‘Why we procured N500m vehicles, tools to empower community in Anambra’

Okija community, Ihiala Local Government Area of the state, was the beneficiary of the largesse from the foundation.

The items are for the promotion of sanitary health in the area and it was done in partnership with Okija Bu Enyi Brothers Assembly.

The items were donated to the community during the official launch of the ‘Keep Okija Clean’ Initiative to drive environmental and sustainable waste management for the Okija community and environs.

Speaking with The Nation Friday in Okija, the Founder of the foundation, Dr Ernest Azudialu-Obiejesi, said the aim of the ‘Keep Okija Clean’ initiative was to address waste management challenges while creating economic opportunities for residents of Okija.

Obiejesi emphasised the need for collective action in driving meaningful sanitary change.

He said that over 100 people had been employed for the project, adding that the gesture was another way to create jobs for the teaming unemployed youths in the area.

According to Obiejesi, ” The foundation is doing it in collaboration with the ‘Okija Bu Enyi’ Brothers Assembly, the ‘Keep Okija Clean’ initiative—a project that embodies our commitment to environmental sustainability and community development.

“This effort is a testament to the power of collaboration, as the initiative includes cleaning streets, roads, and public spaces while introducing a sustainable waste management system.

“The highlight of this programme is the future development of a properly engineered landfill for Okija and its environs, which will provide a long-term solution to waste disposal challenges.

“This project is expected to create employment opportunities for local youths while fostering a healthier environment when completed,” Obijackson said

Group reiterates Tompolo’s, Otuaro’s commitment to N’Delta development

A group, Niger-Delta Renaissance Network, has reiterated the commitment of Government Tompolo, CEO of Tantita Security Company, and Dennis Otuaro, Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, to protecting Nigeria’s oil pipelines and dedication to developing initiatives that enhance the lives of ex-agitators.

The group disassociated Tompolo and Otuaro from the baseless accusations in a viral video, noting that these allegations are not only unfounded but are also a calculated attempt to tarnish their reputations

The spokesman Gabriel Aniete said: “It is evident that the individual behind these accusations is being sponsored by oil bunkers and thieves in the Niger Delta who aim to undermine the integrity of Tompolo, Dennis, and others.

“Since being contracted to provide security services around the nation’s oil pipelines, Tantita Security Company has successfully apprehended countless oil bunkers and crude oil thieves, significantly improving oil production and ensuring that Nigeria meets its OPEC quota.

“Furthermore, under Dennis Otuaro’s leadership of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, the Niger Delta has witnessed a period of relative peace. The programme has played a significant role in training and retraining numerous ex-agitators, transforming them into responsible citizens who actively contribute to national development.

“The recent media attacks and character assassination of Tompolo, Dennis Otuaro, and others come as no surprise. Their effective management of oil pipelines and the Presidential Amnesty Programme has drawn envy from forces who previously benefited from oil bunkering activities and fraudulent schemes within the amnesty programme.

“We call on those sponsoring these character assassinations to desist immediately. It is imperative to reemphasize the commitment of Tompolo and Tantita to protecting Nigeria’s oil pipelines, as well as Dennis Otuaro’s dedication to developing initiatives that enhance the lives of ex-agitators.”

Don’t blame Komaiya for Alilu’s arrest, says MC Orobo

Popular comedian MC Orobo has exonerated Pastor Korede Komaiya from the arrest of one Mr Festus Alilu.

He alleged Alilu has mastered using names of popular preachers to gain social traction.

According to him: “Pastors are also human beings, and in an era where social media can be weaponized against the public reputation of others, it is eminent to state clearly that the era of ‘KEEP QUIET’ is far gone.

“Now, this is the era of saying only what you can defend in court, no more careless statements.”

MC Orobo stated it has been revealed that the arrest of Alilu did not come from Komaiya or his team but from a group of concerned Christian youths angered by the unprovoked and unnecessary cyber attacks, bullying and banter directed at popular men of God.

MC Orobo urged news media outlets not to avail themselves to be used to spread fake news and misleading narratives.

He called on the government to take things seriously on new-age social media challenge and to innovate better legislation to curb social wickedness.

Child rights advocate intensifies campaign against sexual violence through movie production

A Child Rights Advocate and seasoned movie producer, Wilson Ukhurebor, has intensified the campaign against adolescent girl child sexual violence through movie production.

Ukhurebor in his new movie titled “DINA”, called on society to rise against sexual violence, stating that society should stand as a protective shield for adolescent girl child.

At the media screening held on Friday in Lagos, Ukhurebor explained that “the film is proudly supported by the International Child Safety Report Initiative and has received massive audience from the Lagos State Ministry of Youths and Social Development”.

He added that he was ready to partner with both private and public organizations to deep the campaign and make the advocacy grassroots based.

” We are open to genuine collaboration from both local and international organizations because the menace needs to be eradicated in our society.

” The movie DINA will be screened in 10 other Cinemas across Lagos state, so as to reach students from more schools. Beyond the movie itself, an array of activities has been lined up to amplify this message and empower young girls”, said Ukhurebor.

DINA sheds light on the growing menace of sexual violence against young girls and aims to drive awareness and action.

Meanwhile, the Spokesperson for the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), Mrs Adejoke Oginni, who witnessed the media screening, said that the Agency had recorded huge successes since its creation, saying the Agency is ready to collaborate with private organization and individuals in deepening the campaign against sexual violence.

  • Aisha Achimugu’s arrest rumour fake, unfounded, aide insists

Aisha Achimugu’s arrest rumour fake, unfounded, aide insists

Dr. Aisha Achimugu’s Media Aide,. David Abakpa, has maintained that his Principal and Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of FELAK Concept Group is not under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Abakpa insisted that Dr. Achimugu OFR has no score to settle with the EFCC amid social media reactions in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja.

The media aide said the EFCC is a reputable financial crime agency in Nigeria that would not toy with any serious matter on social media before investigating individuals or groups concerned.

He challenged the sponsored media campaigners to provide evidence of the purported investigation or warrant of arrest against his principal by the Commission while dismissing the media claim that Dr. Achimugu escaped EFCC arrest.

The statement reads in part: “It is petty that some mushroom media platforms known for clickbait are being used to propagate falsehood against patriotic Nigerian and global icon, Dr. Aisha Achimugu, who is earning and attracting a highly esteemed reputation for Nigeria and Nigerians internationally.

“The EFCC is known for its professionalism in handling financial crimes. EFCC doesn’t disclose information of arrest to newsmen until investigation is completed. So it is strange that masked EFCC officials under anonymity allegedly disclose to an online media platform of its plan to arrest a law abiding Nigerian.

“Let the media house publish the purported arrest warrant or the letter of invitation issued against Dr. Achimugu as claimed. Anybody on the EFCC watchlist cannot just fly out of the country without being arrested by security agents at the airport, in the first place.

“The media campaign is empty and the aim is defeated on arrival. Darkness cannot comprehend light just as falsehood cannot prevail over truth. Therefore, the sponsors of the fake news lack the coordination to dent the image of the award winning entrepreneur.

“OFR is not a child play national honour which Dr Aisha Achimugu has earned from the Federal Republic of Nigeria. She has given back to the economy in several ways through her legit businesses, hence, the recognition”.

“Dr. Aisha Achimugu is a hardworking businesswoman who is always tirelessly flying across the globe on business trips. It’s therefore laughable to say that she traveled out of the country to escape arrest”.

  • LP has no favoured aspirant for Anambra Gov race, says Abure

LP has no favoured aspirant for Anambra Gov race, says Abure

Ahead of Anambra gubernatorial election, the National Chairman of Labour Party (LP) Barrister Julius Abure has assured the two aspirants in the April 5 primary of a level-playing ground.

He gave the assurance on Thursday while receiving the nomination and expression of interest forms of Dr. George Moghalu at the party’s national Secretariat in Abuja on Thursday.

Abure noted that inability of major political parties to allow contestation and internal democracy have denied the country to the best candidates to occupy offices.

He maintained that the Labour Party had resolved to change the narrative by ensuring that due process is followed for the emergence of any of its candidates.

He said: “For us in Labour Party we are determined to change that narrative, to change the trajectory and we want to assure the aspirant that our own primary for the Anambra governorship election is going to be free, fair and credible.

“I want you to take it to the bank, that it is the people of Anambra State and more precisely, Labour Party members that will be the determinant of who flies the party ticket.

“I want to say without any equivocation or contradiction and want to be challenged with the statement that there will not be godfatherism and we have no anointed aspirant and the process will not be skewed towards an aspirant and I assure again that the process will be free, fair and credible.”

Abure appealed to the aspirant to do the needful by continuing to sell himself, endear himself to the people, especially members of the party responsible for electing the candidate.

Before submitting the N30 million nomination and expression of interest forms, the frontline aspirant and immediate Managing Director of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), George Moghalu said he was in the race to change the trajectory of the state.

The former National Auditor of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), who decamped to LP last year, lamented despite the vast potentials of the state, it has not been able to attain the desired state.

According  to him: “Anambra state is blessed state with all its potentials, but we are not where the state should be now. We need to rejig the leadership. This exactly is the force behind my ambition.”

Assuring that he would not disappoint the party leadership if he wins the ticket, Moghalu said: “Mr. Chairman and your team, I assure you, I will not let you down. I am going into this race, the governorship of our state with the determination to win the election and we shall win by the grace of God.

“Giving the opportunity to fly the flag of our party, provides us with the opportunity to have a state we can call our own.”

  • From Aba to the World: How two friends built Rhymestreet Records to spotlight Nigerian talent

From Aba to the World: How two friends built Rhymestreet Records to spotlight Nigerian talent

In the heart of Aba, Nigeria, where music echoed through school halls and vibrant trade fairs, two childhood friends dreamed of transforming raw talent into global artistry. Nneji “Nosman” Abuwa and Chimezie Eke grew up surrounded by melodies and rhythms that sparked a shared passion — one that would eventually give birth to Rhymestreet Records. From school competitions to international platforms, their journey is a testament to friendship, creativity, and an unyielding belief in nurturing dreams.

Nosman and Chimezie’s journey began in Aba, a city bursting with musical potential but lacking the right infrastructure for aspiring artists.

Reflecting on their early days, Nosman recalls, “Those early days in Aba, we used to have inter-school competitions with singing, rapping, and dancing as major categories. We also had trade fairs, fundraising parties, and other social events where music was the heartbeat. It was clear that Aba had a lot of musical talents, but there wasn’t a proper platform to harness them. That realization planted the seed for Rhymestreet Records.”

Their passion for music and the creative arts only deepened as they grew older. Nosman eventually carved out a career as a singer and songwriter, collaborating with notable artists worldwide. His hit single “SHAKE” even earned the MTN Music Plus Top 10 Awards in 2017. Meanwhile, Chimezie found his own path in acting and modeling, featuring in Hollywood movies such as Dolor y Gloria alongside Antonio Banderas and modeling for brands like Givenchy and Chanel.

When asked about their partnership, Chimezie emphasizes the harmony in their creative visions. “We believe that any work of art is borne out of creativity, and creative talent is a gift. For us, it’s easy to make decisions and map out strategies because all aspects of creative art are interconnected. You can’t make a movie without a soundtrack, just as music isn’t complete without visuals and dance. Our backgrounds complement each other perfectly.”

This creative synergy became the cornerstone of Rhymestreet Records, where music isn’t just about sound but storytelling — a fusion of art forms.

For Nosman and Chimezie, talent alone isn’t enough to make it in the music industry. “In addition to talent and creative ability, what we look for in an artist is a strong passion and desire to make music,” Nosman shares. “Talent is great, but without that burning zeal to keep going, no matter the obstacles, one may never realize their dreams.”

Their artist development process focuses on nurturing both skill and spirit, ensuring that every artist under Rhymestreet’s wing is prepared to thrive in the global spotlight.

With affiliate connections in major cities worldwide, Rhymestreet Records prides itself on crafting music that resonates across cultures.

Chimezie explains, “We work with highly creative producers and sound engineers in major cities globally. Before scheduling a tour or releasing music in a new market, we study the local sound preferences and collaborate with producers to create a fusion that appeals to audiences in that region.”

This global approach ensures that their artists’ music travels far beyond Nigerian borders, while still retaining the essence of Afro Hip-Hop and R&B.

The founders’ individual successes have only strengthened their resolve to elevate Rhymestreet Records.

“Our achievements have inspired us to dream bigger,” says Nosman. “Every milestone, whether it’s winning awards or collaborating with international stars, serves as a reminder that we have what it takes to put Nigerian music on the world map. It has also drawn more talent to our label, eager to learn and grow.”

Chimezie echoes this sentiment. “Every runway I’ve walked and every film I’ve starred in has opened doors for Rhymestreet Records. We’ve used those opportunities to create visibility for our artists and build connections that span continents.”

As Rhymestreet Records gears up to launch its first major artist signings, the founders are clear about their vision for the future. “The world should expect nothing but good music with quality content from our label,” Nosman declares. “We’ve spent years understanding what the people want when it comes to music, and we’re ready to redefine the Afro Hip-Hop and R&B scene with the quality of our sounds.”

For Chimezie, the goal is even broader. “We want Rhymestreet Records to be a beacon for talented artists, not just in Nigeria but across Africa. We’re here to realize dreams, just as our motto says.”

From childhood friends in Aba to music entrepreneurs, Nosman Abuwa and Chimezie Eke’s journey is a powerful reminder that passion, creativity, and resilience can turn dreams into reality
