    REKIYAT Awosika and Joshua Ajitena will count themselves blessed as legendary singer, Evangelist Ebenezer Obey, and his son, Tolu Obey, made their engagement ceremony on Saturday, February 5, a remarkable one.

    Although Obey did not perform at the ceremony, his presence at the Time Square Event Center, Ikeja, Lagos, brought goose bumps to friends and well-wishers of the couple.

    It was learnt that Obey could only have missed the ceremony if the reason was beyond his control. According to sources close to Ajitena’s family, Obey is the groom’s godfather and a close friend of his father.

    While his father watched, Tolu performed at the ceremony, bringing back Obey’s old tunes.

    With his band members, he reminded guests of the good old days of his father. And guests returned the favour by spraying him lots of cash.

    Pastor Ighodalo leads Adeniran -Ogunsanya’s burial

    PRINCESS Aderenle Adeniran-Ogunsanya has been given a befitting burial ceremony, which started on Wednesday and ended yesterday.

    The crowd, who came out for the former Secretary to the Lagos State Government’s service of songs on Thursday at the Harbour Point, Victoria Island, Lagos, meant she must have been good to people. Literally everyone said good things about her.

    The service of songs was led by Pastor Itah Ighodalo and the burial service was also held at his church, the Trinity House, Victoria Island, Lagos.

    Adeniran-Ogunsanya was laid to rest at Adeniran Ogunsanya Compound, Ikorodu, Lagos. Guests were also entertained at their family’s house, popularly known as the Fuwagboye Court.

    The late politician died at the age of 74 on Tuesday, January 25, following a brief illness.

    Football legend and Chief Executive Officer of Eagle-7 Radio, Segun Odegbami, has clarified information about the interview published in The Nation last Saturday.

    The publication which was titled: ‘I’ve no scandals, polygamy is part of Egbaman’s life,’ gives the impression that the former Nigerian footballer who is from Egba, Ogun State consents to polygamy as a common practice of his people, “This is completely misleading, and it depicts a negative impression of the true state of affairs in my life, ” he stated.

    Odegbami said the headline was structured from his conversation with his father which explains the position of his father regarding how a family should be, “I had a discussion with my father 30 years ago on how I was living in Nigeria alone when my ex-wife and family were living abroad.

    “He suggested it was not healthy and that I should either join them abroad, make them return, or marry another wife, it was his practical suggestion, what Egba people would have done and I didn’t follow the counsel.”

    Odegbemi said he was not a polygamist: “To put the records straight, I am not a polygamist. I don’t practice it. I have nothing against those that do. I am a monogamist,” he noted.

    He apologised to friends and family who were deeply shocked by the publication. “I have hurt sensibilities and sincerely apologize to my immediate family and to my Egba kinsmen for this unfortunate and erroneous misrepresentation.”

    Precious Chikwendu is not resting in her fight to get full custody of her children from their father, former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode.

    Days after she petitioned the United Nations (UN), Amnesty International, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeking justice and custody of her children, she is also set to share her life experiences at the Apostolic Roundtable Conference in Lagos.

    Chikwendu and Fani-Kayode have been entangled in a messy battle over the custody of their four sons since their split in 2020. In December 2021, she even urged a Customary Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to declare that she was never married to the ex-minister.

    While inviting Nigerians to the event, the mother of four said they would be speaking about changes in life, politics and policies. She added: “I will be speaking about life and how to carry on with life when you are knocked down by the situation around you.”

    She went ahead to assure interested persons that they would learn a lot from her experiences and the conference in general.

    IT was time to celebrate Mama Dorcas Olubanke Thomas at 90 and she was celebrated in a big way by her children, grandchildren and loved ones at the MAM Event Centre, Sura, Lagos.

    Thomas’s grandson, Barr. Olayide Oshodi-Glover, recalled memories shared with his grandparents, thinking they were his real parents.

    The Lagos-based lawyer described her as a very homely mother and a diligent petty trader. He said his grandma was one of the reasons he enjoyed his childhood.

    Thomas was blessed with three kids but lost one at a tender age. She had her last child in the United Kingdom but relocated to Nigeria at some point in her life.

    “PEOPLE keep saying he is old but I do not think anyone is ready to lose his or her father.” These are some of the words of Princess Adeseun, a daughter of Onisheri of Isheri Olofin, Lagos, Oba Wahab Ayinde Balogun, who died on Tuesday and was buried on Wednesday according to Islamic rites.

    Going to join his ancestor at the age of 95 and ruling Isheri Olofin land for 37 years meant the first class ruler lived a fulfilling life but his daughter still wished he was alive to witness his marriage.

    In one of her posts on social media, Adeseun said she could remember when her father would go for monarchs’ meetings or official functions and everyone would be rejoicing because they knew he would bring lots of goodies and food for them.

    She added: “One thing I know for sure is that my father doesn’t joke with his children. You do not even eat much but I took my love for meat from you. You lived a good life and ruled well. I asked for the same wisdom.”

    The late paramount ruler of Isheri Olofin was once the chairman Alimosho Council of Obas and during his reign, Isheri Olofin witnessed a major growth. In June 2019, he celebrated his 35 years on the throne. He became the king in 1983 but his coronation took place in 1984.

    IT has been announced that this year’s Global Aje Festival will begin with Aje Heritage & Economic Summit on Friday, February, 25.

    The Iyalaje Oodua Worldwide, Princess Dr. Toyin Kolade, is saddled with the responsibility of organising the annual event by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and she plans to make this year’s edition a better affair.

    The four-day festival will begin with the Aje Heritage & Economic Summit slated for the Ife Grand Resort in Ile-Ife.

    Saturday, February 26, and Sunday, February 27, will be for Aje Music Fiesta and Aje Movie Screening respectively, while the grand finale will be held on Monday, January 28.

    Ooni’s spokesman and chairman of Aje Festival Media Committee, Otunba Moses Olafare, in a press statement, acknowledged the effort of the committee members.

    He said: “Aje Heritage & Economic Summit highlights the investment environments, investment policies, investment projects and corporate products in all Oodua states of Nigeria.
