    Ooni teaches how to fish

THE Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has continued to be a blessing to the people of Yorubaland. Apart from trying to unify the Yoruba kingdoms, he is also keen on development and human growth.

On Monday, courtesy of the Ooni, many young girls went home with sewing machines after undergoing some training.

Addressing newsmen during the event, Ogunwusi expressed his joy over the success recorded through the initiative since its inception five years ago.

The monarch said: “I wish to call on the government at all levels and all well-meaning Nigerians to direct huge resources in this line in order to create opportunities for younger people. When I started about six years ago, my intention was to create chances for all able-bodied young persons. So, I awarded scholarships to indigent students and trained others in several vocations, including fashion designing like we have here today.

“I am so surprised when my staff in charge told me that over 1,000 persons have benefited. We now have our beneficiaries scattered all over the country studying one course or the other while those we trained and empowered in different vocations are now financially independent and even assisting their respective homes.”

Ayodeji aka ‘Still Ringing’ on being gay

IT has been rumoured that comedian and comic Yoruba interpreter, Ogunsina Ayodeji Samuel, popularly known as Still Ringing, is in a romantic relationship with his partner, Ojo Oladipupo Daniel. The gossip is that they are always seen together in their hotel apartment when they have both official and unofficial events.

When asked about his alleged relationship with Ladi, he said it came as a rude shock to him. He stated: “We were not born by the same parents but what we share together makes us stronger than being siblings. We climb the stage together, work together, and almost got married at the same time. The issue is that when people want to come between two partners, they cook up stories.”

According to him, they have been together for almost two decades and they can decide to stay in the same hotel room if the event organisers can’t afford separate rooms. The comedian added: “Does that mean we are gay? Fans should always put us into consideration when they try to put us down. That does not mean we don’t have fans that support; we appreciate the loyal ones too.”

Also reacting to a recent alleged affair with a client identified as Clement Peters, he said he felt bad when he heard the rumour.

“When you try to avoid scandal, it just pops up from nowhere. The fact that you are close with a client does not suggest such a gay relationship. They should think of my reputation and legacy before saying these things. How would I stoop so low to indulge in that? I guess it’s part of the price you pay for stardom. Anyone who is pointing accusing fingers at any artist you claim you love is not a true fan. If you really are a fan, you should come to me for verification of stories before spreading them.”
