amina, and Jubril, said she is a great woman and they are lucky to have her as a mother.

    “She is a great influence on me in different ways. She does not influence me only by her work ethic but also by her fashion and hobbies,” Olamide said.

    “She is caring, generous, and hard-working. It is nice to have someone who is strong and hardworking by my side,” Amina said.

    WHILE the Yoruba people are still grieving the transition of the respected Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamide Adeyemi, there is also a need to celebrate.

    It is now 12 years since the popular Lagos monarch, Oba Seheed Elegushi of Ikate Kingdom, ascended the throne of his forefathers.

    It seems like yesterday when he was crowned as the 21st Elegushi and regarded as one of the youngest kings in Yoruba land. At 34, he succeeded his late father, Oba Yekini Adeniyi Elegushi (Kusenla II), who joined his ancestors at age 69.

    In his reflection message, Elegushi admitted that the task of building a better society remains a work in progress.

    “It’s been 12 years since we started this journey, taking after my forebears and remaining on the right side of the history of putting our God-given resources to good use for the benefit of our people.

    “The journey continues and with the special grace of Almighty and the continued support of our ancestors, we will continue for a long time,” he said.

    Giwa’s wife, Alhaja Tejumola, his four children, and grandchildren joined him on stage for the cake cutting.

    Alhaja Tejumola was seen moving around to ensure everything was smooth. She first rocked a luxury chocolate lace with 18-carat jewel, and then changed to classy blue attire later in the evening.

    The Akinsiku of Lagos, Adebola Dosumu, was one of the top dignitaries who graced the event. He shared the high table along with Giwa and his wife.

    Sources said his presence at the traditional wedding ceremony was connected to his tight relationship with Igbinedion. The top businessman has known the former governor for years and he values their friendship.

    Singer Teni thrilled the couple with her hit songs. As she was performing, she also danced along with them.

    Osasu, who is a 29-year-old media personality posted the video of her accepting the marriage proposal on January 5.
