  • You are destined for supernatural exploits!

Welcome to the month of May! I believe we all had an awesome time in the school of faith all through the month of April, 2019, and I am persuaded that everyone is sure to begin to manifest the same Spirit of faith at work in Jesus all through our adventure in life, in the name of Jesus Christ! Amen! This week, we shall focus on the topic: You Are Destined for Supernatural Exploits!

We understand from scriptures that, everyone born of God is destined for a life of exploits and extraordinary accomplishments. We must understand that living a life of exploits is not the exclusive right of some individuals. We don’t have to be white to experience it as our skin colour is irrelevant to our breakthroughs in life. As long as we are children of God, we are candidates for supernatural exploits! The scripture gives a graphic picture of our glorious destiny in Daniel 11:32: …But the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits. Moreover, we have an extraordinary Father, and as such we are ordained for extraordinary accomplishments. Essentially, we live in a world of times and seasons; our understanding of the times is what keeps us in command (Ecclesiastics 3:1-11; 1 Chronicles 12:32).

We also discover from scriptures that extraordinary exploit is God’s agenda for His people in these end-times, which implies that today, we are in the era of exploits and global impacts in the body of Christ (Isaiah2:1-3; Act 2:17). Therefore, we must make the most of the season. On the other hand, it may interest us to know that our exploits are scripturally rooted in a threefold cord that cannot be easily broken. These are:

    • Our Redemptive Root: We must remind ourselves that supernatural exploit is one of our redemptive rights in Christ and as such this makes us men and women of value. Jesus clearly describes the redeemed as …the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? …Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, …Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven(Mathew 5:13-16). As we all know, salt is always required by men and always sought after because it is a preserver and a sweetener. For the redeemed, we are to operate as the salt of the earth, light of the world and a city set on the hill that cannot be hid. Also, concerning the believer, the Bible says: And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth (Revelation 5:10). This implies that we are redeemed from the back group to the front group, from the valley to the mountaintop, from poverty to plenty, from shame to glory and from slavery to royalty.
    • The Abrahamic Covenant: The second powerful part of the threefold cord for our greatness is rooted in our connection to Abraham. But, what does that covenant entail? In Genesis 17:6-7, God said to Abraham: …I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant. God is saying He will ensure that we become nations or kings because of the Abrahamic blood flowing in us. Thus, it is our covenant right to be kings and this covenant makes us an envy to our world.
    • God’s Prophetic Agenda: Also by prophetic agenda, we are redeemed for the topmost top. In Revelation 22:16, the scripture describes Jesus as the bright and Morning Star. Furthermore, Jesus said: …as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you (John 20:21). This implies that redemption has made us a bright and morning star. By this, we are a born star after the order of Christ. In essence, in these last days, the redeemed of the Lord will be the custodians of the finance, economy as well as science and technology of the world. There will be so much demand on them across nations of the earth because their work will announce them to their world. Thus, they will fulfil God’s prophetic agenda in these last days such that: …ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you (Zechariah 8:23).

In conclusion, having the correct mental picture of our redemption is key to accessing our actual future. If the picture of our heritage of supernatural exploits dawns on us and becomes a way of life, we will become envy to our world. This is why we must be awake to the demands of this great hour of opportunities so as to take full delivery of our greatness. In other words, we must be sensitive to the times and seasons and walk in the understanding of the time set by God. It is only then we can enjoy unusual divine backings, command strange results and become the envy of those who have pitied us in the past. However, to experience a lifestyle of exploits, you need to be born again. Are you born again? If you are not, this is an opportunity to do so. Simply say the following prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Today, I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now I know I am born again! “In our journey since inception from 2012 to date we have witnessed a growth in membership to 1,300 with a resultant effect on our Savings, Incomes and dividends amounts.

    “Our 2018 surplus of N16, 651,016 is a 31% increase over the previous year’s N12, 716, 919,” he stressed.

“We will work hard to expand investment and welfare options and opportunities in order to meet the daily expanding welfare needs of our membership,” he said.

Also addressing members at the AGM, Abimbola Kolawole, who represented the Lagos state Director of Cooperative Services, Zulikha Olufunmilayo Ibraheem, told members to see the society as their own and also work tirelessly for its growth.

He lauded the excos and members for a good outing despite the socio-economic hindrances, describing a Co-operative society as an autonomous and voluntary association of individuals who come together with the objective of owning common property, and prompting the economic interest of its members.

He said co-operative must be built in such a way that there was autonomy and independence, adding that there must be training in all planned co-operative activities, while part of the profit must be set aside for education, training and information.

Soderu noted that it is only by working jointly on the principle of mutual benefits that members of the society can fight exploitation and secure a place in society.

He stated that co-operative makes life worth living and simple as it provides succor to those in need of assistance, adding that the central purpose for which co-operative exists was to meet the common needs and aspirations of its members.

While presenting the financial report for 2018, Financial Secretary of the Cooperative Society, Cecilia Asoka said: “There are many honest people among us who will make good the credit granted them, even when they have left. But there are some that we are still struggling to recover their loans.

“This informs the strict rules which she said are to “protect ourselves.”

She said the Cooperative is determined to remain “viable and prudent” so as to “bring financial succor to our teeming members, friends and families.”

  • Bishop backs creation of state police

The Archbishop of Lagos Province and Diocesan Bishop of Lagos Mainland of the African Church, the Most Reverend Julius Ogunseye, has expressed support for creation of state police, saying it will fix the nation’s security challenges.

The clergyman also urged Nigerians to embrace peace, noting that only a peaceful atmosphere can aid the rapid development of the country.

Ogunseye made the remarks in a sermon he delivered on Easter Sunday at the African Church Salem Cathedral, Ebute Metta, Lagos.

He said: “As a nation let us always embrace peace. I heard in the news yesterday that about 11 people were killed leaving several injured in Makurdi, Benue State while they were in the church by unknown gunmen.

“I am appealing to our federal government to enact the laws that will allow the creation of state police. We are not safe again in this country.’’

The clergyman also called for the retraining of policemen as way of curbing or reducing their unprofessional conduct on duty and extra-judicial killing of citizens.

‘’Our police officers need to go for retraining. Our police colleges must be restructured. It seems there is a huge gap between the training from the colleges and the real life situation.

‘’In Nigeria today, if you make a mistake instead of our police to correct you, they will always want to capitalise on your error and will want to extort you.

“The way our police do go about extra judicial killings these days is becoming totally unacceptable.

‘’Also, the way our brothers and sisters are being killed in Diaspora looks like we do not have recognition in the international scene or we do not have external affairs ministry.”

  • Engaging the breakthrough power of faith!

Welcome to the concluding part of this teaching! I hope you were blessed by the teaching of last week. This week, we shall focus on: Engaging the Breakthrough Power of Faith!

From Scriptures, we discover that it is only our faith that can make us become what God says. The Bible records: Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised (Hebrews 11:11; see also Isaiah 14:27, 55:11). God has sworn; yet, it will take our own faith to become what He has declared. Two things brought about the fulfilment of the prophetic word in Sarah’s life: her faith got the job done, and she also believed in the set time (Genesis 21:1-2). Thus, every prophecy is ordained to be fulfilled at the set time because we serve a God of appointed time (Habakkuk 2:3). God is committed to His timing and when we are in line with the appointed time, our next levels will come. As it is written: And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment (1 Chronicles 12:32). Therefore, if we don’t have an understanding of the time, we stand to be messed up. There are things we must do to experience continuous breakthroughs in our lives. Thus, every breakthrough story in the Kingdom is rooted in specific Word encounters (Isaiah 9:8; John 2:3/5/9; Luke 5:4-7). Many people heard the Word but the Word did not produce in their lives because the Word we don’t put to work will never work. As it is written: Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works (James 2:18).

What, Then, is the Breakthrough Nature of Faith?

    • Faith is sharing responsibility with God in the light of Scriptures, so as to commit Him to make good His promise: Any faith that seeks to make God absolutely responsible for the outcome of its life is an irresponsible faith. Real faith makes us take responsibility to see God in action. Until our part is played, God is not committed.
    • Faith is the spiritual virtue that establishes partnership with the invisible God, thereby empowering us to do the impossible: It is written: What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31). Every time our faith comes alive, God’s partnership with us on that issue of concern is established. So, it is our faith that establishes our partnership with God in dealing with the issues of our lives. For instance, Abraham’s faith was a partnership faith (Genesis 17:1). Every time we believe God, we remind Him of His partnership with us, thus empowering us to do the impossible (Romans 3:3-4). Also, when the Israelites believed Him by going towards the Red Sea, the sea saw them and fled. Their partnership with God made them more than conquerors.
    • Faith is not just reaching out to God who is in heaven; faith is bringing God down to where we are: This means that we are both on the battlefield. His name is called the Omnipotent God, and with the breath of His nostrils, He will slay our enemies.
    • Faith is putting God’s Word to work, believing: We must maintain a thought pattern that is in line with what we believe (Proverbs 23:7).
    • Faith converts the Word into flesh: It converts the spiritual to physical and the immaterial into material (John 1:14).
    • Faith is not just getting God to do something; it is securing God’s partnership in getting things done: As it is written: …for we are labourers together with God (1 Corinthians 3:9). It is that partnership that turns men into living wonders in the world. Faith brings us into partnership that makes us dare the undareable, speak the unspeakable and deliver the impossible.

In summary, if faith is so powerful, why then do we appear so powerless? It is because our faith is not well-rooted. Every change of level meets people suddenly, and except our faith is set, we will trash it and miss our set time. We need to build our faith or it will fail us when our lifting comes because we need a set faith to take delivery of our next levels. Therefore, we should invest in getting our faith set by tapping into the depth that God has given to those who have it. But, to get your faith set, you must be born again. Now, I know I am born again!
