Temi Otedola grabs another movie role

EVEN though she is relatively unknown in Nollywood, you can start adding “an actor” to Temi Otedola’s name.

Niyi Akinmolayan has announced the start of his next movie, “The Man for the Job,” a crime drama that chronicles the adventures of an industrious young man who gets ruffled by the plot of an excessively optimistic startup CEO.

The movie is written and directed by Akinmolayan, and one of the casts is billionaire Femi Otedola’s daughter. It would be recalled that Temi made her movie debut in Kunle Afolayan’s “Citation” in 2020.

Her role in “Citation” caught many by surprise, as she was able to interpret her character beyond expectation. People who thought she got the role due to her father’s affluence were forced to eat their words.

Alibaba, Ini Edo, Uzor Arukwe, Ibrahim Sulaiman and Baba Rex will also play different roles in the upcoming Akinmolayan’s movie.

    CMS boys celebrate Shonekan

BEFORE his death, even though age was catching up with him, Chief Ernest Shonekan never joked with his alma mater, Nigeria’s oldest secondary school, CMS Grammar School, Lagos.

As a member of the Old Grammarians’ Society (OGS), he lived a life of service and played an active role in guiding the affairs of the society. And instead of mourning him, the society decided to celebrate his greatness.

On Wednesday, OGS held a service of songs in the school’s hall and it was attended by past and present students. Some of the old boys are now important personalities in the society, yet they were humble enough to rock the school colours – white and blue — to celebrate the late leader.

The OGS’ President, Olu Vincent, and other executive members put up a great event to appreciate Shonekan for all he did for CMS and Nigeria.

Praise pours in for Amina Smaila

THE major challenges most consular offices battle with across the world are delays in responding to applications and unprofessional conducts of staff members. The Nigeria Consulate in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, also has its own fair share of challenges and criticism in the past and recent years.

But a member of the House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs, Steve Azaiki, visited the consulate recently and spoke highly of the transformation under the leadership of Ambassador Amina Smaila, the Consulate General of Nigeria in Atlanta.

When Smaila was appointed two years ago, her mission was to change the mindset of people about the Consulate. Considering Azaiki’s praise, it appears she has started making an impact.

While paying a courtesy visit to the diplomat, the lawmaker insisted that President Muhammadu Buhari made a good choice by appointing her into the position.

Azaiki said that Smaila had demonstrated her capacity and leadership, adding that her vision for the Consulate and Nigerians in the US was remarkable.

With almost two decades in the Nigerian Foreign Service and three years spent as the Deputy Director of Nigeria’s Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, Smaila looks like a perfect fit for the position.

You starved to send other people’s children to school. You were badly treated for the principles you held dear to your heart. You supported my dreams and I am eternally grateful.
