St Mulumba ladies fete over 2000

No fewer than 2,000 residents of Ikota and Ajah communities in Lagos have benefitted from an outreach of Ladies of St. Mulumba Nigeria, Lekki Sub-Council.

The group also donated food, water, bibles, rosaries, catechism books and other items to the beneficiaries that included children, women, widows and the less privileged.

President of the group, Lady Nnenne Ukairo, stated that the outreach was inspired by the injunction of Christ to feed the hungry and cloth the naked.

The additional items, she said, will aid their worship of God.

Chairperson of the Evangelisation planning committee, Lady Ifeoma Okocha-Ojeah, said the initiative was borne out of the desire to demonstrate love to the less-privileged.

Vice President of the Ladies of St Mulumba, Lekki Sub Council, Lady Theresa Chiejina, said: “We all created and dedicated it to spreading the gospel and it’s indeed fulfilling.

“Our Lord expects us to make good use of our talents, treasure and time in serving the people and propagating the message that can only lead to salvation.  We have done our part and the Holy Spirit will continue the rest.”

Some of the beneficiaries expressed delight with the initiative. They promised to make good use of the items given them.

YOWICAN disputed presidential election tears CAN apart

The past few weeks have been quite stormy for leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN) following emerging developments over the disputed election of the youth wing of the body, reports Sunday Oguntola

Top officials of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) are at loggerheads over the leadership crisis rocking the youth wing of the body (YOWICAN).

The leadership crisis, which started as far back as January 2015, escalated last month with the election of a new executive council without the consent and handover of the outgoing executives.

YOWICAN’s outgoing president, Engr. Dan Kazai, faulted the election on the ground that his tenure was still running. According to him, since he was inaugurated on November 2015, his three-year tenure should end by November 2018.

Kazai told our correspondent last week the election that produced Apostle Nyeneime Andy of the Christian Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria/Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (CPFN/PFN) bloc is an illegality that will not stand.

He declared himself the substantive YOWICAN president, saying he couldn’t have been succeeded since he did not hand over. Kazai said: “I am still in office because I have not handed over. I still run my office and nobody has been using it but me. I still have my signatory on all the official documents.”

The election, according to the Adamawa-born Kazai, is null and void because he applied for an injunction restraining CAN from conducting the exercise from an Abuja High Court.

The original summons, the YOWICAN helmsman said was signed for by National Secretary of CAN, Rev Musa Asake as well as the National Director of Education, Women and Youth Development, Elder Biodun Sanyaolu.

“They should be aware that as long as there is a case in court, all actions must be suspended until it is dispensed it. It is sad to note that CAN officials who should mirror justice and fairness can sign for a court document and still go ahead with the exercise in defiance,” Kazai stated.

He alleged certain forces in the apex Christian body are bent on imposing people they can use for their clandestine plans ahead of the 2019 general elections.

“They want to get me out of the way for someone they can use. They want to use CAN structure to make money from politicians next year,” he alleged.

But Andy told our correspondents Kazai is fighting a lost battle for himself. “The truth is he is alone. He is the only one that has refused to hand over. His secretary and assistant have handed over, including others.

“They even took us to the CAN President on Wednesday for introduction as the new YOWICAN executives. So, he is on his own and fighting for himself. Others have officially handed over to us.

“I have my office and so do other executives. The same Kazai has a history of leaving every post he held with rancor. He did the same when he was YOWICAN chairman in Nasarawa,” Andy stated.

    A festering wound

Checks by our correspondent revealed the troubles with YOWICAN started in 2014 when national election was called for. Barrister Samuel Kwamkur, the leading presidential candidate, was coasting home but forces within his ECWA/TEKAN bloc denied him nomination.

On Election Day, ECWA/TEKAN delegates met and decided to nominate Kazai to represent the bloc. Kwamkur, who had the backings of many outside his bloc, realised he had failed a basic requirement to stand for election: bloc nomination.

Kazai was massively voted but Kwamkur, a lawyer, headed to court, a development that embarrassed the CAN leadership and forced many peace meetings.

At the end of the interventions, an out-of-court settlement was arrived at, an arrangement that leapfrogged Kwamkur to his current office as National Legal Adviser.

Kazai was eventually sworn in on November 11, 2015, few months after the other executive members have started operations in January. It is on the basis of the inauguration date that he is contesting the length of his tenure, arguing it has been cut short by almost 11 months.

Investigations revealed his fate was sealed at the last National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of CAN in Abuja where the National Director of Education, Women and Youth Development, Elder Biodun Sanyaolu, presented a memo that was accepted by the house.

The memo, insiders confided, requested for a go-ahead for the exercise after the adoption of the 37-year-old limit for candidates.

Kazai, it was learnt, avoided the meeting knowing he would have no influence whatsoever in the final decision.

Penultimate Wednesday, Sanyaolu followed up with a private memo to CAN President, His Eminence Rev Dr Supo Ayokunle.

The memo, obtained by our correspondent, reads: “Your Eminence Sir,

“I humbly wish to inform you of the following as regards the coming YOWICAN election:

“a. This afternoon, we received a notice of originating summons filed by Dan Kazai whereby he has applied for an injunction to restrain CAN from conducting the election of Saturday 27th January. The case is to be heard on Tue 31st January at the High court in Abuja. No injunction order yet pls.

“b. We have completed the screening of the candidates. Out of the three candidates for the Chairmanship, the one nominated by CPFN/PFN has been disqualified on the ground that he’s 8months above 37years which is the age limit as approved by NEC.

“c. Following the publication of Guardian of 24th January, page 6 wherein, Dan Kazai claimed that the leadership of CAN has been given 5bn and has adopted PMB for a 2nd term, and that he’s the only one that opposed the adoption; a reason why we want to conduct election 10months into the end of his tenure, in order to punish him. I met with Senator Phillip from Nasarawa to explain the whole story and to debunk the falsehood.

“After due consultation with the Director Legal, we are informing you of our decision to conduct the election as approved by NEC.

Many thanks for your support sir.”

    Brewing troubles

Andy’s initial suspension was upturned by the screening committee, much to the annoyance of Sanyaolu, findings revealed.

Also, NEC was alleged to have accepted the proposal by Sanyaolu that YOWICAN presidency should be based on rotation to mitigate disputes.

The Organisation of African Instituted Church (OAIC) and Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) were the only two blocs yet to have a shot at the youth presidency.

But this too was ditched few hours to the election. Realising two vital components of his memo had been tampered with, a visibly angry left Abuja on the morning of the election for his base in Lagos.

He was reported to have told people he would have nothing to do with the election, claiming some forces were out to manipulate the process.

Without the National Director constitutionally empowered to conduct the election, the lot fell on Committee members of the Directorate to take over.

Two out of the five-man committee, it was gathered, decided the election would go. They carried out the exercise that produced a winner with Andy scoring over 50 votes.

Sanyaolu, it was learnt, resigned his appointment as National Director last week deeply touched by the sudden changes without his inputs in the exercise.

A competent source told our correspondent Sanyaolu presented his letter to Ayokunle in Lagos during a parley with OAIC National leaders.

Pleas by Ayokunle on him to consider the backlashes of such move did not yield efforts. Sanyaolu told our correspondent last Friday that he refused to conduct the election because the guideline stating contestants must be 37 years was not followed religiously.

“I am a sticker for rules and democrat. The rule says a contestant must be 37 but the disqualified candidate was 37 years and eight months. In that circumstance, he shouldn’t have been in the race.”

He however said he would present Andy as winner of the election to the NEC meeting this week in Abuja. “I have nothing against him. I will present him to NEC. If they say 37 is the same as being 37 and eight months, that’s fine by me.”

Sanyaolu confirmed his resignation was upturned by the OAIC bloc that elected him for the directorate, stating that he had no choice than to follow the dictates of his bloc.

    Echoes of discord

Aside from the resignation of Sanyaolu, checks revealed the disputed YOWICAN presidential election has further deepened the crisis of confidence in the umbrella Christian body.

National Secretary of the body, Rev Musa Asake, told our correspondent that he wouldn’t be able to say much because he has been sidelined in the affairs of the organisation.

“I don’t get to know much of what happens these days again in CAN. I have been here since 2012 but since the new leadership came on board, it has been more or less a one-man show.

“Nobody told me what happened during the election officially because the Director said he wouldn’t report to me. They all report directly to the President, even when the constitution says it has to be to the National Secretary.

“So, I am just here more or less a ceremonial secretary because I don’t know much of what happens at the secretariat again,” he stressed.

The Vice President of CAN, Elder Professor Joseph Otubu, in a memo to some selected church leaders, also alleged imposition of candidates in the just-concluded exercise, describing it unconstitutional.

In the memo, Otubu said: “I want to draw your attention to a just concluded youth election for the position of Chairman of YOWICAN.

‘The candidate of PFN for the election was disqualified on the basis of age limit but Rev Onifade (Senior Special Assistant to CAN President on Ecumenism) insisted that the candidate must be allowed to run for the election.

“In reaction to Onifade’s insistence, Elder Sanyolu who is the Director of Youth in CAN resigned his position and did not take part in the election.

“The duo of Ayokunle/ Onifade allowed the election to take place and the candidate from PFN emerged as winner of this unconstitutional election.

“My concern is why a young man will spend so much money to render service as Chairman of YOWICAN? When did money become the most important thing to church leaders?

“As it stands now Christians have been brought to believe that CAN elections are heavily monetised and whoever has a very deep pocket can emerge winner. I can longer see the difference between the behaviour of politicians and Christian leaders in CAN.

“When we talk of CAN leaders today, Onifade literally runs CAN with the Confidential Secretary (Mrs. Eunice Araoye). How can a Confidential Secretary that was appropriated by Rev Ayokunle literally take on the position of a General Secretary?

“So when we refer to CAN leadership as it stands today, it is Ayokunle, Onifade, the Treasurer and the confidential secretary.”

When contacted, Senior Special Assistant on Media to Ayokunle, Rev Bayo Oladeji, denied all the allegations against the CAN President, saying they were handiworks of disgruntled elements afraid of the reforms being carried out by the number one Christian citizen.

“He has nothing to do with the election. He was not even in the country when the exercise took place.

“As a democrat, he allowed the Director to present his memo to NEC, which was exhaustively deliberated. He merely allowed what NEC decided to take effect.

“He has no interest in who becomes YOWICAN President because he has more serious issues to attend to,” he stated.

  • Ambode, Ayokunle, Chief Judge, others for IDDS

Lagos State Governor Akinwumi Ambode will next Saturday lead others Christians to the annual Inter-Denominational Divine Service (IDDS) of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Lagos chapter.

The service, which holds at Shepherdhill Baptist Obanikoro by 10am, has as its theme humility in service.

Lagos CAN chairman Apostle Alexander Bamgbola told reporters last Wednesday that the service will also attract CAN National President, Rev Dr Supo Ayokunle.

Ayokunle, he said, will be the special guest preacher during the service where prayers would be offered for peace and progress of the state.

Also expected at the service, according to Bamgbola are Wife of Lagos Governor, Bolanle and Chief Judge of the state Mrs. Opeyemi Oke.

The CAN helmsman pointed out prayers have been sustaining Lagos State, saying the state even needs more prayers to remain on top.

He appealed to Christians in the state to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to enable them vote for candidates of the choice in the 2019 general elections.

  • How youths can make it big in Nigeria, by Inyang

How youths can make it big in Nigeria, by Inyang

Youths can make it big in Nigeria if they work hard at their potential and remain focused, Senior Pastor of Sure Word Assembly Okota, Lagos, Pastor Dennis Inyang, has stated.

He advised them to stay back in the country and work towards actualisation of their dreams instead of embarking on fruitless journey abroad.

Inyang told our correspondent last week that Nigeria has enough resources and opportunities to go round youths who know what they are doing.

According to him: “It is so sad to realise that many of our youths have given up on our country. That is why they will do anything to travel out of Nigeria under the illusion that they will make it in Europe, Asia or America.

“For some youths, anywhere is better than staying here. That is why some of them brave the odds to travel to Europe through Libya and such dangerous routes.

“Many end up as slaves and prostitutes in foreign nations. But that must change. That must stop.

“Nigeria is a great nation with great potential and I believe that with hard work and perseverance, anyone can make it here.”

He asked youths to take responsibility for their lives, realising that they ultimately become whatever they want.

Inyang, who runs Excel Africa, an NGO devoted to youth empowerment, said: “My first advice to any youth who wants to make it anywhere, not only in Nigeria, is simple: don’t outsource your future to anyone, not even the government.

“Take responsibility for your life and decide that no matter what comes your way, no matter what circumstance you find yourself in and no matter what others think of you, you will make it.

“Until you make up your mind to succeed, you will always have good and legitimate reasons to fail.

“As a youth, you should not be at the mercy of your environment. Recognise your potential and unleash it to create the future you desire.”

Though he said it is good to get education, Inyang, however, stated Nigerian graduates shouldn’t expect jobs to fall on their laps without personal efforts.

“There was a time when all you needed was to graduate from the university and a job would be waiting for you.

“So every youth should acquire some education. But part of the problem is that most of our youths go to school with the mind that they will get good employment when they graduate.

“When the job is not forthcoming, they get frustrated and may resort to crime. But times have changed.

“My advice to every youth is get an education that you can use. The value of your education is in what you can do with it if nobody employs you.”

He called on youths to dare to be self-employed, saying they shouldn’t expect mega wealth working for others.

Inyang stated: “There is nothing wrong with working for others But if that is all you aim to do as a youth, sorry, you will not make it big!

“Anyone who wants to make it big must attempt big things. No youth should be satisfied with handouts.

“He must capture a vision of a higher life and pursue it with all he’s got. He must keep at it, be able to hang on and get up if he falls.”

  • Understanding our New Dawn Heritage in Redemption!

Understanding our New Dawn Heritage in Redemption!

Welcome to this great month of February! I pray that things that eyes have not seen, nor ears heard shall become the order of the day in our lives in Jesus name! Today, we shall focus on ‘Understanding our New Dawn Heritage in Redemption!’

We must recognise that understanding is important to accessing our heritage in the Kingdom. The truth is: It is one thing to read or hear but an entirely a different thing to see; but only those who see possess their inheritance in God. Therefore, we must set ourselves to see mysteries from God’s Word. Remember, until we have understanding of any scripture, the benefits are not released to us. Hence, it takes understanding to connect to the virtues in the Word. Once understanding comes alive, miracles are inevitable.

The Ethiopian Eunuch in Acts 8 was reading from Isaiah 53, but he did not understand what he was reading until Philip, moved by the Holy Ghost, asked him, Understandest thou what thou readest? Philip opened him up to the benefits of that scripture. And as soon as he understood what Philip was saying, he said: See, here is water, what doth hinder me to be baptized? It is important to understand that every truth of Scripture is valid for all times but applicable only to those who are interested. By redemption, we are members of the household of God; a new dawn family. When we are saved, old things are passed away, all things are become new. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (2 Corinthians 5:17). That is, when we are baptised unto Jesus, you are empowered to live and walk in the newness of life.). Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God (Ephesians 2:19).

From scriptures, we discover that redemption changes our stories and ushers us into a completely new life. This implies that we are now members of the household of God which is a “New Dawn” Family (2 Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 2:19).

But, what then is New Dawn?

According to scriptures, New Dawn connotes a life:

    • Where new things never cease happening  (Isaiah 42:7-9, 43:18-19; Malachi 3:6)
    • Where we continue to experience the strange works and strange acts of God as a way of life (John 3:8; Isaiah 28:21-22)
    • Where new doors continue to open to us (Isaiah 45:1-3; Revelation 3:7)
    • Where we continue to experience a change of story:
    • Where we go from strength to strength and from glory to glory (Psalm 73:1, 84:7; 2 Corinthians 3:18)
    • A life where things that eyes have not seen nor ears heard are the order of the day (1Corinthians 2:9-10)
    • Where we experience new things:
    • Year in year out (Psalm 65:11; Luke 13:6-9)
    • Month after month (Revelation 22:1; Isaiah 61:3)
    • Day in day out (Psalm 23:3, 68:19; Lamentations 3:22-23)
    • A family where every day is Christmas (Psalm 23:6, 33:18-19, 132:13-16)

In addition, we have a New Dawn root in God the Father, the God of new things, who said: Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing (Isaiah 43:18-19). Also, it is written: The former things have come to pass, new thing do I declare (Isaiah 42:8-9). Remember, God also said, I am the Lord, I Change not.  God is still doing new things in the lives of His people today (Malachi 3:6).  Moreover, we also have a New Dawn root in Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour, whose mission on earth was and is still characterised by new and strange things, as we saw people exclaimed concerning Him:

    • We never saw it on this fashion (Mark 2:12)
    • We have seen strange things to day! (Luke 5:26)
    • What manner of man is this? (Mark 8:27)

Remember, also that Jesus is the same, yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8).

Furthermore, we have a New Dawn root in the Apostles, who manifested strange works and strange acts in their ministries.

    • They unveiled mysteries that were hidden for ages (Ephesians 3:1-5/8-11)
    • Peter’s shadow healed the sick (Acts 5:15)
    • Paul and Barnabas were called ‘gods’ in the likeness of men (Acts 14:11)
    • They preached strange things and commanded strange results (Acts 17:16-21)

As we all know, the church is built on the foundation of Apostles and Prophets, so we have our foundation in strange works and strange acts (Ephesians 2:20).

Above all, we are in the last days which are the ‘New Dawn’ era of the Church of Christ on earth; the era of new and strange things (Joel 2:28-29; Zechariah 8:20-23). We understand from scriptures that the wave shall be so strange that it shall be spoken against by many people; but nothing shall be able to stop it (Joel 1:1-11; Acts 28:22; Isaiah 28:21-22).

However, new birth is the access of anyone to this “New Dawn” family (2 Corinthians 5:17; Romans 6:4).

Are you born again? If you are not, this is an opportunity to do so. Simply say the following prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Today, I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now I know I am born again!” For further reading, please get my book: Exploring the Riches in Redemption. I invite you to come and fellowship with us at the Faith Tabernacle, Canaanland, Ota, the covenant home of Winners. We have five services on Sundays, holding at 6:00 a.m., 7:50 a.m., 9:40 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1:20 p.m. respectively. I know this teaching has blessed you. • YWCA empowers women on leadership skills

Empowering women with leadership skills to become positive change agents within their community was the focus of a leadership training programme by Young Women Christian Association (YWCA) last week.

Tagged empowering young women to lead change programme, the training attracted 15 women from different professions in Lagos.

It featured interactive sessions, role play and lectures on human rights, women in leadership, justice, female sexual, health and reproductive rights as well as gender equality, among others.

Chairperson of YWCA Lagos State Branch, Mrs. Olapeju Shofowora, noted the training was designed to support the development of young women skills and enable them to provide leadership on the issues that concern them.

Shofowora added the module for the training fostered self- determined approaches to developing leadership skills and awareness of their strength and right.

She informed that the training is a global one-year programme, where participants are expected to come with two projects to celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child and one week action against violence against women in October.

Atilade: We risk another civil war if…

The Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) South West region, Archbishop Magnus Atilade, has warned the killings by Fulani herdsmen could degenerate to another civil war if allowed to fester.

He called on President Muhammadu Buhari and security agencies to stop at nothing to halt the killings in the interest of national peace.

Atilade, who described the killings as worrisome, said endangered ethnic groups might be compelled to resort to self defence if they government does not arrest the situation.

According to him: “It is so sad and unfortunate that a section of businessmen from a part of the country have become unstoppable in their determination to kill.

“It is even more unfortunate that government has not given the situations the required urgency and attention. If care is not taken, we might experience another civil war at the rate things are going.

“This is because the ethnic groups will soon take to self defence and starting arming themselves. It means the next time the herdsmen attack them, there would be more casualties on both sides.

“Once people get the feeling the government can no longer protect them, they will take to self-help. That is the perfect recipe for another civil war.”

He advised Buhari to rid himself of any sectional sentiment or feeling to tackle the menace headlong, saying “he should be President of all, not act as President of the Fulanis or the north.”

Atilade, who is also the President of Gospel Baptist Conference in Nigeria and Overseas (GBCNO), said security forces must not only stop the killings but punish the perpetrators.

“How come no Fulani herdsman has been arrested till date? Are they ghosts that are invisible? Until we arrest and prosecute them, we have not done justice to the matter,” he further stated.

He also called on the President to free himself from real and imaginary cabal, saying there are too many talks of some people holding him to ransom.

“Even his wife said the same thing the other day. The President has to get rid of these people who are bent on destroying the nation on the altar of personal interest.

“They have formed a protective shield around him and misinform the President on the true state of things,” he lamented.

Atilade also joined calls on Buhari not to seek reelection in 2019.

“He should consider his health first and foremost. It is a sheer miracle God rescued him the other times. It is in his interest and that of the nation for him to turn down those calling on him to contest again next year,” he stated.

  • Okwii is new WATS provost

    Okwii is new WATS provost

The West Africa Theological Seminary (WATS) has installed Prof. John Okwii as its new provost.

The Ugandan became the new head of the leading theological institution last week.

In his acceptance speech, Okwii promised to be a servant leader who will always be approachable to all lecturers, students, non-teaching staff and stakeholders of the institution.

He pledged to take WATS to the next level through innovative policies and programmes designed to give theological education a facelift.

Okwii unveiled a 20-point agenda for the institution, promising to commit to research and training, curriculum development and spiritual formation, among others.

According to him: “We intend to make this Seminary strong in research, citation and international visibility. Between 2018 and 2022, WATS will be producing a minimum of five internationally validated and reasonably acclaimed professors.

“The WATS publishing house will promote writing and research. “We have found a donor who is willing to finance top flight research. This is an imperative need.

“Our library is now second to none in west Africa. We are set to launch a terminal degree leading to the award of doctor of philosophy (PhD) between this year and 2022.

“We have the capacity in collaboration with either Asbury Theological Seminary or some other renowned universities in the USA.”

Okwii pledged to work towards the establishment of a staff school as well as radio station that will service the seminary community.

He lamented that the absence of theological inputs in many churches and ministries have led to syncretism and unwholesome practices, saying theology has to become appealing as a necessity for ministerial exploits.

Appealing to Christians to become more committed to God, the new provost said: “We should always consult God in prayers before we speak or make decisions.

“Listening to God is the only key to growth physically and spiritually. What man can do, God will never do.”

Founder of the institution, Rev Dr Gary Maxey, assured that Okwii will help to take WATS to the next phase, saying he came highly recommended and qualified.

  • ‘The worst is over for Nigeria’

‘The worst is over for Nigeria’

With the nation officially exiting recession, President of the Christ Apostolic Church Mission (CAMC), Pastor Olusoji Ajayi, believes things can only get better. He spoke with Sunday Oguntola on other burning national issues. Excerpts:

    How Nigeria missed it

The Lord said the economic problem started in 1977 during the FESTAC ’77 celebration. The economic situation started then but nobody took it seriously. The Lord told me we need to do serious repentance and national prayers but Nigerians failed to do it. Rather former President Goodluck Jonathan ran to Israel with lots of money and big wigs to pray. What type of prayer will the Lord answer in a five- star hotel?

    Getting out of recession

In December 2016, I did say that Nigeria will get out of recession in another one year. Officially, the government has declared we have exited recession. I said that because the Lord gave me that word. I won’t say anything except when I hear the voice of the Lord. It was not a prediction but prophecy. Whatever God says will naturally come to pass.

The Lord said 1977 to 2017 is 40 years and He said after 40 years Nigeria would have got over all these. When a man or anything clocks 40, maturity sets in. The Lord says we are in a period of prosperity.

I didn’t say all the problems would have been completely over but will start to be over. I can assure you by 2019, you will look at it and say could it be this country that these problems are already over? Nigerians have gone through the worse. We pray that the elements that brought us to the recession will not come back in 2019 and if the government in power wins in 2019, things will improve.

We have a President who does not believe in ostentatious lifestyle. He has no house in London, no house in Dubai. May God give Buhari a few more years and those to take over from him would build on it. There are still a few people like Buhari.

    Not a Buhari apologist

A man’s horse is never good in the sight of his detractors. If I am good, a few others are good. Those who are not good can’t see anything good in it. The problem with this country is that there are some who want to grab and for personal interests.

I am not praising Buhari but nobody can say we have found billions in Buhari’s accounts. Previous leaders have been wasteful. Before now a contract of N2m can go to N2bn without anybody asking questions.

They said by 2010, Nigeria will be among the first 20 economies I countered it that it was a mirage. If you tell me Nigeria in the next 10 years will rank among the best I will not counter it because our economy is being well managed.

The reason I would have wanted Buhari to continue in 2019 is to solidify and build on some structures he has laid so that if anybody is coming on board, it would be difficult to destroy. If you build a foundation and you don’t build on it, it is easy for anybody to change the structure.

    Tithing is not for debate

Tithe or tithing or the payment is demanded by God. The Lord demanded for it. He said to bring all the tithes and put me to a test by it and see if God will not bless you. It is a clear command from God. I have heard people say but Jesus did not pay tithes.

Was he earning anything? Did Christ cancel tithes payment? Didn’t he say I am not come to cancel the law but to perfect it? The only place he came in was the area of reforms as regarding manners and mannerism. The New Testament is a compelling continuation of the Old Testament. If you say Christ did not agree with the injunction, did he cancel it?

When he was asked to pay tax, he told Peter to go to the river to catch a fish. He said ‘give unto Caesar what belongs to Caesar and give unto God what belongs to God’. A lot of people don’t even know what they are saying before they come out to criticise.

Some people are saying there are too many churches. But more people are still committing sins. So we haven’t even got enough churches. There are still a lot of people who don’t know who Christ is.
